@Springblooms08 oh no migraines are the worst! I have only had one twice. The first was worst. I had to lie down in a dark room and only entertainment was an audio book. I think the only way is through - drink as much water as you can. Does paracetamol help?
The second one came one because I was dehydrated so make sure your fluid and sugar levels are good x

Springblooms08 · 24/09/2022 11:50

@Skylark1990 ahh thank you. I don’t normally get them either so it’s really hit me like a bus! I’ve not taken paracetamol yet as I wasn’t sure it would really touch the pain as it’s quite bad. I’ve made sure to eat and drink regularly - I’m very grateful that I don’t have bad nausea so have been able to continue eating pretty much as normal. Have been using 4head strips which have provided a little bit of relief x

Skylark1990 · 24/09/2022 15:34

Hey all, having a little freak out about artificial sweeteners. I usually avoid them and have a healthy diet, but since being pregnant I've found soda to help with the nausea and can't say I'm eating v well - takeaways and beige food are my staples atm. And Nearly every soft drink (even the non diet ones) has artificial sweeteners in now! Full fat coke is too much for me, it didn't actually help the nausea but I have found Fanta to be good. I've had sprite a couple times from McDonald's . I've also had chewing gum a few times and the odd lucozade. I've never had more than one or two cans of fanta in one day, usually only one and dont think I've had something with sweeteners in every day. I've had it every day either.

Anyway internet says artificial sweeteners fine in moderation but would this be in moderation? Slightly worried. I managed to limit junk food much better with DD esp things like diet soda but this time it's been much harder as the sickness has been worse!

I don't know whether to be worried or not 😟

Wouldloveanother · 24/09/2022 15:44

Don’t worry Skylark. I drank lucozade every day of my pregnancy with DD and she’s fine. I’ve been drinking it every day of this pregnancy, plus one can of full fat coke a day. I’m not worried at all. And my diet had been atrocious due to the HG - mainly toast with jam/marmite, cheesy pasta occasionally with tuna, digestive biscuits and the odd piece of fruit.

Literally everything has internet scare stories - paracetamol, living next to a main road or rubbish dump, caffeine, beauty products, hormones and pesticides found in all our food, chemicals to clean the water we drink. I remember being heavily pregnant with DD and realising with a shock that every day I had passed through a body scanner for work, and suddenly having a
meltdown about how this could’ve affected her.

Honestly, I’ve decided not to worry this time. I don’t want it to ruin what is my last pregnancy. As long as you’re avoiding the list of banned foods, not drinking/smoking and taking supplements, there’s not much more to be done. There are so many mums out there who don’t realise they’re pregnant for several months, drink and smoke, don’t take supplements and eat rubbish, and the babies are fine 😊

Longbin · 24/09/2022 16:31

@Skylark1990 I'm drinking Pepsi max and diet fanta every day. Also eating lots of sweets!

Pommy1 · 24/09/2022 19:59

If a fizzy drink helps you to keep food down and gets nutrients to the baby, I’d say that’s a decent trade off. I’d be careful with the caffeine content in some, and also if you are opting for the sugar ones, your teeth can be effected during pregnancy so that’s something to consider. Still, your teeth hate you being sick more so you gotta do what you gotta do to get through.
i have diet orange from aldi once a day, two sometimes if on long drive. Xx

DBS94 · 24/09/2022 20:07

I've been drinking a lot more fizzy juice too but I feel it helps so much, before pregnancy I'd only ever it at the weekends so 2 cans a week max but I'm having a Diet Coke or diet Fanta daily atm. Have completely gone off of my beloved coffee and tea too!!

Hannah223344 · 24/09/2022 20:28

Are there any IBS sufferers on the thread? And if so, how has pregnancy affected it? ... I found mine had completely cleared up, and then today (9wk5d) I've had my first flare up since testing positive, and am now a bit concerned that it means the pregnancy isn't progressing in the right way 🤷🏼‍♀️

DBS94 · 24/09/2022 20:45

@Hannah223344 me 🙋🏼‍♀️ I've found my IBS has gone the complete other way... I have been SOOOOO bunged up and constipated which before pregnancy that was never an issue 😂

MamaMenna · 24/09/2022 20:54

I don't like sweeteners but have been finding fizzy is the only thing that helps when feeling rough so I've been drinking coke or putting fizzy water into fruit juice.

