Hi all

Thought I'd start a new thread. Just got my BFP. Had a MC in May so tentatively optimistic. Looks like my due date is April 1st. Would be good to get to know others in the same boat x

@hotelp I'm really anxious in pregnancy and even more so since an early miscarriage. I know scans can't change anything but they can help me prepare I guess. I really don't want to end up going to a 12 week scan and finding out the baby died at 6 or 7 weeks, so if I have a scan at 8/9 weeks at least I'll know if I made it that far or not. Then if it's bad news I can get medical management and ttc sooner, since I'm not getting any younger.

@Skylark1990 everything crossed for you! Please updated us ❤️❤️

@J1290 Think I'm going to talk to my partner tonight and see if he's up for it. Yes I'm really paranoid because of the bleeding.

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 09:18

@hotelp on the early scans - I didn't with DD, my first pregnancy. Only reason I am this time is due to previous loss. The epau with the NHS is giving me them -7 and 10 weeks, and I'm here now too to check placement at 5 weeks but that wasn't planned, I've just been freaking out due to right side pain.

I've actually read a few things which suggest it's best to avoid multiple scans if we can in first trimester. There's no clear evidence to say they cause any harm per se but there have been studies on animals to show they heat up the cells slightly and ultrasound is also used to break down tissue so there are some fears around long term affects on child development when exposed to ultrasound. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, and as I've just said above I'm still going with the early scans due to my history, but I think it's good to be aware of various bits of research, but ofc not all research created equal, and so so many people have loads of scans and there's no real evidence they can be risky so yeah just need to go with what feels right... It's tricky tho, so much worry on pregnancy whatever which way we go!!

ancienthouse · 12/08/2022 09:43

@Skylark1990 I hope your scan goes well today.
I've been having sharp pains in my left side, from ovary to stomach to back. But they're much less today, more of a niggle. If they get unbearable I'll go get it checked but for now I'm kind of half pretending I'm not pregnant so I don't have to think about it!

Chocolat · 12/08/2022 10:04

@Skylark1990 good luck with the scan today, fingers crossed for you 🤞🏽 x

Just had the scan. Saw a yolk and gestational sack but no heartbeat yet as too early apparently. But it's in the right place! Phew.

xttcbabyno1x · 12/08/2022 10:41

@Skylark1990 oh my gosh I'm so so relieved for you!! Wow I bet that's put your mind at rest and you've actually put mine at rest too as I've had some random twitches on my right too xxxx I'm so happy for you xxx

Ohhh phew! What a relief! Hope you’re feeling better xx

ancienthouse · 12/08/2022 11:30

@Skylark1990 that's great! Are you going to have another scan once a heartbeat is able to be heard?

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 11:31

Thank you both 🫶😘 @Wouldloveanother @xttcbabyno1x yes so relieved! Would have been nice to see the embryo and heartbeat but they said it's just too early and actually they're really happy with what we did see 🥰 going back on 25th now not 22nd to give it a bit more time, so I'll be 7+1. Hope to see a little bean with heartbeat then!! X

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 11:31

@ancienthouse thank you! Yes going back when I'm 7 weeks 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Amazing @Skylark1990!

Everything I've read says about constipation being common at this stage but I have the opposite and have had since I found out I was pregnant! Anyone else?

Sunnyxo · 12/08/2022 11:45

Great news @Skylark1990! 😊

Yes I have the opposite too!!

Orangesaretheonly · 12/08/2022 11:51

I've just sent an online message to my gp so I'll see what they say and arrange an appt. My last gp the receptionist was so rude when I called to tell them I was pregnant I got really upset.
Have been having some brown spotting the last few days and today there was more red in it- only a small bit but it's got me worried.

ActualMermaid · 12/08/2022 11:58

@Skylark1990 Amazing news! Hope you can breathe a bit easier now. Smile

xttcbabyno1x · 12/08/2022 12:05

@CinderellaFant ooh yeah, well I'm struggling in the sense I'm gassy, need a poo and then can't go , but when I do go it's not solid if that makes sense (sorry TMI) I went this morning for the first time in 2 days !!! Xx

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 12:07

Thank you all 🥰🤞🥰🤞

@CinderellaFant I have oscillated between the runs and slightly constipated haha. Mostly on the runny side!

NiceToChat88 · 12/08/2022 12:23

I'm 5 weeks now and looking to get a scan booked in - would you all recommend 6 weeks or hold out until after 8 to try and see more??

Orangesaretheonly · 12/08/2022 12:29

I've been for about five wees in the last half an hour and every time I wipe there is pinkish blood. Bit like discharge but pinky/red. I'm really worried. Don't really know what to do. Not feeling very hopeful 😔
