Hi everyone - I took a bit of a break from the internet and 'googling' over the last couple days so sorry for the delay but thank you so much @doingitalllagain and @STom2 for your next messages. I really appreciate the time you took to help to reassure me etc, thank you.

I'm feeling a bit calmer since Tuesday, decided to seek out some counselling and DH said if I'm still anxious after I've spoken to someone we could consider NIPT then which is fair - especially as the risk I was given really is very low. I'm feeling more balanced about it now and rather than focussing on the 0.05% risk (which is manufactured/not 100% correct anyway) I am more believing the 99.95% chance it's all fine 😅I still get the niggles but do think the anxiety has faded away to the background more for now.

Gosh, it's so anxious this time - I don't want to do pregnancy again after this!

@doingitalllagain sorry to hear your son is unwell! I hope he's starting to feel better! Don't worry about the cosleeping, I'm sure he will get back to his usual sleep habits when he's feeling better. These things always have ups and downs! Our DD has always coslept with us on and off, and we had a great spell for a few months this year when we transferred her to a floor bed in her room but then had to go back to cosleeping all night for a few weeks while I stopped BF for various reasons (think she needed the closeness and comfort to replace what the BF did at bedtime, also she associated her room with the bedtime feed). But now she's back in her room again! Albeit DH is sleeping in there with her atm to get her used to it again, so I get the super king to myself 😂can't complain. x

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would pop on to say hi and check in. I haven't been able to catch up on posts. My lovely husband has passed this awful cold that has been going around lately so feeling a bit fuzzy.

How is everyone feeling at the moment? I've been trying to compile a list of things we need for when baby is here so if anyone has any wisdom on what to buy and what to avoid that would be brilliant!

I had a trip to our day assessment unit earlier this week as I hadn't felt baby move for about a 1.5 days. I normally feel her 2x a day at the moment so they got me in for a quick check - she was fine but they weren't happy with my heart rate so ended up hooked up to an ECG to monitor my heart. I have sinus tachycardia (fast heart rate) - they didn't seem bothered unless I get scary symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, etc. Hopefully, it remains nothing to worry about and sorts itself out!

Rubes1234 · 21/10/2022 20:51

Hi everyone!!

@RedElleJ ah sorry to hear your not feeling the best. As for the movements I’ve been the same this week. Everything felt so much stronger last week but I’m pretty sure the little madam has moved and is kicking into my placenta(anterior)
Out of curiosity how far are you along (I can’t keep up with due dates sorry lol) I don’t think my unit checks until after 24 weeks?! It’s so stressful isn’t it!!

@Skylark1990 You are bound to be more stressed than you would be but it sounds like your taking all the steps to keep yourself right.
If it helps at all. I am an amniocentesis baby. Mum had it with me as she was 37 and had three children before me. Also very high chances of it happening. Everything went to plan and I was born overdue by exactly 4 weeks (mum still believes dates were wrong as I was perfectly cooked and not dry at all) The tests came back as everything was fine and all in normal range about three weeks later but mum says this was the worst stress of all her pregnancies Waiting. Mum does say now though she doesn’t know why she had it as she wouldn’t of changed her decision in having me but it was easy to make this decision as I was ok. All she could think about was the “burden” on my sisters in me being born and her being an older mother if I was to have Down syndrome. However now like I say she says she wouldn’t of changed her mind and feels foolish for ever putting me at risk.

I think what I’m trying to say is it’s a decision you would need to be really sure of in weighing up the pros and cons of knowing, waiting for results and risks. If you and your DH feel like everything would be fine if this was to happen, I would steer clear. Also keep in mind that the drs do have to tell you the worst possible scenario that can happen if you were to go for the amniocentesis.

Im back to work Monday since my hospital jaunt. Now managing to do daily life completely pain killer free. The pressure in the pelvis this last few days though ooof! I have my next scan the 26th for the fibroid so super stressed to find out how big it is and hoping little lady is still growing on the correct scale 😓

Is anyone else also a complete mess until they eat in the morning?!?! I woke up yesterday and sobbed until I had my toast then everything was right in the world. 😂😂😂 The joys!

RedElleJ · 22/10/2022 09:16

Hey @Rubes1234 - I'm 22 weeks, was just shy of this when I went in. Normally, you are meant to be seen by the community midwife this early but they are so busy that they just send you up to the hospital. They are all really nice though, they said if anything is different, less or no movements, always go in to have it checked. It is almost always the case baby has moved but it is always better to check :) So, I didn't feel like an idiot going in.

