@TeddyBeans Oh that's good you still have some bits, I don't as my children are older 🙈 so a complete fresh, I don't want to over buy but I also think the best way for me to do it is gradually, keeps the excitement going!

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/08/2022 12:35

@Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels its terrible isn’t it! I did just clean the house so maybe did a bit too much so trying to just relax the rest of the day.

do you take any cyclazine or anything for your sickness?

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/08/2022 12:49

Thinking of going down to epu if the pain doesnt stop

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 13/08/2022 13:05

@Rainbowbaby23 yeh good idea if it's worrying you.

No I'm not on any meds but considering asking for them as im really struggling. Been 4 weeks too, and with my first I was sick until 25 weeks (not sure why I never tried meds either!) So I might have a way to go...

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/08/2022 15:45

Just told to come back if get heavy bleeding but referred to early pregnancy which isnt open until Monday

Babynum2 · 13/08/2022 16:02

@Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels Ive had every med this pregnancy for sickness cyclizine probably works the best but i have a few days ok (still sick) and then i have a few days stuck in bed cant do anything cant eat ect. Think they work different for everyone but its always worth a try!

Im feeling so guilty for my kids ive done nothing with them all summer hols because my sickness. DP has taken them out today and i feel sad missing out on the fun hes been so good this pregnancy complete opp to other 2 times but we was young before. So grateful as i dont know what i would do if i was here on my own really have respect for those who do it alone!

amylee1817 · 13/08/2022 17:54

Hey everyone!! I'm new here!
Due on 23rd March. Second baby.

Having really bad sicknesss this time, although not actually sick just feeling sick all day every day. In my last pregnancy, cyclizine alone worked really well yet this time I have been prescribed prochlorperazine in addition and they work together a little bit. But not great.

Anyway that's me, hope everyone is okay 😎

amylee1817 · 13/08/2022 17:58

@Rainbowbaby23 just seen your post about the cramping. Right now I'm suffering. On the left side, really sharp pain! I had it the last pregnancy. I noticed that it came on after I had a busy day or if I had been walking about a lot! But today it's just come on randomly.

My DS was my rainbow baby so I know how scary it can be! But your body is stronger than you think so try not to worry ❤️

TeddyBeans · 13/08/2022 18:48

@allthingssparkly I didn't start buying until after 20 weeks last time, purely because 20 weeks was mid December (IIRC) and the January sales weren't far away 😁 no such luck this time!

ChristmasJumpers · 13/08/2022 18:56

Seeing that so many have had or are on cyclizine is so frustrating. I asked the pharmacy for it and they said call the GP first as there are risks (they also gave me the bame of something safer). I rang the GP and he has refused to give me ANYTHING because of risks 😭 I am nauseous all day long and getting stomach pains because I can't eat anything.

GP has made me too nervous to take anything now anyway as he said "if you want to take the risk I will prescribe it to you"

Babynum2 · 13/08/2022 19:11

@ChristmasJumpers i have done my research it is safe as anything else we would take in pregnancy. My doctor didnt give me mine its all through my midwife at hospital so next time you go ask them.

ChristmasJumpers · 13/08/2022 19:16

Thank you, I have an early scan on Tuesday to be signed off from the IVF clinic so will ask them! My GP is honestly ridiculous

allthingssparkly · 13/08/2022 19:26

I didn't start buying until 20 weeks either with my two @TeddyBeans feel like I want to start a little sooner this time round though!

TeddyBeans · 13/08/2022 19:31

@allthingssparkly I'm going to book a gender scan at 16 weeks. If bubs is a boy I'm basically set bar a few age appropriate toys. A girl would mean a whole new wardrobe 😁 and the age appropriate toys

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 13/08/2022 19:33

@ChristmasJumpers the only reason they're touted as not safe to take in pregnancy is because it's unethical to test medicines on pregnant ladies. Your Dr is rubbish

Time for the unrequested advice: be careful with buying more pricey items too far ahead of time in case your baby doesn't like it and you're stuck with it. Baby swings, bouncers, even play mats etc are better off bought on amazon after your baby is here and swiftly returned if they or you hate them 😅
Ours hated the pram (probably reflux) and also the baby swing.

