@cheekysausage that's so amazing! I was secretly hoping for twins as they're in my family. How lovely for you! 1.1mm is really good, mine was 1.9mm last time and came back really low risk.

@Cuppasoupmonster I went off at 38 weeks last time as I thought the baby would be late (and I was right!) but I was still working from home a bit as I had deadlines for things. This time I'll probably do 38 weeks again unless I'm feeling particularly run down. I'd rather have the time at the other end as even after 13 months off last time I really wasn't ready to go back, DD was still breastfeeding like a bloody newborn through the night and I was exhausted.

MamaMenna · 10/10/2022 12:26

Identical twins @cheekysausage how exciting!! I was almost hoping for twins but not to be! How do you feel about twins?

I'm also enjoying browsing for maternity wear. I haven't ever tried their things, so don't know what the quality is like, but Verbaudet have some lovely styles, I'm eyeing up a couple of their muslin dresses and there's a mini one too for dd so we can match.
This time round I'd like some overalls, any recommendations for some of those relaxed ones with the knotted straps at the front? I don't want denim.
I think I'll mostly be living in leggings and short dresses and jumpers / cardigans. I like the comfort of leggings but need bum coverage as feel too naked otherwise 😅
Also can't wait for the flutters, I found it the most wonderful thing last time, plus so reassuring to know they are wriggling around in there. I think I felt them at 16 weeks last time so I'm hoping it won't be long now

ancienthouse · 10/10/2022 13:00

@MamaMenna lots of people wear Lucy and Yak dungarees during pregnancy but I found they didn't have enough room for the bump after about 6 months. And I think if I'd sized up then they would have been too baggy in the leg for me.
I've gone for dungaree dresses this time that have stretchy panels at the side. They're so cosy over a jumper and leggings.
I got some Verbaudet baby bits last time and they're OK quality wise, probably the same as H&M, and very cute.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/10/2022 13:05

H&M were great for maternity stuff back with DD when I could afford new 🤪 supermarket lines like Tu and George are good for maternity basics like pyjamas, vest tops, tights. M&S also has maternity stuff in their sale at the moment.

My only baby purchases so far have been a play mat and some milestone cards 😂 I’m going to wait until I know the sex and have had the 20 week scan before buying anything else now. Although once I know the sex I will probably buy a light pramsuit from vinted. I’ve worked out the baby will probably be born around the 20th March, which is still quite nippy, so thinking a few quid for a pramsuit will cover my bases there.

After the 20 week scan I’m going to get all the baby stuff down from the loft, decide what to keep and sell the rest to raise some cash for anything else we need.

Tubbytele · 10/10/2022 13:26

Amazing scan pic @cheekysausage

@Gilm0reGirl About the placenta, did you get paperwork with your scan results? I know it works differently at each trust but in my last pregnancy it was written down where the placenta was located. I can't remember if the 12 week results include this, I'll be having my scan this Thursday as I was too early couple weeks ago.

Definitely agree with everyone that anaesthetists are the best! I'll also never forget the paediatrician who saved my little boy and resuscitated him after my c-section.

@Cuppasoupmonster hopefully I'll find out my approximate due date from the scan on Thursday but as I'm a teacher, the Easter hols will start from 1st April so dependent on my due date I'm thinking to take maternity leave during the Easter hols to push back the date as far as possible. Whether I'll be able to work until then is another question so will have to see.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/10/2022 13:43

@Tubbytele absolutely worth doing if you can! Big sis is a teacher and did the same with a half term.

Oh my days DH is getting on my tits 🙄 he’s not excited about the baby yet, he says he was excited at the scan but the rest of the time is worrying about money and coping with 2 children. He comes from a very neat, nuclear family with good jobs etc whereas mine is enormous and pretty skint! So I’m quite relaxed as I know you just find ways to cope and be resourceful, but he’s convinced we will end up living under a bridge without a pot to piss in. I mean 2 kids, we’re hardly the Radford’s are we? It’s kind of funny but also getting me down a bit to be honest.

anyway off to walk the dog and then have my back to work chat with manager now I’m feeling much better.

bluebubbles12 · 10/10/2022 13:55

@cheekysausage wow, your scan photo is amazing! I was secretly hoping for twins. I love the idea in theory, but I'm sure they would be a handful! Difficult to see the nub, but I was swaying towards girl for the bottom twin (can't remember their number!) Don't think I could see the nub with the other twin, but with them being identical I'm going to guess two girls 😊

cheekysausage · 10/10/2022 14:00

Thank you for your predications! I’m not sure I can see a nub on either 🤣 Bottom twin seems to be facing a strange way (not a good clear side profile) so I’m struggling to tell 🤷🏼‍♀️

Springblooms08 · 10/10/2022 14:49

Had my rebooked 12 week scan and all looked good - measured as 12+3. Couple of pics in case you can see anything different from last time @Cuppasoupmonster our resident guesser!

