Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

Hey ladies, yup theo is finally mended . This bug / croup thing has lasted for about a week and a half, and he's been so disturbed at night. As he was off his food I was worried that he would be getting used to 2 or 3 milk feeds at night but last night he went from 6.30 to 5.30am!! Hooray!!!!! Well, he did stir at midnight but I sent DH in to pop his dummy back in and give him a bottom pat and he went back off again . He's just been adorable today and full of smiles - I think he's making up for the last wee while of being poorly. DH is still coughing away and DS1 still had his nasty rash on his arm so back to the docs for him. Don't know what they all caught but it hasn't been nice - obviously a boy thing though as I've been fine .

OOoh, its so good to hear you really chirpy Bodders. Not meaning you were miserable before or anything but it really does sound liek Isla has turned the corner and is becoming a happy smily wee thing . At least you've had some good night time sleeps out of her so I'm sure they'll just become more frequent - well, thats what I'm hoping in the chooster camp .

How are you Firsty? I hope recovering OK? As the others have said you are not redundant at all . No one is quite as good as a little boys mummy . Let us know how you are when you get a chance.

Good luck to you minxi!!! And the other ttc-ers - hope to see plently of you here soon.

So, how is the holiday Greedy! I know what you mean about dodgy telly and small beds - DH and I nagged my mum into replacing the double bed in their spare room with a king size bed not sure how I did it but I concocted some plan that made it sound like a good idea. And I never knew there were so many 'old lady is a detective and investigates grisly murders' type programmes until visiting my mum. I had to endure 'hetty wainthrop investigates' recently .....

How are you as well rainbow??? Hope the cold is clearing - I bet you can't wait to get home!! How much longer is it. How is your friends DH by the way? He was fairly poorly last time you posted.

Hi Honey - sorry that Dex has been a little unsettled but good on him for getting in that good sleep last night - must have been something in the air. Like you I'm trying to make all Theo's food myself as I mainly used bought jars etc for Max. Its going well so far but DH says I need someone to just follow me and clear up after me . I think he's right . We are also considering where to go and what to do for holidays. We've still got free plane tickets for all 4 of us to use from when DH worked for BA - need to use them by the end of March but we can go anywhere in the world - just got no clue what to do .

Hi city - good to hear that things are ging well. Would you consider a private scan or are you just going to wait until the middle of March? Whats happening about the mole checks you had done? I've having my moles looked at on Friday just to be sure they are OK.

Are you enjoying your mum being there Fettle??? It must be lovely to have a bit of support and therefore time to yourself - Bliss!!!!

How is your sis Greedy? Would she go for a private scan??

Now that Theo is better I'm popping to see Mrs and baby Xavier tomorrow afternoon so I'll give him a sniff for you all .

Bodkin · 13/02/2008 14:35

Of course I know honey! Elimination Communication! I think they call it ECing for short. I know all the beardy-weirdy hippy shit ya know I couldn't possibly see how it could work in a Western civilisation though, or a cold climate. Fair enough if you live in a country where you can dangle your baby out of a bus for a dump, but think you'd get some funny looks on the 207 down Acton Vale....

Congrats Iamamum - well done. can't wait to hear all the gory details! Hope you're enjoying your little lad and getting as much rest as possible.

Chooster - glad to hear Theo is on the mend. You must be shattered. I hope some sleep is round the corner for you.

After my inital triumph of nights 1 & 2, the last 2 nights have been utter pants, culminating in me cracking and feeding Isla last night. otherwise i think she would have dismantled the cot, crawled down the corridor and helped herself. She was going pretty darn crazy in there.... I might try your suggestion Honey and give her about a pint of formula before bed. I saw some stuff in Waitrose the other day by Hipp that has got added cereals in it - called "Good night milk" or something. Anyone tried it?

No advice on the pooing - sorry Fettle. I'm afraid I can't see Clarks Village happening in half term - got various visitors booked in so it's going to be a busy week.

