grim question but is anyone else fed up of pregnancy discharge 😷

i’m having to change my underwear a couple of times a day otherwise I end up all sticky and itchy 😳 another side effect I could definitely do without

AliceinSlumberland · 01/10/2022 13:36

I feel so so reassured when you guys say you’re tired too. Honestly I feel so lazy sometimes!

@Cuppasoupmonster i definitely have a lot more than normal 😳

MamaMenna · 01/10/2022 13:37

I haven't got that delightful symptom yet, but I do get it now monthly since having dd and never had it before, it's annoying

MamaMenna · 01/10/2022 13:39

@AliceinSlumberland for me it's not only that I'm tired, I just can't be arsed about doing anything too, like mentally it's just too much effort. So then I feel really lazy 😅

ancienthouse · 01/10/2022 13:48

@AliceinSlumberland it should get better! In my first pregnancy I was so tired I was falling asleep at work. But in the second trimester I was super productive and energetic. I'm hoping I will be again this time!

Margo34 · 01/10/2022 14:54

@DBS94 @MamaMenna @AliceinSlumberland ahhh I'm tired too! I work part-time and find it so much more manageable than when I worked FT pregnant with DC1, even though looking after a toddler is full on! I've stuck the TV onway more than I'd like to admit 😔

DC1 is going through a cot-naps-are-for-losers phase atm...but it does mean I now get to lie down with DC1 in my bed and we'll both nap together for an hour which hugely helps 😍

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 14:57

Yes I’m 13+5 and do feel a lot better in myself and less tired so there’s hope for the second trimester 😀.

In other news I opted for the 12 week screening, thinking I’m 28 and healthy and it will just reassure me. My DS risk although classed as low risk came back at 1 in 300 which is way higher than it should be for my age. Completely regret getting it now!

ancienthouse · 01/10/2022 15:11

@Chocolat do you know why it's higher than you thought? I think it's more of a worry if it's based on the nuchal measurement vs high hcg or low papp-a but I'm not really sure...

I know my risk will come back higher than last time as I'm 4 years older, and my hcg is probably higher (more sickness, stronger pregnancy tests). But if the nuchal measurement is good then I probably won't worry.

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 15:20

@ancienthouse nuchal measurement was 3 which again I know is in the normal range but on the higher side and probably what swayed the results.
However not sure how much I trust the reading as it was done on a portable US machine, my picture quality was terrible and baby was facing down.
Can’t imagine my HCG being high as I’ve (luckily) not been sick once and just felt nauseous for 2 weeks. I’m sure if my Papp-a was low they should want to monitor growth anyway?

Do you remember what your risk was with your last child?

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/10/2022 15:24

@Chocolat 1 in 300 is 0.3% chance if it helps to see it that way! Could you afford NIPT?

LauraA31 · 01/10/2022 15:26

@Cuppasoupmonster the discharge is horrible, im also really bad with it. I have been shopping today and had to go to the toilet to wipe as I was certain i was bleeding because of the wet feel- no blood just absolutely loads of discharge! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/10/2022 15:28

I’m also expecting a higher result as I’m nearly 4 years older now. With DD it was 1 in 8000 when I was 27. But she then went on to have a ‘normal
but very high for normal’ nuchal at the 20 week scan which played on my mind until she was born.

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 15:34

@Cuppasoupmonster thank you for the reassuring stats :) yep I know odds are well within our favour I think I was just surprised that they weren’t better. Also know I’m getting a bit ahead of myself but if I want baby no 2 I feel like I should be thinking about that sooner than later too!

I could do NIPT, but DH has become stressed with all the testing and wants to avoid any further tests at all. Think I will wait for the 20 week scan and hope for the best.

Reassuring also to see your DS had a high for normal nuchal at 20 weeks, I’m assuming everything was fine in the end?

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/10/2022 15:36

Yes sorry I should’ve said she was (and is) perfectly healthy. She had a nuchal of 5.7mm at 20 weeks and quite short legs, so my mind put them together and was 🤯 very worried. To be honest I wish I had just done the NIPT and found out as I worried a bit for months!

ancienthouse · 01/10/2022 15:41

@Chocolat yes the risk was 1 in 14000 or around about there. The nuchal measurement was 1.9 so I guess that's why. I'm 37 now so it'll definitely go up. I'm lucky I can afford the NIPT so if it comes back less than 1 in 1000 I'll probably do that just so I have more of an idea. I have my scan next week and I'm really worried about it (for no real reason other than being older).
But 1 in 300 is still a tiny risk. It's smaller than the risk of stillbirth, for example. I'm not sure if that's reassuring or not really!