Anterior placenta i'm learning is a bit of a nightmare as they move as you grow so, that can change the way you feel things too. I've been so surprised at how much movement I have felt with an anterior placenta but I am starting to tune it to when I know she is behind my placenta. I don't know how to describe it but it is like the faintest awareness that she is moving but I can't really feel it - then within a few minutes i'll get a kick to the cervix or something haha!

Glad to hear you are off the pain killers! Hope you are easing yourself back into work too. Fingers crossed about the fibroid - my friend has one and apart from giving her a fair bit of pain the baby is all good and measuring 2 weeks ahead!

Emotionally I am okay at the moment but I go from 0 to hangry devil woman in no time when I have breakfast late. Any other meal is fine but breakfast is an absolute must!

WonderWoop · 24/10/2022 21:54

Just catching up on everyone's updates. So pleased everyone doing well.

I am 23 weeks today and I'm not sure I've ever felt so tired. Between potty training stress with my almost 3 year old (ongoing but getting there!) and work I'm wondering how on earth I can survive 16 more weeks! I feel the size of a house as well

On the plus side i can feel every movement this little boy makes and it's constant! Kept me awake most of last night jiggling about (probably why I'm so tired ha!)

So ladies after the 20w scan what next? I just can't remember from last time and think you have fewer appts second time? I have consultant appt this week (not entirely sure why) and then nothing else booked. Does anyone else have a bit of a schedule? And what about gestational diabetes test, is that around now?

Skylark1990 · 25/10/2022 10:12

@Rubes1234 thanks so much for your message. That's so interesting that you flagged up as high risk and your mum did amnio - I'm glad everything worked out!! I wonder how they tested back then? I think the combined screening test has only been around since the 90s (but maybe you are a 90s baby haha I'm assuming you're around my age - 34 - but perhaps not! I am feeling a lot calmer now. The combined test came back very low risk afterall, and I spoke to the sonographer and clinician both about my scan and the bloods and was reassured everything looked normal and healthy, and I think I've just realised that I don't need to worry - that the results I got given should put my mind at ease. So definitely feeling better. I wouldn't go for amnio with a 1 in 2000 risk - I was considering the NIPT which is non-invasive and not at all risky to baby, but even NIPT isn't 100% and has potential for false positives which would then go down the amnio route and really, if it's not broke don't fix it eh 😅I don't want to risk more stress when my results were actually good. I think pregnancy just brings out anxiety a lot more and I'm anxious anyway! xx

Gamergirl84 · 25/10/2022 18:27

Hi all, how is everyone?
My SPD has been getting worse and worse over the last few weeks so have started wearing my support belt. I took DS to a butterfly farm today and he just kept running away and I had to keep chasing him and now I feel like I've broken my pelvis! I'm literally good for nothing but sitting on the sofa with my feet up.

@WonderWoop I have a midwife appointment at 25 weeks and then another scan and consultant at 32 weeks. I also feel huge. No idea how I'm going to last another 3 months!

STom2 · 25/10/2022 18:56

I don't feel particularly huge yet but equally keep underestimating the bump/changes to my body. Took DS to the city last week and brought the pram. Went out of my way to find step free access but there was one area with 3 steps that I'd to drag the pram up (with DS sat in it). No problem I thought! Low and behold my lower back was done in for the entire weekend.

I have an appointment Fri for 24 weeks and not too sure after that. I keep getting appointment letters for different things. Have the GT in a couple of weeks so that will be a fun Saturday morning...

DS also having a bit of a sleep regression last few nights (inexplicably). Hoping it doesn't last and that it's not a sign of thing to come.

Rubes1234 · 25/10/2022 19:34

@WonderWoop I have the gestational diabetes test on the 11th I think it comes up around 26-28 weeks but I could be wrong lol. I have consultant appointment as well tomorow and then again on 23/11but I have no idea if I’ll be seeing the midwives at these appointments either. I haven’t seen them since 12 week appointment 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Skylark1990 ah that’s really reassuring news for you! I think your doing the right thing tbh. My mum does still struggle with the fact something could of happened to me. I am just a 90’s baby clinging on to it with my teeth haha Jan 1991! 😂

@Gamergirl84 oh no!! Are you feeling any relief from your support belt?

Im in my normal stress before an appointment thing before tomorrow. Work really was a struggle today to focus and not google anything! I think we will always find something to worry about won’t we 😂

I started my Christmas shopping last night. So stressed with it. I’m one of those people who are normally done, dusted and wrapped up by now. So this is my week to get most done and posted to England lol!

x

Lmcc88 · 29/10/2022 10:37

Hey guys!

how is everyone?

@Rubes1234 I have an anterior placenta too, as you say its surprising how much you can still feel and hard not to worry when it’s faint movements but then all of a sudden a very strong kick to the side catches you off guard!

