@DBS94 at my private scan at 9 weeks they looked for my ovaries and couldn't find either of them! But I knew it was fine because at my 6 week epu scan they'd found both of them (although it took ages to find the right one) and they identified that I'd ovulated from the left one and had some fluid on it from a cyst or something.
I think sometimes just positioning or the skills of the sonographer can make a difference.

LauraA31 · 22/09/2022 20:39

@DBS94 @KennAdams

No other symptoms, a little bit of pain in my left hand side but don’t know if im imagining it or not.. trying to stay calm and have managed to book a private scan for tomorrow if the bleeding doesn’t get too bad..
I phoned EPU and they said they will see me on Tuesday and that if i start to soak onto a pad to go to A&E, it’s going to be a very long night!

Boyfriend and parents know and are so upset but im trying to stay positive.. I did get told at my scan last week i had a pocket of blood in my uterus which could bleed at any time, im hoping that this is all it is 🤞🏻🙁

Longbin · 22/09/2022 21:09

@LauraA31 how many weeks are you? Try not to worry, it sounds like it will be the pocket they found. It sounds positive that you haven't had extremely bad cramps which I would think you would have this far on if it was anything serious. Hopefully the bleeding stops soon

DBS94 · 22/09/2022 21:16

@LauraA31 I would agree with @Longbin the lack of bad cramps is positive. When I went for my first scan at 8 weeks I had some spotting and mentioned it to them. They then looked for any signs of what could have been causing it and mentioned looking for a pocket as that's very common x

LauraA31 · 22/09/2022 21:22

I’m 9+1 today, i think im stressing more as i got caught in a door getting slammed today and then half hour later the bleed started..
I keep getting a twinge in my left side of my stomach but it’s high up near my belly button so im talking myself down because i doubt that would be anything. I have been bleeding for coming upto 3 hours now and so far it hasn’t got any heavier, it’s still there when i wipe but not on a pad.
fingers crossed that’s a good sign!

Longbin · 22/09/2022 22:02

@Wouldloveanother I've got the results and we were right, it's a boy!

EMcG3 · 22/09/2022 22:10

I'm going for NIPT testing due to higher risk for Edwards and Patau. This is same screening as for Downs. I feel fine about it as it's 1:93 chance and I'd take those odds. Adding it here so if someone else gets referred, I should know more about the process soon and might be helpful in answering questions.

Fantastic!! So happy to keep up my winning streak 😉 congratulations!!! 💙

Wouldloveanother · 22/09/2022 22:32

@LauraA31 can you contact the EPAU? Even if it’s just for reassurance?

Congrats to all the recent scans!

LauraA31 · 23/09/2022 01:05

@Wouldloveanother i spoke to EPU who said unless im soaking through a pad not to go to hospital, they are going to ring me with another scan on Tuesday..

I have just woken up and nothing on the pad, just the same when i wipe… would i usually have seen signs of heavier bleeding 7 hours after it started should the worst have happened?

DBS94 · 23/09/2022 07:11

@LauraA31 that's a good sign, I've had this happen twice - was never on the pad only when I wiped and it wasn't right through the tissue just light. Could be the pocket of blood burst or could be an irritated cervix, have you had sex recently? This is what kick started mine on one occasion

DBS94 · 23/09/2022 07:11

@Longbin congratulations!! 💙

LauraA31 · 23/09/2022 07:41

@Longbin congratulations!! 😅

@DBS94 Hi! No we haven’t had sex since we found out, i was too scared to bleed 😬
I did have a little bit of a knock yesterday, i got caught in a slammed door and the boyfriend tried to pull me out of the way, then about half hour later the bleed started.
I have had a lot of stress the last couple of days and worried this combined has caused this.. but it’s no heavier and no cramps, i have never experienced anything before but would assume after 12 hours it would be worse/pains started?

Hannah223344 · 23/09/2022 07:49

@Waffles27 hi, and congratulations on your wedding, how exciting!! I've had similar bowel habits to what you mention, but haven't been prescribed anything as it hasn't gotten to bad ... have tried to alleviate with as much fruit as possible and that seems to help!!

Good luck with your scan today too x

MamaMenna · 23/09/2022 09:05

@LauraA31 I've had blood on and off for a couple of weeks now, a reasonable amount but just on wiping. When she scanned me the dr didn't name what it was but pointed out a dark area in my uterus and said that was likely the explanation for the bleeding and that it was stable, so I'm trying not to worry. I didn't bleed at all last pregnancy. Seems like this happens in some pregnancies and unless there's a lot of blood hopefully nothing to worry about.

LauraA31 · 23/09/2022 09:12

@MamaMenna hi! 🙂
on my last ultrasound the lady found a dark pocket of blood away from the baby and did say it could bleed at any time or absorb back into the body.. I think as soon as you see the blood instant worry sets in.. I have a private scan booked this afternoon just for reassurance, if baby is ok then i know the reason for the bleed.. I think if it would have happened before the little incident i got caught up in then id not have worried but because it happened after somebody slammed a door into me im naturally worried..

Hope all is ok with you! X

KennAdams · 23/09/2022 10:51

Hope the scan goes OK this afternoon @LauraA31

Just got my scan date through for next Friday so will be 12+1 and then I have an appointment with a consultant 2 weeks after as my smear test showed abnormal cells and hpv so they didn’t want to overlook that with it being my cervix.

really exciting to see 12 week scan picks! We were all only 4/5 weeks when this group started & I love that we are going through our journeys together and experiencing similar things!

hope those with bleeding/spotting are ok and not too anxious, sounds like those little blood pockets aren’t too uncommon xx

Waffles27 · 23/09/2022 11:50

@Hannah223344 me too, having 10 a day including prune juice (eww) but still struggling!

Had a scan this morning, measuring 9 weeks with a good strong heartbeat, due 28th April. Now not sure how to focus on anything else for the rest of the day!

DBS94 · 23/09/2022 11:50

@Emeal123 how long ago was your smear? I'm over due mine and was thinking the same! I've an appointment with the consultant at 14 weeks too to see how my cervix is as I've had two colposcopy treatments on it x

Chocolat · 23/09/2022 11:58

Measuring 12+4 any nub theories, looking at you @Wouldloveanother 😅🥰

Skylark1990 · 23/09/2022 12:03

@Wouldloveanother I think it looks like a girl too, but at 11+3 or 4 it could definitely rise right? Or do we think it would have started to stack and rise already if a boy?

@Chocolat congrats! I can't actually see a nub in your picture!

@LauraA31 hope the bleeding has stopped and good luck for your scan this afternoon x

Chocolat · 23/09/2022 12:14

@Skylark1990 thanks :) and oh really, actually the sonographer had to flip that photo because baby was face down and wouldn’t move 😂 so maybe that’s why…

Fantastic ✨ I’m guessing boy, but tentatively as it’s a little blurry.
