Is anyone still having dull aches and pains like period pains? I suppose its all stretching and growing down there but I just remember with my last pregnancy only really experiencing the AF type pains really early on. Overthinking as per usual...!

Evening ladies. Been a bit quiet as I’ve had scan anxiety but had one today and the sonographer said everything looked great. Measuring 12+5 when I thought I was 12+2. NHS one is on Monday, hoping that after that my anxiety eases a bit!

For everyone wondering about symptoms, mine definitely started to ease towards the end of 10 weeks. I found the thought of food made me feel a lot less nauseous. But I had days earlier on where I felt normal for a few hours, panicked and then the symptoms came back. Once it was after a really big sleep, where I slept all night (so rare, usually I’m up at least once for a wee and feel really sick).

Still feeling sick on and off but miles better than before and less tired.

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/11/2022 21:22

@BobbySD345 mines costing me £525 😫

@BobbySD345 it must be Trust dependent as I'm 36 and my midwife told me that unless my combined test showed high risk, the NHS wouldn't offer me a free NIPT. I'm in the North West.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/11/2022 07:51

I've woken up and DD has given me her cold. Been coughing all night. Going to drown myself in orange juice and paracetamol today and hope it doesn't take hold too bad. Nausea still not great but I've found frosted wheeties from Aldi help a bit to settle stomach.

Ally1992 · 23/11/2022 07:53

Since the vomiting episode on Monday it has really eased off and I have more energy so fingers crossed it stays 🤞

To those that had 12 week scans this week it’s lovely to hear they went well 😊

BobbySD345 · 23/11/2022 11:20

@BellaTheDarkOverlord Our house is full of cold and bugs too. We have all had laryngitis and upset stomachs. I'm craving OJ again so I will be grabbing some on lunch ! Hope you feel better soon !

Random but any front sleepers, are you still front sleeping at this stage? I know once baby is bigger it's not the best idea and also very uncomfortable but in these early stages NHS website says it's OK. I just wondered what you all thought/are doing? We can't really sleep on our backs as we get bigger either can we and I hate side sleeping as it hurts my hips. My fault for being overweight I guess.

Hopeful1992 · 23/11/2022 11:55

ive been stupid and done a cheapie a test this morning because my sickness seemed to fade last night. It’s strong but not as strong as the one I did a couple of weeks ago which was a dye stealer. This isn’t as dark as the control line. I read that hcg can drop from 8 weeks and also read about the hook effect but I’ve really freaked myself out.
we have a private early scan on Saturday morning so I don’t have too long to wait but has this happened to anyone else?

Everyone please ignore me and my panicking. I diluted the urine and got a really strong test. I’ve now thrown any left over tests away before I drive myself and everyone else insane!

dresslol · 23/11/2022 13:11

@BellaTheDarkOverlord @BobbySD345 my daughter is coughing and spluttering this week with a high temperature and I’m just crossing my fingers I don’t get it too. Hope you both manage to dodge getting ill.

The wait for my panorama test results is killing me, I’ve been told it can be up to 10 working days… only three left

I’m a front sleeper. Definitely still front sleeping. I assume I will continue until it gets uncomfortable. Or there a cutoff point when I should stop?

I have got blood forms to go and do the NIPT test which I think is the harmony test and I've just read online why! Because at the date of delivery I will be 35. Apparently any mother 35 or over at date of delivery qualifies to have it on the NHS. I don't know how I feel about that as by virtue of being given it for free, I am clearly at greater risk. Also don't believe we can opt to know gender. I believe they only check for abnormalities.

I know I am offered a screening test when I go for my scan (for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s) but the information refers to the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP). Is this the same as a NIPT or is that something different?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/11/2022 14:11

@WindUpPenguin I got told by my midwife there are two tests. They do the first near 12 weeks which tests for chances of those conditions then if the chance is higher there is a second test later on. My midwife called first NT scanning. It was free for my district. I declined it on this occasion.

natkasz · 23/11/2022 14:58

Yep nuchal translucency is offered to everyone on the NHS. It gives you a chance of chromosomal abnormalities (e.g. 1 in 500) but won't give you a definitive answer. If it comes back as high risk (e.g. 1 in 100) they offer further testing which gives a clear yes or no.

