I told my work at 6 weeks as I was so poorly. You are protected against sickness discrimination when your employer knows you are pregnant so good to tell them as early as possible. Some people don’t as they worry they might miscarry but likely you’d need time off too if that happened and aloe of work places offer support for miscarriage now. My work do a pregnancy work place safety assessment after 12 week scan x

havanamama · 22/08/2022 09:56

I was told by my midwife the movements would be felt first around 18-20 weeks

firstlittleone · 22/08/2022 10:14

@Blondewave
thanks so much, not that I wish sickness like it on anyone but nice to know people are in the same boat! I haven’t been sick in over 48hrs but felt a little nauseous of the evenings which calmed me🤦🏼‍♀️
I have booked a scan later in the week just to ease my mind so fingers crossed all ok!! X

hol92 · 22/08/2022 10:50

@firstlittleone exactly the same! I am 9 weeks and about half a week ago I was able to eat again after gagging at everything and feeling awful! I do still get nausea but it comes in waves now rather than constant, it’s worried me too but so many people said that had the same thing :) so I’m trying to keep calm! Saying that I have a private scan today at 3pm and my anxiety is so bad but I think it would be regardless of symptoms or not I always fear the worst Eugh! xx

Babynum2 · 22/08/2022 11:54

I have never waited until 12 weeks to tell work or my loved ones with each of my pregnancies. Each to their own but i dont know who made the rule of 12 weeks but i know id tell people no matter the outcome good or bad.

Babynum2 · 22/08/2022 11:57

@havanamama it just depends i felt from 14 weeks last time i think you feel it earlier when you know what you are looking for

firstlittleone · 22/08/2022 12:07

@hol92 Did you notice that the sickness just dropped off one day?
Fingers crossed for your scan later although I’m sure it’ll be great! X

hol92 · 22/08/2022 12:09

@firstlittleone yeah before the Moment I woke up I felt sick then one day I woke up and felt okay and wanted breakfast and was very hungry! I still get nausea but on and off , thank you so much xx

havanamama · 22/08/2022 13:29

Has anyone been experiencing headaches?

ive had one for 2nd day now and had another within a week.

Scared to take any Paracetamol. I’ve tried going for a walk in fresh air, resting, meditating, massaging temples, drinking water, but no luck so far.

Eastybaby19 · 22/08/2022 13:42

@havanamama if it continues go and get BP checked! I started at 14 weeks with pregnancy hypertension was started on labeetalol medication for BP that continued to go up all through my last pregnancy but mine started with headaches that wouldn't go away! Paracetamol is fine! They had me on Co-codamol.

hol92 · 22/08/2022 15:20

scan went perfect :) 8w + 6 and got to hear the heartbeat, so feeling reassured for...today haha!

@hol92 great picture! So happy your scan went well xx

SunnieP · 22/08/2022 17:41

Hi everyone 😊we ended up going for a private scan yesterday as couldn’t wait any longer! I’m measuring at 10 weeks and baby seemed fine all relaxed! (apart from being upside down! 😂😂) I was prescribed aspirin to take by the midwife from now but some people have been told from 12 weeks, she said it’s safe to take from now, has anyone else been prescribed aspirin? Xx

TeddyBeans · 22/08/2022 18:08

@SunnieP I've been taking aspirin since 6 weeks. If your midwife said start now then follow that

@hol92 beautiful scan ❤️

Thank you @TeddyBeans and @hol92 😊❤️❤️

Splashh · 22/08/2022 18:31

Congrats guys! @SunnieP im on aspirin too (150mg) since seeing my midwife, apparently it’s now in the guidelines for certain risk groups.

@havanamama I was also thinking about when to tell work… I cant complain as I’m working from home, so far I’ve managed the nausea and fatigue without telling them. Am now thinking about telling them after our 12 week scan (next week) bcos I am struggling to keep up with the usual workload and I’m not sure how much longer I can get away with it if these symptoms continue 😅😅

ChristmasJumpers · 22/08/2022 18:36

@hol92 I am 8+4 today and felt honestly awful from 6 weeks to 8+2 and then it eased off massively. I can finally stand to eat more things but still not quite 100% and do get waves of nausea. I'm hoping everything is okay and just so grateful I can eat again 😂 it's really reassuring to see your scan and hear everything is okay as to don't see many people's symptoms easing at 8 weeks, it is quite worrying

hol92 · 22/08/2022 18:41

I’m exactly the same as you with that I’m still not wanting to eat certain things and get waves of nausea and some days I’m worse than others but nothing like how i was before, same! I just don’t hear of people symptoms easing at that time so was so happy to see a positive scan :) like you say let’s count ourselves lucky we can eat again 😀😀😂 x

muminlndn · 22/08/2022 19:04

If it makes anyone feel better, I'm 10 weeks today and my nausea and fatigue was worse again today. Fell asleep mid afternoon and haven't done that in a while! Hope it eases off again soon 😌

Perexi · 22/08/2022 19:43

Ah lovely scan pic's! So exciting!

I finally have my booking appointment this week, time is dragging. I just want to know it's all ok but as my partner says there is literally nothing we can do to change anything and we're doing the right things, I think I'm just impatient 😂

I'm with you on the tiredness @muminlndn I fell asleep on the sofa today! But when I wake up during the night for the multiple toilet trips required I can't get back to sleep!

muminlndn · 22/08/2022 20:44

@Perexi yes same here! I lose an hour or more of sleep after getting up for the bathroom. Last night I tried to ignore my bladder but it was a bit uncomfortable 😅

havanamama · 22/08/2022 20:47

Re Aspirin - Thank you for sharing your experiences.
my midwife told me to take 150mg, but my GP disagreed and said I don’t need it.
so I didn’t take it.
But my headache was such a pain, that I did take 75mg tonight and it stopped 🙌

I’ve decided to take 75mg dose daily until my next consultant/GP/midwife appointment as I’m just scared to get a blood cloth or worse !

BlondePotter · 22/08/2022 21:03

@Perexi same! I get up for a wee then can't get to sleep for an hour. Last night didn't help when 15mo woke herself up coughing and wouldn't go back to sleep until she had some milk.
Makes me question why I'm having another sometimes 🤣
Scan date tomorrow, I feel so nervous - need to stop reading negative MN threads 🤦🏼‍♀️

TeddyBeans · 22/08/2022 21:26

Also if it makes anyone feel better, I threw up this morning out of the blue at 13+1 and haven't managed to shake the nausea all day