Hi everyone else. hope you're all enjoying the lovely sunshine

Bodkin · 13/02/2008 14:40

Crossed with you Chooster - it seems like some sleep was around the corner - ace!

Yup, Isla really seems to have turned a corner - I said to DP this lunchtime that I don't think she has cried at all so far today, apart from about 5 minutes all told. MAJOR improvement!

Give Mrs all our love when you see her (and a right bollocking for not posting as well )

Chooster · 13/02/2008 20:07

Aye, I'll give Mrs a good telling off!!! . So glad that Isla has been on good form. You certainly deserve it! So has this put you off another one do you think? Or is it like childbirth and you'll forget quickly?

seaside72 · 13/02/2008 23:16

Congratulations Iammum (aka Iampg) !!! can't wait to hear all about it

Chooster - send love to MrsMc

Minxi - {waves] lovely to see you - we cant wat for you all to join us here - we need another flurry of three to keep us going!

cityangel - hope you are doing OK hon - when is next scan - must be soon??

Anyone know if there is a readymade (not powdered) organic formula - we are using Aptamil cartons at the mo - would much prefer to order organic but can't find one??

greedy - OK to give me hope and a light at the end of the tunnel - how much milk does Marcy take in her last feed to get her through the night?? I need to have a goal to aim for!!!

gotta go - Cass stirring
xxx

cityangel · 13/02/2008 23:25

Hey Chooster as I think I have felt him (think its a him) and the bump is getting bigger I will try and hang on 3 weeks until 7 March for the scan. We're paying then for a private scan as we were so happy with the place at the 12 week scan. We finally managed to get our doctor to fax a referral to our preferred hospital so hopefully by then we'll be back in the NHS system by then.

I had 4 moles removed 2 weeks ago. The biopsy came back clear on Monday which was something to be very relieved about. Mine changed before being pregnant but they can also change due to pg hormones.

My doctor referred me to the dermatologist and she recommended removing them after week 12. If you need this done the worst bit is the local anesthetic injection, still maybe thats nothing after giving birth Then you just need to be careful to keep the wound clean and change the sterile dressings daily. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello everyone I hope all your babies and bumps are doing ok

honeyapple · 14/02/2008 09:55

morning
Happy Valentines to all... I got a card from my DP- was one he had made with my name in little candles- was rather romantic for him! Still holding out for some flowers or chocs later! Here's hoping!!

Seaside- I havent been able to find an organic ready made milk either- using Hipp powder at the mo. Gave Dex a bottle last thing- was 7oz- but then he wanted some boob too- but he slept all night without waking up at all!! 10pm-7am

Bodders- Pmsl at the dump out the bus!! I am very pleased with my reusable nappy use- dont think I will stretch to ECing. I saw that Hipp night milk stuff in waitrose the other day too... looks good I reckon, give it a go and let us know- will Isla take a bottle yet then? You could try a cup maybe?

Right, gotta get ready for my postnatal exercise class- we did boxing last week...

x

OP posts:
Bodkin · 14/02/2008 10:57

Honey - she will take a bottle/cup, but only if she's really hungry... the bedtime feed she is not so hungry (as she's had a bit of tea) so while she'll happily glug away at the boob, she's not so keen on the formula. Will keep persevering though, but probably just use the cup now, and give the bottles a miss. Will get some of that Hipp stuff I think - although I can't really see the difference in that and just giving her a bowl of porridge before bed....

Hi City - wow - so you've got a bit of a bump now eh? How many weeks are you now?

Seaside - I've not seen any ready made organic milk - do you have a Waitrose nearby? They stock quite a lot of organic baby stuff, might be worth a shot.

