Oh bless you ❤️ I can’t even imagine, it’s so surreal that this is happening I think I’m my mind it’s still not real, I just can’t wait to be able to see him/her and know everything is okay so far xx

Those that are working, when do you plan to tell your employer?

I told one senior person at 11.5 weeks as I was pretty sure he'd seen a message from my partner discussing our babymoon.
Don't think he actually did - he was very kind and said he'd sit on the news until I'd had my 12 week scan/screening.

Not what I expected as I'm a senior person in a very obvious 'boy's club' and have seen nothing but misogyny and rudeness regarding pregnancy at any level in the company.
I was pretty worried about telling them, so this was a pleasant surprise!
Hoping the wider announcement goes as well!

hol92 · 21/08/2022 12:30

@Franklin321 🥰🥰 so lovely, thank you! Was your external? Xx

Franklin321 · 21/08/2022 12:33

@hol92 yeh it was, just had a slightly full bladder and they could see everything fine 😊

TeddyBeans · 21/08/2022 13:17

@havanamama I text mine the day after my 12 week scan (we're on summer break) in case I need a risk assessment for going back in September

@dmb91 I think everyone has one at 28ish weeks anyway so they've just brought yours forward a little bit.

@AK93 lanisoh was always good when breastfeeding so I'd imagine it'd work the same now, it lastd ages too so can use it for once the baby is born too 😂

Thank you I’ll look into it especially if it lasts well! xx

Babynum2 · 21/08/2022 14:17

@havanamama im self employed cleaner and have told all my clients already just due to needing time off ect.

JB2021 · 21/08/2022 14:56

Don't want to get into a debate on views on the tests. But those of you who are waiting until 12 week scan to tell family/friends, are you doing so straight after the scan or are you waiting until the test results are back?

Bobduncan · 21/08/2022 15:47

@JB2021 we want to tell DPs parents and other close family straight after after 12 week scan but are undecided about waiting for the blood test results first. We are waiting till 14 weeks to tell friends as I would like time to just share it and enjoy the news with immediate family first 😊

JB2021 · 21/08/2022 16:06

@Bobduncan parents already know. Next step is brothers x3, grandma's d close friends. Then social media post. We def want to do after scan but unsure if we wait for results....

Hi all, hope you’re all well. Hoping some of you could help ..
I’m 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have suffered awfully with sickness the last month or so (like most on here I feel). The last couple of days have been so different I’ve kept down all meals and not felt as ill at all which has me worrying something has gone wrong. I had a scan just after 6 weeks and everything was OK. Is what I’m experiencing normal? Should the sickness just go like that?

any responses would be greatly appreciated x

GreenIsle · 21/08/2022 16:23

I have told parents but nobody else, this is our third and last child so I want to hold onto it quietly for a little bit longer. We are waiting until 16 weeks when we have a gender scan then will announce. Although we told at 12 weeks with the previous 2 children. I will tell employer after this 16 weeks also.

I'm a little behind you (8.5 week's) but last few days I've felt a lot better to the point I have been able to eat more than just toast or ready salted crisps! Also worry that there's something wrong but so many thread's on here saying that they had similar so I'm holding onto that!

firstlittleone · 21/08/2022 16:28

I’m trying not to worry as when in the rough of the sickness I prayed not to be as ill! I’m getting a slight cramp or what feels pulling/stretching sensation in my lower abdomen also thinking ‘ahh is this normal’ !!

havanamama · 21/08/2022 16:56

We told all our friends and family after the 7+5 scan, but some knew earlier. I would have shared good or bad news anyways.

work i think I’ll tell around 20 weeks

Dreamingof3 · 21/08/2022 18:46

@hol92 I had a scan yesterday at 9+1 and the sonographer said it was a very awkward and well hidden baby 😂 but we still got to see a heart beat and had a photo where you can just about see what it is 🙈 still worth it though

@GreenIsle were waiting til 16 weeks to do a wider announcement too, but all of our close family know now....mainly because I've been really sick so needed the support Nd also because we have a family wedding coming up and didn't want to take the attention by announcing around the same time.

Not told work yet, doesn't have any effect on my job and I've not long started so thinking I'll wait until nearer 20 weeks

Bobduncan · 21/08/2022 19:40

My work contract says I must inform them in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy (maybe so they can do a risk assessment, even though I just work in an office!) It will be good to let them know so I don't have to keep making excuses for not attending work events 👌

TeddyBeans · 21/08/2022 20:38

@firstlittleone my sickness dropped off at around 9 weeks. I'm 13 weeks now and it's come back in little fits and spurts in the last few weeks but nothing unbearable. 12 week scan last Thursday was absolutely fine so I'm sure yours will be too 😊

I'm pretty sure the "movements" I've been feeling for the last week or so are actually baby now. They're getting to be too regular to be anything else. I feel them maybe once or twice a day. It sounds ridiculous because I'm only 13 weeks and have an anterior placenta but I guess baby must be underneath that at the moment.

Is anyone else on 2nd or more baby feeling any movements yet? I feel a bit bonkers given its so early on. Last time, DS gave me an almighty headbutt at 17 weeks and then appeared regularly after that 🤷‍♀️

Oh that sounds exciting, I'm on my 3rd baby but not 12 weeks until Tuesday so will let you known if I feel anything in next few weeks.

I read earlier with subsequent pregnancies you can feel baby as early as 13 weeks!

Jholli · 22/08/2022 02:12

What week does MS tend to stop I am really struggling
I can’t stand the smell of shower gels
the feel of getting in the shower
seeing people smoke (don’t have to smell it) just the sight
seeing people drink 🍺 😷
the fridge smells disgusting and so does the dishwasher I’m scared to open it
can’t bring the bins out
basically everything is making me nauseous 😖
driving in the car list is endless

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 22/08/2022 06:11

@Jholli I'm totally with you on that. I walk into my bathroom and want to throw up instantly! I think it's usually around 12-14 weeks but with my first it lasted until I was 25 weeks so I'm just going to expect that as a worse case scenario 😬

Hello - I’ve had debilitating nausea and sickness since 6.5. Been on all sorts of medications.
Yesterday I was dry wretching on oxygen 🙄😂

woke up this morning and I still feel sick but it’s no where near as intense. I’m 10 weeks today. Placenta takes over around 10 weeks so the hormones go through that instead and get ‘filtered’ so won’t feel as intense to your body so symptoms should feel less. Fingers crossed for you it doesn’t come back. With my first baby my sickness was totally gone by 12 weeks.
i haven’t wanted any food or no cravings nothing so I can’t wait till I can enjoy food again as every single thing has tasted awful the last few weeks

Chance of having a miscarriage after 8 weeks is slim. 7/8 weeks is the main danger zone due to chromosomal problems with embryo. Some people miscarry at 7/8 weeks and don’t find out until later that however likely they will notice a change around the 7/8 week mark. If it’s 10 weeks more likely it’s just your placenta taking over ♥️
