@Skylark1990 I really hope we all get the birth we want, unfortunately sometimes babies have other ideas! I'm trying to be a bit more pragmatic this time because it might all be taken out of my hands anyway if I have any pregnancy complications.

The flutters are so exciting aren't they? I was also second guessing them for a while but I think they have to be the baby now! Last time I didn't feel anything until about 17 weeks when the baby felt like it stomped on my cervix!

I love Lindex, all their kids and baby stuff is organic cotton and they have lovely colourful stuff that isn't as bright as things like Frugi.

Gilm0reGirl · 10/10/2022 09:56

@ancienthouse I know exactly what you mean with all of your story. Mine isn't the same but the feelings are similar.

What did make me smile during my bullied into induction though was I had a lovely midwife towards the end and I was also contracting back to back, loved the gas and air but I was only 2cm and she was like "the drip is on the highest setting, you won't be able to walk around anyway as you're on a monitor (no wireless 😩) so why don't we get an epidural, Edward is on the floor and he's our specialist, normally works in the NICU, and he's lovely" so I agreed

I kid you not in walked a perfect replica of Tom Hiddleston with the voice to match, he could have injected anything into me at this point I wouldn't have cared 😂 my husband knew as soon as he saw him I'd like him and do whatever he said 😂

Longbin · 10/10/2022 09:59

@ancienthouse @Skylark1990 I still have no movements at 15 weeks. With my daughter I didn't feel anything until 24, and often couldn't feel her kicking because my placenta was at the front. Tempted to get yet another scan just to see where my placenta is now 😂

ancienthouse · 10/10/2022 10:02

@Gilm0reGirl my epidural guy was also quite handsome! I thought he was like some sort of angel who came and made me feel better.

It must be quite a rewarding job at times!

ancienthouse · 10/10/2022 10:08

@Longbin I've had anterior placenta both times now (I asked at my 12 week scan last week and she said it's at the front but sort of wrapped to the side a bit, although it can still move as it grows) but apparently my babies are just strong kickers! At my 20 week scan last time I could see the kicks on the screen at the same time as I felt them which was so odd!

Gilm0reGirl · 10/10/2022 10:43

@ancienthouse I forgot to ask where my placenta was sitting! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'd made a mental note to as well. Baby brain. Have to ask at the 20 week scan.

Yes I'd agree it must be a rewarding job, I know I was very grateful when that epidural kicked in!

Longbin · 10/10/2022 11:02

@ancienthouse I'm the opposite, can see mental kicks on the screen but feel absolutely nothing!

Skylark1990 · 10/10/2022 11:02

I also loved my epidural doctor! He wasn't particularly handsome but he was so so lovely and put me at ease 🥰 he also looked after me after the birth when I was in theatre and let me play music on his phone, and managed all the emergency stuff and I had the pph. I always thought about sending a card but never got round to it!

How weird, I loved my anaesthetist too!

He was so kind and caring, explained the EMCS really calmly for me and told them to wait for my husband to come in first. He stroked my hair to soothe me while it was happening and distracted me by talking about loads of random unrelated things, yet still had full control of the entire room.

He was an incredible guy. I was panicking so much and he put me at so much ease. I also should have sent a card but never got round to it!

Skylark1990 · 10/10/2022 11:20

@ancienthouse The flutters are exciting but I'm still not sure if I'm actually feeling them! I am hoping In Next couple weeks they get stronger

@Longbin yes mad how much they move on the screen and that we can't feel it isn't it! I had an anterior placenta last time too but it's at their back this time

Gilm0reGirl · 10/10/2022 11:22

@PuddingBear my anaesthetist for my EMC was brilliant too, he had met me almost 14hrs earlier when I'd had the emergency button pushed and I nearly needed up in a cat 1 knocked out with a general section, and he remembered me and reintroduced himself so calmly in theatre. He was brilliant when I started being sick and made me feel less embarrassed and chatted to me throughout the procedure explaining it which was a blessing as the surgeon was not happy to see me there as she'd basically been trying to keep me out of theatre so wasn't very kind.