Chooster - sorry to say, but yes, my baby making boots are well and truly hung up.... Shame, because I'm quite good at the pregnancy and childbirth bit... it's just the baby bit I'm rubbish at. Perhaps I'll have to become a surrogate mum

Bodkin · 14/02/2008 10:59

Ps - I didn't even know it was Valentines... that's how crap DP and I are at such things

greedygreedyguzzler · 14/02/2008 19:35

bugger!!! i have to make this so quick cos dh is cooking something romantic!.................probably curry knowing him cos hes not the most romantic man in the world but at least he tries! he gave me a card made out of recycled sheep poo this morning!!!.......honestly!!!! it is made from 'sheeppoopaper' made in north wales!

anyway! CONGRATS iamamum!!! cant wait, like everyone else to hear the details!!

cant rem what everyone said apart from

hols...............we are looking for a villa too honey.....prob in cyprus, we used 'sundance villas' last time we went and they seemed good..............just dont book alexandros palace in august cos we want to!!!

chooster - so pleased little man is better

bodders - i didnt mean it was marcys FIRST ever proper cry!!!!! just that she was REALLY going for it on that day!!!

i want free weaning stuff, whoever said that!!!

seaside - i hate to tell you, but marcy is really greedy and has 9 oz bottles! she now has 4 a day and 2 little lots of solids. but my friends twins slept through on about 5 oz before bedtime and not much during the day........so dont go by old greedyguts marcy!

firsty - i am sure ty is missing you and that dh didnt do anywhere near as good a job as you do! boys love their mummies!!! ds told me earlier i was his favourite person in the whole world and he just loved me too much!!! THAT is what Ty is thinking about you.

ok, really gotta go

hello everyone else!

hiya minxi! you will be here soon you are right!

hello fettle - glad toby loves his food....i havent tried pear yet on marcy.she is a bit of a carrot and sweet potato queen at the moment so she has that lovely orange glow!

Chooster · 14/02/2008 20:10

Happy Valentines day!!! Nothing really romantic going on here - DH off to his martial arts class. In fact I had arranged a night out with a friend tonight because neither of us remembered. Anyway a quick run to the co-op and DH has a least got a card and a bottle of wine .

Saw Mrs today and baby Xavier - he is very very cute and adorable and I gave him a sniff for you all . It was lovely to see her but she is knackered as Xavier seems to not like sleeping and she says he's awake from about 8pm to 4am ish, then sleeps for a few hours. So she's not had a chance to get to the PC but her birth sounded very chilled and natural and she's enjoying being a mum. She really wants to get on here soon and try to get some tips to get him sleeping! . Anyway, I'll let her fill in the details when she comes back and in the meantime I may post for her on the sleep section.

So, you reckon you've had it with babies eh Bodders! I reckon you've done a cracking job with Isla - I'm not sure I'd have coped so well - but you do sound fairly certain .

Enjoy your romantic meal Greedy!!! And everyone else who's lucky enough

Great news that your biopsy came back clear City - that must have been a huge relief! I've got an appt tomorrow with my GP just to give them a intial check. I'm not too concerned but they have changed a bit so I'm just being careful. Its funny but since having kids I've become so much more concerned about my health - can't believe I was a smoker for so many years . Not long til the scan .

Right, I'm heading off now I think - going to head to bed early I think - DH still in the spare room as he has an annoying cough. I just asked him when he was coming back in to our room and it prompted a big coughing fit . Funny that especially as he doesn't get bothered by the kids when he's in there.

fettleandbabyfettle · 14/02/2008 20:52

Hi all - still no time to catch up properly. Just wanted to say thank you to Chooster for passing on news of MrsMc and Xavier - poor girl with the no sleep. I know I moan about my DC sleeping, but at least they do sleep the majority of the night, except for odd occasions - is he sleeping during the day or is he wide awake always? Poor poor girl - send her our love when you next speak to her.

Well my DH is away again for Valentine's, he doesn't really agree with the commercialised rubbish of it he says (have to agree that cards are expensive), but he always seems to be away with work on the 14th every year! I've heard someone else with the same problem (also a forces wife), say perhaps her DH has another wife somewhere who insists on him spending Valentine's Day with her!! Not sure that's the case with my DH!.