@MH202 I said I would let you know about hearing heartbeat with also being in Scotland , I heard my baby’s at my 23 week scan for first time.

does anyone have any support belt recommendations? I’m starting to feel a little sore standing up from siting on couch etc I had a look on Amazon but they all look similar but vary significantly in price and not sure what I’m looking for really …

madeinthe80z · 30/10/2022 14:33

@Lmc88 I have this one, it's good, I definitely noticed a difference. Takes a while to figure out how to get it on mind!

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07V7VK4ZF?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

When I asked the midwife, she just said that they recommend any off amazon!

MooBugz · 30/10/2022 19:14

Hi all hope you are well, it's got a little quieter in here hopefully everyone is feeling a little more stress free as the pregnancy weeks have come on 😊

@Lmcc88 I can't comment on the belt but interested as I've heard good things both during and after pregnancy about them.

I had a crap time mentally last few weeks when my mil told us she'd booked to go away on holiday and isn't back till a week after my due date. No real reason either it was just selfish. I've got a rocky history with my in laws and after finally being around for my last pregnancy I didn't expect it and I could have done with her help tbh and she knew this but hey I know where I stand so have been distancing myself for the last couple weeks from them all as I could feel myself falling down an unstable hole (suffered pnd after my second son due to a hellish time with my in laws and we were on brink of divorce as a result at the time) so have had some deja VI feelings lately.

But feeling so much better this week the kids have kept me occupied with pumpkins and events! Love them 🥰

Sending love to all xx

@MooBugz I'm sorry you've had a few rough weeks. Please don't think it will be the same second time round- every pregnancy is different as is every post partum recovery.

My mother and father decided to visit my brother in Australia from November to two weeks veflre my due date. I'm furious, rightly or wrong ly, because I rely on my mother for childcare and would have been heavily reliant in the last few weeks. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope! I already feel the size of a house and can't pick anything up from the floor.

@madeinthe80z and @Lmcc88 I also have thus belt! It really does help with the pelvic pain.

RedElleJ · 01/11/2022 16:48

Hi Ladies,

How are we all doing?

I have my first antenatal classes this week. A breastfeeding one tonight (thanks for the recommend @Skylark1990) and yoga tomorrow.

I also have a midwife appointment tomorrow but I don't know what this one is for. I am going to ask her about baby's movements though. Last week, I was feeling some proper kicks...could see my tummy move and my hubby could feel them. However, they seem a bit fainter now. She is moving fairly regularly so it isn't decreased movement just decreased intensity I suppose. Anyone experienced this before? I am only 23 weeks and with my anterior placenta I feel that baby has maybe moved so the kicks/punches feel a bit softer.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing okay and starting to feel better as the weeks progress. I still have my days but movements are definitely reassuring! x

STom2 · 01/11/2022 18:22

@RedElleJ I absolutely get this variation in movement intensity (25 weeks on Thursday) and its totally normal. I casually mentioned it to my midwife last week at my routine 24 week appointment, when she asked was I still feeling regular movements. I said yes but location of kicks and intensity of kicks varies. She said absolutely normal at this stage as they actually still have a bit of wiggle room in there and move around quite a bit.

Lmcc88 · 01/11/2022 21:18

Thanks for the recs on the support belt @Gamergirl84 and @madeinthe80z got that one and it definitely made me feel better!

@RedElleJ im exactly the same with anterior placenta some days really strong intense kicks and other days faint movements that I’m putting down to baby having moved right behind my placenta! I know what you mean still have your moments but the kicks are definitely reassuring!

Did an online antenatal class tonight and found it really helpful! Start going to face to face ones in a few weeks so hoping to make some local “mum friends”

ChangeHtotheP · 02/11/2022 11:13

Hello. I’ve posted in here a few times but am so rubbish at consistently commenting but do lurk regularly. My excuse for being rubbish is HG as I have so much to cram into the few hours a day I feel ok. I just wanted to check in and ask about the antenatal classes. I registered with my trusts classes but they don’t put people onto them until 8 weeks before the due date, which is leaving me feeling very unprepared. Are there any you’d recommend?

I’m also celebrating a little milestone today. We’ve reached 24 weeks, at times I never thought I’d get to this point. So nice to see everyone progressing. We’ve all gone from worrying to preparing for little beans to be here. 😄

Hagster · 02/11/2022 19:33

Hi @ChangeHtotheP huge congratulations on the 24 week milestone. It feels so significant doesn't it.

I've been more of a lurker recently, a mix of being busy but also genuinely feeling less anxious. Anxiety back now though, have had a terrible virus the last few days and I'm coughing so hard I am weeing. Except I ended up down a Google rabbit hole of panic thinking it could be amniotic fluid 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. I'm trying to remain calm and am reassured by baby still kicking away.

