@Chocolat I have the bb hug me pillow and think it's great, but I haven't tried anything else to compare...

Chocolat · 02/10/2022 13:27

@MamaMenna thanks! I have decided to go for it, seeing it as an investment 😅

ancienthouse · 02/10/2022 13:42

@Badassbreastfeeder85 I love your name!
I'm going for my flu jab in a couple of weeks then will get a covid jab after that.
I had flu jab last pregnancy too. I think it makes sense as we're mostly pregnant over winter and they're predicting a bad flu season and another covid wave. I might start wearing a mask a bit more as well.

I'm 37 too and also worried about everything!

@Skylark1990 - I am absolutely not an expert on this but I have a 2.5 year old who is not potty trained and it is a conversation every parent I know is having. 2 is a fine age but certainly on the young end so if you feel like maybe she isn't ready, you have plenty of time to try again. That is likely what I would do in your case if it felt really like it wasn't working and I'd given it a week +. It is maybe worth figuring out if there is some hard deadline in your life (eg nursery rules) and waiting until she is older. Also, I was reading the other day that pooing is way harder than pee and one suggestion was having your little one ask you for a nappy when they want to poo, having them poo into the nappy then taking the nappy off. So, it is not in the toilet (which they sometimes find difficult) but you aren't having them wear a nappy all the time. Best of luck with it! I think everyone just muddles along with it - I feel muddled about when we should try, even!

Ah I’ve missed so many posts! Will have a big read of them later. Another day spent mainly in bed, I was so hopeful for the first couple of days taking promethazine but it seems to have stopped working as I’m feeling/being sick again. I just broke down to DH and said I wish I hadn’t got pregnant again 😞 which I know isn’t true but I’m feeling pretty desperate at this point, I can’t remember the last time I had a normal day doing normal things. Or even got a reasonable night’s sleep.

Looks like we’re nearly at ‘new thread’ time 🥰 and I’m officially over a third of the way through 🥳 goodbye shitty first trimester!

Is anyone waiting/waited for their first scan to get their blood tests from NHS for DS etc rather than pay for a private NIPT? I'm really torn about what to do

Cuppasoupmonster · 02/10/2022 17:57

I am @DBS94 i can’t afford £400 for the test right now. Will see what the NHS testing throws up.

chasingtherainbow1 · 02/10/2022 18:06

@DBS94 I waited until my scan. They told me the NT measurement and I'm waiting on the results of the bloods. The NT was 1.3mm so I'm keeping everything crossed that it's ok!

PuddingBear · 02/10/2022 18:12

@DBS94 Most people don’t pay for the NIPT tests

DBS94 · 02/10/2022 18:19

I think I'm going to hang off too, private is so expensive! I feel like each milestone brings so much anxiety. Dating scan on Tuesday and I'm so excited but also full of nerves! X

chasingtherainbow1 · 02/10/2022 18:37

@DBS94 I know what you mean. You get to a certain point and feel relieved and then the next minute you're nervous until the next milestone. I said I'd be more relaxed after my dating scan but I'll be 14 weeks on Tuesday and I'm already counting down the days until 16 weeks for a private scan!

Chocolat · 02/10/2022 18:49

@DBS94 makes sense to wait for the NHS screening as if you come back as high risk you’d be offered NIPT for free anyway (well think it depends on the hospital).

Chocolat · 02/10/2022 18:51

@chasingtherainbow1 yes feel like this too, i wish I could just be at the end of the pregnancy already and all the uncertainty would be resolved 😅. I’ve never actually wished time away like this before

LauraA31 · 02/10/2022 18:51

@DBS94 im waiting for the scan too, thankfully our hospital offers the NIPT for free if the results come back high.
Im so nervous for the scan on Thursday but excited too!! X

Has anybody had allergies develop since finding out they were pregnant?

I have a house rabbit who is 6.5 years old and she is wonderful, fully toilet trained and even has her own bedroom haha; she is my absolute little angel and i have never had allergies towards her. I do have allergies to sawdust etc so she has bedding completely dust free..
Since finding out im pregnant i struggle to spend time with her, her fur makes my eyes itch and go red and she makes me sneeze and my nose stream!
Im so sad about it because she has incurable cancer anyway and who knows how long she has left, but the last three months ive not been able to spend any time with her without having a flare up!
I sat with her this afternoon for half an hour and she was mainly running around upstairs and my eyes are only just calming down- I have some medication from the doctor which is safe in pregnancy but it doesn’t help at all….

Hoping this is because of pregnancy and not long term, boyfriend is spending loads of time with bunny but she doesn’t like him as much as me 😂
Anybody else finding they now seem to have allergies to new things?

chasingtherainbow1 · 02/10/2022 19:02

I@Chocolat haha glad I'm not the only one! Talk about wishing your life away 😂

Is anyone having a private gender scan at 16 weeks? I think I could wait until 20 weeks for the gender but I'd like another scan between dating scan and 20 week scan so feel like I might as well!

LauraA31 · 02/10/2022 19:03

@chasingtherainbow1 we are having a private gender scan 🙂
We booked an early scan with window to the womb but because we bled we were seen through EPU; window to the womb put our deposit on hold and told us to ring back and re-book if all went well so we have saved the deposit for the gender scan!
Hoping to have it at the start of November 😅

Private clinics also tend to be more accurate as they’ll spend a lot of time in that ‘area’ making sure their estimate is the right one - NHS scans are for medical reasons so tend to be a cursory look and in my experience, occasionally wrong!

Yes we will be booking one I think at around 17 weeks 😊 I’ll book after the 12 week scan if all goes well as you have to pay a deposit at our local clinic.

DBS94 · 02/10/2022 19:17

Yup I'm going to have a private gender scan too! Is 16 weeks the standard or is it best to wait a little longer for accuracy? Can't believe it's potentially only 3.5 weeks until I know the sex!! Eeeek!

Cuppasoupmonster · 02/10/2022 19:18

I would wait until 17 just to avoid them saying it’s ever-so-slightly too early, but that’s me! It’s a great moment 🥰

lj2022 · 02/10/2022 19:24

@DBS94 I would say 16 weeks would be fine, I have a friend who had to have an emergency scan at 15 weeks and she even found out then. I think they say 16 weeks as by that point they can really tell. I'm the same as you I should be able to find out 3 weeks tomorrow 🤞

chasingtherainbow1 · 02/10/2022 19:40

That's great that more of you will be finding out! My local one says from 15 week but I'll probably wait until 16.5 just to be sure! So we have about 2.5 weeks left.

We're both hoping for a boy but tbh if it's a girl I'd be happy too. I just hope my partner doesn't look too disappointed when they say.

Anyone good with skull theory? We've been told already that the nub isn't visible but I can't make my mind up about the skull. This was at 12w6d last week

Talking about gender, is anyone having a gender reveal party. Just wondering do you find out before and then surprise family/friends or is it more common to find out at the same time as everyone else?

Chocolat · 02/10/2022 20:35

@chasingtherainbow1 i think girl based on the skull theory!
