@Skylark1990 I had covid when 4-5 weeks pregnant with my daughter in 2020 and she was ok. I was just miserable and ill but she was ok. You're going to stress about it I guess, but it's only a small minority of women that lose babies after 12 weeks.
@chasingtherainbow1 think it's just paracetamol that you can have pregnant unfortunately

gosh that must’ve been pre-jab? Scary! But shows how great the babies are at hanging in there.

greyvee · 27/09/2022 19:29

@cheekysausage Ahh yay! Congratulations! How've you been feeling? I'm so excited but so overwhelmed about having to give birth to two haha.

EMcG3 · 27/09/2022 19:37

@LauraA31 - I reckon just take one moment to make a plan of what you would do with the things you buy if you lose your little one before their time. Once you've done that, put the thought aside and buy joyfully and hopefully, and enjoy the process.

@greyvee congratulations to you too! I don’t want to jinx it, but I’ve been fine! The odd day of nausea, but never physically sick. More tired than normal but that’s about all. I am currently 10+5 with my 12 week scan 10th Oct. How are you?

JG24 · 27/09/2022 19:45

Can I ask what car you have?
I have a tiny vauxhall Adam and I'm worried nothing will fit in!

DBS94 · 27/09/2022 19:48

@JG24 I have a mini 🤣 so many people have said to me "you'll need to get a bigger car now" but it's 5 door and I love my wee car so holding onto it as long as possible. My husband has a big car so between us we will be fine x

JG24 · 27/09/2022 19:57

@DBS94 thank you!
I just don't know what to do. Mine is tiny and 3 door. I don't want to get a new one but i need to do some research and see if it is workable

Wisher88 · 27/09/2022 20:01

Good news for me - had scan, baby measuring exactly where should be (last time they were 4 days too small) and actually looks like a baby! 9wks 5ds!
We have our NHS scan at week 13 so look forward to seeing the progression then!!

@DBS94 I'm the same, I've got a little VW Up and keep being told by friends I'll need a bigger car but I love it so I don't want to! It's a three door however, but plenty of people do manage with a 3 door and an isofix etc. I'd rather have the money to spend on other things for baby/future! If we have a second then we'd probably look at a bigger car.

How lovely 🥰 great clear photo too!

MrsC2018 · 27/09/2022 20:53

@Cuppasoupmonster terrifying, it was in the March as well just as we went into the first lockdown. I'm a bit dramatic anyway, but I truly thought I was going to die!

MamaMenna · 27/09/2022 20:57

I had an Alfa Romeo Mito 3 door which is a bit bigger than those cars but not huge and I managed incl isofix. I would just climb into the back holding baby and then put her into seat rather than leaning in from standing. It was no problem. I think you'd just need to make sure there is room behind the passenger seat for the car seat because they can be deep, maybe some car seats would work better than others.
@Skylark1990 fingers crossed for you that you escape it, logically you're likely fine either way, but totally get the worry emotionally and it's rubbish. Covid does seem to be on the up again doesn't it, my husband's 2 colleagues who he's been in close contact with both tested positive today 😒

How awful, I’m not surprised. Glad you and baby were fine.

Tropicana1 · 27/09/2022 21:19

@DBS94 I've still had a steak, was disappointingly cooked compared to how I usually like it 🤣

AliceinSlumberland · 27/09/2022 21:30

Interesting reading the car talk, we have a decent size car but have dog cages in my boot for my two dogs so realistically need a pram that will fold down pretty small and maybe fit in one of the footwells?

Im also not sure what to do re car seats - some mums have said definitely get one of tbe fixed ones that turn, others have said a travel system one is better that you can easily wizz in and out. Not sure what to do for the best really?

AliceinSlumberland · 27/09/2022 21:30

Today I discovered my baby does NOT appreciate a bacon sandwich 😂

KennAdams · 27/09/2022 21:40

@Wisher88 such a cute pic. Glad all is well.

We have a Ford cmax and can fit 3 seats across the back. Though we may upgrade to a 7 seater but tbh we are rarely out all together teen DD prefers not to come out all the time with us. We have two cars so may not need to get a 7 seater.

@Skylark1990 How are you feeling?
@MrsC2018 I too had covid back in 2020 when 6 weeks pregnant with DS. It was back in Feb when covid was supposedly not in the UK but I had never experienced anything like that before, no flu had ever been like that and the symptoms later confirmed it was covid. I was just glad that DS had not been affected. Totally relate to you about how terrifying it was.

Tubbytele · 28/09/2022 08:03

@chasingtherainbow1 hope you feel better soon, take it easy

LauraA31 · 28/09/2022 08:51

@DBS94 @JG24 @Wisher88
I have just recently changed my car because we found out about the baby, i had a ford KA and it was small and three door but we got a ford KA plus because it is a five door, although bigger it’s not the biggest car in the world.

The travel system mum and dad have ordered for us the chassis folds down small and the wheels come off so it fits perfect in half the boot leaving space for a bit of shopping. The car chair and isofix fits perfect in the back, the carry cot has to go on the back seat but at an angle it fits with the car chair and isofix.. we went to a local place and tried it all in the car 😅
i would have struggled with my old car but only because id not have wanted to change pram as i had my heart set on it 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Well i spoke too soon yesterday, symptoms gave me a day break! Boobs are sore again, woke up three times in the night for the toilet and couldn’t sleep after ha… at least they seem to have come back!
My midwife phoned me this morning to give her number, she has booked me an ante-natal appointment in November, i have chosen to have baby at another hospital local but not in my immediate area so they’re splitting the care..
Hope everybody is okay x

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 08:58

I need a new car. We only have the one and it's not big enough for two car seats in the back plus an adult. My DD gets horrible car sickness so someone has to sit in the back, and she's in an extended rear facing seat and probably still will be by the time we need to fit an infant carrier in there too. But cars are so expensive!

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 09:01

Oh and we've rarely needed to fit the pram in the boot. If we went anywhere in the car before DD could walk we just took a sling/carrier. Sooo much easier!

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 09:04

@AliceinSlumberland I've always been wary of travel systems because carseats aren't great for babies to lie in for long periods. We just got an infant carrier carseat that lasted until about 12 months then switched to an extended rear facing seat as they're much safer than forward facing.

PuddingBear · 28/09/2022 09:21

@AliceinSlumberland All infant carriers are the same standard so the make doesn’t really matter too much. They are designed for babies to be in them for 12-18 months.

My daughter is 21 months and still in her infant car seat because she’s low percentile but we will be getting her an ERF seat soon.

Rear facing is 5 times safer than forward facing so it’s best for children to rear face for a minimum of 4 years but ideally until 5/6/7.

Gilm0reGirl · 28/09/2022 09:32

We like the Joie 360 spin car seat, never went for travel systems but it's personal preference. We are a larger car family as we also have a dog, I have a karoq I'm about to change over to a kodiaq, thought I'd give electric a go, could go either way in the best idea or what have I done stakes as never owned electric (any tips welcome). I used to have a fiat 500 which was my absolute favourite ever car and if I could manage with it and a baby and toddler I probably would get another one and live my best life with it like I'm 22 again. Husband absolutely hated driving it though as everything was "back to front" but I loved that car.