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 15:49

@Wouldloveanother aw lovely glad to hear about DD. I think deep inside I’m worried if I go for NIPT and it comes back as high risk I’ll be feeling a lot worse throughout the pregnancy. As I don’t want any invasive testing. But then again I’ve been feeling quite low in myself all week and couldn’t put my finger on why, but now thinking, this is probably why. May see how I’m feeling over the next few weeks and may have to do NIPT if I continue to feel like this. Such a hard time (although I appreciate people have much higher risks and much worse things to worry about!).

@ancienthouse Fingers crossed the risk is still low for you in this pregnancy. And yes, that is reassuring thank you :)

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/10/2022 15:52

@Chocolat it’s entirely up to you, there’s no rights or wrong with this kind of thing (and the first of many mum worries to come 🤦🏼‍♀️!). I’m going to have the NIPT if it comes up higher than 1 in 1000 as that’s the level I think I would feel acceptable to me. No doubt we will all be worrying about something else in a few weeks!

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 15:56

@Wouldloveanother haha yes I was speaking to my mum about this. Don’t think the worrying ends ever after this stage!

AliceinSlumberland · 01/10/2022 16:45

Haha @MamaMenna that is abbbbbbsolutely me, I’ve developed a significant attachment to my sofa and staying in. DH has got tickets for a comedian I really like tomorrow night and I am excited but tbh I’d rather stay at home haha.

@Margo34 I don’t know how you do it with a toddler, honestly you are super woman!

Reassuring to hear that it should improve, thanks @ancienthouse and @Chocolat !

Even though that’s still low risk, I can appreciate how stressful that would feel @Chocolat, it sounds so much higher than it is in reality. I’d be tempted by the NIPT I think but then does that change things really? I don’t know maybe it would.

Telling my brother and sister tomorrow at a family meal, I weirdly hate telling people haha I never expected that. I don’t really like being the centre of attention and wish people just knew. I think I’m going to put something in social media in a couple of weeks just to avoid having to tell people individually 😂

ancienthouse · 01/10/2022 16:57

@AliceinSlumberland I hated telling people last time! It felt so embarrassing, especially my parents like hello, here's evidence I've had sex. Even though I'm in my 30s. It was ridiculous!

I'm enjoying telling people this time. The excitement is more low key for a second baby and it's less stressful telling people because I guess it's more expected?

Chocolat · 01/10/2022 17:05

@AliceinSlumberland thanks for your response. Think I will consider the NIPT but will have to discuss with DH.

@ancienthouse hahaha ‘here’s evidence I’ve had sex’ is definitely the reason it feels awkward to tell people, I couldn’t tell my dad, I made my mum tell him 😂

KennAdams · 01/10/2022 17:36

Yes to being tired @AliceinSlumberland I have taken to afternoon naps. 😳

I just feel fatigued all the time. The low iron probably isn't helping. The tablets are making me feel even more sick too.

I'm wondering what the chances are of getting an iv iron transfusion but I doubt it.

Hello! I’ve been lurking because I’ve been SO worried after a MMC in March… but I now have a lovely 13 week scan and feel much more positive! Due 1 April, so might end up being March …?!
We are going for a surprise and have a little boy. But any nub guesses very welcome!

MilkAndFenty · 01/10/2022 18:19

@pistachioplum ahhh congratulations! Same due date as me! I’m thinking March too though. I’m rubbish at nubs and have absolutely no clue what to look for, what a great, clear scan though :)

AliceinSlumberland · 01/10/2022 18:38

Gorgeous scan @pistachioplum, completely understandable to feel anxious, hopefully now you’ll have a really boring straight forward pregnancy 💕 I know nothing about nubs really but I’m going to guess girl 😂

@KennAdams I’ve been wondering if I might be a bit low on iron, do you know if they check as standard or it’s something I should ask for? My diet is probably a bit shit at the minute which won’t help!

@ancienthouse no but seriously that’s reassuring that you didn’t like it either 😂 I think there’s a few people left to tell, mostly friends through my hobby, who will be very shocked and some of them will say what are you thinking?! I don’t feel the need to justify myself so I’m ducking out with a social media post at some point 😂