Right - so off for an early night with a book/non-cry sleep solution for babies! (the toddler version worked a dream in about 2 weeks for DD, so see if I can get some help with Toby!! - maybe you should get MrsMc a copy, Chooster - I'll let you know if it's any good!!.

Really hope I catch up properly soon - but I love you all and hope you are all well!!
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 14/02/2008 22:03

beef wellington!!! not bad for my dh!!!!!!except that he bought it from m&S!!!

glad mrs is ok...........its a shame about xaviers sleeping adn its a shame that when we are first time mums we dont take much notice of the 'sleep when they are sleeping' rule. she really should if she gets the chance, i just seem to remember that when i was awake during the day i wanted some sort of normality and not just to sleep all the time otherwise you feel as if the baby has taken over your whole life completely. maybe thats just me, i dont know!

missed the bit about you not having anymore babies bodders...................AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW! shame!! i have to admit though, i told dh 2 nights ago that i thought he should have a vasectomy (when we were staying at inlaws and not getting much sleep and marcy was a grump!)...............he wasnt at all bothered........just said..........." shall i get it done before we go out for dinner then?" ( we actually managed a night out together in anglesey!!!!................i ate something dodgy and got the shits later on.......but apart from that it was lovely!!!!!). so hes not bothered if we have more or not and i have to say at the moment i am happy and knackered enough with 3!!!

lost another 1/4 lb this week.......................how pathetic is that hey!!!???? and i can timagine my beef wellington was very weight watchers!!!!! nevermind hey??!!!

we had a shit journey back yesterday.......7 hours of........ellis saying he felt sick most of the way, kiki said her tummy or neck hurt most of the time and marcy either slept or screamed.......................GREAT!!!! and they were all such angels on the way up too!!!!!! oh well, guess i cant have everything!!

gotta go and try and watch holby shitty (as dh calls it!) on iplayer.......................t'ra all!!!!!

cityangel · 15/02/2008 00:11

Late night post to say unexpected bonus today as the midwife put the machine on and we heard the heartbeat! Best valentines present of all! I can feel it loads now! Bodkin I am 17 weeks on Saturday... I am avidly reading the baby books and listening to your experiences and advice
Chooster good luck with the doc, I know what you mean about thinking more about health!
If those with sleepless nights are online now big hugs to you xxx Nearly the weekend!

For those who don't live near a Waitrose is getting organic baby milk online an option?

Bodkin · 15/02/2008 12:19

Chooster - thanks for the update on MrsMc - poor thing, it's so hard in the early days, especially with your first when you've read all the books, but unfortunately the baby hasn't! I'm sure Xavier will get his days and nights sorted soon, but some babies (both of mine) do love an evening feedathon, for the first 10-12 weeks, so she may just have to resign herself to being strapped to the sofa with a large bar of chocolate and the remote control

Greedy - that sounds like a pretty long 7 hours in the car there! Poor you. Mmmm beef wellington! my favourite! Ah, you'll be up for number 4 in no time

Big waves to everyone else... I've gotta dash and do some work before Isla wakes.

honeyapple · 15/02/2008 12:33

Sending my sleep vibes over to Xavier too ... my DS1 was a nightmare for the first few weeks too... combination of new mum and baby's personality I think. I dont think you realise the affect that sleep deprivation has until you have a baby, now I am just programmed to be used to it ...

Greedy- thanks for the holiday tip, never been to Cyprus before- did you last yr? That company looks very reasonable compared to others I have been looking at. Who would you fly with? Easyjet go to Paphos... Mind you, DP just said last night that maybe we cant really afford a proper hol this year if we want to move house too... Really want a bigger house but prices are still so high around here.
Hipp online- join the babyclub and they send you stuff.

cityangel- lovely moment hearing HB, makes it suddenly feel so much more real.

Right, Dex is asleep so off for some more holiday internet research/daydreaming...

