Have you all told people you're pregnant yet? I really want to tell people in person because Covid pooh-poohed that opportunity when I was expecting DC1. But...DH is going away for 2 weeks from tomorrow and his parents are coming to stay with me end of next week while he's away (not my choice!!) and understandably DH wants to tell them himself so I can't say anything then. Our respective parents also have a habit of calling and speaking to each other when there's any 'big news' so DH doesn't want me to tell my own parents either while he's away in case my mum calls his mum about it. Then I'm seeing my sister at the weekend but my parents will be around too (they're gatecrashing) so I can't say anything then either!

So I just feel like I can't tell anyone for another couple of weeks except my boss for risk assessment purposes and I just want to tell people now!

I am aware this is a nice problem to have 🙃

@Margo34 we told friends a few weeks ago and our kids, but other than that, and one sister in law, we have no family... My husband is estranged from his mother and my parents are dead and am estranged from my aiblings. My husband told some of his employees and I've told you ladies here but that's about it... We do have really good friends all over the world because we're both prior military and of course they are all always excited whenever we announce a new addition to the tribe so we still get a lot of warm welcomings for baby. We normally would just start telling people immediately whenever we found out but after having several losses and the horrid conversations that followed where we had to untell folks, we waited til about 10 weeks this time...

MamaMenna · 07/10/2022 05:11

So many messages, just catching up and checking in! Congrats to everyone with lovely healthy scans, so great reading so much happy news 😊 Mine isn't til 17th, I'm due right at end of April so having to be patient. I'm having extra tests done due to being 35+, I have no idea if they will offer to tell me the gender but I hope so because I am so curious to know. I don't think I have a huge preference this time round, there are pros to both boy / girl, I just want to find out and start naming and planning. I do wonder if I will feel pleased / disappointed when they tell me, I don't think I will know if I have a secret preference until that point!

limoncelloo · 07/10/2022 06:07

@Cuppasoupmonster yes I've got a confirmed girl too 👧💗

We could start a due date list for the top of the next thread with a little 💗 or 💙 for those who know? Used to be done on a forum I was on years ago with my other pregnancies x

DBS94 · 07/10/2022 06:25

@limoncelloo that's a great idea! We find out the gender in 2.5 weeks ✨🎉

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 06:34

I don’t have parents around and we Video called my husbands parents as we couldn’t get to them in person. Other than that I’ve only told my three closest friends, one of which I told her the very second I got a double line as I’d told her the month before that my results came back as infertile, early menopause and also refused IVF as there was zero chance of pregnancy. So her, and the whole of Starbucks new right away 🤣🤣

We will tell a small number of people next week once the NIPT test results are in. They might even come today but unlikely.

DBS94 · 07/10/2022 06:49

@Pommy1 brilliant 😂 that's so lovely!! We were trying for a while and had been referred to fertility clinic when we got our positive! I always had an idea in my mind of how I would tell my husband and it would be a lovely tender moment... I did my usual monthly test expecting it to be negative and ran out the bathroom in tears with my tights still round my ankles and a soggy test in hand 🤣 🤣

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 07:02

@DBS94 that had me howling! What a moment!

i was slightly horrified I’d been so caught up in the moment and put the rest down on the table after announcing to the whole of Starbucks. Then I realised people eat their cheese toasties on the so spent the next 5 minutes with hand sanitiser gel feeling awful I was the worst human ever 🤣🤣

the doctor said if I got pregnant theyd be writing books on me. 6 weeks later I messaged to say “urmmn could I come in to see you? I have a £4 piece of plastic that says you need to write a book” 🤣 she’s really lovely and I keep her up to date. I’ll be so happy to get the NIPT results back.

Im not so ‘worried’, more eager I think. I’m high risk and it’s a bit of a pregnancy milestone when you are over 40. Send all the passive vibes! Xxxx

AliceinSlumberland · 07/10/2022 07:04

@Margo34 bit different to other replies but we’ve told pretty much everyone. I told a couple of really close friends straight away, then my parents at 6 weeks. Told DH’s family after our 7 week scan, then told work and work colleagues who I am close to after 10 week scan. Told my brother and sister this weekend and all that’s left is my grandparents really who I’m going to tell this weekend. Bit worried about telling them before the 12 week scan, which is Monday, but we’ve had two scans where everything has been fine so whilst the worst could happen, I think at this point having told a few people will be the least of my worries. I’m going to post something on social media in the next few weeks as I have a lot of wider friends through a hobby and it’s just a much quicker way for everyone to know lol.

