@Cuppasoupmonster how long have you waited since your bloods/scan? Mine was last Friday and I’m getting impatient!

xalexandra · 07/10/2022 10:26

I had my 12 week scan today 🥰🥰🥰

The scan was on Tuesday. That does seem like a long wait! Can you give them a call?
Scratch my previous comment, I’ve booked the NIPT for next Saturday. DH said we may as well rather than the gender scan and then at least my mind will be put at rest.

Skylark1990 · 07/10/2022 10:43

@Cuppasoupmonster that's a v good result, I had something similar DD when I was 31. About 1 in 2300 or something. Honestly I had no idea sometimes it's like 1 in 100,000!! It's crazy how much variation there is.

@xalexandra congrats on your scan! Do you want a guess on the sex? Looks v clear to me!

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 10:50

Yes it’s really not a bad result! I think I’m just anxious as a family friend had a good result and a surprise diagnosis after birth. It’s more that I need certainty rather than because I’m worried about anything in particular if that makes sense?

xalexandra · 07/10/2022 11:07

@Cuppasoupmonster do you think?! Yes! 😍

Yesterday - one day before the 12 week scan, I had a hospital trip to A&E yesterday (what are the chances!) had a massive "leak", felt like I had basically wee'd myself and my knickers were soaked and I don't know much about amniotic fluid but I thought something bad had happened, they did a swab test and apparently was all fine and then the scan today was all healthy so yeah it's been a stressful few days! Xx

ancienthouse · 07/10/2022 11:18

hooray for more successful scans!

I had a rescan today and I've popped my photo in the fb group rather than on here.
The nuchal measurement was 2.1mm so fairly good, I have to wait 10 days for the results unless there's a problem then they'll phone me sooner.

ancienthouse · 07/10/2022 11:20

@Cuppasoupmonster I know what you mean about certainty. If the NIPT was a little cheaper then I'd have just done it at 10 weeks, but it's a lot of money. I'm hoping my screening results come back really low, otherwise I'm going to have the same debate over whether to get NIPT or not!!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 11:20

Good luck @ancienthouse mine was 2.3 so high end of normal - was the same with DD. Sometimes I wish they didn’t overload us with all this info and that they did NIPT as routine on the NHS! So just ‘yes everything’s fine’ and nothing for us to Google!

Skylark1990 · 07/10/2022 11:32

Gosh I have to say, this chat about screening results is making me a bit anxious 😅 I think sometimes ignorance is bliss isn't it. With DD I didn't know what the best measurement was or the range of different results people get and when I got my low risk letter I was happy.

I think the measurement yesterday was average 2mm for us. But she did loads and some came back under 2mm like 1.8 and some came back like 2.2 or something, so I guess it's always going to be an average.

I don't remember what DDs was!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 11:39

dont worry Skylark; I’m sure most people would find my odds absolutely fine and dandy, it’s just that I’m a worrier. Statistics haven’t been very kind to me in general as I have a medical condition which randomly affects something like 1 in every 15,000 people or something 😳 so I’m probably a bit jaded!

Skylark1990 · 07/10/2022 11:44

Thanks @Cuppasoupmonster xx yes since having had 3 consecutive miscarriages which is apparently only 1% of women, I've also felt statistics less reassuring! But trying not to get overcome with worry as it's ultimately not helpful is it. Have to have faith in mine and DHs genes I guess 😂

@xalexandra looks like a little boy to me!

Really lovely to see everyone's cute scans and nub guesses!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 12:14

Just made my first baby purchase, a baby gym as it was down from £60 to £30. Thought that was too good to miss! They’re so expensive 🤯 is anyone else having a 16 week appointment? Apparently they listen to the heartbeat with the Doppler 💕 such a special moment.

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 12:17

Also bought some maternity clothes from Vinted. I spent yesterday evening packing up all the clothes I won’t be able to wear for a year and just kept out the stretchy stuff and big winter jumpers 😆 the thing about being heavily pregnant over winter is you need to buy the expensive stuff jeans/coats etc. Hoping to get those second hand as well as I’m broke at the moment!

xalexandra · 07/10/2022 12:17

@Cuppasoupmonster I have a 16 week appt! No way I didn't know that! 🥰

Skylark1990 · 07/10/2022 12:19

@Cuppasoupmonster I have a 16 week appointment but they don't listen to heartbeat till 24 weeks at my trust! 😕

I really need to get vinted on my phone I've heard great things, and good idea to pack away the unwearable clothes!

