KashaSarrasin · 07/03/2008 16:17

MumofMonsters has had her little one!!!! The birth announcement thread is here

Yay - Congratulations MoM!!

KashaSarrasin · 07/03/2008 16:23

lol Ellie x-post!

neenz one of each!!! You have a very optimistic DH by the way!

Welcome smilesattheweekend and lots of sticky vibes

My cough is much better now, and the discharge seems to have stopped (fingers crossed). I've been doing pelvic floor exercises like mad all week and fortunately have started to see an improvement now (!) .

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 07/03/2008 17:50

LOL at "bisexual beans" Popsy!

In first trimester I just kept poking my boobs to check they were still sore! I was really sick but even that came and went and there were times when I was sure it was all over.

Trust your bodies ladies!

Kaz1967 · 07/03/2008 17:57

Neenz keep telling myself to but it is hard sometimes I keep trying to tell my self how lucky I am too yep it's taken a long time but all these Mums who have gone through loosing one pregnancy after another it is hard enough grieving for one child and those lost dreams. Keep telling my self not to complain and not to worry.

DonDons · 07/03/2008 18:08

Fab news Neenz - and another lovely name - congrats to you all

Ellie, Egg also has her head down too so it'll be a race to the finish line for the two of us! Also had nasty final pre birth anti D today - hate injections....

welcome smiles - healthy and well...

Hang on in there ronshar...

Off to antenatal class tomorrow which I am dreading - am not comfortable in those types of situations and usually hide in the corner being quiet whereas DH will happily talk to anyone and everyone...also told by midwife today that we will be having the big breastfeeding discussion at next appt... BF terrifies me....

Have a good weekend everyone!

Kaz1967 · 07/03/2008 18:18

DonDons Breast is only best IF is is best for MUM AND baby. If it is making you feel really stressed then you need to ask if is any good for YOU. And I write that as someone who believes in breastfeeding and has taught it.

EllieG · 08/03/2008 15:11

I'm not getting anti-D dondons even though am rhesus negative. Should I be?

Kaz1967 · 08/03/2008 15:42

I am rh neg too as far as I am aware (looking this up in my notes) you should get anti d if you have a bleed (sensitising event) 28 weeks, 34 weeks and delivery. Well that is the policy in This area anyway

Hope123 · 08/03/2008 18:09

so pleased that after weeks of anxious waiting we were able to see our little beanie moving around and growing well at 12 weeks..so reassuring after a horrible m/c last time..

Fingers crossed that things stay good.My little girl is over the moon but only two,
so not really convinced she will actually have a brother or sister soon

DonDons · 08/03/2008 18:11

as far as I know you should have 2 anti d injections during the pregnancy - 28 and 34 weeks and then another straight after the birth. This protects you and the baby in case there is any crossing of your bloods. The anti D stops your blood rejecting the baby's (I think... :-)

DonDons · 08/03/2008 18:23

Ellie - this has some more info re anti-D etc HTH

Kaz1967 · 08/03/2008 18:53

anti D stops you making antibodies against rh pos it normally does not effect that pregnancy but effects following ones.

If you do not have it there is the possibility that your body recognises a rh pos baby as alien and starts destroying it's blood cells. causes all sorts of problems but most babies are born with a degree of jaundice and anaemia what need treating in neonatal intensive care units with phototherapy an sometimes blood, some babies are quite severe and I have known one which had an in utero transfusion. That is very rare today as most women are give anti D

Kaz1967 · 08/03/2008 19:03

The NHS Direct site is fairlt good for info too www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=319&sectionId=1

EllieG · 08/03/2008 19:40

Great news hope!

Thanks for info about anti-D, will read up and maybe check out next week when go to ante natal. Is my first baby (to this stage) so perhaps that's why they didn't give to me. Plus have had no bleeds.

EllieG · 08/03/2008 19:46

Ah, looks like it being the first birth have had is reason. Will stop fretting.

Kaz1967 · 08/03/2008 20:00

Should not matter EllieG. This is my first pregnancy to get to this stage too I had anti d when I miscarried I will have it at 28, 34, and at delivery and if I have a sensitising event. That is the protocol for giving it even if I had not had the miscarriage and this was my only pregnancy I would still be getting it at those times, it is offered/given at those times because they have been shown to reduce the likely hood of rhesus disease in further pregnancies.

EllieG · 08/03/2008 22:00

Hmm, thanks for the info kaz, will ask again I think, can't hurt just to make sure can it? They already think am neurotic so one more thing won't make any difference!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 10:39

feeling a bit crap this morning . Had some pinkish discharge last night and again a tiny bit this morning. I'm trying not to worry as I had this with DS and again with DD, but equally had it with both of the mcs too. I feel a bit crampy; well not crampy, but just not quite right, but I had a bit of a dodgy tummy yesterday so not sure if it's that. I also had to do an emergency stop in the car on Friday so wondering if that might have dislodged something?

I wish I could just sleep through the whole first trimester.

Will phone the EPU tomorrow, but part of me is worried at what they might tell me. The not knowing, although unbearable, is slightly less unbearable than the alternative, iyswim.

DH has banished me to the sofa for the day, but we all know that is about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Trying to think "healthy and well", but it is extremely hard.

Kaz1967 · 09/03/2008 10:57

EllieG Just found the NICE guidelines for you you can download them from here

alittlebitshy · 09/03/2008 13:47

Daisy - hugs!
keep thinking positive -and enjoy your sofa day!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 14:43

thanks ishy I'm feeling a better better and the nastiness down below appears to have stopped. I'm thinking that if anything nasty was happening it would have done so by this time. I'm worried about the fact that it's only been 9mo since my C-section, and the effect that that might be having on my uterus. Not sure what the minimum/optimum time is between pregnancies after a section. Any advice gratefully received.