Hlc86 · 23/11/2022 16:23

I'm 36 also and have been offered the tests as I'm classed as a "geratric mother" I thought everyone got offered them, but looking back with my daughter I didn't. My NHS scan is exactly 2 weeks away then I should be 12 weeks, the wait seems to take forever and keeping it a secret is sooo hard. My sickness seems to have eased the last couple of day and boobs not so sore, but everything I've read says that's normal at this stage so trying not to worry. I've got back to sleeping on my front now my boobs don't hurt! Been bliss lol

dresslol · 23/11/2022 17:02

@BellaTheDarkOverlord @WindUpPenguin i sleep on my front still, 11w2d today, it’s still comfortable for me. I only read that sleeping on your back was a problem after a certain stage… are their risks for sleeping on your front, or is it just that you can’t physically do it after a certain point?

You'll find you physically can't sleep on your front at some point, it becomes uncomfortable and then painful. You can carry on doing it until it's uncomfortable though, it doesn't carry the same risks as sleeping on your back. You're supposed to stop sleeping on your back at the end of your first trimester so around 12-13 weeks.

dresslol · 23/11/2022 18:01

Thanks @Algor1thm good to know I’m not sleeping wrong at least! Just need to be better at resisting sugar!

@Hlc86 I’m a week away from my scan and the wait has been agonising, as an actual geriatric mother (over 40!!!) I’m very nervous and keeping it under wraps has been so tough.

Best of luck to you and everyone else with their 12 week scans coming up x x x

Algor1thm · 23/11/2022 20:38

I have an at home doppler (controversial, I know they're not recommended) and I just found the little heartbeat for the first time in this pregnancy 😍😍

DrinkingAllTheGin · 23/11/2022 22:32

I'm a geriatric mum too. Over 40. Been offered some test or other, cat remember which, and my midwife said results are very likely to come back high and not to worry. There will be a follow-up test, possibly the NIPTI and that issue accurate.

And I am also craving fresh OJ. For me it has to be the ones from sainsbury juice squeezing machine, fresh from the orange.

Scan is Monday and as I am reaching the stage &date where I had my MMC last year I am starting to worry more.

dresslol · 24/11/2022 00:09

@DrinkingAllTheGin wishing you all the best for your scan on Monday. I should have my Panorama test results back by then. I have my NHS nuchal scan on Tuesday too, feels like a lot. The wait goes on. How are you feeling? Has your pregnancy gone ok so far?

BobbySD345 · 24/11/2022 07:17

Oooh w were so tempted to get a doppler but then would panic if I couldn't find the heartbeat. I bet that was amazing to hear 😍

My scan date is 13th Dec so I wanted to book a private one between now and then as it seems like forever away. I had a wobble earlier in the week as when I had my cold bad I felt all my symptoms had gone but I am definitely still queasy on and off and very tired. I also have a rock hard developing belly. I feel huge. I have been googling 10 week 2nd pregnancy bellies to make myself feel better and some are quite similar thankfully but how the hell I am going to hide it for another 2/3 weeks, I do not know!

If anyone is brave enough to put a 2nd pregnancy 8-12 week bump pic in here (I am certainly not lol) then please do 🤣

B1993 · 24/11/2022 08:32

@Algor1thm, if it was the heartbeat, that's incredible!! 🥰🤩

I was looking into getting one, too, but it's not recommended for so many reasons and I think I'll be the person is who is falsely reaussured or not reassured when baby is actually fine! 🙈 I read this article for Tommy's: www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/blogs-and-stories/im-pregnant/tommys-midwives/word-us-home-dopplers
If anyone is unsure, it has some (I think, at least) helpful information.

B1993 · 24/11/2022 08:37

My 12 week scan is tomorrow morning and feeling really impatient today and wishing the day away 🙈😅

For anyone else with a scan this week or next, good luck! I'm looking forwards to seeing lots of photos of our little people 🥰😍

@BobbySD345, I'm huge! My bump is just so noticeable and has been since day 1 (obviously that was more bloat than bump though. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that this pregancy was right after my loss so things were already a bit stretched from the one before 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure I'm brave enough to post a photo either... 😂😂