LauraA31 · 07/10/2022 12:21

@Cuppasoupmonster i have a 16 week appointment too :) I don’t know when they listen to the heartbeat etc, im just sort of winging it as i go as i have zero idea what to expect at each appointment! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have found loads of good things on vinted recently and saved them- mainly brand new baby stuff like pumps etc but they sell so fast!

PuddingBear · 07/10/2022 12:22

@Cuppasoupmonster Be aware that not all trusts/hospitals will listen to the heartbeat with the Doppler then as it’s still quite early. Mine didn’t. I was much farther along when they offered it but it was lovely to hear 😊

I got put on the monitors every couple of days from 32 weeks last time due to preeclampsia so heard my baby’s heartbeat all the time and it was so magical.

I am also having a 16 week appointment despite second pregnancy due to being high risk. They’re standard in first pregnancy’s but not always in second unless high risk.

ancienthouse · 07/10/2022 12:26

@Cuppasoupmonster thanks! I'm sure NIPT will be routine on the NHS in a few years. If we get a new government that funds it anyway 🙄

@Skylark1990 don't worry, I have quite bad anxiety so worry about everything, usually unnecessarily. I also work in data science so it's just in my nature to want to know all the possible data!

I'm wearing my first Vinted maternity purchase today. I love Vinted at the minute there are some real bargains! Most of my first baby's clothes were secondhand from charity shops and ebay so if I buy anything new for this baby it will probably be secondhand too.

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 12:43

Second hand all the way for me! I’ll get the bulk of baby clothes on Facebook buy & sell and just buy one or two ‘nice’ new outfits for each stage, for photos etc.

Lid88 · 07/10/2022 13:04

Hi all

I’ve been reading all the threads but hadn’t yet posted. Expecting my second mid April and had horrific HG - just starting to be able to function but my god I forgot how hard this is!

I have a 2 year old girl who is bloody lush - a bit of a unicorn to be honest so I’m fully expecting this next one to be satan Grin

I feel convinced this one is a boy but no idea why. I was craving bacon and lucozade during my worst sickness weeks but I’m wondering that that’s just what the body needed. Now it’s all sweet stuff. Shame I can’t keep anything down, I’m literally putting money down the toilet at the minute lol.

I’ve attached my scan pictures from 12+1. Any guesses ? I’m not sure I can actually see a nub!

@Cuppasoupmonster i believe you’re the nub expert around here! X

Hope you’re all doing okay :)

Hey everyone, Just wondered if anyone has had some thing similar happen to them, as im starting to worry. /

LMP was 7th July which would of made me 13 weeks pregnant yesterday (6th October)

I paid for an early scan at what I thought was 8 weeks 4 days, but they measured me at 8 weeks 2 days.

yesterday at my NHS scan I was measured at 13 wks 4 days (4 days ahead going by LMP and 6 days ahead if going by the early reassurance scan date)

Im hoping its no big deal, and the accuracy is off, but i dont know, should i be worried. Is my baby just big?

My first baby (daughter) born in 2014 was 9lb born and on time, (well 40+4) so i wonder if im in for a bigger than average baby anyway?

any advice would be gratefully received, hospital didnt even bat an eyelid. and i was told that everything was very fine.

thanks

Lisa

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 13:52

Hi Lisa

I’ve been put forward a full week, as has Skylark, and was put forward by 5 days in my last pregnancy. It’s really nothing to worry about, it’s more of a worry to measure significantly behind.

I don’t think it means the baby is big, they calculate the GA based on things like limb length compared to the body and stage of development I believe. My baby who was put forward 5 days was a 50th centile baby. I’ve never worried about it!

Ah I’ve just don’t the same. I’ve taken 4 bags of things to the charity shop as they will be sat there for over a year until I can get in them. The rest I’ve put away. I’ve also had to buy bigger summer clothes as I’m working overseas for 5 months, then winter stuff for when I get back to the U.K. 💰 I can’t wait to get into prams 🤣🤣🤣
