Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

AAARRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!! sorry PMT just hit me, was hoping hormones would stay under control a bit longer post pregnancy. Will come back when I am more sociable.......!

fettle · 28/05/2008 15:30

Hi all

Here but suffering from complete and utter sleep deprivation - longest Toby has done in weeks now is 3 hours and that was one night! He's now given me his flu and I feel awful today!

Hoping I better tomorrow though.....

Hope you are all well.

Have to go remove Toby from mischief - just started properly crawling (well commando style, but still pretty nifty!) and he's the proud owner of 4 teeth as well now!

xxx

fettle · 29/05/2008 20:25

Tumble-weed city round here!!!

Greedy and Chooster - come back we miss you!!!! And we're not at all jealous of your holiday!!

Rainbowy - hope your PMT passes quickly - I hate it all!! Get pg again quickly would be my advice!!

Well, I've met the infamous Isla and she's lovely! Her photos don't do her justice, she's beautiful (her Mum and older sister are just as lovely and beautiful too, I hasten to add!!!).

Had a really fun day, Thank you Bodkin! Feels funny writing this now I've actually met you! DH loves DD's new shoes! She put them on as soon as we got in the car - she was very proud and promptly told DH that your DD1 had the same shoes! So pleased our elder DD's got on so well.

Right - DH has some work to do on the 'puter so I best let him!

Bodkin · 30/05/2008 12:46

That Fettle - she's lovely she is!

Yes, my DD was equally excited about her new shoes and really enjoyed her day out and meeting you all. When we went past the Iggle Piggle ride thing on our way to the carpark she said "shall we have a picture of me and Lexi in there together" and we hung around for a bit hoping you'd walk past, but my parking ticket was overdue, so we had to dash! Next time eh

So glad we finally met after a few false starts.... right, who's meeting next?

fettle · 30/05/2008 13:16

Oh Bodkin and Nelly, I'm sorry - we spent too long deciding what bubble bath to buy! I've got a photo of DD with Iggle Piggle though!

I hope none of you catch this cold I've got - I feel really awful today - thankfully due to the wonders of Mumsnet, I've discovered I can take ibuprofen whle breast-feeding and feel so much now having taken some about an hour ago, but I'm looking forward to DH coming home, so I can disappear under my duvet for a while!

And I still can't get over that little boy weeing over the side of the activity castle! Please Greedy, Honey, Chooster, Rainbow (others with boys) tell me that that is not normal and that you can train your boys to have some self-control over where they get out their willies and wee!!! I felt so sorry for the little girl who's mother was shouting at her to move out of the way of the shower - I don't think she had any idea what was going on!!

fettle · 30/05/2008 13:56

Bodders - just been on the BBC news website - we were lucky to get home yesterday by the sounds of it with that torrential rain! Lucky we left when we did!

Bodkin · 31/05/2008 20:49

Just bumping us out of oblivion!

Looks like it's just me and you around here these days, Fettle... cor, I can even hear my typing echoing it's so empty in here...

greedygreedyguzzler · 01/06/2008 09:26

hiya everyone i am BACK!!!!! thanks for keeping it so quiet on here so it didnt take me too long to catch up!!!! i thought it would take hours but it didnt at all!!!

wont remember everything though obviously!!!

i am ery jealous of fettle and bodders meeting up! i want to meet EVERYONE!!!!! i am sure there must be someone else i can meet......otherwise you will have to put up with me again honey sooner than you were thinking!!!!!

glad your op went well fettle and maybe you will finally get to have that elusive FSAB soon!!! (what was bodders really like?!) im considering a coil too by the way, so let me know what its like! my freind had one that fell out and she found it in her knickers when she went to the loo and thought it was a twig!!!! apparently she did wonder when she had sat on a twig without noticing, but then she realised what it was!!! kind of puts me off a bit!!

bodders - so glad you are enjoying isla so much more now. (what was fettle really like?!)

honey - hello! you have been quiet on here too recently. guess its the holidays isnt it? not much free time for MN.

hello rainbow........why the wheat/gluten free cooking?

chooster - you back yet? you have SO many holidays!!!!

ok then let me tell you about our hols!!!

