8 weeks 2 nosebleeds in this last week with mouth clots?! What the heck
midwife said this is because I’m pregnant
is that right?

I was listening to a podcast earlier and it did say nosebleeds can be more likely in early pregnancy but I can't say I know much about it sorry! The podcast is called is it normal and was the 8 to 10 weeks one I think if you wanted to listen.

alotoftutus · 20/08/2022 11:25

@Jholli don't worry - your body produces more of everything when pregnant - mucas, blood, bogies the lot. I don't generally get nose bleeds but my nose it's ridiculously blocked and the bogies are massive (sorry TMI) 🤣 pregnancy does weird and gross stuff, if your midwife isn't worried then try not to be. Maybe next time as gross as it is take a pic of any clots coming out of your mouth and you can always show her just to make sure. Xxx

Jholli · 20/08/2022 11:53

Thank you I can still taste and see blood in my spit half an hour later
I feel so sick too so this is really awful

BlondePotter · 20/08/2022 13:55

@Jholli nosebleeds are quite normal, your blood volume increases when pregnant and that does things like increase your resting heart rate = more pressure on weak nose vessels

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 20/08/2022 18:19

Welcome @SunnieP!! they offer combined test at the 12 week scan so bloods and measure the nuchal transcluency at the back of neck. Gives you risk factors for chromosome conditions. Mine is a week on Monday - when is your 12 weeks?

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 20/08/2022 18:20

@Jholli i had nosebleeds with my first between about 8 and 10 weeks. They stopped as abruptly as they started!!

SunnieP · 20/08/2022 18:38

Thank you glad to be here 😊 Aahh I see that’s reassuring they do both at the same time, I’m still awaiting my 12 week scan (I’m around 9 and a bit weeks now I think) I’m debating booking in for a private reassurance scan soon though as the wait is driving me crazy! 🙈xx

Babynum2 · 20/08/2022 19:45

@SunnieP aww theres 13 years between me and my brother (my mum had me at 15 and then wanted kids later) and i helped my mum bring him up it was so nice i looked at him like my child still do now.

SunnieP · 20/08/2022 19:57

Aaww that’s lovely 🥰 my daughter can’t wait and has already offered to babysit whenever I need her to 😊although I reckon she will probably want paying after the first few times! 😂😂xx

Jholli · 20/08/2022 23:00

Thanks everyone just one last thing in addition to the sporadic nosebleeds I have really low energy
ie walking upstairs is hard work!

Cats23 · 20/08/2022 23:31

@Babynum2 - That's what my partners view is! We told the Dc today- all excited!
@SunnieP , I'm 37 & will be nearly 38 withis baby- I am classed as geriatric!
My older Dc are 19,14,7,5.
I'm consultant led as My 19yr old was born at 27weeks (Pre-eclampsia) No problems with the younger 3, but still consultant led.

Babynum2 · 21/08/2022 01:24

I think i may be consultant led i have every app at the hospital and im part of the "complex care team" due to 2 early babies and a big bleed i had after last baby. It can be many different reasons i think but just ask them next time sure they will explain x

AK93 · 21/08/2022 08:46

Has anybody got any recommendations for nipple creams/balms etc or know whether it's likely to soothe during pregnancy? Not that I'd want to touch them when they're so sore but I woke up during the night with the worst nipple soreness I've had and am wondering whether it might be a good idea to get something early as I'll likely need something later on anyway! 🙈xx

TeddyBeans · 21/08/2022 08:47

@AK93 the only one I've ever heard of is lanisoh (sp?) But vaseline might do in a pinch?

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 21/08/2022 10:25

@AK93 lanisoh was always good when breastfeeding so I'd imagine it'd work the same now, it lastd ages too so can use it for once the baby is born too 😂

dmb91 · 21/08/2022 10:26

Quick question.. had booking appt already, bmi was 32.5 so will need GD test at 24 weeks. Been very unwell so far, have lost quite a bit of weight and bmi is now very close to being under 30. Will I still need GD check if my weight continues to drop?
Only about 8.5 weeks atm if that makes any difference?

BlondePotter · 21/08/2022 10:36

@dmb91 mine dropped with my first and I still had to have the test as it was just based on my original weight

havanamama · 21/08/2022 10:56

Those that are working, when do you plan to tell your employer?

JB2021 · 21/08/2022 11:45

@havanamama i told my manager and team straight away due to heavy lifting

dmb91 · 21/08/2022 11:53

@BlondePotter thank you, I'm sure the weight will go back on when I start being able to stomach food again anyway

Perexi · 21/08/2022 12:01

Probably once we know everything is ok at the scan.... already feel a bit nervous as we are a small team and I've just taken on some new work that I'm being trained on so feel guilty

dmb91 · 21/08/2022 12:11

@havanamama I've told my manager and one supervisor already because I'm so ill, I haven't told the two other supervisors because I know they won't keep it to themselves.
Once we've had the scan and told our parents we will start telling more people

hol92 · 21/08/2022 12:24

I told my manager too , have my 9 week private scan tomorrow, did anyone else have one at the stage and can you see much? :) not that I’m fussed it’s just to put my mind at ease about the heartbeat etc. So nervous abs exited! X

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 21/08/2022 12:27

@hol92 I've just had a private scan today and I'm 9+5 and can see loads. I heard the heartbeat and burst into tears too. It doesn't get any less magical being your second!

Franklin321 · 21/08/2022 12:28

@havanamama ive told my direct manager because of my history I may have needed some extra time off, the rest of the team I’ll tell after my 12 week scan in 2 weeks time!

@hol92 i had a scan at 8+4/5 and could see a definite shape and heartbeat was nice and clear! Good luck 🙂
