@AbiGoLucky @Beth262 is right, it's a bit uncomfortable I had 3, 2 by students and the third by the midwife who was busy telling me she is known for her big hands and being clumsy 🤣 no worse than a smear or having a coil fitted for me - but everyone is different. Made no difference for me, I was still induced but I was having them at 38 weeks and tbh I think baby was very comfy and would have stayed put and happily have come in her own time!

Beth262 · 25/08/2022 18:51

@PopGoesBang how are you getting on with the sling?

OP posts:
PopGoesBang · 25/08/2022 19:02

@Beth262 loving it! Dd loves it too - been a bit of a life saver today she's wanted to be on me all day so at least I've been able to get things done while keeping her happy. I can't believe I'd over looked the need for hands free while she's small!!
Now considering selling the one I have and getting the same as I've hired, as this one lasts - as the name rightly says it grows with them. Definitely think I have to sell before I buy dp might say something otherwise... Altho they do this version in the same pattern as the one we have... and I'm not sure he pays that's much attention 🤣

How's everything with you?

AbiGoLucky · 25/08/2022 20:05

@Beth262 @PopGoesBang Ah thanks, I did wonder if it would just be similar to a smear. Hopefully they will be able to reach it then 🤞 will let you know how it all goes!
Thanks!

Not many babies left to go!

Does anyone still suffering pain from c section have any recs or tips for baby wearing? I can carry him pressed against my shoulder easily enough, but when put in the across body sling I have, I soon get sharp pains in the side of my c section scar. Three weeks out from section so mostly pain free, but this seems to be one of the things that makes the pain flare up again with a vengence.

PopGoesBang · 25/08/2022 20:54

@ToCaden no help from me, but, we have a local sling library with a lovely lady who has loads of experience - might be worth googling to see if you have someone similar - I know this lady is on Facebook and I'm sure would happily answer a question if you can't find anyone else. Exeter Sling Library should bring her up if you want to pick her brains.

Hope you get some answers and can enjoy baby wearing pain free soon.

Beth262 · 25/08/2022 21:17

Ahh glad it's working for you @PopGoesBang 🙂 Think I'll have to dust off my wrap one for next week as DS1 is dropping to one day creche a week. Today I've been able to lay with baby across my chest while I just catch up on some Netflix but no hope next week!!
We're getting on OK here though thank you. Have an assessment on Tuesday for his tongue tie and still waiting on the referral for peads and plastics about the missing skin on his scalp. It's healed over and just a scar there now so I'm hopeful it's something he'll just live with rather than going through the stress of a potential graft. It's only 1.5cm wide so not major. Then we have a different HV coming Wednesday to show us first aid. Seems its just appointment after appointment at the moment! I just want to be left in my bubble with my boys!

PopGoesBang · 25/08/2022 21:24

@Beth262 I'm glad things are going well. And that his scalp seems to have healed well. You'd figure if it's healing there would be no need for anything else. Fingers crossed on that and for the tongue tie, does it seem to bother him?
You'll be glad of the wrap, it's just that ability of using both hands isn't it. I mean we become amazing at doing things one handed but so much easier when both are free.

I'd imagine the first aid will be quite interesting. I was very grateful for the first aid imd done previously with dd1, she was very poorly at 4 weeks old and the first aid came in handy. Although can understand another appt is a lot - is your ds1 at home that day too? How does he do with the appts? How's he adjusting to being a big brother?

madeleine85 · 25/08/2022 21:28

@ToCaden i'm not in pain, but I wore the belly band for the first few days, and then swapped to my normal workout leggings which have a compression top to help support the incision healing, and it feels like it works similarly to the belt. I wonder if a little support would help keep away the pain? I do find though that my pain kicks up a notch the day after I do something thats too much. Hope yours isn't too bad. I stopped painkillers around day 7-10 post op as I'd rather feel sore and know i'm doing too much, but to each their own!

Beth262 · 25/08/2022 21:55

@PopGoesBang I'm not sure how much the tongue tie is bothering him to be honest. With DS1 I only expressed (as he was a nicu baby) but I'm breastfeeding this time around and he dribbles a lot and coughs and splutters too and I'm not sure if that's normal or the tonguetie is affectinghis feeding and latching? One thing it isn't affecting though is his ability to gain weight so some milk is clearly getting through!

I can't imagine how grateful you felt for the first aid training with your DD falling ill so young. How scary. We did have it before DS1 left NIcu but I don't remember any of it. I don't think I actually took it in due to the circumstances so the refresh will be good 🙈 Thankfully DS1 will be in crèche that day! He already pretends to be a doctor with his little bag checking his brothers temperature and listening to his heart so the first aid lady would have her work cut out if he was home 😂 He's adapted really well to being a brother though. Much better than I thought he would be given he's such a mummy's boy...

How about your DD? obviously being older she's far more understanding of the situation but still a big change for her. And the dog too 😂

OP posts:
PopGoesBang · 25/08/2022 22:09

@Beth262 sounds like you and Ds are doing a great job with the feeding. He's clearly getting a good supply and gaining weight - dd has moments of spluttering and coughing - I think sometimes it's when the milk is too fast or when she isn't fully latched because she's in that half arsed part where she's full but wants to suck for comfort. Whatever the case you're doing amazing and I'm glad it doesn't seem to be overly bothering your ds.