our flights were wonderful!!!! hard work, but the kids were amazing!!! marcy slept for about 2 out of the 4 hours both ways and was fine the rest of the time and the other two were wonderful until about the last half an hour each way when they got really bored and fidgety!! i couldnt believe how lucky we were on the way there and was fully expecting a nightmare on the way back but it was fine!!!

our villa was lovely and it was nice to have my parents with us for the irst week cos we got to go out for dinner once and have a turkish bath/ massage thing too.

the kids obviously loved the pool ans we taught ellis to swim ..............i know he is nearly 5 and should be able to already, but we were proud of him!!! kiki decided to jump in the big pool (instead of the baby pool)without her armbands on once and i was reading my book at the time. i think i must have heard the splash and then not heard her voice for about 20 seconds and looked up and then i saw her struggling under the water. it was possibly the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. i couldnt stop reliving it and thinking what if i hadnt looked up . not sure why she took her armbands off. it didnt bother her at all though and she wanted to jump straight back in again afterwards!
the place we stayed in had about a million restaurants and i managed to put the 6lb i lost on my egg and grapefruit diet back on plus another 3lb!!!! 9lb in 2 weeks is quite an achievement i think!!!! i did drink a LOT of beer though!!

marcy was a superstar baby all holiday and was so happy to do anything we wanted more or less. only problem was her sleeping!!! she either woke at about 2/3am or woke at 6am everyday so i think we only got about 1 decents night sleep when we were there. she did get her 2 top teeth come through though! and she finally seems to have learnt how to sit.........still doesnt roll, but at least she can sit!!! her hair hasd gone blond and curly and a bit frizzy (poor thing!), its completely wild!!! i will post a photo when i get round to it!!!

depressed to be back home again, and knackered cos the kids are still on turkey time which means waking up 2 hours earlier than normal! as if 6am wasn't early enough!!!.................and did it work the other way round, did they sleep till 9am when we got to turkey? did they buggery!!!

anyway..........off to tidy away the breakfast things!

byeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 01/06/2008 09:30

almost forgot to say......my sis started ttc again this month and she is on day 29 today.......................

Bodkin · 01/06/2008 21:29

Oh bugger - I have lost everything I posted... that is so annoying - I even copied it cos the computer was being weird but it won't let me paste it.... grrrr...

Anyway, quick summary, welcome home Greedy! Glad you had a good hol but that must ahve been very scary about Kiki - thank god you looked up when you did. Sounds like your kids did you proud though and were all very well behaved!

Can't quite compete, but my mum has a caravan booked down the road from me in Weymouth, so we'll stay with her for a couple of nights this week. It's a great site with a lovely pool and spa... only problem is how I'm going to fit a travel cot in the bedroom - there is not enough room to swing a cat!

Now then, as to what Fettle is really like, well, apart from the "love" and "hate" tattoes on her knuckles, she was pretty normal....

Bodkin · 01/06/2008 21:30

oh, and good luck and fingers crossed for your sis!

greedygreedyguzzler · 02/06/2008 13:10

poo! my sis' AF arrived yesterday while she was having lunch at our house................ and she definately wasn't invited..........AF that is, not my sis!

my 3 are still on turkish time.............aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!!! marcy was awake from 2-3am, then ellis woke at 5.30 and kiki woke at 6am. would have been much easier to cope with if dh and i hadnt been up till midnight catching up on LOST!!! when will i learn hey?!!!

im getting tough with marcy tonight! dh and i both decided last night that we had had enough! she can sleep through cos she did until we went on holiday, and she has 4 teeth all through so no more look imminent, so i am going to let her cry tonight! sorry if she keeps any of you awake, cos she can be REALLY loud!!! she was just playing with us last night though, cos every time dh or i went into her she stopped crying and gave us big grins......shes a cheeky monkey! lets hope we can stick to it and she doesnt wake up the other two!

off to watch a million episodes of eastenders now!

fettle · 02/06/2008 20:46

Yeah - Greedy you're back - it's not just me and Bodders anymore! sounds like you had a great holiday, but can't believe how lucky you were with Kiki's swmmming attempt! If it makes you feel any better, I did exactly the same thing, except I was quite a bit younger and I just decided to step into the swimming pool. Mum just lent over and pulled me up by my hair!! Well done Ellis on learning how to swim - he must be so proud of himself!

Your poor sis - but good on her trying again. Is she still trying AIS?

