I am 31 weeks pregnant with DS2, due end of October. While the pregnancy has no complications (I'm lucky, I know), I had a rough first trimester and now the third trimester has gifted me with sciatica.

All I want to do is lay on the sofa and sleep. I can't though, because DS1 is 27 months and really pushing boundaries. I've got him watching way too much TV, but it's the only way to get through the past couple of weeks.

I hate being pregnant. I want to skip ahead to when DS2 is finally here, when I won't be quite so enormous, when hopefully the sciatica will subside, and when I will be able to properly parent DS1 again (and have cuddles with DS2).

Anyone with me?

I hate pregnancy too. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and have hyperemesis so I'm still throwing up. I also have terrible reflux, I'm anemic and have already had one transfusion, and have bronchitis for the second time during pregnancy.

I also have two nearly three year olds!

No such thing as too much TV at this stage.

I also think dealing with a newborn is far better than being pregnant. Pregnancy is the absolute worst. At least third trimester you can start counting down the days.

Pinktruffle · 25/08/2022 10:44

I'm in almost exactly the same situation! DS1 is 21 months and DS2 is due mid October. I am done with being pregnant but quite scared about how I'm going to cope with two!

DS1 is currently between nurseries but starts back next week, he does 3 days a week. I hope to keep that up for as long as possible once no.2 is here. DS1 loves nursery and he won't be sat in front of the TV all day and I get some quality time with no.2.

I feel like I'm the size of a cow now, I'm constantly uncomfortable and exhausted. I'm done with being out of breath, and being really hot all the time and not being able to bend over properly or just generally be as mobile as I want. No sciatica here but I have PGP which I'm hoping will go swiftly after the baby arrives.

I would really have loved to have had a daughter, DH keeps talking about having another but I am so done with pregnancy! I really don't think my body could hack a third!

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 10:45

@MarianneVos Oh wow, your situation sounds way worse. I can't imagine still throwing up regularly now. Plus a transfusion and bronchitis?! You are amazing for getting through this.

64 days left. Sigh.

Im only 16 weeks and hate it!! Taken into hospital with high blood pressure, catching every virus going, constipated, no energy, lost the majority of my friends, boobs still wreck, getting cold sores... and i know it only gets worse LOL. I'll be thankful when she make and appearance into the world and im sure it will all be worth it :)

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 10:48

@Pinktruffle I would love to have a daughter as well. As a dance teacher, I really wanted a ballerina, even though I know Mumsnet will slaughter me for wanting a specific gender. But it's not in the cards as there's no way I'm having another one! I am a boy mom!

@maggiebun Yes to the boobs! Mine were a 34F to start, and now they're so heavy they're bruising my bump! No bras fit!

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 25/08/2022 10:55

@maggiebun ahh yeah the loss of friends sucks, lots of mine quietly disappeared never to show again after DS1 was born. I like to think the ones that are left are the ones who truly care so I haven't lost out.

@MooseBreath yep, seems I am also destined to be a boy mum all the way! I'll just have to get used to the pee on the toilet seats and all that jazz. I'll do my best to raise little feminists so if I can't have a girl, at least they will be good allies for girls.

Really? Not even bravissimo? 😳

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 11:05

@grey12 I'm sure I could find some at Bravissimo (it's where my usual ones are from), but I'm not willing to spend hundreds of pounds when I keep growing and won't be this size for long.

True 😅 as long as you're comfortable with not wearing bras.

Otherwise you can get like "strong fabric" tops, you know like the sports bras for women with small breasts. If you need some support

i feel for you I remember being so fed up towards the end with DD!

I’m 7+1 with DC2 and having the worst sickness… getting up at 4/5am to be sick plus randomly throughout the day, usually just stomach acid 🤢 Everything smells bad, I’m exhausted, got constipation and just feel generally ill. Bring on the second trimester.

hangingbag · 25/08/2022 11:18

22 weeks here and it's all going so slowly. I also have PGP like a pp so the shortest walk makes me feel like I've been kicked in the hoohah, I'm not sleeping whatsoever and I am just feeling massively grumpy all the time. Luckily my kids are a bit older (8 and 10) so not a huge strain but they have had way too much x box time than is usually allowed to allow me to sleep when I can, and work is so demanding at the moment I feel like it's sapping all my energy. Bring on mat leave - I know the challenges will different but I'm certain it'll feel like a rest!

Golfwithfriends · 25/08/2022 11:41

Almost 17 weeks here. I had one week with no sickness, thinking I had finally come through the other side after an awful first trimester and a bit more. But yesterday and today the nausea and no appetite is back and now want to cry.
I've hated every second of being pregnant and I've barely got a bump yet, so reading the previous posts is not filling me with any confidence that it will get better. How some of you have done this more than once is incredible.

greenerfingers · 25/08/2022 14:51

26 weeks and decided to take 2 year old on holiday... alone!! 😫😫. Sciatica is really flaring up and soo tired of running after him. Also am huge this time so everything tires me out. Can't wait for this to be over. 14 weeks just seems so so far away.

greenerfingers · 25/08/2022 14:52

Oh and not forgetting the excruciating rib pain!!

Thetractorjustmoved · 25/08/2022 17:10

Blurgh 14 weeks here and have been sick several times a day for the past 8 weeks. I feel like my body is about to give in, I've got some sort of virus and a temperature, and I'm clinging on by my fingertips! My 3 year old has barely seen me recently 😭

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 17:55

So tired of people telling me the "loved being pregnant". What?! I do not have that healthy glow. My body just does not cope well with this!

Someone told me on a zoom call recently that I had a glow, but it was slap bang in the middle of the heatwave and wasn't a glow, it was sweat

I'm very sorry for your losses. It must be so hard, and I can't imagine what you've been through. But please understand that we are allowed to be uncomfortable and have a moan without feeling guilty.

After 5 losses and no living kids. Same here!!!!!

This is why women can't speak freely about all manner of difficulties in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, this fear of looking ungrateful, and it doesn't take away the real difficulties that many face during pregnancy. It's a shame that we can't even do it on an anonymous internet forum.

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 20:16

Yes, that's why I started a thread specifically for talking about the hard parts of pregnancy and titled the post accordingly. Instead, it is making women experiencing hyperemesis, anemia, sciatica, and PGP look insensitive and ungrateful.

My pregnancies are like Bella in Twilight’s, the babies leech all of my reserves leaving me a washed out, pale, vomiting wreck.

Has anyone else asked their GP to sign them off?

MooseBreath · 25/08/2022 21:07

@Wouldloveanother SAHM here. If my GP could sign me off from my toddler for a week, it would be greatly appreciated! I did get signed off for 10 days of my last pregnancy though due to hyperemesis.
