Planning to tell work nearer to the time required by law. I work from home and not much disruption tbh but also on a fixed term contract and dont want to give a reason for not renewing to a perm (although contract says i have all benefits of perm inc maternity)

havanamama · 23/08/2022 07:42

I’m thinking of the 20 weeks just cause that’s the final important scan.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 23/08/2022 09:34

Has anyone had their 12 weeks scan and the yolk
Sac was still present?

EasterBunny7 · 23/08/2022 09:42

@Hopingforarainbow27 I'd be interested to know the same. I had a scan at 9.5 weeks and it was still there and my placenta hadn't completed yet. I then read online that the yolk sac can hang around until 14 weeks.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 23/08/2022 10:00

The girl said to me, there's your placenta starting to form but afterwards I thought to myself surely it should be formed by now? Or nearly anyway! That scan was at 11 weeks 3 days. I have my booking appt tomorrow so just nervous!

@Hopingforarainbow27 when I had my 12 week scan with my son the yolk sac was still present and I was measuring 12+5! I asked the sonographer and she said it was normal and then when I had a scan at 16 weeks it was gone!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 23/08/2022 10:32

@Franklin321 thank you, that's reassuring! 💞

Amy1303 · 23/08/2022 10:35

Morning ladies..

Been lurking in the background just reading comments.

Currently expecting baby no2, I have a 9 year old so feels brand new.

Currently 9 weeks and on anti sickness but have woke this morning and boobs don't feel half as sore or swollen, is this normal? Had early scan at 7 weeks and all was fine xxx

havanamama · 23/08/2022 11:04

@Amy1303 That’s normal for symptoms to fluctuate

Rainbowbaby23 · 23/08/2022 14:07

im 11 weeks today and keep getting like shooting type pains in my ahem vagina?🤣cervix area???

TeddyBeans · 23/08/2022 15:21

Good old fanny daggers! I don't know if there's a purpose to them this early on but they're bloody annoying that's for sure!

Anyone on here had there 12 week appt in Belfast and heard the heartbeat? I'm hearing some people say they don't listen to it! Obviously I'll be happy to see it flicker but I would love to hear it as well

Marfs10 · 23/08/2022 16:33

@Hopingforarainbow27 not sure about Belfast but I know England and Wales don’t attempt listening in until at least the 16 week appointment because it’s just so hit and miss until then

hol92 · 23/08/2022 17:28

@Rainbowbaby23 i had these 😂😂 they are so strange! ... is anyone getting a hairy belly? I noticed this the other day and had no idea it was a symptom 😂

Hi I'm from the area, in Belfast your 12 week appointment is usually your booking in appointment which is a abdominal scan which you can see heartbeat and all your paperwork completed. After this they do not listen to heartbeat with a Doppler until 16 week check.

Rainbowbaby23 · 23/08/2022 18:27

@hol92 yeah I’ve noticed 🤣🤣🤣

Hopingforarainbow27 · 23/08/2022 18:47

@GreenIsle ok thanks!! A few more weeks to wait then lol!!

havanamama · 23/08/2022 20:32

I’m in England and they didn’t play the heartbeat at the 12 week scan.

My private scan place did play it even before showing me the visual, which was so nice. It immediately made it feel like - wow there’s another person here! 🥰

We heard ours at our 12 week scan. SE England

Which has nothing to do with Belfast and I completely missed that bit when reading your post 🤣 sorry @Hopingforarainbow27

Has anyone who's had their 12 week scan tried nub/skull theories for gender? Mines a write off - no nub visible and the head changes shape depending which scan you look at but it's fun to look anyway

OP posts:
Choc2022 · 23/08/2022 21:14

Me too. Also noticed a few dark chin hairs

havanamama · 23/08/2022 21:25

@TeddyBeans I tried the nub theory, did a few online quizzes based on symptoms, the Chinese calendar, etc and everything says it’s a girl!

Bobduncan · 23/08/2022 21:33

I was looking at the ramzi theory which says the position of the placenta determines gender. Based on my scan, if this is true my little one is going to be a girl! 😜

TeddyBeans · 23/08/2022 21:38

@havanamama Chinese calendar says girl for me too 🤔

@Bobduncan I've never managed to work out where the placenta is on the scan. How did you locate it?

OP posts:
Bobduncan · 23/08/2022 22:18

@TeddyBeans I went for a private scan and the sonographer happened to tell me!😃
