@Cuppasoupmonster I was told to expect a small ish baby as I had low Papp-a, I went out and bought some tiny baby at about 24 weeks just incase. Baby came out so long and skinny instead! Newborn still lasted ages on her though and then she seemed to be in 0-3 for no time

LauraA31 · 27/09/2022 12:53

@Cuppasoupmonster thats so cute! How lucky your gut feeling was right and you had a little girl; im absolutely sure this is a boy and im happy either way but boyfriend is certain it’s a girl… one of us shall be right 😂😂

You are right though, we are so excited and so happy and although we won’t buy big things i might let us get a bit excited and buy some little bits which will be practical!

I keep telling myself although i had a small bleed i had a scan at 9+2 and baby had a ‘strong heartbeat’ according to the lady who scanned me, i know anything can change but according to google the chance of anything bad happening now drops a lot… next scan in a week and half so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Ooo that’s a good tip, me and the boyfriend did go crackers when we first started TTC and bought some clothes (to be prepared hahaha, that didn’t work well) which are in a drawer and haven’t come out at all! i haven’t looked at them or anything but I think with them we got bigger sizes rather than smaller..
I have said though that they can go, his sister is due a little boy in 2 months and ive convinced myself she needs them and we need to start fresh 😅😂

@ancienthouse i don’t think i will buy anything massive until much later, the next to me sleeper/rocker etc we have planned to wait until after christmas in the sales haha; try our luck! 😂
That does sound sensible though, i will probably be the person who overdoes it and doesn’t use half the stuff!

@Margo34 haha that sounds terrible, yeah the luck was against you with the pram haha.
my mum is adamant the pram cannot come into the house either, so even when it gets delivered it’s going to her house until baby is almost here, luckily she lives 10 mins away so i can get it very quickly haha!

@Margo34 EPU offered me early scans so I had them. It was nice to know I'd made it to 6 weeks, then 9 weeks. I'd be really angry as well as upset if I waited until my 12 week scan and went through all this sickness just to find out the fetus stopped growing at 7 weeks or something. It would feel like wasted time. I guess everyone is different!

Ahh see early scans on NHS would probably be an entirely different matter for me - if I'd been offered them too I would probably have taken them because I'd be thinking they've offered them for a reason!

But before I was referring to early scans, private ones you pay for, by choice. Those I wouldn't have, despite previous losses.

I've got my NHS dating scan next week, eeek.

Hope you're doing well ☺️

Skylark1990 · 27/09/2022 14:00

Hey all, just been catching up. We are on holiday which is really nice BUT my FIL who is with us has just come down with covid 😩😩 it's absolutely put a huge dampener on things, I am petrified as we had it in June and I had a miscarriage just after it 😩😩 I'm so scared the same is going to happen now.

DH is grumpy and worried and so am I, and we were having such a nice time before.

I'm 12+1 today and yesterday was the first day I didn't spew for about 5 weeks! So that's one positive although I am also a bit worried about symptoms going down, but hopefully that's just normal at this stage

Gilm0reGirl · 27/09/2022 14:15

@Skylark1990 that's a shame about your FIL, I hope you don't catch it and continue to have less morning sickness too. We've only just gotten over whatever vomiting virus it was we all caught and it all can definitely effect a holidays mood/feel. Are you all staying together in a villa or have separate rooms so you can avoid being in close quarters with your FIL to hopefully avoid catching covid?

@DBS94 I know what you mean about the odd rough day, I'm suddenly feeling rather tired now having said I was feeling better this morning. Steak wise I'm not much help as I'm plant based but I am positive a few of my friends had well done steak when they were pregnant. I know one did and scowled at it with utter disdain the entire time we were at dinner as she likes it rare normally and this was a travesty in her opinion, but she was really craving steak so gave it a go well done, browned steak was better then no steak. My husband has his steak blue and looked horrified too though 😂

AliceinSlumberland · 27/09/2022 14:20

Ahhh @Skylark1990 that’s seriously not good. Honestly I’d go home but I’m a massive baby haha.

@LauraA31 we bought a couple of baby grows after our 10 week scan just to be excited really. My mother in law came round the other day with a bag of stuff including bottles and a steriliser, some nappies etc which was really lovely. My friend told me to start buying bits and bobs in the weekly shop, a packet of nappies in different sizes or a bit of formula, so that we have a bit of a stash so I’m going to start doing that. If something awful happens, it’ll just have to go away into storage or be donated. I’ve decided I’m done being anxious about this pregnancy now.

Cuppasoupmonster · 27/09/2022 14:23

@Skylark1990 that’s so annoying, do you have tests so you can keep an eye on yourself? Hopefully you won’t catch it, if you do them remember you’re past 12 weeks now and should be fine. I understand the worry though!

I’m in bed right now, I was up all last night being sick on and off. The nights are so bad now but I’m generally not sick during the day, if I am then it’s just once. But it means I’m so tired and rough still. I just said to DH I feel like when I recover everything in this house will just remind me of HG as I’ve been trapped in here for so long! Sick of the sight of it!

Cuppasoupmonster · 27/09/2022 14:25

I’ve decided I’m done being anxious about this pregnancy now

Youve hit the nail on the head Alice! Me too, I’ve decided once I get the 12 week scan results, if everything is fine, I’m going to start buying a few things because I need to start bonding with the pregnancy and something nice to focus on after being so unwell.

For what it’s worth TK Maxx has some surprisingly good branded bargains!

