Hi all

Thought I'd start a new thread. Just got my BFP. Had a MC in May so tentatively optimistic. Looks like my due date is April 1st. Would be good to get to know others in the same boat x

Hi, hope everyone is doing ok? please could I join for some advice.
I got my BFP last Weds due date coming out at the very end of March/beg of April. I started spotting on sat night which has turned into light/moderate bleeding, enough to wear a pad but not soaking through it, I haven't had any pain and it seems to mainly be after going to the toilet. I haven't been in this situation before so have no idea what to do. My last loss was in Feb at 18weeks so much further along. I'm on holiday (in the UK) at the moment, my question is will EPU or DR actually do anything or is it a case of waiting until I get home and testing on a weeks indicator?

36and4th · 25/07/2022 18:42

@HoneyPea it may be worth contacting EPU if it continues. They may do bloods? Especially with your previous loss, which. Really sorry to hear about. Best of luck xx

41andtryingforfirst · 25/07/2022 18:43

@HoneyPea I'd recommend you go to A and E. It may be nothing, it may be a MC but it may also be Ectopic. They can check you over and do bloods etc.

I hope you're ok and that all goes well x

@HoneyPea welcome! I agree with PPs, I would contact EPU and get some advice. Best of luck 💐

@41andtryingforfirst I had 5 days of brown discharge that finally stopped on Monday so fingers crossed yours stops soon! And good luck for the scan on Thursday!

I contacted the infertility clinic today and they want to scan me at 6-7 weeks so I've got my first scan booked for 12th August! Work has been a nice distraction today but I'm happy I only have to wait 2.5 weeks for the scan. I think I probably would have booked a private one if the clinic weren't doing it.

41andtryingforfirst · 25/07/2022 19:04

@Loz365 thanks for reaching out - ah that's good news that it has stopped! Mine seems to kick in whenever I move so I'm trying to stay very still 😂

Brilliant that you have your scan booked, I hope the time passes quickly for you. I don't think they'll see anything in my scan this week but I think they were just trying to help with the anxiety. I'll let you know how it goes x

@41andtryingforfirst @Loz365 @36and4th Thank you all for your advice. I am on holiday and have just searched and the closest EPU and A&E is just over an hour away. I'm only 4weeks and 4 days. I might ring the EPU at my local hospital for advice. It so horrible being in limbo I keep expecting to get strong pains and very heavy bleeding at any moment while also trying to have a nice holiday for my 3yr old!
Hope everyone's early scans go well x

36and4th · 25/07/2022 20:14

@41andtryingforfirst @Loz365 good luck with your scans!

I'm really tempted with booking privately. But feel I'm jinxing it.

@HoneyPea oh gosh! The anxiety is unreal, I hope that all stays well. My twins are two, and it's chaos with them 😂

limoncelloo · 26/07/2022 09:01

Hope everything is okay @HoneyPea. It's hard so early on having problems like this as you really don't know where to go when you haven't even had your first appointment yet- I remember feeling the same previously it's so confusing.

I'm glad it's not just me feeling all this anxiety then... I booked for a private scan at 6 weeks but it feels like a lifetime away.

I wouldn't say I'm crampy but I almost feel a dull "burning" type sensation. Can't remember this with previous pregnancies.

Took another pregnancy test this morning and got a dye stealer. Hope that's a good sign!

tulipsunday · 26/07/2022 10:07

Hope you are ok @HoneyPea good luck to those awaiting scans. Feel so tired today 😴 My son's childminder is closed for two weeks so am trying to juggle work and toddler care. Just want to sleep 😂

Loz365 · 26/07/2022 12:22

Used my last test this morning, great to see 2-3 weeks on it now (4+3 weeks today). I have a few cheapies left but going to try hard not to keep testing now!

@HoneyPea hope your EPU were helpful x

I'm only 3+3 and feel a bit queasy already, is anyone else the same? I was pretty sick from just over 5 weeks with my first

41andtryingforfirst · 26/07/2022 14:34

@Longbin no Sickness just major bloating like I'm 5 months pregnant. Still got the brown spotting too 😢. Day 6 now and it's doing my head in.

