@Hopingforarainbow27 I think at your weeks it may likely be abdominal without any issues if they suggest internal you can decline and take abdominal. I would go for the scan because they take a small video of baby moving aswell which is lovely to have. I went to baby bond.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 15:26

@GreenIsle thank you. What hosp are you with? So you'll be 11 weeks when you have your booking appt? I'll be 12 on Monday

Rainbowbaby23 · 17/08/2022 15:28

@Hopingforarainbow27 ive had both abdominal and internal scans but internal was definitely clearer!

I also work at the Royal as receptionist! Ive been constantly checking the computer for my 12 week app as i go away when im 13 weeks and don’t want it overlapping

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 15:30

Thanks @Rainbowbaby23 I might book the one for tonight then and hope it's abdominal. Then I might relax for a few more days. I've tried phoning the royal today but it just rings off. Not sure what's going on!

Rainbowbaby23 · 17/08/2022 15:31

@Hopingforarainbow27 try calling again I've just started work😂

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 15:33

@Rainbowbaby23 it was the maternity part I phoned, the enquiries/reception number. Is that where you are lol!! Can't believe there are so many of us here from NI!

Yes I'll be around 11 weeks 1 day (Lagan Valley).

Rainbowbaby23 · 17/08/2022 15:40

@Hopingforarainbow27 yep I work at the main reception:)

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 15:48

@Rainbowbaby23 still nothing. The number I have ends in 1037? Can I pm you on here or something?

Babynum2 · 17/08/2022 16:19

That's great news, I would maybe tell her how anxious you are and that you feel it's too early to buy things, she sound super excited for you. I myself tend to wait until at least 20 weeks also I like to buy for the specific gender so wait.

MrsD0147 · 17/08/2022 17:11

11 weeks here and nausea seems to have slightly subsided although I am absolutely zapped of any energy, I also currently have covid which has wiped me out and a toddler to run around after :(

Rainbowbaby23 · 17/08/2022 17:34

@Hopingforarainbow27 yes pm me im not too sure how to on here😂

Bobduncan · 17/08/2022 17:38

Could anyone let me know the difference between the nuchal blood tests and NIPT blood tests? The hospital sent me a few leaflets today, one of which offering a private NIPT test. Is it more accurate than the free 12 week blood tests?

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 19:17

I booked the private scan for 8pm tonight so hopefully all is well and that will tide me over for a week or so (probably will be relief for 2 days) lol

Rainbowbaby23 · 17/08/2022 19:36

@Hopingforarainbow27 good luck for your scan!!

Lilyduke · 17/08/2022 19:37

I'm also in NI but in the Western trust. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow but don't have my booking appointment until Friday. It was supposed to be last Friday but apparently there was a staff shortage so it was changed. Think it's different here compared to you guys up around Belfast as I have to wait for an appointment for a scan after the booking appointment? So I've booked a private one for tonight too as we are going over to visit family in England this weekend and I want to know everything is ok before telling everyone 🤞

Mrs2022 · 17/08/2022 20:07

Hi @Lilyduke it's funny how each trust does it differently. I'm with northern trust and will have my booking appointment / scan all together on the one day too. It's just under 3 weeks away and I'm Counting the days! 🙈

Babynumberthreeee · 17/08/2022 20:26

@Bobduncan the nuchal test is a free blood test the nhs do which tells you of your risk of the baby having down/ edwards/ pataus syndrome.

If your risk comes back as high you can either get a private nipt test which is a blood test where they remove the babys dna from your blood and predict more accurately your risk (and can tell you the sex of the baby)

Or you can have a nhs test called an amniocentesis where they take some of the fluid from the placenta and test that for the possibility of 1 of the syndromes.

The nipt test is less risky I think- I have no medical knowledge!

Probably only worth paying for depending on your nuchal results

Bobduncan · 17/08/2022 20:33

Thank you @Babynumberthreeee looks like I'll stick with the nuchal blood tests for now!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 21:39

All ok! Measuring 11 weeks 3 days! That will keep me going hopefully until booking appointment!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 17/08/2022 21:40

Had to do it internal, cos I have such a retroverted uterus she couldn't see it abdominally! Also says they don't listen to heartbeat until second trimester!

TeddyBeans · 17/08/2022 21:40

@Hopingforarainbow27 what a gorgeous scan ❤️

Mrs2022 · 17/08/2022 22:39

@Hopingforarainbow27 your scan looks fab! Great to have the peace of mind.

Cats23 · 17/08/2022 23:23

Nausea bad here still, I was so ill with dehydration on Saturday, called GP on Mon as I hadnt eaten a meal for a week (Just picking at bits ) and can't seem to stomach water much- In my 2nd Pregnancy i was admitted with HG at 8 weeks, hoping to avoid!
Started anti-sickness meds too, helped bit.
Called GP for an EPU scan but unless Im bleeding or in pain they wont see you.
I just need reassurance that despite this nausea, Baby is ok.
Our nearest private scan would be 2 hrs away.
I want to tell my Dc and close family so they can support me- mainly cook meals as the smell and idea to cook makes me feel sick, but really would like a scan before just to reassure all is ok.
Frustrating