Longbin · 27/09/2022 14:29

I bought things like nappies way to early last time. It actually take up a lot of room and it really doesn't take long to nip out and get the next size or whatever. I am going to buy clothes when they are on sale though and larger items around Black Friday or Christmas

ancienthouse · 27/09/2022 14:29

@Skylark1990 I can understand the worry. Can you distance from your FIL easily, or ask him to wear a mask etc?
I wouldn't leave the holiday if it was me, you might already have it so it would be pointless then. But please try not to worry. I had covid this pregnancy at 4/5 weeks and I was so sure I would miscarry because covid (and the jabs) has messed up my periods before, but it was completely fine.

Fingers crossed you manage to avoid it though because any illness isn't much fun in pregnancy.

ancienthouse · 27/09/2022 14:35

@Cuppasoupmonster I'm the same. I hate my house at the moment! And I can't look at photos of things I've done since I've been pregnant because it makes me feel sick.

I remember last time I was the same. It took a while to get back to normal but eventually I could look at things and I wouldn't just be reminded of sickness.

Sorry you're still being sick at night, that's so rough. I hope the relief comes for you soon!
I've been wandering around my house today which I haven't been able to do for ages. Even just going up or down the stairs once was an effort and would have me running to be sick, but not today!! It's really nice, I feel like I have new freedom 😊

Wisher88 · 27/09/2022 14:45

Anyone having itchiness? Chest, thighs, torso. Apparently this is stretching? I get it every few days

greyvee · 27/09/2022 15:22

Hi everyone! Hope it's okay to join. I'm due beginning of May however I found out I'm having twins at my early scan so will be induced in April. Is anyone else in the same boat or had a twin pregnancy? Would love to know anyone else's experience!

Wisher88 · 27/09/2022 15:34

@greyvee oh wow congratulations and welcome! Are they your first babies?
I'm only expecting one, and it's my first, date based on last period is end of April for me. I think it's pretty usual for them to take twins out a couple of weeks early ☺️

KennAdams · 27/09/2022 15:41

@Margo34 hopefully the next 9 days go by quickly! It feels like forever when you're on countdown.

I used my doppler for a minute again today. Was so much easier to find than last time. I'm aware they also aren't for everybody though.

@Wisher88 Thank you so much! It's my second pregnancy. Unfortunately I lost my baby at 22 weeks during delivery in December. So a lot of anxiety this time around but really hopeful and grateful for two babies with good heartbeats!

Hannah223344 · 27/09/2022 16:47

@greyvee welcome! And congratulations on twins, how lovely....I'm only expecting the 1 baby, but I'm pretty sure there is another lady on the thread who is expecting twins too

MrsC2018 · 27/09/2022 16:53

Hey ladies, hope you're all ok. I've not posted since page 1 but have kept an eye! Anxiety has been too high to get too involved really but I'm now at 12+1 and have just had NIPT results back as all clear. Relieved for sure, but had a loss at 16 weeks after the all clear from the 12 week scan and NIPT in April this year so just still sad really. Found out it's another little girl 💖, have an older boy and toddler girl already and the one I lost was a boy so all nice and even here which in itself has made me strangely happy! My symptoms have gone since 11 weeks which is earlier than the others - arrrgh when will I stop worrying about everything 😢

DBS94 · 27/09/2022 17:03

@greyvee welcome ✨ wow twins!! So lovely. Sorry to hear of your previous loss, hope you're doing okay and managing to enjoy this pregnancy as best you can x

I'm going with "it's next week" rather than counting down days because it makes it feel sooner 😆

Skylark1990 · 27/09/2022 17:41

Thank you @Cuppasoupmonster @SavedByGraceAlone @ancienthouse @Gilm0reGirl ❤️

We are all in the same house but he has been in his room aside from when DH had to take him to the doctor as he was scared he had pneumonia - which ofc he doesn't, he has had symptoms for one day - but he's 78 and has heart problems so he's quite worried bless him. I'm surprised the doctor would see him - I'm sure the GP would say not to come in if in UK!

I'm very very worried and upset and can't help fearing the worst, that this will affect the baby and make me miscarry. But I'm also going to try not to let it get to me as I want to enjoy this holiday. And if we all get it and feel shit in a couple days I'll be annoyed I didn't enjoy it while I can. I guess it is what it is. And I'm 12 weeks now, my loss last time was 6 weeks. But it does feel v deja vu. But it's different this time I know that - I just hope my body is strong and so is this baby! Also hope we have antibodies and don't get it, as we had it in June. Although I have a cough so wondering if I have it already 😟

That's reassuring you had it at 5 weeks and it was ok @ancienthouse thank you for sharing. I'll hang on to hope. And I don't know if it caused my last loss it may have been coincidence but it's just a horrible feeling, worrying about it happening again.

@Skylark1990 , ah that is so so rubbish for you - I'm really sorry!
You've made it to 12 weeks though, that is fantastic and hopefully the baby is robust enough, plus you still have some antibodies from June, as you say.
Are you able to get tests while there?

chasingtherainbow1 · 27/09/2022 18:19

I have also come down with covid today. Feel terrible. Going to take some time off work and just rest and hopefully it won't stay around too long. Anyone know anything I can take to help ease the symptoms?

cheekysausage · 27/09/2022 18:23

Hi @greyvee twin mum to be here 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

MrsC2018 · 27/09/2022 18:54

@Skylark1990 I had covid when 4-5 weeks pregnant with my daughter in 2020 and she was ok. I was just miserable and ill but she was ok. You're going to stress about it I guess, but it's only a small minority of women that lose babies after 12 weeks.
@chasingtherainbow1 think it's just paracetamol that you can have pregnant unfortunately
