Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

i know fettle - its been an emotional 10 days i can tell you, me and dp have completely fallen in love again with eachother and of course little oscar.

i have a urine infection at the moment which keeps me awake at night with back pain but i think we are coping ok.

you can all come to my wedding!

dp bought me a temporary ring and is taking me shopping for a "proper" one. he wants to buy an antique ring that will go up in value that we hand down through our family - how sweet

off to give oscar a big hug from you xx

Aw Iampg!!! Your story gave me goose-bumps! Thats so lovely of your DP - what a gem . Its our first thread wedding And huge congratulations on the birth of Oscar, sorry that it didn't go exactly to plan but it all worked out in the end - it sounds like you got some good mid-wives there - that makes all the difference I reckon.

Wow, that was a monster post fettle!!! It would be fab to get a huge villa somewhere for all of us . Good on your mum - she sounds ace . can you send her round here . When my boys were all ill my mum asked if I wanted her to come round but I told her that I didn't have enough time to look after her as well .

Bodkin · 16/02/2008 22:30

Wow Iampg - what a rollercoaster of emotions you've been on! Well done for doing such a great job on your birth story - I always love reading people;s birth stories, I dunno why! Shame things didnt go quite to plan, but sounds like you were pretty in control throughout, despite what sounds like a long and exhausting labour. What a star your DP is for proposing like that - the idea of the antique ring sounds so special Hope you're not in too much pain and are getting plenty of rest. The pics are gorgeous! How overdue were you in the end? - he looks really alert and a good size.

Chooster - poor MrsMc - sounds like she is really having a tough time. No wonder she can't get on here. when you say Xavier isn't sleeping much - is he content or is he howling when awake? Has she got a sling to pop him in to get him off to sleep? We had a couple of nights at the beginning with Isla where we had to put her in the sling at about 2am and walk up and down the living room until she went to sleep in it. Then DP gingerly sneaked into bed (still wearing the sling and sleeping baby) once she was well and truly in a deep sleep, we (somehow) got her out of it and slipped her into bed next to us. Anyway, it would be lovely to hear from her whenever she can, remind her we are not expecting her usual diligent round-up of everyone, just a "me me me" post and she can be as frank as she likes, we'll all support however we can

Fettle - thanks for your lovely words - it has been a tough few months, but things really are improving everyday, and Isla is finally becoming Isla the Smiler She's back to just 1 feed a night now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel for you! Mind you, now I've said that it will probably go tits-up again...
Sorry to say, but I would prefer to meet without DPs! Mine is still unaware of my double life on Mumsnet I would like to bring DD1 though I think - if only to get her some cheap Clarks shoes Do you have my e-mail address to arrange a suitable time?

Firsty - glad to hear the op went well. Must be lovely to be home. How is Ty's sleeping now?

City - wow - 17 weeks - you're nearly halfway there! Great that you heard a heartbeat - it's so amazing isn't it.

Honeyapple - blimey, 5 of you in a 2 bedroom house? Do your elder 2 share a room then? It would be great if you could find somewhere that just needed a bit of work.

Cor, all this talk of holidays... mmmm...... think we are just going to have a wet week in Cornwall in the campervan

Greedy - new childminder sounds good - so when do you officially start back? I'm thinking of booking Isla into the nursery where DD1 went 1 morning a week to start off with, then see how we go. I'm supposed to be doing DPs accounts now he is VAT registered (yawn) I can hardly wait... will probably spend all my time on here though... that's what I used to do in my old accounting job!

Well, I don't think I've quite rivalled Fettle for longest post ever ever ever award, must try harder next time

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/02/2008 22:31

chooster - yes the 7 hour car hell was during the day!!! they were all angels on the way up..................singing songs, playing i spy and prodding/ entertaining marcy.............but the way home was a differetn story! wont be visiting the inlaws again for a while!!! last time we went i was about 14 wks pg and had to keep stopping the car every 1/'2 hr for me to be sick cos my morning sicknes was at its worse!!! good excuse not to visit................remind me of my car journey again in 6 months time when i talk about going to anglesey again!! right then alexandros palace!!!!!!..................yes we stayed there and my mum and dad came and my sis and her dh, cos it has 5 bedrooms. the beach is about a 10 min drive (not a great beach cos its a bit pebbly and i think it might be black sand) but it did for the kids! main problem is there are no restaurants or anything within walking distance. wasnt a problem for us really cos we just had bbqs or took it in turns to go out for dinner in couples cos we had built in babysitters. there is a town quite near which is where the beach is (might be polis?) and thats quite sweet for a wander round and has a few nice restaurants. the villa itself is fab............loads of space, nice pool and jaccussi outside and a bubbling bath inside which my two loved!!! great views and a friendly local donkey! there is a small supermarket within walking distance too, but nothing great! kiki was about 18months when we went and ellis was 3 and it was good for them. wow i can talk!!! also.......paphos is about an hours drive away and there is loads to do there!