Bodders - I can't believe you told everyone about my tattoos! I thought we agreed to keep quiet about the fact that I really am a bored trucker?!

Chooster - hope your cruise is going well and noone has crawled overboard or succumbed to sea sickness!

Honey - hope you had a good half-term?

I'm finally getting better - I've been laid low for the last few days with a horrible flu/cold virus, which poor Toby must have had! I feel really guilty that I wasn't that sympathetic with his poor sleeping and constant crying and now I realise quite how ill he must have been. Anyway, all better now!

Right - must go, early night again to make sure all better.

Bodkin · 02/06/2008 21:25

Sorry for blowing your cover Fettle! Glad you're feeling better now - is Toby also back to his usual smiley self and letting you get a bit more sleep?

Greedy - that's a shame for your sis, hope she wasn't too disappointed.

Am I a complete bastard for feeling a leetle teeny bit "nur nur ne nur nur" that Marcy is not sleeping her usual 12 hour stints Nah, seriously, hope she gets back on form soon - broken nights and early mornings are NO FUN at all.

However, we have been having progress on the sleeping here - I think in the last week she has slept though (well, til about 6ish) 3 or 4 times - seemingly coinciding with me giving her tea and a bowl of baby porridge made with the cream off the top of the milk Probably turn her into a total porker, but hey, a full night's sleep is a full night's sleep

Of course, now I've said it out loud she'll be up 7 times tonight....

Chooster · 02/06/2008 21:35

HELLO LADIES!!!! Back too and just been catching up with things... So fettle and bodkin have met eh . Sounds like you guys had fun and that your DD's had a great time too. I'd love to meet more of you especially as my RL pal from this thread (Mrsmc) has buggered off to Spain . She's gone now by the way, left a few days ago. Wonder if she's settling in OK, even though her parents are there it still must be a bit of an upheaval moving to a new country with a wee baby.

Anyway, welcome back Greedy! Sounds like you had a ball. Great to hear the kids behaved themselves but that must have been a massive shock when you saw Kiki in the pool - your stomach must turn whenever you think of it. And well done Ellis on the swimmming . Max still has his bands on (except when he's in the hot-tub ) but I'm going to make a big effort to help him swim soon.

Our holiday was fantastic too, except for the weather which was a bit hit and miss, but I would really recommend a cruise with kids, just maybe not the exact one we did. The only problem with ours was that for two of the stops (for Rome and Florence), the port was quite far from anywhere interesting so you needed to take a really pricey and non-child friendly tour or arrange it all yourself, which would not have been Max / Theo friendly either. So we just stayed on the ship those days and have got to say being docked in a port all day was PERFECT for a little boy who loves cranes, boats, trucks, lorries etc... He was fascinated! . The last day we stopped at a place called Villefranch on the South coast of France and it was spectacular, a beautiful little village surrounded by mountains and gorgeous blue sea and Max says, "this is rubbish, there's nothing to see". I guess beauty really is on the eye of the beholder . So all in all a great trip but I reckon a cruise round the Greek islands or something similar may be better with younger kids. Oh, and the boys slept well too and ate well which was great, Theo got to try loads of new food from the buffets they had there. The only slight problem was that I was running out of formula on the last day or two (God knows how I could mess up something so important ), so I supplemented a couple of bottles with Spanish semi-skimmed milk.... which Theo drained and seemed to love . I dont think I'll have too much problem when I move him onto cows milk . Oh, and the comment earlier about the hot tub was that there was a couple of hot tubs the kids could go in and within a day Max was well in his element - swimming ibn the pool then hopping in the jacuzzi with his armbands on to start with. However he soon ditched those once he realised they didn't quite fit the image . And that was when he was doing his vague attempt at swimming. Naturally I was very proud of his attempts but he kept sinking like a stone . I think we need to work on it a bit

Phew, anyway, better head off as DH has come home from work early tonight, doesn't he know this was my MN catch-up time .

Sorry to hear about your sis Greedy - Good to hear she's back with it though - fingers crossed .

