@Heath2330 @Wisher88 thank you for responding I thought I had seen that somewhere I will try chase it up with them but my local midwife's are so hard to get in touch with I was trying two weeks for the self referral to get in touch with someone, I'll update on my scan tomorrow it's at 12.30pm just hoping it won't measure weeks behind like last time cause that will worry me!

MummyOfBoys2022 · 07/09/2022 00:25

@Heath2330 I'm so nervous for tomorrow too, I did say after the miscarriage I wouldn't want to go for an early scan, but I'm at the point where I feel like I just want to know if everything is okay, on the baby I miscarried in June I went for a scan at 7w 1d and the sac looked not empty but like something was just forming or something that had stopped forming in there words and measuring around 4w 3d they said, so I worried right up to when I had a kidney scan a few weeks later while I was there I explained my last ultrasound and asked if they could give the baby a quick scan over just to see if it had grew, the baby look around 8/9 weeks but they didn't measure it as it was for my kidneys so wasn't a recorded pregnancy scan, I then went for my 12 weeks scan thinking everything will be fine because I seen it on the last scan and they told me the baby's heart had stopped probably a few days after the scan I went to for my kidneys, but I think if I go tomorrow and the baby isn't measuring too far behind it will reassure me a bit so fingers crossed🤞my husband didn't really want to as he's worried incase we get bad news again

DBS94 · 07/09/2022 06:53

So sorry you went through that @MummyOfBoys2022 good luck today, let us know how you get on! How many weeks are you? X

chasingtherainbow1 · 06/09/2022 22:04

I'm a bridesmaid twice next year, one is May and one is June! What bad timing 🙈

This pregnancy js a big surprise and according to my dates I'm due on my brothers wedding day where I'm supposed to be bridesmaid 🙈 haven't told then yet - hopefully they aren't too irritated 🙈

MummyOfBoys2022 · 07/09/2022 07:25

@DBS94 thank you, I will... I'm 8w 5d x

cheekysausage · 07/09/2022 07:26

Those of you that have suffered miscarriages previously, have you been offered progesterone? When I went to EPU the sonographer explained that women who have suffered a previous miscarriage and who have suffered spotting in this pregnancy are offered progesterone. She said my molar pregnancy is a bit of a strange miscarriage, as obviously there was never an actual foetus to miscarry. So she wasn’t sure whether I’d need it and kinda said “well it’s up to you if you want it” I’m far from a medical expert so kinda wanted to say “you’re the doctor so you tell me if I need it or not” 🤣

Heath2330 · 07/09/2022 08:23

@MummyOfBoys2022 awwwh I understand I'm so sorry you went through all of that I hope all goes well today and keep us updated xx

DBS94 · 07/09/2022 08:35

Ladies just forgot the most horrific thing my midwife told me yesterday - no red meat unless it's completely cooked through so no medium rare steak!! Devastated 😂😂

Marshmallowmountain · 07/09/2022 08:45

@DBS94 i thought everyone knew this one already 😂 it was things like swordfish that shocked me, and hotdogs and mcflurrys!!!

AliceinSlumberland · 07/09/2022 08:51

Hot dogs and mcflurries?! I’ve eaten both of those 😂😂

@RabbitJungle are you sure of when you ovulated? If I went by my LMP I’m nearly a week further than I actually am. I think as well when they’re so small they can grown unevenly and also there’s literally millimetres in it.

DBS94 · 07/09/2022 09:01

@Marshmallowmountain I didn't know about hot dogs and McFlurrys. What's wrong with McFlurrys!?

PuddingBear · 07/09/2022 09:04

McFlurries and all soft ice cream are safe to eat while pregnant, as long as they’re pasteurised, which all of McDonalds dairy products are 😊

Gilm0reGirl · 07/09/2022 09:05

It's because it's a soft serve icecream, the machines don't get cleaned regularly and they found you're more likely to get listeria as a result. So basically any soft serve icecream from a machine is not recommended while you're pregnant like mr whippes etc.

Skylark1990 · 07/09/2022 09:06

@lj2022 and @AliceinSlumberland sorry to hear you're both feeling a bit yucky, I just wanted to say it's a very common feeling. So many changes in our bodies during pregnancy and early pregnancy comes with bloating big time, plus food aversions, nausea etc. It's really just a time of survival imo and so try not to worry about what you're eating! I had the same moan to a friend the other day and she reminded me of this fact 😅 also our blood volume increases by like 50% (or more!) Which can account for the bloating and feeling bigger in general. During first trimester and we are also growing a placenta as well as a baby so it's huge work. And everyone's different so it's hard when we compare but just know your bodies are doing an amazing thing. Agree with @Wouldloveanother get some nice maternity stuff and embrace it. I wore jeans on Saturday and regretted it, had to change half way through the day haha. Leggings, loose shirts and dresses all the way ATM! And non underwire bras.