OP posts:
greedygreedyguzzler · 15/02/2008 16:28

honey - we went with sundance villas a couple of years ago and they seemed really good.cyprus is lovely! very hot in the summer hols though, but my little ginger kiki coped so anyone can!!!it was st.lucia for us was last year!!!! wish we had saved half the money we spent on that holiday now to pay fro this years one, cos dh keeps telling me we might not be able to afford one either! bugger! i LOVE my summer hols in the sun!! cant rem who we flew with sorry.

took the kids to visit their new childminder today. she has a fab room set up for the big two so i am not at all worried about them, just a bit nervous about leaving marcy! its only for 4 1/2 hours and she will need a bottle and solids in that time and hopefully a little kip, and a trip to school to get ellis so hopefully she cant scream the whole time, can she? cant help worrying though, its so hard to tell other people how to look after your baby.

cityangel - i cant believe you are 17 wks already? are you sure?!!!!!

ok going to go and hunt down londonlottie!!

Chooster · 15/02/2008 19:30

Oh yes let me know if that book is any good Fettle - not just for Mrs but for me too. Theo is an OK sleeper but the last few nights he woken at about 4.30am ish and not settled again til 6am - then DS1 is through at about 6.30 so I've effectively started my day at 4.30 . Am not best pleased . And even though I know he's not hungry I've resorted to feeding him to get him off again - so any other tactics would be appreciated!!! I'll pass on your best to Mrs - She says he doesn't seem to sleep much in the day either - probably about 10 hours she says in total which is not much. And I totally agree with you about the sleeping thing Greedy - I was exactly the same with Max - I didn't want to sleep when he did as I felt there were other things to do and I didn't want to miss out . If only you could do it all again the first time but with the knowledge you've got now. Guess thats that same with most things though eh.

Wow, 7 hours in the car with 3 kids - guessing this was during the day? I'm reluctant to do even 2 hours with both of them during the day - you are pretty brave !!!. Mmmm your dinner sounds lovely

Great news on the heartbeat City!!!! Its amazing isn't it! It must seem so real now . Its lovely hearing all this as it brings it all back again to us old timers

How are you Firsty??? Hope recovering well?

A move would be good Honey but like you say everything is so pricey - Do you really need the extra space with Dex here?

honeyapple · 15/02/2008 20:21

just put Dex to bed... usually dont put him down for the night until about 10pm- but he has been crying and grumpy and generally knackered this evening so I thought I'd give it a go...he'll prob wake up in a minute...

Greedy- of course, st. lucia- I remember- we were all VERY jealous . Will suggest Cyprus to DP... where did you stay when you went before with sundance villas? I'm sure all your lot will be fine with the childminder- Marcy too- and as you say, it's not for very long.

Chooster- we are seriously squashed in a 2 bed house at the mo- were going to convert the loft- but now with Dex we really need to move. Would be lovely to find a 4 bed that needs a bit of work and is therefore cheap! Ha! Unlikely!

Dex is crying! Ha!

Chooster · 15/02/2008 21:31

Hey greedy, had a look at alexandros palace mainly because it has a heated pool and we want to try and go away in March. Have you been there before? It says its quite far from the beach - is there stuff to do nearby???

fettleandbabyfettle · 15/02/2008 22:05

Right - DH is back and watching cricket highlights, my beautiful mummy has just gone to bed having hoovered my whole house, cleaned the downstairs loo and our ensuite, putting DD to bed and doing all the washing up and tidying the kitchen (on top of washing the kitchen floor on Wednesday!), so I'm going to try and see if I've missed anything over the last few days on here!! [can you tell I love my mummy!!!! (could be the 2 glasses of wine I've just had very quickly though?!). Toby is sleeping fitfully, not sure sweet potato agrees with him, so this will probably take an age an be a bit disjointed - sorry!

