So happy for everyone that's met their lovely babies already, I'm having a section next Friday (16th)

yesterday I had a daycare which I've been having weekly for the last 6/7 weeks and I was told my blood pressure is putting me at high risk of having a stroke. They've given me medication for it that's making me feel awful and really shaky and weak, have to go back to hospital tommorow to see how it's going, drama!

MummyToBe2022 · 06/09/2022 16:22

@GlitteryGreen my due date is Saturday and I'm booked in for a sweep then.

I just want baby out too. Been an emotional wreck today, was never like this with my previous 2.

I just can't wait to smell the new baby smell and have lots of cuddles, oh and to be able to bend down again would be nice 😂

GlitteryGreen · 06/09/2022 16:37

@MummyToBe2022 Omg yes, I said this same thing about bending down to DP 🙈 It will be so nice when moving around normally isn't quite such an effort.

Even just going for a light walk, my back is aching and my hips are so stiff afterwards 🙄

Ive seen a few of you girls mentioning you have sweeps booked in for your due dates. I’m due on Monday (12th) and no one has mentioned anything about a sweep to me. I have a scan tomorrow morning which is to double check that the baby is still head down and is gaining weight and I’ve been signed off as midwife care. My midwife booked me in for an appointment with her on Friday and il be 39+5. Will I get offered a sweep then or will I have to wait until my appointment with her the following week at 40+5?

Sabiina · 06/09/2022 22:16

@awwbiscuits congratulations 🥰

awwbiscuits · 06/09/2022 22:33

annlee3817 · 07/09/2022 00:53

@awwbiscuits congratulations!!! Lovely news

@Northernerinwales you can ask for one, some routinely offer them and others wait to be asked

Sweetbabydust1989 · 07/09/2022 00:56

More babies being born it's so amazing to hear congratulations to all of the September babies we may have left our pregnancy journey but we're now onto the next part of the journey.. I think I have baby blues I cried because I couldn't open the jam jar this morning oh these poxy hormones need to go now 😩 xx

gratefulmamatobe · 07/09/2022 05:52

Hey everyone!

New to the thread 👋🏼 I am 39+5 weeks pregnant. Went for scan yesterday and baby is weighing around 8lbs?! Is that big? Or normal?

I hoping she appears soooooon 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sending love to all of you. Home straight now!!!!

annlee3817 · 07/09/2022 08:30

Welcome @gratefulmamatobe

There is generally a 20% margain for error either way. I was told DD would be 9lbs at 39 weeks, she was born at 39+5 weighing 7lbs 9oz. Don't think 8lbs is all that big for almost full term :)

Northernerinwales · 07/09/2022 12:53

Hi everyone, so I’ve just been for my last scan and they have booked me in for induction on Saturday as her weight has tailed off. My partner is so excited… me on the other hand is not so excited. I’m honestly stressed about the whole thing. The hospital I’m being induced at is 15 miles away from our home and neither of us drive, we still have covid rules in hospitals so after 10pm no one is allowed in the wards unless your in your own private room on the labour ward. Ngl I just want to cry

awwbiscuits · 07/09/2022 13:30

Can you ask to wait? @Northernerinwales

GlitteryGreen · 07/09/2022 13:31

@Northernerinwales Aw sorry to hear it's so stressful. Do the covid rules mean your partner has to leave at 10 even if you're in active labour? That doesn't seem right?

Northernerinwales · 07/09/2022 13:39

@awwbiscuits they think my placenta is failing hence the slowing down of weight and they’re worried if they wait it will fail completely

Northernerinwales · 07/09/2022 13:41

@GlitteryGreen no that’s the only time he can stay with me the whole time so any time I’m on the maternity ward for the induction process he is only allowed there until 10pm then overnight il be on my own and then he can come back on the ward again in the morning. During active labour he is allowed to stay the whole time but if I get put back on a ward again after the birth it goes right back to visiting hours again

Sweetbabydust1989 · 07/09/2022 13:57

@Northernerinwales I had placenta insufficiency with my first child he had to come early he was 4lb 7oz at 38 weeks but he is now a healthy 11 year old only issues I had was he had to be out on prescription milk to help him gain weight.. with regards to the no one in allowed past 10 pm I would definitely ask about this as you should still be allowed your partner with you while giving birth.. my partner was allowed to stay with all the time even when moving to the maternity ward back when I had my boys that wasn't allowed so was a shock he could still stay xx

GlitteryGreen · 07/09/2022 15:19

@GlitteryGreen Ah ok, tbh I don't think it's that unusual then. My DP will be allowed with my throughout active labour but once baby is here he will be on the standard visiting hours which are 8am-9pm (I think).

It's a shame he can't stay through the whole induction if it happens to go after 10pm but hopefully it will go quick and he won't end up needing to leave at all until the baby is here :)

annlee3817 · 08/09/2022 00:31

@Northernerinwales it was the same with me, DH stayed until 10pm and then came back in the morning, as soon as I started having contractions I asked if I could have him with me and they said yes, but that he needed to be mindful of the other women in my bay. You may also be able to go home within hours of giving birth

Northernerinwales · 08/09/2022 07:51

@annlee3817 yeah I’m hoping that’s the case. My sister in law gave birth in the same hospital I’m going too and she was induced and because of the covid rules (the same ones that are currently in place) her birth partner missed the whole birth because they were sent away and didn’t have enough time to get to the hospital when she was in active labour. She ended up going through her whole labour alone x

annlee3817 · 08/09/2022 08:22

@Northernerinwales will keep my fingers crossed for you, the induction ward at mine was like it pre covid, always had the go home at ten rule, do you live far from the hospital?