MamaMenna · 10/10/2022 14:54

@ancienthouse stretchy panelled dungaree dresses sound good, where did you buy those?
@Cuppasoupmonster I wish I could shop supermarkets for clothes but I'm I'm germany and they don't do that here. I'm getting pretty desperate for tights / jeans / leggings though so will just have to go with somewhere like h&m I think.
I think my DH is in a similar place to yours, worrying a bit about the financial responsibility of looking after us all. That's a great idea once gender is known to sell what isn't needed, I'm going to do the same

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/10/2022 14:56

@Springblooms08 my most confident guess yet (besides the twins), that is a girl 💖 how lovely!

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/10/2022 14:58

@MamaMenna If it helps most of the supermarket ranges have online delivery (I know Tu, George and Nutmeg do), although I’m not sure if they post internationally. How is German maternity care out of interest?

If it’s a boy I’ve got tons of girly clothes to sell, not that I’m a rabid pink/blue type but all the unisex clothes tend to be grey and white, I like colour! It’s a shame there’s so few baby clothes in yellows/greens etc.

Springblooms08 · 10/10/2022 15:04

Ahh really @Cuppasoupmonster! Here was my pic from 11+2 when we thought boy, but I remember you saying a boy nub could rise!

Margo34 · 10/10/2022 15:04

@Tubbytele teacher here too, my due date falls exactly on the last day of Easter holidays so I'll take my mat leave from then 🙌

Margo34 · 10/10/2022 15:06

@Cuppasoupmonster can you show us on a clear scan the bits you look at to guess the gender from nub theory? I have no idea but would love to know!

Margo34 · 10/10/2022 15:06

Although that said I'm team yellow so I'm just curious I guess as to how you work it out! @Cuppasoupmonster

Skylark1990 · 10/10/2022 15:07

Re mat leave I'm actually thinking of going off at 34/35 weeks this time. I am working full time 5 days across 4 days ATM and it's quite intense and I'd just like to do it for as short a time as poss 😂 I'll go proper part time after number 2 but keen to get the full time mat pay... 😏 DD came at 42 weeks so if that happens again and I go off at 34 weeks I'll have 8 weeks off 😂😂 Tbh sounds great to me. Not entirely sure and I'll see how I'm going in January and decide then I think.

@ancienthouse dungaree dresses sound great, where are they from? @cheekysausage beautiful scan pic! So cool you are having twins!!

@Cuppasoupmonster sorry to hear DH is being a bit of a downer. I'm sure as the pregnancy progresses he will get more excited! Men seem to worry about money more, well my DH is the same... Thinks about it more than me, for better or worse... How are you feeling now btw?? I'm so much better during the days now, still a bit nauseous in evenings but haven't spewed in like 6 days 🙌

Sorry if I've missed other stuff ... busy day at work today.

There are loads of green/yellow/orange/purple and rainbow baby clothes but they tend to be expensive, ethical and scandi type brands. I get them secondhand! I just got a gorgeous bundle of little green radicals baby clothes for £8 on Vinted. Absolute bargain!
My first wore every colour of the rainbow and hardly anything grey or beige.

@MamaMenna my dungaree dresses were off Vinted as well sorry, not much help. One is frugi and I think the other is Jojo Maman Bébé.

cryingbabymess · 10/10/2022 15:17

We couldn't get that good photos at our scan so not sure if anyone can guess from these photos? Just under 4 weeks until we find out 🥰

Just catching up on the rest of the thread

what an amazing photo @cheekysausage they are such cuties!

that’s really hard when your DH is more worried than excited at times @Cuppasoupmonster and I can completely see why that is so frustrating. I agree it’s more of a male thing to have the worrying hat on but I can see you just want him to be excited right now! Hope the dog walk helps to clear your mind a bit x

ccmalik · 10/10/2022 16:01

So I found this pregnancy precautions online it seems very helpful.
Let me know what you think about it or what your advice is on it Here is the precaution

Scan went well except that it was super hard to get a measurement and decent pictures because my womb tilts backwards, she tried for so long! Couldn’t get a nuchal reading either so can only do the screening based on bloods which I’m slightly worried about. Anyway, can anyone see a nub and have any thoughts?

Just love seeing all these scans!

How many sets of twins do we have in the group now? Identical twins how lovely 🥰✨