Firsty ? I hope you are safely home all mended and recovering now. I?ve heard you mention your heart lots, but not quite sure if I know what is wrong with your heart, but hope that it is nothing too serious and operation has mended it all completely. I also wouldn?t worry about DH coping without you, they do seem to cope very well, but they only have to do it for short periods of time and I bet Ty greeted you with a great big smile and cuddle!

Bodders ? as I?ve said before it is great to hear you sounding so much more positive ? as Chooster said I don?t think I could have coped as well as you?ve been appearing to cope. Apart from the cup of tea incidence you?ve sounded so in control of it all. I feel bad when I lose it with Toby just because he?s woken 3 times in an hour in the middle of the night, so to put up with what you?ve put up with for so long must have been horrible. I hope her sleep settles back again soon for you. Shame about next week, but still think I?m a bit tired for a long drive just at the moment ? must do it though. Shall we aim for a weekend as then we can bring DP/DH to help with the darling DDs ? would be lovely to see whether our DDs get on ? imagine if they hate eachother ? mine will certainly be very shy to start off with!!! I?m hoping that Toby?s sleep is going to improve over the next couple of weeks as he eats more food, but wish I?d heard of the 4 month growth spurt before, would have helped me cope with it all a bit better I think! (but I?ve now lost 9 lbs since Christmas, while eating what I want, so I can?t complain too much about my greedy son!!!). ECing! ? all I can say is !! ? but I did PMSL at the thought of all these babies being hung out of car/bus windows!! Toby is still pooing in the early morning ? can?t hear him do it, but I do need to change his nappy, as he won?t even try to settle if I don?t!

Greedy ? glad you had an ok time in Anglesey ? sorry you had such a horrible drive home though ? we?ve not yet attempted more than 2 hours with the pair of them. DD was great when driving down from Scotland last summer though ? behaved better than me or my dad when we got stuck in traffic for 2 hours ? my excuse was pregnancy hormones, not sure what my father?s was though!. I?m so pleased that Marcy is now giggling ? Toby has been doing it for weeks, and it makes me so happy. I imagine him giggling when I?m losing it during the night!! If he wasn?t such a lovely baby when awake, it would make it so much harder!! Do your other DC make her giggle? In fact that goes to everyone with older DC? Toby just seems to smile spontaneously when he hears DD?s voice ? so lovely how much he loves her!! Just hope it lasts!! Don?t worry about the childminder ? it is only for 4-5 hours ? I?m sure they will be fine {fettle says while not even considering leaving her DC with a childminder at all, but it would be for 3-4 days, not hours!} BTW saw the colour of my white bath sling next to the bath today while it was empty and you are right, it?s not very white anymore!!! How?s your sis? Has she done another pg test? I have to say I?d seriously consider exaggerating my bleeding for an early scan, but I?m amazed they won?t scan her to find out what is going on though ? I always was with all my pgs!

Seaside - great to hear from you. Glad little Cass is doing so well and well done you keeping up with the expressing. Not sure what breast pump you've got, but i've got the Avent hand pump and a friend lent my an attachment which you can attach and set a pumping rate and it them pumps away for you, leaving you free to do whatever you want with both hands!! i've not actually used it I have to say, but she managed to get a lot of coursework done, while expressing!! May be worth looking into? I too would tell the BF cousellors to p-off! Unless they are doing it in the right way, it would just be so annoying and intrusive. You've tried it and you're doing the next best thing (not sure I would have carried on as long as you have expressing - although now I'm losing so much weight, it is tempting to try and continue expressing 4-5 times a day as a weight-loss regime after Toby hasn't finished breast-feeding - would that be weird?!) Hope your doggie is ok?

Iamatmotheratlast ? hope you are settling into being a mother!! Hope little Oscar is not causing you too much trouble and is a little angel for you?

Minxi ? so good to hear from you ? wont? be long until you, Rah, Ready and Lottie are over here ? I miss you all. You are more than welcome here anytime ? you know I stalk you all anyway, but feel really bad actually posting on your thread!