fettle - wow! what a post!!!! and yes marcy does laugh at the other two....mainly at ellis which breaks my heart a bit when i hear kiki saying "look at me marcy......look at me all the time!" she just isnt as manic or animated as him, so i think he is the most entertaining to watch. poor little kiki!

iamamum - i LOVE a good birth story! yours was FAB!!! and getting engaged too.....wow!!! sorry to hear about the tear, being stitched is so undignified isn't it? but its over now, and your little oscar is here safe, sound and gorgeous!!! well done you!! i so know what you mean about falling in love all over again................i think when you have your first you just spend hours staring at the baby and then your dh/dp thinking "wow, did we really make something that beautiful!!!" by the time you get to your second or third you spend ages staring at the baby and then dh/dp thinking "is it your turn to change her or mine/ is it your turn for a lie in or mine!!!"

firsty - gald all went well in hospital, you are abck home now then are you? i bet your men missed you.

ok....of to bed........it is dhs birthday afterall, so he might be expecting more than just a peck goodnight!!!..............why does his birthday have to be so close to valentines hey?!!! that will be twice in a week!!!!! hes off to malaysia tomorrow with work so i will be moaning and stressed all week!!!!! just thought i would warn you all!!!

Bodkin · 16/02/2008 22:33

PS - Chooster - I think your mum and mine are one and the same! I want a mum like Fettle and Greedy's !

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/02/2008 22:36

oh bodders!!! crossed with you!!! glad isla is a smiler again!!! cant believe your dp still doesnt know about your double mn life................why dont you want him to know? would he take the piss? i told one of my friends about you lot and how great you all were and that i felt like i knew you all really well even though i had never met you and she looked at me like i was a complete loon and has never stopped taking the piss!!!!! so i wish i had never told her!!!

anyway, really must go and give dh his birthday treat!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/02/2008 22:39

just one more thing...................my mum gets up early in the morning with the kids when she is here or we are there and does everything for them..........................i was asking dh the other day what we woukld be like..................will we get up early with the grandchildren to give ellis/ kiki or marcy a break or will we think "sod it, we deserve a lie in, we have done the getting up early bit before!!"...............i like to think we will get up early and help our kids out, but who knows!!!

cityangel · 16/02/2008 22:55

Lampg thanks for sharing your very personal story. Oscar's birth sounds very painfu.. he is soooooo cute what a wonderful outcome!

Iampg - wow what a wonderful birthstory and engagement story all in one. It is great that your fiance was so good at reminding all the midwives of your wishes. And so glad you are enjoying your first weeks with Oscar. Sorry to hear about the uti and with stitches - ouch, hope that you are doing all your wee's in the shower/bath or I will sit here with big ouch look on my face. Have you tried lavender oil in a bath? - worked well with my stitches and soreness.

Cityangel - wow, great to hear that you got to hear the heartbeat, it is such a lump in the throat kind of moment. I am so happy to hear that you are 17 weeks already.

greedy - with your grandchildren it won't be a case of 'do I want lie-in' or 'help with children', it will be: hey I can spoil these kids rotten, enjoy every moment, get loads of cuddles and then when they get grotty I can hand them back to their parents - what a wonderful life!!!!! I am sure your mum is enjoying every minute of being able to spend time with her grandchildren. Hope you are coping today without your dh being around, hope the children are being little angels for you. How is the new childminder working out?

Bodkin / fettle, I am going to clarks, street next saturday, 23rd for one last stroll around the shops. If you want to join me there, then I would be happy to get the coffee/dougnut/icecream etc. as long as you can put up with my endless need for the toilets with baby pushing on my bladder .