Any more house news Honey - Sorry you missed out on the other one.

iamamummy · 03/06/2008 11:24

hi ladies!!

where does the time go eh?!!

greedy and chooster glad you had lovely holidays we will be lucky if we get a weekend break at butlins at this rate!

bodkin and fettle - so you are officially rl pals now! so pleased you go on well and your little girls got matching shoes - how cute!!

where is seaside lately? hope all is well with her!

when is cityangel due?

rainbow - how are you coping? is number 4 on the way yet?

we have been rushed off our feet here, df work has gone mad so he is in demand 8 days a week so me and oscar have been chipping in a bit with painting and general rubbish removal which is quite nice in away it gets us out and about - oscar hates being at home he is such an outdoors baby, sainsburys being his fave trip out of all his face just beams the whole way round the shop

oh its my birthday soon and df bought me an early gift - a coffee table aquarium!! its beautiful so il have to post somme pics when i get a min...and before i forget we are officially TTC again ssssshhhhhhhhhh

love to all of you xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/06/2008 12:26

iamamummy - i am SO excited that you are ttc again!!! you have made me feel all broody just thinking about it! good luck................happened first month for me second time after taking about 6 months first time round so you will prob be pg before you know it!!! how old is oscar now? just trying to work out what age gap you will have........they will be nice and close anyway which will be lovely!

bodders - you will be pleased to know that marcy woke up at 5.45am this morning too! she didnt wake up in the night, but no more 7 till 7 for me at the mo! actually having said that as i had decided to get tough with her last night and then didnt need to i transfered it to this morning! i was being lazy really and ignoring her whinging cos it wasn't full on crying and then she went back to sleep about 6.20am till 7.15am. i rem reading once that 'she who shan't be named' suggested leaving them to cry in the mornings if they wake before 6am to try and stop early morning waking. anyway, i will wait and see what happens tomorrow mornig!

anyone esle still into lost by the way? WTF is going on with it all hey? every episode i watch i say "its getting ridiculous, im not going to watch it anymore" and then obviously i do! dh has even got me into listening to the podcasts as well!!! there was one good bit last night though when sawyer came out of the sea!!!..............oh my god that man is so gorgeous!!!!!

glad your hol was good chooster.... i am right in thinking that was your 52nd holiday so far this year aren't i?

i am off to book up center parcs now for october...............yippee!!!

fettle - meant to say about boys and weeing, they dont all whop their willies out and wee anywhere they feel like! ellis doesnt anyway...........but it is handy having a willy cos its so much easier when they say "i need a wee" and you are in the park or on the way to school. much easier than getting kiki to squat and avoid weeing all over her shoes!

ok..off to book a holiday

iamamummy · 03/06/2008 17:01

maybe you should try for numero 4 greedy?! did you have a chat with dh?
oscar will be 4 months on the 6th june - time is flying past and he is such a big boy now he can half sit up constantly laughs i just love him so much!!

very about you booking another holiday!! especially with this gloomy weather we are having

im off now to stir my stew

honeyapple · 03/06/2008 19:50

crikey iamamummy- you're brave! Hope the TTC happens quickly for you...I think... I mean having a one year old and a newborn is like my idea of HELL! But there we go!

Greedy and chooster- welcome home.

Sorry to Bodders and fettle for going awol recently- I'm back now!

2nd house we liked- silly vendors wouldnt accept are very reasonable offer... so we decided to walk away (didnt really love the house so not bothered really!). Put in a very cheeky low offer on another house yesterday (was rejected unsurprisingly)... hopefully get DP to agree to up our offer as I think this 3rd house has quite a lot of potential (is totally hideous at the moment). What was it with swirly plaster on every wall?

DD trying to come downstairs- better go stick her back in bed...

BTW DD is only just beginning to swim and she is 5...

OP posts:
fettle · 03/06/2008 20:37

Evening all

Honey - you're back too!!!!!!! We missed you!!!! Shame about the house, but hopefully you'll get this next house! You would think that it would be getting to be a buyer's market with everything going on in the financial/housing market, so just hang in there!

bodders - I'm with you - I didn't say anything as i felt a bit mean, but i was secretly pleased that Marcy wasn't such a great sleeper anymore too!!![evil laugh emoticon]!!!! Only joking, Greedy - hope she's back to normal soon!

Your few days with your Mum in a caravan sounds fun - but good luck with the travel cot erection!!!!

i've finally got DH giving Toby a bottle when he wakes at night now, which means that last night, I didn't actually get out of bed until 5.30am! So blissful - finally feeling like I'm catching up some sleep and with my Mum staying I've spent the last 2 mornings in bed asleep too, while she looks after Toby and DD is at school!