Babynum2 · 13/08/2022 19:50

@muminlndn or end up like me who went all out buying ahead with clothes (cute summer outfits in bigger aygees) and had an early baby. Had to then go out and buy all new prem baby stuff and all his summer stuff didnt fit until winter and wasnt suitable.

I think when its your first you get a little excited and carried away i know i did. I wasnt prepared for the second i didnt even have a moses basket to go home to but it all ended up being sorted before leaving hosp. I have a few things in the loft but im going to wait to see what we are having first!

allthingssparkly · 13/08/2022 20:16

@muminlndn yes I was thinking this, however I'm just going to stick with getting the pram, snuzpod4 and cot first I think, then get all baby essentials gradually. I just need to think about storing these items also 🙈🙈

@TeddyBeans Ahh good idea, I'm still debating on whether to book a private gender scan or wait until my 20 week NHS one, I have been told that will be booked when I go for my 12 week scan so I'm going to hold off until I know more about a date.

Babynumberthreeee · 13/08/2022 20:30

Hi everyone. Has taken me ages to find this thread so apologies for the late introduction! Haven't been on mumsnet for ages and can't cope with the updated version 😅

As per my username this is baby number 3 (unplanned surprise!) Ooops.
Due end of March just after my dc1s birthday (double ooops)

Luckily I gave all my baby stuff to a friend so once I'm past the 12 week mark I'll let her know I'll need it back in chronological order once she's finished with it 🙈

Not planning to find out the gender this time, we found out with the other 2 as dh really wanted to know so determined for our surprise baby to be a complete surprise to the end.

Dc1 was born with a cleft lip and palate and i had gestational diabetes with dc2 so happy to answer any questions/ support if anyone needs it.

I've skim read this thread as much as you can with 2 children so looking forward to getting to know people. Dc2 was born in the beginning of the pandemic so my last mumsnet baby threads with her was a real lifeline of support.

That was a long intro. Sorry 😅🙈

muminlndn · 13/08/2022 21:07

@Babynum2 yes that too! Or loads of cute clothes that are impractical for 10000 nappy changes/nappy leaks...
It is v exciting, and I feel like TV depicts any pregnant people with a lovely decorated nursery completed kitted out months in advance. In reality you spend a lot of the first few months lying on the sofa under a sleeping baby and you actually have plenty of time for browsing baby items online 😄

@allthingssparkly Yes storage too! We had no space last time so I think I bought the snuzpod at 36 weeks or something and kept it set it up next to the bed for the remaining time. Would've involved some self restraint 😅

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/08/2022 22:22

Cramps were starting to ease off but just got really bad pain when getting out of bed:( also worried because all of my symptoms have completely gone. Tried to see if i could book an early scan but theres nothing until next week

amylee1817 · 13/08/2022 22:48

@Rainbowbaby23 where do you live? Have you tried private scans like meet your miracle and window to the womb?

AK93 · 13/08/2022 23:01

Rainbowbaby23

Perhaps not for a scan but if the pain is severe then if you have a 24/7 pregnancy advice line at all give them a call about the pain at least and you can mention anything else that worries you too. Better for it to be known about if there's any chance you can go somewhere to get checked out or at least have somebody talk to you and hopefully give advice xx

Franklin321 · 13/08/2022 23:25

@Rainbowbaby23 did it come on when you were actually getting out of bed? I wonder if it’s ligaments? Or could be a cyst on that side?

when I’ve had miscarriages in the past the pain has been all over, not just on one side, but I know it’s scary having any pain full stop!

LittleAcorn20 · 14/08/2022 07:45

Just over 11 weeks and really can't believe the sickness is still sticking around 😩
It seems to be getting a bit better in that now it's just coming in waves of nausea that are worse in the morning or just after I've eaten. Rather than all day long and actually being sick.
Someone give me some hope it might end soon please!!!
I have read the placenta takes full control from the end of this week so should feel better then. But it just doesn't feel like it. I guess the heat isn't helpful either.