I'm sold, anaesthetists are the best!

PuddingBear · 10/10/2022 11:32

@Gilm0reGirl Must be an anaesthetist thing 😂

So it turns out getting a cute 12 week scan pic with twins is near on impossible 🤣 If anyone has any clue where to look for a nub please take your guesses! All was fine, both measuring exactly where they should be. NT measurement at 1.1mm which I think is okay?

I’ve definitely felt movement! Apparently it’s common to feel it earlier in a second pregnancy. I can’t feel I through my skin though, more like flutters too low down to be my stomach!

Great advice on here!
@Skylark1990 i hadn’t even made the connection between vaginal exams and infection but now you say it, it seems so obvious. I will definitely refuse these unless baby becomes unhappy. Or I’m confident I’m into active labour.

I think if I threatened a home birth with my medical state they would have me arrested! 😆 however I will use it as a bargaining tool to get into the MLU if the pool isn’t available on CDU. Like @ancienthouse our MLU is in the same building as the CDU so any transfers would be super speedy.

Of course this might all be pie in the sky if I need the drip again, but on the off chance ARM works or I go into labour naturally before 38 weeks I would like to know I have something nice arranged.

Fingers crossed we all get what we want!

Great photo! I’m fairly confident twin 1 is a girl, and I’m thinking boy for twin 2. So one of each. How exciting!

Sorry @Cuppasoupmonster should have mentioned I found out today they are identical…so will be two boys or two girls 🤣

PuddingBear · 10/10/2022 11:51

Lovely scan photos everyone! I don’t think I’ve seen a twin scan before @cheekysausage , how lovely 🥰

My scan is tomorrow when I think I’ll be 12+3. So nervous, but also excited and very relieved DH can come this time.

Gilm0reGirl · 10/10/2022 11:51

@cheekysausage aw it's amazing to see! But yes I can imagine each baby wanted to do their own thing. Can't help with nub as I'm not good at it if it's not really obvious but my measurements were also 1.1mm and the sonographer said that was a really really good measurement.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/10/2022 11:53

PS when are you all thinking of starting maternity leave? I’m thinking 34 weeks this time. I started at 36 weeks with DD with the aim of having a week to relax before the induction but I finished on the Friday and ended up being induced on the Monday 🙄

Oh wow! 2 girls for sure!

AliceinSlumberland · 10/10/2022 11:58

@cheekysausage wowwww what a fab pic!! How amazing 💕

Today is dragging soooo much and still nearly another four hours to go till my scan 😭 sorry don’t mind my moaning haha.

Im lucky in that I can manage my workload so that I’m pretty much sat down at a computer for tbe last couple of weeks so think I’ll try and stick it out till about 38 weeks if possible or maybe take a weeks leave at 37. Worked out my mat leave pay the other day and it’s so depressing.

PuddingBear · 10/10/2022 11:59

@Cuppasoupmonster Last time I was off from 32 weeks with preeclampsia. Assuming all is well this time (and I’m planning an ELCS) I think I’ll probably take from 35 weeks.

I only work part time now after my first but it’s a stressful and physically demanding job so I don’t think I’ll cope any longer than that, plus it’ll be nice to have a few weeks just me and my toddler.

alwaysseeingstars · 10/10/2022 11:59

@cheekysausage oh wow, identical twins! they'll keep you on your toes 😂definitely 1.1mm is a great measurement, mine was 1.6 and the sonographer was really happy and my combined results with the bloods, age etc came back as a 1 in 5000 chance.
@Cuppasoupmonster not sure really, but probably 2 weeks before the due date - not sure what the 'norm' is? I'm consultant-led though so may have to play it by ear as to how the pregnancy goes 😊

alwaysseeingstars · 10/10/2022 12:01

@AliceinSlumberland I know what you mean about the mat pay, we're really worried about it as I only get statutory and I'm the main earner 😖

Longbin · 10/10/2022 12:04

@Cuppasoupmonster I worked right until the end last time too. This time I think I will go at 37 weeks to spend some time with DD