So so lovely to see all the 12 weeks scans, I was officially 12 weeks yesterday which feels like a big milestone 💕 Still struggling with tiredness but no other symptoms at all really, even the sore boobs have gone!

AliceinSlumberland · 07/10/2022 07:05

Ahhh @Pommy1 what an absolutely amazing story 💕

ancienthouse · 07/10/2022 07:08

I've told close family and friends, which has been really nice. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow. The most important person I haven't told yet is DD, we're waiting a few more weeks.

Both times I'd been planning to hold off telling people until 12 or even 20 weeks, but it didn't work out that way because I was so sick it was obvious whenever anyone saw me.

ncbn1 · 07/10/2022 07:22

@Cuppasoupmonster youre the only one that’s said girl so far! The ultrasound tech said to my OH that she thinks she’d seen on the ultrasound what it was but wouldn’t give any clues 😭 my 20 week isn5 until end of November and I’m not sure I can wait that long!

OttilieKnackered · 07/10/2022 08:29

I’m not sure if I can even see a nub. Any experts around?

Pommy1 · 07/10/2022 08:29

@Cuppasoupmonster one the nhs schedule I wouldn’t find out until December. I was going to buy the £89 gender reveal test you can get but then learned about early NIPT testing which includes it so went for that (NHS NIPT would be week 16ish and too far asking for us we felt).

Oooh yes and 💛 for those who don’t know or having a surprise?

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 09:24

@Pommy1 brilliant story that would’ve brightened my day if I had been on the next table 😂

Ive told all family and friends and my line manager and a couple of work colleagues that I’m close to outside of work. So basically everyone 🤪 the HG made it impossible to hide - I couldn’t see anyone and was signed off work, so best to tell the truth there than complicated excuses that made people suspect/worry anyway.

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 09:24

@OttilieKnackered i can’t see a nub but it looks very like my daughter’s scan at that point!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 09:28

DH told his friends about me being pregnant with DD when they were playing pool, he got a round in then asked them to toast the new arrival by holding up the scan picture. They’re playing pool again tomorrow so he’s asked me to hold off FB announcements until then so he can tell them In the traditional way!

Skylark1990 · 07/10/2022 09:28

@Pommy1 amazing story about finding out 🥰 @DBS94 yours is hilarious 😆🥰

@Margo34 I've told most people now, all close fam and friends, but I'm originally from overseas so have a bunch of friends and family who don't live in the UK who I need to tell and not sure whether to do a social media announcement or not. I think I'll probably do one but I'll wait a week or so. I would feel the same as you - impatient to tell! Although if you want to do it in person I guess it's weighing that up against the desire to tell quickly.

14 weeks today woohoo hello second trimester. Sickness much better these days too, still nauseous a bit in afternoon and evening but haven't spewed for 3 days now woop! And am even managing to stay up till about 8:30/9 on average rather than going to bed at 6:30/7 😆 hope this trend continues.

@Cuppasoupmonster ooooh thank you. What about it looks similar if you don’t mind saying?

We’d be thrilled either way but I think especially thrilled if it’s a girl!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 09:33

@OttilieKnackered she had no nub either, and that shape of lower body with the lines pointing downwards. How many weeks are you?

OttilieKnackered · 07/10/2022 09:34

@Cuppasoupmonster the scan was at 13+1!

Gilm0reGirl · 07/10/2022 09:50

Loving all these scan pictures and nub theory guesses! So interesting

LauraA31 · 07/10/2022 09:59

Morning ladies, hope everybody is okay!

We booked our gender scan yesterday, 12th November! We are using window to the womb and they fill up so fast so thought we best get in when appointments were available! Managed to get one at 0930 so it’s one of the earliest in the day, id not have been able to wait until afternoon 😂
We are allowed 5 guests so taking my parents with us to find out in the moment..
Feel we have booked too early but we are 11+2 now and baby was super active yesterday, so hopefully all continues well!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 10:14

Just got my scan report back! All fine. The triple test came out at 1 in 2300 which I guess is good, but I got 1 in 8000 for my daughter. Could this be because I’m 4 years older? I probably won’t have the NIPT with that result.