Rainbowdays ? I hope you are getting better? Not long now til you are home ? 2 weeks? Sorry it doesn?t look like we are going to arrange a time to get together before you go home. You never know though, if I ever find myself over in your part of the world?.!! Hope the spy world will continue without you while you?re on maternity leave!!!!

Honey ? how is Dex?s sleeping going? Very that you?ve got him taking a bottle of formula at bedtime! Toby is just not interested and DH is just not interested in helping me in the night ? even if he does go, he just says, ?oh he wants you!!?. Of course he wants me, I?m the one with the boobs, but he can?t have them all the time![grr][grr]!!! (Toby that is, although come to think of it DH can?t have them all the time either!!). Hope your new nighttime routine works for you ? I still really miss having Toby around in the evenings, but he?s more awake during the day now he?s settling about 6.30-7pm. Hope you get your holiday sorted ? it is tough finding childfriendly cheapish holidays! We?ve not have a summer holiday since DD was 6 months old! Combination of lack of money and DH?s lack of suitable holiday times. We were going to go somewhere hot and sunny next week for half-term, but then our boiler blew up and we spent the money on that instead ? kind of felt it was a better long-term use for our earnings!!!. Maybe you should find a really massive villa and we could all go on holiday together with our families ? can you imagine that?!!! Tough having to think about moving house as well ? living in my 5th house in 6 years, I don?t envy you that!!

Chooster ? glad to hear that Theo is back to normal ? some strange man-flu in your house!! Or else you?re super-woman avoiding it all!!. Hope everyone is back to normal now! Thanks for sending our love to MrsMc ? we do miss her!! I so hope that she is managing to enjoy Xavier despite the lack of sleep ? he sounds the total opposite to Toby when he was that age! I?ll let you know what I find out in the book, if I ever actually get around to reading it! Never seem to have the time at the moment. One thing I have picked up, is the same old ?don?t let them fall asleep while breast-feeding!?- how are you actually supposed to stop that happening?! Toby falls into such a deep sleep, that I could drop him in bath of cold water and I don?t think he?d wake up! I practically drop him in his cot to try and unsettle him a bit, but he just murmurs and rolls his head from side-to-side and falls straight back to sleep! May have to resort back to using a dummy technique at night, as he won?t take a bottle, I can?t try water or anything like that. Need to get DH to be more supportive though and get up on occasion, but he is so tired due to work, it is hard asking him. Still can?t believe that Toby did sleep through for a couple of weeks before we went away for Christmas (if that doesn?t put you off a holiday, Honey, nothing will!!!).

Cityangel ? congratulations on hearing the heartbeat!!!! Such a lovely sound isn?t it?! And feeling him move as well ? it really will fly by now you know!! Getting quite jealous again for pg people, but I?m pretty sure that we have done our share of children at the moment! Like Bodders, I?d love to be pg and give birth again, but I really don?t want another child, so perhaps surrogacy is the way to go!!. Good to hear that your moles are ok ? my grandmother died of skin cancer, so it is something I?m very aware of. A couple of mine have enlarged/changed while pg, but I was also told that it was nothing to worry about as due to the pg hormones.

Right ? that was a record for me ? only an hour to write, in between going to Toby! - shouldn?t leave it so long between posts again and shouldn?t post while tired after 2 glasses of wine either!

Hope you all have good weekends

hi ladies

just popped online to tell you about the birth of oscar in between his cat naps! i havnt caught up with the thread - you girls are a chatty lot!!

ok so here goes...

on tuesday 5th feb me and dp were sitting down at the table talking about the arrival of oscar and i felt like i had just wet myself, i told dp and he just laughed at me so i stood up to go to the loo and gushed everywhere!!!
our emotions went awol straight after that it was a mixture of excitement and nerves so we went into overdrive making sure the pool was ok, the house was tidy and i started mopping the floor like a woman possessed! after we had calmed down i phoned my nans house to tell them and my nan, grandad and mum came straight over.
dp started filling up the birthing pool and i went upstairs to try and get some rest, i could not sleep at all and ended up coming downstairs a few times over a period of a few hours and dp eventually came up to bed too and he went out like a light - typical!

