@Emeal123 28 weeks is ages away. It makes you think why do they bother with it, if they only recheck it so late?! I guess the fact you'd just sat on the motorway for an hour gives more of a reason but I would test at home too just in case

Emeal123 · 16/09/2022 13:08

@Longbin i know I couldn’t believe she said it was high then to recheck at 28 weeks I don’t know what the point in it was. Im going to see if I can do a home test instead! X

Missgemini · 16/09/2022 13:19

Got called and told my Monday booking appointment will be on the phone, I guess partly because of the funeral.
Bloods will apparently be done around the 12 week appointment.

Missgemini · 16/09/2022 13:21

@Emeal123 I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You know you don’t smoke. Maybe double check your carbon monoxide monitor at home is working and all is safe, but I don’t see what else you can do. I would assume there was something wrong with their machine.

Tropicana1 · 16/09/2022 13:38

@Emeal123 that's strange, mine was normal but my midwife said they re check at every appointment now as standard

Feeling a bit better the last couple of days with the nausea 🙌🏻

Skylark1990 · 16/09/2022 10:59

Feeling marginally less sick today... even went out for breakfast and had poached eggs! I think my body is happy I actually ate some protein and something healthy 😅It'll probably set in again soon but I'm happy I don't feel too bad this morning....

@Wouldloveanother my next midwife appt isn't till 16 weeks so hoooopefully I'm a bit better by then. Sorry to hear about you feeling so bad too, it truly is grim... solidarity <3 When did it lift with your DD's pregnancy?

How is everyone today? x

@Skylark1990, so glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today! At least a little respite. Could even be that you've peaked at 9-10 weeks (from memory, sorry if got your dates wrong!) and it's going to get better from now - that would be lovely!
Am also feeling better today. So far no nausea, which is great but also worrying and unusual, but then everything worries me all the time... Have a reassurance scan at my EPU next Tuesday at 10 weeks, so long to see that heartbeat 💓 again!

alwaysseeingstars · 16/09/2022 16:27

@Skylark1990 and @Tropicana1 glad you're both feeling a bit better! hopefully this is a sign of things to come for you😊

Anyone who's suffered with nausea/sickness, do you find it worse when you've not slept well? I've luckily not had much other than a few waves of nausea, but the past two days I've felt a lot worse (though luckily no sick yet) - and I've had the worst two nights sleep of the 10 weeks. May just be a coincidence though!

DBS94 · 16/09/2022 16:27

Is anyone starting to feel nervous/anxious for their first NHS dating scan? Mine is in two weeks (private booked for Thursday where I'll be 11 weeks) and feeling a bit nervous about it!! Don't know why! X

Yes! If I have a broken/rubbish sleep or if I'm stressed I feel like it's worse! X

ancienthouse · 16/09/2022 16:42

@alwaysseeingstars I always have rubbish sleep with my DD kicking me all night, she is a restless sleeper. My nausea got slightly better the other day but is now back to how it was. I don't think it's sleep related for me but hydration, if I manage to keep more liquid down one day then I feel a bit better the next. Which is easier said than done! I've managed one glass of water and one glass of juice so far today.

@DBS94 I'm anxious before every scan. I had one at 9 weeks and everything was great but I'm still now worried about the 12 week one. With my DD I had no reason to assume anything would go wrong but my anxiety before the 20 week scan was the worst. I think it's just normal to worry. Pregnancy is mysterious and we only get these intermittent insights into how it's going.

lj2022 · 16/09/2022 18:25

How's everyone getting on ? I've not been on in a while life just has been so busy.

