@Sandcastles24 is this your first baby? Got my booking appointment tomorrow but its my first so hoping I won't feel it as pointless!

Babynum2 · 04/08/2022 20:48

@Sandcastles24 i think it just depends on hosp i had mine face to face and she said she will be my midwife whole way through so im happy with that.

@Hopingforarainbow27 i have a little sticky out bit to and my clothes dont fit around my belly now also approaching 10 weeks. I think because its my third you do show a bit earlier!

Sandcastles24 · 04/08/2022 21:09

@JB2021 it my second pregnancy. My first was when they had covid measures. They are back to normal now so I was expecting it to be different.
The questions did seem longer than I remember but not very useful. They asked at least 20 different ways if there is domestic violence at home. They asked if I am alone to check that you aren't being influenced etc. I can't help but wonder if someone was in that situation how would they be able to send their partner away to answer honestly. Surely it would be more effective to have face to face

JB2021 · 04/08/2022 21:10

@Sandcastles24 mines face to face and my husband is coming with me!!!

Sandcastles24 · 04/08/2022 21:14

Haha, I don't know how they will work those questions then 🤣
Maybe they will send him out for a bit. That wouldn't be suspicious at all if someone had issues 🤷‍♀️

Rainbowbaby23 · 04/08/2022 22:16

After only getting my covid vaccine 2 weeks ago ive just tested positive🙈 don’t have a temp but im freezing with bad headache and body aches:(

rach971 · 05/08/2022 07:07

@Hopingforarainbow27 My pants are definitely tighter! I'm 7 weeks. I think a lot of it is bloat though, but my tummy does seem to stick out a little more lower down.

@JB2021 It says on my letter that you'll be seen alone for the first 15 mins, so I'd imagine they won't let your husband into the room until the DV questions are out of the way.

JB2021 · 05/08/2022 07:19

@rach971 not had a letter! Only a text confirmation of appointment

Franklin321 · 05/08/2022 07:46

They should see you at some point in your pregnancy alone where they can ask you about DV…they probably won’t make a thing of it if your partner is there as if there was DV it would increase your risk. You have so many appointments throughout so it’s unlikely your partner will be at every one and so they can ask then!

In my hospital they have a way of alerting midwives when you go do a urine sample as sometimes that’s the only place women are able to be alone from an abusive partner!

rach971 · 05/08/2022 07:55

@JB2021 It seems so varied by each different area. I got an appointment letter and a booklet explaining everything briefly, with a space at the back to write any questions.

JB2021 · 05/08/2022 07:58

@Franklin321 my husband is planning on being at every appointment!

@rach971 yea, it's felt very lack of information and even had to chase the appointment. Not great when it's my first. Just want a scan date in. I've got a list of questions written.

I'm really nervous about today.

rach971 · 05/08/2022 08:00

@JB2021 Awww which part are you nervous about? It's my second and from what I remember and what I've heard, it's a pretty boring experience for the most part 🙈 Just a lot of health related questions etc and they do your height, weight

Franklin321 · 05/08/2022 08:02

@JB2021 oh right, well your midwife may request you go alone to one appointment then or ring you another time to check in and make sure there’s no worries between you.

JB2021 · 05/08/2022 08:03

@Franklin321 oh, totally get they need to ask the questions!

@rach971 not sure, guess its new and unknown

LittleAcorn20 · 05/08/2022 08:31

In my first pregnancy they asked me the DV questions in hospital at the scan appt.
Husband was there but the weighing scales and height measurement was out in the corridor so I was taken out of the room for a moment to do those measurements alone with the midwife. Above the weighing scales was a very small piece of text on a sign which the midwife pointed to and said please have a read of this. And it was just basically the question to say is everything ok at home are you in any danger.
They find their ways to ask you. Sad what some people go through 😔

I've posted a few times in this thread but don't really belong anymore as I'm not due in March after all! I thought EDD was 23/03 but booked a private scan this week for a few reasons - I wasn't 100% on my dates and thought I might be 4 weeks ahead than what we initially thought. Plus I hadn't been experiencing systoms so was worried something was wrong.

It turns out we WERE wrong with the dates... And baby is due early January! It's such a shock, can't believe I'm almost half way through my pregnancy already.

Wishing all you ladies well with the rest of your first trimester ❤️

JB2021 · 05/08/2022 11:31

Booking appointment done. Midwife was lovely.

Now got to wait for a scan letter which is currently taking about 3 weeks. Scans usually between 11 and 14 weeks in our area.

Franklin321 · 05/08/2022 11:35

@Bee16 thats crazy! My dream is to fly through a pregnancy that quickly 🤣

Oh wow congratulations! At least you were kind of expecting it!

Babynum2 · 05/08/2022 12:09

@Bee16 join the jan group ive been in 1 of thesr groups every pregnancy and its great. Your so lucky i wish i was further along its dragging. I found out at 4 months with my first i was only 18 and just a silly teenager! 9 years later me and my partner are still together and on our third😘

Bee16 · 05/08/2022 12:18

Thank you everyone!

@Franklin321 everyone has been telling me how lucky I am 😂 so glad to avoid the sickness and other unpleasant symptoms.

@Babynum2 I will have a look for the January group and say hello. Congrats on baby number 3! Hopefully it stops dragging for you soon.

TeddyBeans · 05/08/2022 12:29

@Bee16 wow congratulations! I'd love to fly through pregnancy like that 🤣 good luck on the Jan group but do feel free to keep us posted here ❤️

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 05/08/2022 17:56

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing ok. I had a an scan last week that dated the baby a few days ahead so new due date is 6th March. So I’m 9+4 now. The nausea is so much worse than either of my first two pregnancies I’m really struggling and it lasts all day - at it’s worst late afternoon and early eve. Has anyone gone to GP for anti nausea meds and do they work? I don’t think I can hack another 3 weeks or more of this. (Seem to remember it was better after 12 week scan last times)

Sandcastles24 · 05/08/2022 18:51

@JB2021 I am glad your appointment went well and you liked the midwife. 3 weeks seems a long wait for an appointment date.

@Bee16 congratulations on your new date. I hope it hasnt messed up your 12 week scan dates x