In better news, I moved hospitals as mine was one of the many that have recently been on the news for bad maternity and I just didn't trust them any more. The new one is amazing, really like my new Consultant and they've booked me in for a load of reassurance scans in the third trimester. I'm so glad I moved!

Shall we start a list of everyone's due dates and what they're having, to keep track? No pressure for people to be involved until they're ready, if at all.

Me: Due 14/02/23 Girl

Hope everyone is ok, what's going on for you all? x

Lmcc88 · 02/11/2022 19:42

@ChangeHtotheP congrats on your milestone!

I done a free online 2 hour class last night by the baby academy which was taken by a midwife with 15 years experience and covered bath time, cord care, changing, and lots more I found it really helpful and seen they have a few more free ones like a mental health one along with a few that you pay for but after our free one last night we were just offered £50 off the ultimate class so if you’re thinking about paying for one I’d go to a free one first. They also have a pretty good Instagram with videos etc.

Our local authority are not offering any antenatal classes since covid so I signed up for a paid face to face 6 course class offered by The Daisy Foundation. This came recommended by a friend and I found it to be pretty reasonable compared to others I’ve seen and these seem to be offered up and down the UK.

hope this helps

MooBugz · 02/11/2022 19:52

@Gamergirl84 oh no that's a shame and I would be just as furious! It's more about feeling supported than anything else I find personally is what set me off.

@Hagster I've been a bit of a lurker to lately just have so much going on and then I freak out when I realise we're in November already!

Great idea on the due dates list we can copy and paste the lists 😊

Hi all! Nice to see a little flurry of updates, the time is flying by isn't it? I saw a thread in active today about babies due July 2023 which made me excited as it means we're getting ever closer 😂 every time a new month one appears I get excited Blush

Rough few days here, we all caught norovirus, my husband and son were ok but I was so bad I ended up being admitted to hospital and spent two days on the ward on drip after drip and anti-emetics. I could hear little newborn babies and I was so jealous I was there ill and not because it was my turn. I'm finally home just had a nice bath and now in bed watching love is blind Grin

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. @RedElleJ hope the breastfeeding course went well, is it the LLL one? You're most welcome for the recommendation. Congrats on your milestone @ChangeHtotheP ! Glad your new hospital is good @Hagster , my local also used to have bad reviews but that was over 10 years ago and they've since won some awards for improvements haha. They were fine when I had DD so not too worried but I do wish we had a birth centre close by... the one that is closest is 35/40 min away.

@RedElleJ with my anterior placenta last time I had this too. I didn't worry as long as the movements were still regular.

Sorry to hear of people getting sick - norovirus and colds/flus seem to be rampant atm! DD was struck down with a chesty cough and temp all last week and my DH caught it but I seemed to escape it some how... Hoping I can escape flu exposure until I get my vaccine in a couple of weeks!

I've been very busy with work so haven't been on MN as much either. I am feeling baby faintly a few times a day now which is nice (18 weeks tomorrow). Have the 20 week scan in just over 2 weeks so quite nervous but hoping all goes well and will be lovely to see baby again!

On support belts - another option is the serola belt, it's more of a medical grade one in the sense it is recommended by physiotherapists for PGP or lower back/hip pain, it doesn't go around bump but supports the hips and sacrum area.

I am ofc due in April as I returned after my previous MC, but still keen to be on the list if that's OK!

Thanks for the reassurance on the anterior placenta ladies :) She seems to have moved positions too so, I am getting kicks or punches near my ribs now.

Sorry to hear how poorly you were @doingitalllagain - I hope you take all the time you need to rest up as best you can. I have been getting worried about COVID so booked a booster for this weekend. Anyone had a vaccine during their pregnancy yet?

Congrats on the milestone @ChangeHtotheP :) I just hit 24 weeks today too!

@Skylark1990 - Yeah it was LLL. I have the book too but need to dip back into it now really. Must be great to feel little one wriggling now :) x

I had a bit of a bad experience at my midwife appointment this week - I found her quite abrupt and wholly uninterested in anything I had to say. I didn't walk out feeling reassured at all and I had a little cry in the afternoon as I was just so upset at how I felt it went. I had a different midwife at 16 weeks as mine was on holiday but I really wish I could have the other one back now because she was so so lovely. I feel a bit better now - just know that I need to be prepared for an icier experience at my next appointments.

@RedElleJ I'm sorry you had a bad midwife experience! You can definitely ask to change, just call up the lead midwife in your area/trust and request to have the one you had last time.