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing insomnia. I for the life of my cannot get a good sleep and it's really starting to get to me now feeling like I'm averaging 20-30 minute cycles resulting in max 2-3 hours sleep. I get the odd good night or two but today I feel horrific and would do anything to just get a good sleep. I thought this just happened third trimester. How wrong I was

LauraA31 · 16/09/2022 18:54

Thank you all for your kind messages following the scan 🙂

@lj2022 im struggling too! Im going to bed and falling asleep very easily once im comfortable, im struggling to get comfy at the moment! Then I wake up for a wee or the dog disturbs me by walking around and im awake for hours!
The other night i woke up at 1am and couldn’t go back to sleep until 4am; before i knew it I was up for work! It’s impacting me because im so tired all the time!

lj2022 · 16/09/2022 18:57

@LauraA31 that sounds exactly like me. How many weeks are you again you're not far behind me ? I feel this has been on and off for weeks and I just feel particularly grumpy this week. Praying it eases in the second trimester. Trying to find things that might help might try a hot drink and some lavender spray but like you it's the staying asleep

LauraA31 · 16/09/2022 20:25

@lj2022 im 8+2 today, ive been struggling since around 6 weeks! I didn’t expect anything like this so early, i actually think a 2 hour stint is good if i sleep that long 😂
how far are you?

If you find out how to stay asleep please let me know ha!

lj2022 · 16/09/2022 21:07

@LauraA31 ah I just saw you had your scan how exciting that's roughly when I had my scan. I'm contemplating going out a wee walk tonight for 10 minutes to see if the fresh air helps me just before bed 🤞 trying to not drink too much either so I don't get up to pee as much but I'm constantly thirsty!

I'm 10+4 we actually announced our pregnancy last week at our engagement party I never thought I'd announce early but with the early scan I thought why not and it was so special. Hoping you get some sleep tonight and will let you know if I find a miracle cure. A friend has just told me that her sleep has now got so much better now she's in her second trimester so hopefully that happens for us

Matildahoney · 16/09/2022 21:12

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and have started spotting, midwife told me to call my GP, GP was pretty dismissive, just said oh see how it goes and call us back Tues unless it gets worse then go to a&e, pretty pissed off about it tbh, and now going to spend the next 3 days worrying it could be a miscarriage, cos my 12 week scan isn't until 13+4, and I'm at a higher risk of miscarriage for 3 different reasons! Really not impressed. Don't really know whether I'm looking for words of advice or confirm, but I'm just worrying now!

Is there anywhere near you, you can book for a private scan? That's really not good! I'd phone NHS24 and ask if they can see you for an ultrasound... I'm very surprised by the midwife not offering to scan you! Love hugs and strength sending your way xx

LauraA31 · 16/09/2022 21:26

@lj2022 you sound exactly like me! I tried not to drink too much tonight but im soo thirsty, it’s a good idea to have a little walk. Sometimes i think the air wakes me up rather than making me want to sleep 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh that’s so exciting that you announced, i bet it feels so good to have everybody know! I’ve only told my parents and sister as of now, boyfriends family don’t know yet but he isn’t close to them and he wants to wait until the 12 week scan.

Im hoping that you get some sleep too! X

LauraA31 · 16/09/2022 21:27

@Matildahoney im so sorry this is happening, keeping everything crossed for you x

Matildahoney · 16/09/2022 21:34

@DBS94 my other half thinks I should see how things go overnight & make a decision in the morning. The closest place to me has no appointments until Mon (although they have so many I think they may actually be closed) I'll Google where some others are. Midwife just washed her hands of it really! Thank you. X

@LauraA31 thank you. X

KennAdams · 16/09/2022 21:36

@Matildahoney could you try and ring your local EPU who may be a bit more help? I think some annoyingly close over the weekend though and bank Holidays 🙄

Hope it's nothing x

Matildahoney · 16/09/2022 21:40

@KennAdams I can't even find any info for them! Just sends me to the maternity hospital main site which has nothing but a phone number on it, will try it in the morning.

Missgemini · 16/09/2022 21:44

@Matildahoney so sorry to hear this. Could you call the EPU to see what they suggest. How stressful. Crossing everything for you xx

Missgemini · 16/09/2022 21:46

@Matildahoney sorry, cross posted. When I was having pain, I googled all the nearest EPUs and went to the one that was open. Good luck x

EMcG3 · 16/09/2022 22:15

@alwaysseeingstars - yes! So much worse if I don't sleep well. Also worse on days I work than on days I rest. My sister had HG and confirmed this is actually a real thing with a specialist doctor.