On Saturday 1st I am driving north, and probrably will be going to the Mall, Bristol, if anyone wants to meet there for coffee, or futher up the M5 or M6, I am trying to break up my journey back home as much as possible. Alone with big belly stuck in car for hours on end is not much fun. But I will be glad to get home.

I arrive home on Mothers day, it is a strange feeling that I will finally be home on the day that was my edd for the baby I miscarried and it being mothers day, when I finally get to see my children again . I get the feeling I will just want to flop onto the sofa and grab both children and dh and hug them for hours on end.

Firststar - great to hear that your op is all over and that you are feeling better now that it is all over. hope that you bounce back to full health in no time at all. Thank you for asking about when I finish for mat leave, I only have two weeks left, I will be so glad for it to be over and to be back home. I am feeling much better than I was, and resting.

Fettle - your mum sounds great, doing so much, it is easy to see why you love her so much!

Bodkin - did you try Isla on the hipp goodnight formula? how did you get on?

I am not sure if I have missed someone here? I am definitely in preggo-brain mode at the moment. But I don't have long to go now, then I will be back into baby-brain instead

fettleandbabyfettle · 17/02/2008 15:52

so sorry for my epic on Friday - I think my 2 glasses of wine had gone very quickly to my head!!

Anyway......

Iampg - what a lovely idea about the antique ring - you've got yourself a very special man there! He really did sound so in control during your labour - not like my lovely DH who fainted during mine!!

Bodders - no worried about meeting in cognito - still can't believe that you've kept your secret life for so long!!. As next week you are busy, how about Easter hols? I think I've got your e-mail, I'll search it out and contact you that way - don't want any stalkers to meet us at the same time!!

Greedy - poor little Kiki. MAde me so sad to read that she feels left out. Maybe you should encourage her while DS is at school? I'm sure when they are all older, DS will be the one feeling left out while Marcy and Kiki are sharing clothes and make-up (well at least I hope DS doesn't want to join in!!). Hope DH enjoyed his birthday!

Chooster - had a quick read through the first few bits of the book and what I've learnt is this:

Medical definition of sleeping through - 5 hours!
Therefore, if Theo is doing that, you're already there!! But it does say that once you've achieved this, you can work on making it longer and longer - thank goodness for that!
Some babies do need to feed every 4 hours through the night and will need to until they are over 1. Therefore if you think your baby is hungry, there is nothing you can do, except feed them, as they will settle for a while, but then just wake up again as they would still be hungry.
Babies up to a year are supposed to wake at least once between 7-7 - so that is normal!
Also, she hates leaving babies to cry, so I'm with her on that one!
I'll fill you in any other interesting tidbits I find!
But.... toby slept from 6.30pm til 3.30am and then to after 7am this morning!! Couldn't believe it!
The girls on the pg after mc are missing and a bit worried about MrsMc - do you think she'd mind if I passed on your news about her? (although I think a couple of them stalk us on here to find out about her anyway!).

Rainbowy - sorry we're in London on the 1st. Not sure what our plans are for next Saturday - I'll e-mail you if we think of coming down your way. I'm glad to hear you sounding better - 2 weeks will fly past and you'll be home before you know it!

City - you've made me want to get married again!!

As for mothers, mine is wonderful, but doesn't really do the up early thing,as she needs her sleep, but she's so much help during the rest of the day, that I'm not complaining!

take care all

xxx

doesn't look like I'm capable for short post!

MrsMcJnr · 17/02/2008 17:37

Ladies, hello! Many apologies for being AWOL for so long ? it?s been 3 weeks and 3 days since my last post which funnily enough is the age of my beautiful son Xavier (pronounced X-avier) who was born on 24/1! I am in awe of all of you who managed to post in the early days, I can?t seem to get anything done other than feeding and tending to my baby, not that I resent that at all! There is no way I can catch up so can anyone do a brief summary for me? How are you all and how are all the babies?! I have put a couple of pics on my profile. xxxx

scorpio1 · 17/02/2008 18:11

Your baby is so beautiful looks a bit like mine when he was born Wow, glad you are ok.

I have less than 8 weeks to go now!!

Chooster · 17/02/2008 19:07

Quick post as am off out for a drink with a friend tonight - Social life? Me??? .

Thanks for the info on the villa Greedy!! Sounds great but it may be better to go with a few other people, i.e babysitters! as it will just be me and DH and the kids. But it looks fab!!!

