@Flowerbug1994 pinch the skin when injecting, let go when needle comes out and do not rub no matter the sting. I don’t have a bruise yet doing it that way. :) may help if you haven’t already tried!

Flowerbug1994 · 18/06/2022 13:14

@Vimto1991 will try this cause I’ve still got 4 weeks to go and I don’t have much stomach space left for these bruises.

Vimto1991 · 18/06/2022 13:18

@Flowerbug1994 horrible isn’t it 😣 my dad was like that when he had them. It takes all my might not to rub them after and I pinch the skin and let DH inject as I’m a wuss. I can’t even watch the needle 😭
the idea of having just over 4 weeks myself freaks me out as I know I have to have them, but the paaaain! I also worry about coming off them. Seems very cold turkey to just come off without easing, I worry my blood would thicken and clot naturally. 😣

Congratulations on new arrivals🥰little gorgeous babies☺️

Our little one has not popped for 3 full days and today is the 4th day😢I am beyond worried. She is eating well (bf and then around 70ml, if still hungry), sleeping well, no hard tummy or any other symptom. Passes a lot of wind and does quite a lot wet nappies. She did poo a lot in the 1st 3 days and then suddenly stopped. She is on combined feeding (bf+formula). I am not sure whether it's the formula (aptamil) that doesn't sit well with her or something else. I am doing tummy massage and leg exercises everyday to help her go, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I gave her cooled boiled water 30ml yesterday to see if it helps, her tummy was rumbling a lot but nothing happened.
I have called 111 and currently waiting for gp to call back. Not sure what to do😕So so worried and can't really enjoy this amazing time with her as this problem makes me think that I am doing something wrong and now she can't poop😢any tips please?

Vimto1991 · 18/06/2022 16:43

@Bango2019 formula don’t poop as much as bf, so makes it hard for combi to know how much they should poop. Our LO had one yesterday but had like four the day before, so very hard to predict. Hopefully you get an answer soon to settle your mind. You could also try infacol. Does it seem like they are distressed and trying to pass poop?

Flowerbug1994 · 18/06/2022 16:48

@Bango2019 my baby is still pooing but went from about 8 poo’s a day (each feed) to 1-3 times a day (formula fed) and I panicked but I have seen a few threads of pooing troubles with combination fed babies but I believe as-long as tummy soft and not in discomfort visually they are ok. Let us know what GP says as it will be good to know.

Congratulations @Rolledthedice! She is gorgeous Flowers

PlodandPod · 19/06/2022 00:18

Congratulations @Rolledthedice she is beautiful!

MrsTwentyNine · 19/06/2022 01:22

Thank you all that replied re:nappies! So I think our solution is "bigger" nappy! Even though my boy isn't 4kg yet, it seems to prevent the leakage up the back with the bigger size

Does anyone have tips on increasing breast milk supply by the way ? 2 weeks of barely any breastfeeding and predominantly formulas ...now I'm struggling to express much 😰 how often do I express ?!

fpeg · 19/06/2022 04:51

@Rolledthedice beautiful name for a beautiful little girl, congratulations 💕

Lostintranslatio · 19/06/2022 06:40

@MrsTwentyNine your baby needs to estimulate the breast as much as possible, especially in the nights (these feeds are the ones that ensure and maintain the milk supply). My friend also tried power pumping but she ended up pretty tired of it.

Big day here ladies and I have nixed feelings. Can't wait to meet my girl but I'm sooo terrified of everything right now. I wish I could fast forward a few days 😁

Prema112 · 19/06/2022 07:29

@Rolledthedice congratulations!!!

sunflower198 · 19/06/2022 09:00

For people bottle feeding - how long is baby taking to finish a bottle?
We seem to suddenly be taking a lot longer (up to an hour) for each bottle so thinking I need to look at different teats!?
I can't remember having this problem with my first 🤷🏻‍♀️

hellointhere · 19/06/2022 11:27

Wow congratulations to all who have had their baby! I'm 39 weeks today, starting to feel ready for it now.

Flowerbug1994 · 19/06/2022 12:32

@sunflower198 currently taking about an hour to feed, wind, change and settle. My baby is taking in a lot of air I can here it when he’s drinking an wondering about change of test also

No, thankfully, she doesn't seem to be in any discomfort or distress atm. So, presumably, it's not bothering her that much, but does worry me a bid deal.

@Flowerbug1994 Tbh, GP wasn't that helpful, just said to up liquid intake and keep with massage and exercise. And IF she will be in distress call them back and they will intervene by give her laxative. So, we have to wait and see how it goes, as apparently giving her medication or laxative is not really ideal in her age.

Currently, anxiously waiting for a poo to come😥it's day 5 today...

Anyone here have a baby with a haemangioma? I called the midwife this morning as LO has a lump on her leg and a red mark and got told to go to a&e where they said it was the above, and may come out the surface as a strawberry birthmark. Just wondering if anyone has had experience of this? I’ve just read to be a bit careful around it if it does come out and use Vaseline. Hope she’s never teased about it. 😩 I was in such a panic this morning about finding the lump. 😭

huge congrats @Rolledthedice love the name!! Enjoy every moment 🥰

sunflower198 · 19/06/2022 15:35

@Flowerbug1994 has it always taken around that amount of time? We used to be 30mins max so it seems like it's slowed down a lot.
I've just ordered some vari-flow teats as I read they may help - will let you know if they do!

Flowerbug1994 · 19/06/2022 16:00

@sunflower198 first few days was really quick with feeding and winding then the winding slowed down and has gotten longer as he has progressed with oz’s he’s drinking 4oz now he drinks 2 I wind then the other 2 as before he was just gulping then 2oz bottles straight down. Think am going to try Bari glow tests I have some already. Will be interested to see how you find them I love that we can report back on what’s working for us on this thread.

Yecats22 · 19/06/2022 16:32

@Vimto1991 My nephew has a strawberry birthmark on his arm.. the health visitor has told my sister it will most likely disappear by the time he is 3 on its own. We have all grown to love his and hope it doesn’t go as it’s just part of who he is now.

Vimto1991 · 19/06/2022 16:34

@Yecats22 that’s so sweet that it just became a part of who he is. 🥰 has he ever had any issues with it bleeding, etc?

Yecats22 · 19/06/2022 17:27

No bleeding at all, his appeared around a few days old and it’s just about the size of 20p piece. He is pretty wild and never had any concerns and it doesn’t bother him at all

laurenGame · 19/06/2022 18:17

@Bango2019 has she had a poo yet? I can imagine the stress for you 😮‍💨 I struggle with constipation during pregnancy and if I don't go for 3 days I start to worry ... if so annoying

@Rolledthedice what a gorgeous baby. Congratulations 🥳!!!! Any advice on how to have a calm labour haha? I feel like I'll just panic!

@Lostintranslatio good luck, I bet I'll be terrified too, try to trust your body, medicine, your midwife 💜 let us know how you go xx
