@AliceinSlumberland my sister had NO symptoms. To the point she got herself worked up and went to the GP. She sailed through the pregnancy and had a very healthy 8lb baby boy! By comparison I was sick as a dog and had lots of problems. Half of women that are pregnant don’t get any nausea or sickness (if I remember rightly) so please don’t worry. A healthy scan is THE indicator that all is well!

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:15

Isn’t this the best group!! I love seeing the excitement build and the knowledge/experience sharing.

i think all our babies are very fortunate to have such open hearted and caring mommas. ✨✨

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 19:17

It’s lovely @Pommy1 ! I’m a relatively early starter with kids in my social circle, my best friend has a little boy but we’re the only ones really - it’s great to be able to share the experience with others. It’s a magical time but also worrying and it pushes you to all your emotional extremes, so great to have that support ❤️

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:21

@Cuppasoupmonster its such a unique time isn’t it! And the people you gain comfort from are the ones who you can find some parallels with. I have always worked in corporate until covid and my sector is so career driven, few of us have children, so I don’t really have new mums around me either. I also don’t have blood related family around. It’s nice to know if I did struggle that this place is here to share with you guys 💜💜💜

Hi all.

Have been quietly watching but wanted the all clear from screening before joining the community properly.

So had my scan and bloods last week at 12+1 where NT was 2.45 so have been worried about results since. Spoke with screening midwife today (called out of panic!) and results as follows:

Downs 1:750
Edwards and Pataus 1:14000

Obviously both 'low risk' as per NHS about I'm a bit disappointed with the Downs result, although not shocked with that NT measurement. Have a background of health anxiety and catastrophising, and after consideration DH and I have just agreed to book a NIPT privately tomorrow.

Feeling conflicted, worried, guilty (DP wants to take the 'low risk' and celebrate)... gah, it's so hard.

If I have a pregnancy in future I will just do a NIPT at 10 weeks I think.

Hope everyone is well, and that I can join in the happiness in a few weeks once NIPT results back ☺️

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 19:27

Hi Tattly! Fingers crossed you’ll be back with a good result and a sigh of relief in a week or two.

Not sure if you read my post earlier but my NT was 2.3 - ‘normal’ but very high for normal. My odds came out at 1 in 2300. Which is good, and I know that, but my numbers were a bit crazy - Papp A at 1.9 and HCG at 3 point something 🤯

I’ve booked the NIPT for peace of mind, as I had a couple of soft markers in my pregnancy with DD and spent the months worrying, unable to justify the £400. Now I know it’s worth it to be able to relax.

1 in 750 is still a good result and, based on your age, probably not too dissimilar from your background odds anyway? I know at 30 mine were 1 in 900 ish.

Good luck either way and hope to see you soon xx

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:30

@tattlytote its great you are being active if you need that reassurance, I think it’s invaluable and isn’t it great we have these things available (albeit eye wateringly expensive). I had my NIPT privately last week as the nhs system is rather solid. We get the results on Wednesday.

let us know how you are feeling, and how you get on xx

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:33

@Cuppasoupmonster my odds are 1 in 80 which makes me rather eager to get past this phase, gotta say.

Im super positive but if you can all send a bit of glitter on the wind I’ll accept it 🤗

tattlytote · 07/10/2022 19:35

Thanks @Cuppasoupmonster and @Pommy1 for your supportive words. Wishing you all the best @Pommy1 - it's easy to reassure when it's not 'your' risk but there's a 79/80 chance it's all good and I have my fingers crossed for you x

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:36

@tattlytote i had a 0% chance of getting pregnant so I’m incredibly fortunate… I feel karma is hanging out nearby and got me. That little bean is totally bad ass, we think he/she has got this 🤞🏼

tattlytote · 07/10/2022 19:38

@Pommy1 totally love this attitude and approach, good for you and will look out for your results on Wednesday ☺️

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 19:38

1 in 80 is less than 2% Pommy! Do you mind if I ask your age if not too personal?

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:41

@tattlytote i celebrate every day I’m pregnant as as cringe as that sounds, it wasn’t supposed to happen (I’m that person still celebrating we aren’t locked up anymore 🤣🤣)

thank you for being so lovely 🤗

@Cuppasoupmonster no secret, I’m 42 my love🦖

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 19:42

Ah! Well, your background risk is 1 in 63 - so, if it helps, your chances are better than those of an ‘average’ woman your age!

tattlytote · 07/10/2022 19:43

Where can I find these background chances please?

KennAdams · 07/10/2022 19:48

@Gxw0232 I love your scan picture! It looks he or she are waving. 😍

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 19:51

@Cuppasoupmonster i googled the 1 in 80 so I might have been misinformed there! I’m only just 42 so maybe I’m in the middle 🥴

tattlytote · 07/10/2022 19:56

@Cuppasoupmonster thanks for sharing that, it's really interesting, and yes I'll be nearly 30 at term so I'm only a smidge off the background risk. Had assumed I was much worse than average. Really shocked at how high all the background risks are to be honest!

Springblooms08 · 07/10/2022 20:01

@AliceinSlumberland please please don’t worry - your great scan at 10 weeks is all you need to focus on. I didn’t feel very pregnant when I had my nhs scan at 11+2 - I don’t have sore boobs anymore, haven’t for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve only had very mild nausea throughout my pregnancy so far. My main symptom has been exhaustion and headaches which eased off around week 10/11 but are back now at week 12! Totally normal to have no symptoms at all or for them to come and go. I was also nervous before my scan but had absolutely no reason to be :)

Springblooms08 · 07/10/2022 20:16

@tattlytote might it help at all to think of it expressed as a percentage? If you think that’s a 0.13% chance or a 99.87% chance of baby being totally fine, it might feel better to see it that way :)

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 20:22

I think it’s better to think in percentages for sure. Mine is 1.81% and if I put a bet on a horse with that chance of winning you wouldn’t expect to get rich .

Here’s hoping! 💪🏼 Come on little bean!!

Springblooms08 · 07/10/2022 20:28

@Pommy1 absolutely! As much as possible we have to think positively when the odds are so hugely in our favour.

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 20:30

@Springblooms08 always a positive, and whilst there is positivity there is hope, right? I think it’s also lovely we get a gender reveal to look forward to so I’m excited for that!

xalexandra · 07/10/2022 20:45

Does anyone else get terrible headaches in the evening? I seem to be getting them all the time now and always a little apprehensive about taking too many paracetamols! 🤦🏼‍♀️