Pommy1 · 24/09/2022 21:02

You can also try cordial with sparkling water so you avoid caffeine and reduce the concentration. I think compared to most things, a couple of fizzy drinks are fine. Just have the alcohol out ;)

@Hannah223344 if you are taking aspirin or any chewable tablets during pregnancy those can hit your stomach lining so make sure you have a dense meal when taking them. Also, the formal changes slow digestion right down so the baby gets the chance to absorb all the nutrients so that could be a contributor for many xx

Hannah223344 · 24/09/2022 21:32

Thank you @Pommy1 🙂 @DBS94 I've been like you so far, hopefully today is just down to the fact I've actually eaten a proper dinner for the first time in a few days and it's stirred things up!

DBS94 · 25/09/2022 07:01

@Hannah223344 I have been the same, for about 3 weeks I didn't eat a full meal because of nausea, just little snacks and when I ate my first full dinner I had to run to the loo just as I'd finished 😂 my body seems to be getting used to it now x

DBS94 · 25/09/2022 07:07

Has anyone who has been constipated suffered with a bit of vagina bleeding after going for a number 2? It's happened a couple of times now, just a tiny bit when I wipe then nothing after. I wondered if it's from straining. Not sure if to call midwife about it

Skylark1990 · 25/09/2022 08:56

Thank you @Wouldloveanother @Longbin @DBS94 @Pommy1 @MamaMenna all very reassuring 💕

Yes I've tried the cordial and sparkling water route, kinda helps and also apple juice with sparkling water or diluted with normal water is quite good.

Good to know I'm not the only one chugging the fizzy drinks and having more artificial sweeteners than usual! 😅

On the ibs front I don't have ibs but do have sensitive stomach lining so I've learnt need to be a bit careful of antacids as they can affect things, and I have to avoid aspirin too.

Skylark1990 · 25/09/2022 08:57

For constipation have you tried lactulose? It's a stool softener so doesn't make it all come out quick but just softens so keeps everything easier and more regular. Totally safe in pregnancy @DBS94

I've not had a vaginal bleed but have bled from back passage before if constipated!

DBS94 · 25/09/2022 09:01

@Skylark1990 I've just ordered some so going to start incorporating them to try and keep things regular 🤞🏽

Blouise92 · 25/09/2022 09:08

@Hannah223344 @DBS94 oh my god yes! It feels so strange after suffering for years, always needing to be close to a toilet yet now I can go days and feel completely bunged up

chasingtherainbow1 · 25/09/2022 10:26

Morning guys. Got my hospital scan tomorrow and will be 12w4d. I'm so nervous for it. Had a scan pst at 10w3d and all was fine but you know when you can't shake off the feeling that something might have gone wrong. Just want today to hurry up so tomorrow comes faster. Think if all is well I will tell parents and very close friends

Wouldloveanother · 25/09/2022 11:28

Good luck for tomorrow @chasingtherainbow1 hope it puts your mind at rest 🥰

I feel so incredibly rough. Does anyone else have this? 😭 even when I’m not nauseated specifically, it’s this horrible rough feeling that I just can’t shake. I said to DH at this point I’m getting paranoid that it’s psychological, like I’ve become so used to lying down all day that the tiniest bit of housework etc makes me feel so shit. Is this what most pregnant women feel like and I’m just not coping? 😭 but then I know it isn’t because I felt rough and had some vomiting with DD but coped and only had a day or two off work. It’s horrible, I just want to feel myself again.

12 weeks tomorrow, really hoping I turn this magic corner. 🍀 🤞🏻 🌈

lj2022 · 25/09/2022 14:16

@Wouldloveanother I feel the exact same way. Im also 12 weeks tomorrow and hoping it passes soon. I feel for me working from home doesn't help my motivation but luckily I'm transferring teams so I'll be in office more and I'm hoping that helps me with this feeling. My house just feels a mess and housework feels like a monumental task. Fingers crossed that soon it passes for us 🤞

Marshmallowmountain · 25/09/2022 14:57

@Wouldloveanother im the same too. It’s constant and I wake in the night with waves of nausea and have to rush to the loo. Agree re housework. I just can’t do it. I hope this goes soon as it’s really getting me down. I’m only 9w5d and the thought of a few more weeks of this makes me cry

chasingtherainbow1 · 25/09/2022 15:12

@Wouldloveanother thanks, keeping my fingers crossed. It's at 8am so glad I won't be waiting around for it all day!

Chocolat · 25/09/2022 15:51

Sorry if this is tmi but is anyone else having fluorescent yellow urine?
Noticed this since last night found it very weird as I have no UTI symptoms.
Googled that it could be due to vitamin B excess.

But I’ve been taking the pregnacare vitamins with the omega 3 for 4 weeks now and only just noticed it..

Tryingmybest345 · 25/09/2022 16:19

Hi @Chocolat it is likely the vitamins. You can always tell when I’ve had mine by the colour of my wee! X
