@Eastybaby19 also desperate to know whether I'm having a girl or a boy this time round, the wait is real 🙈 I'm 12 weeks tomorrow. I don't know if I can bare to wait until 20 weeks to find out, may have to book a private gender scan 🤭

GreenIsle · 24/08/2022 15:07

My 12 weeks bloods are just routine full blood count and check your immune to things. I thought they only tested for abnormalities if your suspected or higher risk, that's a special blood test isn't it. Not the routine 12 week ones,

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 15:12

Ahh I thought they tested for the abnormalities at around 12 weeks with all pregnancy women @GreenIsle? Suppose I'll have to wait and see with what they say when I go for my scan next week.

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 15:14

Dreamingof3 · 24/08/2022 15:17

@Eastybaby19 I really want to know! Not quite 10 weeks yet so a while to go. We're going to book a private gender scan and the one near me does them from 15 weeks 🤞

I already have 2 girls and would actually quite like a third. But I don't really mind either way. They both want a girl though so we're thinking if we find out early and it's a boy they'll have time to get used to the idea

Oh me too. I thought I wouldn’t care about the gender and I don’t have a specific one I want tbh but I just want to try and picture it better 😂 I have an 11 year old son already and we have been through a lot together and in a way I think if I had a girl it might be easier for him as he’s still my prince 🤴 I had a scan today due to some complications. Measured 10 weeks + 6 days and I’m squinting at it to see if I know it it’s a boy or a girl 😂 it’s probably impossible to know

attatched it to the post. Mad how much they grow it was jumping around putting it’s legs and arms in the air. Last had a scan at 7 weeks and it was a blob haha

you can buy early blood tests to determine gender from 6 weeks called sneak peak tm 99% accurate if you are very desperate. I thought about it but I think an email to say if you have a boy or girl isn’t as good as seeing them on screen 😄

2nd early scan with EPU this morning…measuring between 10+4 and 10+6 🥰 only 12 days till 12 week dating scan now!

Ah so cute. I got a scan too today and was measuring between 10 weeks 6 days as 11 weeks aswell. Bit further than I thought. Mad how much they move around 🥰

Eastybaby19 · 24/08/2022 15:41

I'm definitely going to book a private gender scan too 🙈 I did it with my son at 16 weeks and they see the baby & it's gender in 4D it's amazing!! 3 weeks to wait for me 🤞 I was thinking of doing the sneak peak but I'd be afraid to get my hopes up! The nub "expert" thing I paid for said girl though and I kinda think it's a girl just because a very different pregnancy 🤷‍♀️🥰

T13, T18 and T21. Edwards, pataus and downs syndrome. Edwards and pataus are generally not compatible with life conditions and the main reasons for TFMR. You get a number in number chance, 1 in 500,000 for example, and a low number (eg. 1 in 5) prompts further testing like NIPT or amniocentesis

Not necessarily incompatible with life. Babies can have partial versions of Edward's and Patau's, with a huge range of how badly they are affected. Even with the full conditions, around 1 in 10 live beyond 5 years. It's not possible to tell the full extent until after they are born.

This NHS site has some helpful information: www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/chromosomal-conditions

allthingssparkly · 24/08/2022 16:16

@Blondewave aw what a cute little scan, it is amazing how much they change in a few short weeks!

I sent my early scan to the nub techs for the ramzi theory to be done and their answer came back as 75% confident, I'm going to send them my 12 week scan for a nub theory result, intrigued to see whether they will say the same as they did for thee ramzi theory.

I think I'll have to book a gender scan, the wait between 12 week and 20 week scan is too long for my liking 🤣 I want to buy baby bits that aren't just unisex and I can't yet 🙈

Laur1980 · 24/08/2022 16:40

Hi everyone, first time on here. Got the biggest shock of my life two weeks ago when I found out I was pregnant, I'm nearly 9 weeks 😳 I've just turned 42 and have just started college, so everything is mad at the moment. I have a high miscarriage rate so I'm very anxious although everything so far seems fine 😊🤞🤞 anyway I have the worst nausea and wondered if anyone has any miracle cures 🤣 I'm struggling to do or eat anything. Hope everyone is keeping well ❤️

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 24/08/2022 17:09

Congrats and Welcome @Laur1980! 41 here and been way more nauseous than either of my first two pregnancies this time around. Am 12 weeks now fortunately and it seems to be easing off. Eating regularly (small amounts of stuff like oatcakes only thing that helped.

Everyone who has had 12 week scan - how long has it been taken to get blood results for combined test? In my first two pregnancies I got it same day (massive university teaching hospital in London) but seems here (rural Scotland) that’s not how it goes. Great to get any insight to prepare myself (scan on Monday and really want to start telling people fingers crossed all ok)

Rainbowbaby23 · 24/08/2022 17:16

Anyones nausea stopped and not plagued with AWFUL headaches around 11 weeks

Katlouise24 · 24/08/2022 17:42

@Rainbowbaby23 .. I'm 11+3 today and all my sickness, nausea and headaches stopped abruptly this week...

I started to panic but everyone I've spoken to has said this is completely normal!

Bobduncan · 24/08/2022 18:03

I've got a bit ahead of myself today and downloaded the baby name version of Tinder called Kinder 😂it's a great time waster while you're commuting home on the bus 😜

TeddyBeans · 24/08/2022 18:14

@Deut28 this is why I said generally

@Thirdtimesacharm3 I had my scan on the 18th and haven't had my results yet so assuming low risk as they said they'd call within a few days if I were high risk

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 24/08/2022 18:37

@Bobduncan I have this too! We set it up months ago before we were even trying to get pregnant. We ran the name selections out 🤣

Cdoc · 24/08/2022 18:41

@Katlouise24 @Rainbowbaby23 me too! I’m 11+6 today but my nausea seemed to almost disappear at 11+2. It’s crept back in waves over the few days since then, but a fraction of how bad it was from 6-11 weeks! I’ve heard it’s quite normal around this time 🤞🏼

Hopingforarainbow27 · 24/08/2022 19:17

Had my booking appt today. So relieved. Baby was chilling sucking it's thumb with it's legs crossed. Can't wait until 16 weeks for a gender scan!

Due March 2023 - thread 2

@Hopingforarainbow27 beautiful scan ♥️

Babynum2 · 24/08/2022 20:14

I have never done nub theory but my 12 week scan i dont even think u can see the nub so not sure if its worth me wasting the money? Im on holiday when 16 weeks for 2 weeks so wouldnt find out until 18 weeks and then its a bit pointless may aswell wait until the 20 week scan. Ive attached picture do you think its worth me trying the nub thing?

Due March 2023 - thread 2
Eastybaby19 · 24/08/2022 21:33

Aww lovely scans!! Love seeing them all!! @Babynum2 they can also do the skull theory if they can't see nub! I've no idea how nub theory works something to do with nub and spine I think 🙈

dmb91 · 24/08/2022 22:35

Those of you paying for nub theory.. there's a fantastic nub theory page on Facebook who will tell you for free!
It's called 'The Nub Experts BabyNub'
A lot of my friends have used it and I've not known them to be wrong yet. They will tell you straight if nub isn't visible or if it's early and may still rise.

Team yellow over here though! I want the surprise 💛

GreenIsle · 25/08/2022 07:55

I paid for the nub theory last time but they could not tell, they refund your money if they cannot give you an answer so just check their details to make sure.