@Loz365 I'm 4 +3 today too! I also got a 2-3 on the CB digital x

Loz365 · 26/07/2022 15:01

@Longbin I've been feeling quite nauseous, particularly first thing in the morning. It seems to be better if I don't go hours without eating so using it as a great excuse to snack 🤣 also still get some mild cramps and my boobs are so sore!!

@41andtryingforfirst that's frustrating about the spotting. Is it getting any better? But great news with the 2-3 weeks! Isn't it nice to see the numbers change!?

Loz365 · 26/07/2022 15:04

Also not sure if it's psychological, but I've found ginger tea really helpful for the nausea!

41andtryingforfirst · 26/07/2022 15:06

@Loz365 yes it's very reassuring! I had a private blood test today and hoping I'll get the results back in a couple of days. Hopefully that'll provide more reassurance.

Is it getting better? Hmmm yes and no. It changes day to day. Today is one of the lighter days. It tends to be there when I move and stops if I lie down.

I have a theory that it's some old trapped stuff from the MC as I didn't have a period between pregnancies but the GP and EPU doctor said that's not possible. I'm not so sure though. It must be coming from somewhere?

Sorry you're feeling nauseous but at least it's further reassurance for you x

36and4th · 26/07/2022 15:50

@Loz365 really reassuring with the 2-3 weeks! @41andtryingforfirst and I'm sorry you are still getting the brown spotting, fingers crossed for the blood test results. Good news on the 2-3 weeks too!

I did the last 3 cheapy tests this morning and thankfully they've come up this time! Not massively strong, but they weren't showing anything the other day! I've been tempted with trying a CB digital next week but I think I'm just gonna leave it now. I'm just torturing myself and I think the symptoms are speaking for themselves tbh. (Nausea, tiredness and really sore boobs! Plus no AF)

@Longbin I've been feeling really nauseous, most meat related things are setting me off. I was like this with my twins, and it's been like this for a week now. Hopefully it settles down soon.

@tulipsunday hoping you are managing to rest!🙈

tulipsunday · 26/07/2022 17:36

Ah all sounding generally good ladies 😊 odd moment of nausea here and there but not really kicked in. Mainly tiredness, tender boobs and sore back.

Were your symptoms really strong with your twins @36and4th? MY mum is a non-identical twin so I am always wondering if I will have them!

36and4th · 26/07/2022 17:42

@tulipsunday they were. I had morning sickness from week 4 til 20 and then it came back about 26 weeks. Fraternal twins are genetic I think, so there could be a chance! They run in my family too. Although they skip a generation. I'm not hoping for twins this time lol

I caved and booked an appointment in a couple of weeks.. the anxiety is getting stupid now haha

tulipsunday · 26/07/2022 18:14

Ah wow quite full on symptoms wise then. Yes I can imagine the idea of another set being daunting haha imagine is quite rare?

36and4th · 26/07/2022 19:42

I think it's like a 1 in 12 chance!

36and4th · 26/07/2022 21:33

Can I ask everyone what they do for work? And do you know what you would want to do when babies are here? I know it's a long way off.. but looking at all the options for us.

limoncelloo · 26/07/2022 22:14

@36and4th I'm frontline emergency services... I've already had to inform work due to the nature of the job and I'll be restricted/desk bound for the foreseeable 🙃

I'm planning on taking my full entitlement for maternity leave and then I'll likely return part-time for a while and work my way back up to full-time.

Have you got any idea what you'll do? X

36and4th · 26/07/2022 22:23

@limoncelloo oh that's got to be tough :( My husband works as a CCA for NEAS and if he got told to do a desk job he would hate it :( But it's putting both you and baby in a safe place :)

That sounds like a solid plan!

I'm a staff nurse, but work only on the bank because of childcare costs. I've not told anyone at work yet (don't really have a permanent manager to talk to). Not entirely sure what I'm entitled too. I'm still working for the same trust but obviously now on a zero hour contract. So probably entitled to diddly squat lol. Planning on trying to save and pay off some bills so it isn't such a big drain. I'm hoping to have at least 4 months at home before going back at least on a part time basis. The girls will be entitled to their 30 free hours next September.. so maybe have to make that 5 months 🙈

JA42 · 27/07/2022 05:01

Hi All, please can I join?

just found out I’m pregnant with my third at 42!
was just preparing to start IVF, so I’m still in shock at the moment.