Chooster - you're holiday sounds fab! will work on DH and a cruise at some point in the future, but as I'm not working now (only got 17 days left of being paid), holidays aren't high on our list of spending priorities anymore (fettle thinks of of the lovely family time she's going to have instead of lazes on a beach by the sea!!). We are definitely planning our trip up to Scotland for August though, so we'll have to get in touch and meet up somehow. When you back to work (sorry to remind you, but isn't it soon?) What days are you working? What childcare option did you go with? Have I any other questions to ask you?!

Iamamummy - are you mad? 2 children under 1 (but then you're still so young yourself really aren't you, so have boundless energy to cope! Good luck - hope it happens quickly for you! Are you back on the TTC threads again then?

Greedy - when you started properly TTC again then?! Coil is settling down - still wonder what on earth possessed me to have one fitted as have AF again really really heavily! Hoping it won't last for 3 months!

Toby is being a bit unsettled this evening so far, hoping we're not in for a bad night - back to 2 wakings again, which is pretty blissful after the last 3 weeks!

Well - off to bed for another early night - really knocked it out of me this virus.....

xxx

Chooster · 04/06/2008 10:48

Wow, ttc again Iamamummy!!!! Bloody hell Thats exciting though!!! We need another bump on here, especially those of us who are not going to do it again - we need to enjoy your pregnancy virtually! So, maybe rainbow, Greedy and perhaps Firsty next . Oscar sounds like a little star as well Iam - you must be so proud of him. Time is flying by so quick.

Ah, dont be cheeky Greedy, its only my 47th holiday this year ... Anyway you can talk, booking another one too . Actually I need to book Centreparcs again for September... Which one do you go to?? By the away fettle greedy is right, Max doesn't lob his willy out randomly either, in fact he has a ridiculously strong bladder - sometimes I worry its not right . But he can wake up after a 12 hour sleep and then wait another hour before he does a wee. He does seem to drink enough too so it must be a bladder of steel!

Sorry to hear that Marcy is not a 7-7 girl anymore but it makes us all feel better, so its not all bad !!! She's still a good girl though by the sounds of things. Actually, Theo has slept til 7am the last two mornings and not woken in the night. I've used the Cow and Gate Good night milk both nights so am hoping thats the key... But we'll see how the next few nights go.

Come back soom cityangel so we know how you are and what stage you are at... Looking forward to celebrating another birth on here.

Hope our stray members of this thread venture back soon .

by the way, would love to meet you in Scotland Fettle!!!

Chooster · 04/06/2008 10:53

Oh yes, your questions fettle! I'm going back to work on July 7th but I may move it a week as a friend is getting married in chicago on the 5th and we are trying to see if we can make it. I'll be working 28 hrs a week but only 3 days in the office. The rest of the time I'll make up when the kids are in bed. Theo and Max will be in nursery 2 and a half days a week and spend a day (Mondays) with their Dad and / or PIL depending on how busy DH is. Theo has his first visit to nursery this afternoon as I've got him booked in for a half day until he starts properly, just so he gets used to
it. Hope it'll all work out!!! . If not I'll just drop more time at work...

iamamummy · 04/06/2008 11:16

hello! im posting 2 days in a row - doing well!!!

we are not going at it hammer and tongs ladies so it will probably take a fair old few months especially as to conceive oscar it took over a year! we will just see what happens

honey - swirly plaster aka artex is my dfs pet hate as he is a plasterer he is the one that gets the grotty job of going over it when people move homes, just what were they thinking?!!

fettle - how are you bearing up now? has the op improved things or is it too early to tell? im not back on the ttc threads i think il steer clear a) because i dont want to become obsessed like before and b)_ if i join our old thread temp buddies i feel its a bit like rubbing salt into the wound for the other ladies but i am contemplating starting a ttc weight loss thread in the weight loss threads as i have stacked on the weight and now at my heaviest of 12 bloody stone so seriously need to do something about that!

chooster - i hope your work plans turn out as planned but its good you have the option to drop hours if needbe.

i am going to enrol oscar into swimming lessons this week at our local pool they can start from 4 months and guarantee they will be doggy paddling after 1 term so i think its worth a shot!

byeeeeexxx