I personally found breastfeeding a great way to shed the baby weight once baby was here 💓 it uses up loads of the stored fat to make the milk 🥛

Guys chill me out, just taken a side on pic and compared to a side on pic compared to a couple of weeks ago and my belly is defo flabbier, surely that’s not normal this early on? I’m 8 weeks and defo been eating more than usual but that’s because I used to skip meals and things all the time because of work 😂

PuddingBear · 07/09/2022 09:08

Gilm0reGirl · 07/09/2022 09:05

McDonalds ice cream machines are heat treated automatically every night and are deep cleaned every week (they literally stop working and don’t work until they’ve been cleaned, the machine locks itself).

So McFlurry’s in particular are still safe 😊

AliceinSlumberland · 07/09/2022 09:08

Perfect timing with your post there @Skylark1990 , hopefully it’s bloating!

Skylark1990 · 07/09/2022 09:15

@AliceinSlumberland it'll almost certainly be bloating! And maybe your womb is stretching out already even though baby is tiny 🥰 I was feeling gross too, but now that I'm spewing loads I no longer feel so bloated etc but I've got other issues (worse ones really) haha so there's no winning in early pregnancy.

Congrats to those with recent scans!!

@RabbitJungle there have been a couple of ladies on here who had private scans that ended up being wayyy wrong. So I wouldn't necessarily trust what the sonographer said, they're tiny at this stage and due to positioning it can affect what is seen I believe. But in saying that I guess due to implantation timing you could be a bit behind what you thought! If you are anxious you could call the epu? I think this is what @chillichillioil did? X

Lunabun · 07/09/2022 10:37

I totally fell off this thread... hope everyone is doing well. I've been quite consistently nauseous, but not sick very often and it is only mild nausea so I won't complain too much.

@AliceinSlumberland I am the same right now! I've assumed it's bloating/water retention/whatever. I know you're supposed to show earlier with your second, but I'm positive I can't be showing this early 🤣

iloveburmese3 · 07/09/2022 10:40

Yes I've had 2 miscarriages and I am now taking progesterone definitely ask for it x

Wisher88 · 07/09/2022 11:48

I've lost my mind waiting for my early scan and have booked a new scan this eve. Have one booked with a different company for Saturday (I'll push it back to 16 wks as won't get deposit back).
New scan is a two-hour round trip because nowhere near me has appointments this eve and I've got myself in such a tiz needing to know 🤣. I just don't want to be bobbing along thinking it's fine when it's not.
Plus I think I'd never sleep Friday night but waking up and just booking it means I had a goodnight sleep.
Seven weeks today since last period but I think I ovulated around day 16, so I might be slightly under 7 wks, still likely to get a definitive answer.
Now just to keep busy until this evening! Fingers crossed - I don't know how I'd survive another MC, the first one completely broke me, I really don't know how women find the strength to keep going ❤️

Margo34 · 07/09/2022 11:52

@Wisher88 because women are stronger than we sometimes realise ourselves ☺️ good luck for your scan later 🤞

bluebubbles12 · 07/09/2022 11:53

Just been for my booking appointment at 10+2 and it all feels very real now 🥰

One thing the midwife mentioned to me which I thought may be of interest to those of you considering NIPT tests, is that if your screening blood tests (Downs etc) come back as high risk then the NHS will pay for the NIPT test, which I know they didn't used to do, it would go straight to the intrusive tests, so that's good news.

I'm going to be classed as a high risk pregnancy because my daughter's weight was under the third centile when she was born (I didn't know this!) so I've got to take aspirin from now and there will be lots of growth scans once I reach 32 weeks. Just got to wait for the scan date to be sent through the post now, eek!

Longbin · 07/09/2022 12:16

@cheekysausage I had a previous miscarriage whilst on progesterone and I haven't been offered it this time around

ancienthouse · 07/09/2022 12:24

@bluebubbles12 I'm also classed as a high risk pregnancy because of a previous gigantic baby and an emergency c section.
I think I might have a fight on my hands to aim for a VBAC in the birth centre but I'm going to try.