Yes, out mothers do sound similar Bodders - mine is lovely and means well, but the reality is that my Dad does a huge amount of running around after her. When I told her I wasn't able to look after her too she told me she'd bring my Dad to do that bit . She does make me laugh... Anyway they are coming to stay for a night this week (Friday I think) as DH is away most of the week - My mum really doesn't do staying at people's houses only cos she likes her own things around her so we'll see how that goes . Your DH is away too isn't he Greeds??? So we'll both be a bit stressed

Poor Kiki - Aw I really felt for her when I read that "Look at me Marcy" - Poor wee soul - as fettle says they'll be great pals later on

Hey not long to go know Rainbowy!!! Hooray . It would be great to see a picture of your little ones!

Great to see you posting MrsMc!!! Hope Xaview is a little more settled now

Not long now Scorpio - I can't believe how quick time is flying by.

Fettle - Thanks for the info from the book. According to that Theo is perfectly normal . Last night was pretty good - he stirred at midnight then 4.30am then woke properly at 6.30am. So not bad at all as I didn't feed him to settle him in the night. I'm sure I may eat my words but his nights are getting better and better so I dont think I'm going to stress about it too much and just see if he'll slowly start sleeping straight through. Roll on a crap night tonight .

Hope you all had a great weekend!!! We've had a really good weekend and had some good trips out.

greedygreedyguzzler · 17/02/2008 20:26

rainbowdays - that was a lovely post from you.........not that they arent normally, but i felt like it was very personal. you made me cry when you said about going home. come over to herts....i will meet you!!!

fettle - i must have made it seem worse than it was with kiki getting left out. its not bad really and she does get to see a lot more of marcy than ellis does and she is all over her when he is at school. ellis is just noisier and marcy prefers to stare and giggle at him rather than kiki! and ellis will definately be into the clothes and make up!!! he is a real girly boy!!! you still managed another epic without the wine!!! 5 hours is hardly sleeping through is it?!!! is that what all those mums mean when they say their babies slept through from 3 days!!!

HEY MRS!!!!!!!! welcome back!!!!!! i am still none the wiser on how to pronounce Xaviers name............................help!!! off to look at profile pics in a min , yours and iamamums!!!...........hey i thought you said he didnt sleep!!!...................looks pretty zonked in those pics!!! very cute too! enjoy enjoy enjoy!!!

ok i have a couple of questions...........first of all when did everyone get their £250 child trust vouchers? should i have had marcys by now? cant rem if it has arrived and i have misplaced it, or if i havent had it yet?

and also...........................marcy quite often wakes around 5am and chats away to herself fro about 15 - 30mins. she seems perfectly happy and doesnt cry.......................would you just leave her to settle herself back to sleep cos thats what i do, but sometimes i feel a bit mean that she is awake and lying in the dark chatting and i am ignoring her trying to get back to sleep myself!

yes chooster - i am alone till friday..................well, apart from the kids!! i cried when dh left and that set ellis off! he was really upset for about 30 mins bless him. i knew if i cried i would set him off and i tried not to, but couldnt stop myself............hey, im premenstrual what can i say! where is your dh going?

greedygreedyguzzler · 17/02/2008 22:04

i have been lurking on here all night cos i am so sad and have nobody to talk to! even went back to re-read old posts..................when i went overdue and before i had met my little marcy! seems like a lifetime ago i was pg!

been looking up threads on bleeding too for my sis. she has still only had a little bit, but isnt getting any symptoms at all which is worrying me. she hasn't got the money to go for a private scan, do you lot think i should pay for one for her? not sure she would let me actually, but i could try.

ok......off to bed now.............have to check the house first for axe murderers, rapists etc. speak tomorrow hopefully!!

cityangel · 17/02/2008 22:32

Greedy big hugs. I hope things work out for your sister. When is dh back? I wish I'd known you were lurking I'd have pooped on for a chat!

MrsMC you sound busy! I am getting ready for that?! How is Xavier?

I can't believe I have to go to work tomorrow I'm off to pretend I have the day off! Have a great week everyone.

honeyapple · 18/02/2008 16:55

hello all- a busy weekend on here, bit to have missed all the chat!

Don't think I will attempt a complete catch up...

Mrs- lovely to here from you, looking forward to hearing your birth story when you have the time and/or inclination. Hope that Xavier starts to get his days and nights sorted- just takes some babies a bit longer.

