Congrats to new joiners and those who've shared their gorgeous 12 week scan photos recently ☺️

The pregnancy hungover feeling every so often in the morning is not fun!
I've been so sick in the past few weeks, but now my tablets are managing that/perhaps I'm getting far enough along for it to start lifting.
But this hungover feeling has replaced it - headache, dry mouth, nausea, dizzy when I wake up - ewwwww!
Just a moan really!
I'm 12+4 today, going for my 12 week scan today 🙏🤞

havanamama · 24/08/2022 07:44

@BethBeef congratulations ! 🤗

I’m 12 weeks tomorrow and we got our 20week scan date booked 🥰 can’t wait to see baby again and to find out the sex

Question : have you guys already bought something for the baby?

I’ve got nothing so far, just some pregnancy bits - a journal, a baby book, and looking at getting a pregnancy pillow soon.

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 08:14

@TeddyBeans I'm going to be doing the nub theory all being well, with my 12 week scan which is next week 😬😬 I think I will send mine to the nub techs and see what their prediction is, I did it for the ramzi theory from my early scan, so I'm intrigued to see if they will say the same as what they did for ramzi or if it will be different 🤭

TeddyBeans · 24/08/2022 09:05

@allthingssparkly is that the one you have to pay for?

Yes it is @TeddyBeans 😊😊

TeddyBeans · 24/08/2022 09:17

@allthingssparkly I might do it after I've had my private scan to see if they come to the same conclusion 😁

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 09:45

Good idea @TeddyBeans let me know if you do 😊 can't wait to see what their result is once I've had my scan 😬

Franklin321 · 24/08/2022 09:56

I just read all of the NHS brochures for the illnesses they check for at the 20 week anatomy scan 😐 but the risks are so low I hope all of us will be ok !

ChristmasJumpers · 24/08/2022 10:22

Has everyone heard back from their local hospital by now? I referred myself online over 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing yet. The number to call them rings for a while, plays a message then cuts off (the message says they will be in contact by 10 weeks gestation but surely that's a bit late for first contact?) I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow

I’ve got nothing so far, just some pregnancy bits - a journal, a baby book, and looking at getting a pregnancy pillow soon.

We popped out and bought a token item (cute little knitted cardi) after our private early scan.
It hangs in our bedroom and is a lovely little symbol of our excitement and times to come.

We did SneakPeek and my partner is keen to buy something else according to the gender, but I'm not convinced after reading reviews so am holding out for the scan.

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 11:14

Does anyone know what the blood's tests are that you have done when you go for your 12 week scan? 😊

havanamama · 24/08/2022 11:20

@allthingssparkly its to test for the 3 illnesses. Combined with the NT measurement they do in the ultrasound, they then will calculate chances of having it.

havanamama · 24/08/2022 11:20

@botbump aww cute!!

I had a similar experience - though was actually speaking to people on my calls and the contact point kept getting later and later.

I did get my 12 week scan letter when I was around 11 weeks - though it was originally booked for when I'd be 14 weeks so I called to change it.

I eventually heard from a midwife at around 12 weeks who called and did a light questionnaire and booked my booking appointment which is today - at 14 weeks. I had to go 'out of local area' for that too as the closer date in my area would put me at 16 weeks.

It seems some areas are drowning right now - it's my first and I'm a little concerned for how the experience will play out.
Hoping it improves now I'm 'in the system'.

Definitely worth chasing them hard though!

T13, T18 and T21. Edwards, pataus and downs syndrome. Edwards and pataus are generally not compatible with life conditions and the main reasons for TFMR. You get a number in number chance, 1 in 500,000 for example, and a low number (eg. 1 in 5) prompts further testing like NIPT or amniocentesis

@havanamama yes i have a changing table sitting in my downstairs bathroom because my friend is moving and gave me for free. Its solid so cant take apart so will just stay there couldnt turn it down. My mum has also got me 5 outfits in sainsburys sale but keeping them at hers.

Eastybaby19 · 24/08/2022 14:12

Anyone else absolutely dying to know or know what they're having? 🙈🙈
I paid for the nub/skull "experts" thing but I can't trust is til I get my gender scan!! 13 weeks on Saturday so still a few weeks to go, have a 3yr old boy at home & would love a girl this time but won't be disappointed for a boy either 🥰 just 2 very different pregnancies 🤷‍♀️

Splashh · 24/08/2022 14:51

@ChristmasJumpers i think most people have, did my referral around 7 weeks, based in N London. I had my midwife appt at 9 weeks and was notified via email and letters at least a week before that. Definitely a capacity issue, if the number doesn’t work, try the central switchboard… I find sometimes direct lines for hospital departments aren’t up to date.