3:45am the contractions kicked in and were coming every 3-4 minutes lasting 55 seconds so it was time to call the midwives.
5:00am 2 midwives arrived called rachel and andrea and they were lovely, i was examined and was 3-4cm dilated which i thought was pretty good going and i was handling the pain well.
both of the midwives finished their shifts at 8:00am but because i wanted a waterbirth rachel said she would stay on just incase the next midwife that turned up wasnt trained, so andrea left just gone 8 and i decided it was time to get in the pool as the pain was hotting up.
9:00am the second midwife turned up and it was my midwife debbie - i was thrilled! by about 10am the contractions were really intense and i got passed the gas and air, i could not get the timing right and i could not hold the gas and air and support myself in the pool at the same time so i just resorted to crying! dp then burst into tears too so he was comforting me and my nan was comforting him.
at 11:00am i was examined again and had only reached 6cm my cervix had dilated one side but not the other due to oscars position, after hearing this i asked to go to hospital for pain relief as i couldnt take it anymore. so an ambulance was phoned for and off we went. debbie and rachel explained to me that when we got to the hospital i would be handed over to the midwives their and rachel and debbie would go home. at this point i couldnt have cared less where i was i just needed relief!
when we got to the delivery room the anaethetist was sent for and within about an hour the epidural was in and i was strapped to the bed for constant monitoring. the epidural did not work the contractions were as intense as ever and all on the left hand side and in my back. the midwife at the hospital was also called debbie and she said she was happy to hand me back over to my midwives so rachel and my debbie agreed to stay and deliver my baby, i was thrilled! i was examined again and was told i was 10cm - i already knew this as id been telling them i needed to push for ages.
Then another midwife entered the room, no introduction and stuck her hand right up me and examined me and her exact words were "i have to be in theatre in 20 minutes so we had better get the forceps out" dp said to her no way unless it is absolutely neccessary and she tried to fob him off with saying that oscars heart rate was dipping.
she said she would give me 2 contractions to show some good pushing progress otherwise she would have no choice.
Debbie then said i needed an episiotomy and again dp refused this as he knew my wishes for the birth and i didnt want to be cut unless absolutely neccssary so she injected down below to numb me just incase i had to be cut.
after an hour of pushing baby oscar was born at 1:41pm weighing 8 pound 13. he was placed straight onto my chest and screamed his lungs off immediately.
The midwives then started cleaning me up and called in a surgeon as they thought i was haemmoraging, after the surgeon looked internally she said i had a second degree tear down to my bowel so i had another lot of numbing injections and had an hour of my legs in stirrups being sewn together!

oscar was still crying 4 hours after delivery and was only quiet when we got onto the ward. i found it very hard to care for him being so sore and exhausted so the nurse took him away for a couple of hours so i could rest.

the next day we came home and i had my bed on the sofa, oscars crib by my side and then my nan, grandad, mum and dp gathered round me and dp handed me a box - i opened it and there was a message saying "will you marry me? i love you lots" and then dp took my hand and put the ring on my finger so we got engaged!! which was just the icing on the cake.

first couple of nights oscar did not sleep one bit and he had problems feeding, he would latch on but not suck and through lack of sleep and frustration on his behalf and mine i decided to put him on a bottle which he took to straight away.

He is such a good baby really and when he looks into my eyes i just melt, he is awake most of the daybut towards early evening is when he starts sleeping for hours at a time. he wakes up at 11:30pm, 3:00isham and 6:30isham for feeds which isnt so bad. we are coping but sleep deprivation is a killer! so much to be done and no time to do it.

i hope you and your babies are all well, cant wait to get back online and start chatting again properly!

i am going to try and upload some pics now

love to u all x