I now feel your ds1 is missing out on the first aid, clearly he'd give the first aider a run for her money!
Never a bad thing to have a refresher in these skills. I know before dd1 was allowed home after being ill we had to do a mini crash course on some elements of first aid - I had a comment about being very distant during it. I had to let them know that as helpful as it was, less than a week ago I had to use the skills and that gave it all a very different feel. Didn't mean i wasn't paying attention tho.
Being a parent is full of scares and worries isn't it. It's amazing the things you just deal with.

Oh the dog, he's struggling 🤣 he got a right sulk on today as when I took him and dd2 for his walk, she was in the pram and he hates that because he has to walk nicely. For 5 minutes. Then he comes off the lead for the majority of his walk but those 5 minutes were clearly the worst.
Dd1 is doing good, you can see she finds it tricky sometimes but I think she's taking it all pretty well.
Last week of the school holidays next week. So we're off to another local places with rides and such for her and a few other bits and then the routine will revolve around school runs. Quite enjoyed not having to rush in the mornings. Although looking forward to being able to have a few days where I sit in the sofa and find something on Netflix and we spend the day planted there - any viewing recommendations?

mamaof2girls · 26/08/2022 02:52

Thank you everyone @PopGoesBang aww his sisters are loving him a little to much 🙈 with only being 3 and 2 they want to help with everything but can also he a little handsy at times and obv not understand but yeah they always want to be touching and playing with him etc. but he's doing good. Finding he's still abit chocked with mucas though and decides night time is the best time to bring it all up. But they said cause he was born fast he would be! X

PopGoesBang · 26/08/2022 11:57

@mamaof2girls sounds just how they should be at their ages! They'll soon catch on to the best things they can do and enjoy with him. Hope the mucous shifts soon, night time is always best for such things, if there's a way to keep you awake these small humans find it. But of course we wouldn't change a thing!

mamaof2girls · 26/08/2022 14:45

Did anyone find the back pain after birth the worse can't remember it ever being this sore 🙈 x

madeleine85 · 26/08/2022 14:50

@mamaof2girls the back pain after my first labour was horrid. I spent 2 days in the hospital and all I wanted was to get up and walk/stretch as it was so bad and I couldn’t. I now think it was related to the post labour contractions. I think my sore back lasted 2-3 days last time. Hoping yours stops soon

AbiGoLucky · 26/08/2022 16:33

Wanted to thank you for the advice on the sweep and what to expect - it really was just like a rough smear! The midwife said I was 1cm dilated already and it was an easy sweep, so fingers crossed it won't be too long before I get to meet little one now 🤞

Beth262 · 26/08/2022 17:16

@PopGoesBang sounds like you have a lovely last week of the holidays planned with DD1 🙂
Now you've asked for Netflix recommendations I've realised what I've been watching recently is on Prime 🙈 but I have been watching 'the bold type' on Netflix too. Not sure if you've already seen it or if it's your thing but it's much like the devil wears Prada but in series form. I'm also late to the whole 'lucifer' party, but working my way through that each night with DP too. What kind of stuff do you usually watch?

@AbiGoLucky everything crossed it jigs little one along and that you're back this time tomorrow telling us bubba is here 🙂

OP posts:
PopGoesBang · 26/08/2022 17:49

@Beth262 oddly I started Lucifer when I stopped work - so also watching that, minus Dp so I can watch something daytime (once dd is back at school 🤣) have heard bold type is good so might give that a go too. I like a mixed back of things really - anything scary or too violent I have to watch with Dp cos I'm a whimp 🤣
I shall have a look on prime too, I forget we have that option for tv as well.

@mamaof2girls still suffering with back ache and I'll be 4 weeks post birth on Monday. Definitely not back ache after dd1.

@AbiGoLucky fingers crossed you aren't waiting too much longer!

mamaof2girls · 26/08/2022 19:08

Did anyone else have to do the 10 days off injections yourself at home? X

Cakecakecheese · 26/08/2022 20:12

@mamaof2girls clexane? Yes I had to have those for 10 days. I'd had them before during my IVF and my partner did them for me.

Isonthecase · 26/08/2022 22:16

@mamaof2girls I had horrendous backpain after my first for a while, it was the epidural site. Still find it can get a bit sore there occasionally. Have you had an epidural at all?

ToCaden · 27/08/2022 16:21

@mamaof2girls I had to do the rest of the course of blood thinners at home after discharge if those are the ones you mean. They sting! Glad to be done with them.

PopGoesBang · 27/08/2022 17:07

@mamaof2girls I'm on Fragmin injections, have been since 28 weeks and have another 2 weeks to go.
Thighs have had all rainbows of bruises on - counting down until I don't have to think about them.

mamaof2girls · 27/08/2022 17:25

Yeah I think it's the blood thinners. Yeah they really do sting after it and I have sore legs wasn't sure if that was the cause off it as never had them before with the others! X

mamaof2girls · 27/08/2022 20:47

@Isonthecase I didn't get a epidural this time I did with my first but not with my second or 3rd? X