Iamamum- great birth story- sorry it didnt all go to plan, but next time you will get your home birth! Have you been able to try BF? Your DP/fiance sounds lovely- I have been waiting for years to get a proposal from my DP! Dont reckon it will ever happen .

Greedy- I am sure Marcy is totally happy chatting away to herself- if she wasnt, she'd let you know! Dex was mumbling away for ages this morning with me ignoring him- but then he started moaning so I went to look at him and he had his comfort blanket over his head ... oops... He has taken to cuddling a terry square- tis quite sweet- but not when he starts suffocating himself with it. I dont want to take it away from him cos he likes it .

firsty- glad to hear op went well and you are back with Ty.

right- hi to everyone else- off to look at these new baby pics...

OP posts:
honeyapple · 18/02/2008 17:51

ahhhh lovely pics... what gorgeous boys .

Dex just did the biggest poo ever... it had squelched over his wrap and down his trousers onto his socks! Nice. Have to admit I have started giving him a bit of food (a tad early some may say...) and he has (so far) been really excited about it. He licked/sucked some cucumber... and then a tomato... had some spoons of babyrice with apple... also he has had his first hair cut ... it was just getting too crazy and DP said it looked too ridiculous- so I relented and snipped it- now he looks much more normal . Babies dont stay little for long , but looking forward to the next stage.

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 18/02/2008 21:32

Thanks Scorpio wow ? only 8 weeks! That has flown. I bet you are getting really excited now

Chooster ? hope the better nights are here to stay for you! things are still haywire here!

Greedy your post made me smile hope it?s not too tough with DH away. My DH was at a dinner and stayed overnight at his folks 2 Fridays ago, I was terrified at being alone all night with DS but it was ok. Hope your sis is ok x

Cityangel believe me, I get nothing done in the day ? apart from feeding and changing my baby so I guess that?s still a good day?s work!

Iamumum read your story - well done you and congratulations both on the arrival of gorgeous Oscar and on the proposal ? ahhhh! he is sooo cute!

Hello Honeyapple I promise to post my birth story soon ? I was lucky, it was a very good one lol at Dex and his poo!

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/02/2008 21:47

hey mrs! you still around? bet youre not! how strange you typing ds!!!!! are you used to be a mummy yet? how about you seaside and iamamum? used to being mummies yet?

honey - glad you said its ok to leave marcy!!! i feel like out of all the mums on here you and fettle are the ones who 'jump' to their babies first and dont like any crying at all............so if you say its ok then it must be! i hope that didnt come out wrong, but you and fettle have said several times that you cant bear to leave your boys crying at all, so if you think its ok to leave her chattering then i dont feel mean at all!

well i survived my first night and day (so far) of dh being away!!! went quite smoothly apart from marcy having a bit of a meltdown at karate!!! my angel babe has definately been replaced by a whingey babe for the past 2 weeks, since we went up to anglesey actually. i am hoping its her teeth and wont last, cos i dont like it much. feels strange not being able to say goodnight to dh on the phone cos he is 8 hrs ahead of us it doesnt really work.

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/02/2008 21:51

sorry! meant to say g'night all!!!

PinkButterfly · 19/02/2008 10:03

Good morning all. I will be first post of the morning (its taken long enough to get back here).

There is no way I am going to be able to catch up on all of the chat so will just start from today and pick up as I go along.

Need to have a look at all your profiles to see baby pics etc and try and work out how to do my own.

Iam - managed to pick up on your birth story and dp's (now df) lovely proposal. Congratulations on the arrival of Oscar and your engagement.

Look forward to catching up with you all again - will really try to get on regularly. Have missed mn chat. PBxx

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/02/2008 21:52

Very quickly, as late and I'm tired!

Just wanted to say to Greedy that I am a non-leaving them to cry mother, but poor Toby has to scream for ages sometimes as I'm just too busy to get to him. Feel so awful leaving him so distressed - just doesn't go with my character to leave helpless babies crying! But I'd definitely leave him if he was happily chatting - frequently seems happy to amuse himself (generally find that he's happily pooing to himself, but that's another story!!).

Big waves to everyone, especially MrsMc - good to "see" you back!

Got a lot of sort out in my mind at hte moment - had a meeting with work today and it is not looking as rosy as I thought. Some tough decisions ahead!

take care
