Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@Tasha4eva10 that's great news! Glad everything is okay 😊😊

RSmamaa · 07/06/2022 17:13

@Jaaxe I had abnormal antibodies in my last pregnancy and they said all it means is if you need a blood transfusion at birth they have to match it more specificaly x

LolaJ87 · 08/06/2022 09:17

Good morning! Hope everyone is doing ok.

I'm 14 weeks today and definitely showing now! I didn't expect to be showing so early since I'm plus size. I think at the moment it just looks like a beer belly rather than a bump though - hope it becomes more obvious soon!

Hi. Was on the thread a while ago, then had a weird access issue. Now back with a new username.

We had our 12w scan end of May and am 14 weeks tomorrow. However got a call from fetal medicine specialist team yesterday who confirmed my Down's Syndrome risk is 1 in 2. This is a huge shock to me. I am not young (37), but it just wasn't a phone call we were expecting. The NT measurement was normal, but my blood betaHCG is 6.5 times higher than it should be. And my Paap-A was just lower than normal range.

Have now opted for a CVS which is happening Thursday. Until we get results (mid next week) will be in horrible limbo land. And then most likely have a new set of things to decide following that result.

Feeling stupid for telling people that all was OK two weeks ago. Feel stupid for buying maternity clothes (even though i've needed them as I have a bump). Feel shitty generally.

That sounds really stressful. I'm the exact same dates as you, 14 weeks today. Still waiting for my results after scan and blood tests a couple of weeks ago and I'm so nervous and fed up of waiting. 😉

I hope your CVS goes OK and the results come through quickly.

Amphibian94 · 08/06/2022 09:51

Morning all. How is everyone? Any more scans coming up?

I've woken up today with an awful sore throat and headache! Not sure if it's flu or cold or throat infection? So annoying and can't help but worry about baby!

Tofu35 · 08/06/2022 09:51

@bbnotwo we'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hope the wait for the results doesn't feel too long.

Quick question about sleeping positions. I read that while sleeping on your side is preferred later on in pregnancy, you can still sleep on your stomach in early pregnancy. Is this true? Hoping so since I seem to wake up every day like that! Might need one of those pregnancy pillows soon...

LolaJ87 · 08/06/2022 09:54

@Tofu35 apparently you can sleep on your stomach for as long as it's comfortable! It' the third trimester that's the important one for side sleeping.

Annoyingly I've always been a side sleeper but I'm getting a lot more uncomfortable and wake every time I turn...

Phoenixwings1989 · 08/06/2022 10:31

Well I woke up to bleeding again this morning and not going for a scan until next Monday. I was in pain with cramps all night, didn't feel the need to take any pain relief despite this though. Can't ring EPU as last time I had a scan they said they needed to wait to wait until bub is bigger as they couldn't do an internal scan due to my medical traum and they struggled picking anything up abdominally 😪

F03t · 08/06/2022 10:57

Hi everyone - checking in as just found thread 3. I'm 14+4 today and definitely have a bump (even those closest to me agree its there!) Finding it very hard to dress as nothing fits but haven't got maternity clothes yet.

Also - looking at babymoon's and we aren't free to travel until 30/31 weeks - thinking Croatia. Any advice on if this is a bad idea, will I be too waddle-y to enjoy?

LolaJ87 · 08/06/2022 11:35

@Phoenixwings1989 how far along are you? I think you should go to the EPU anyway, they might be able to pick something up if you're further along than last time. I've had a few episodes of bleeding as well but they told me if there was pain to come in.

@F03t I personally wouldn't be comfortable travelling past 28 weeks but I'm a paranoid sort! It probably depends on how you're coping and how fit and active you are? Where are you thinking of specifically? I know Dubrovnik is very hilly.

Nutella99 · 08/06/2022 11:45

I've just had a massive cry (thanks hormones) because I'm 14 weeks and all the pregnancy websites say things like "Congratulations! You got through the first trimester! You should be feeling better and full of energy now" but I'm really not. I've got constant tummy pain, just heavy, sore, uncomfortable feeling (uterus moving? Wind? Who knows), no energy, more tired than ever and going to bed earlier and earlier etc. Also worried about scan/blood test results that I'm still waiting for. The idea of another 6 months of pregnancy and feeling this crap just seems like a loooong long time.

AG96 · 08/06/2022 11:51

@Nutella99 I totally understand how you feel. If anything I've been feeling worse, more sick and tired since 13 weeks 😔 could be because I had covid and I'm still recovering but definitely not enjoying the second trimester "glow" yet! Hope things pick up for you soon

Phoenixwings1989 · 08/06/2022 13:20

@LolaJ87 I would but the woman who saw me last week said to not ring the unit unless pain was unbearable and pain relief wasn't working. Not sure how far along I am as I had calculated 9 weeks but last week's scan showed bub was measuring 5 🤷

Jaaxe · 08/06/2022 13:24

@Phoenixwings1989 have they done your bloods? I would also ring epu. At 9 weeks they can do abdominal ultrasound if u can’t have a vaginal one

PinkFizz1 · 08/06/2022 13:32

@Nutella99 I could've written this myself! I was 14 weeks yesterday and when reading all the new updates on the apps telling me I should be feeling less tired/more energetic etc etc, I was just like - nope, nope, nope, nope....!

Actually got a bit upset about it like you, it made me feel a bit like I should be jumping around feeling a million times better with loads of energy, when in reality I still feel as tired, unmotivated, riddled with pregnancy acne etc as I did in the first trimester. Just heavier now!!

Phoenixwings1989 · 08/06/2022 13:38

No they've not done my bloods yet. As the scan showed I was only measuring five weeks last week they have said to give it another two weeks when baby grows a bit more. They couldn't see much last time.

Nutella99 · 08/06/2022 13:56

@PinkFizz1 Omg the acne is the worst! My forehead in particular is such a mess.

Mommabear20 · 08/06/2022 14:10

@Nutella99 @PinkFizz1 oh I'm glad it's not just me!!! I'm more tired than ever! I had a week were I thought my nausea was getting better, then I passed out and threw up on Monday morning 🤷‍♀️

Been planning DC birthday party which is giving me something to focus on and look forward too that's not baby related.

LolaJ87 · 08/06/2022 14:32

@Nutella99 @Mommabear20 @PinkFizz1 make that another one! 14 weeks today and while the nausea has dissipated over the last couple of weeks, I have frequent headaches, I'm exhausted, have near constant brain fog and for the last 2 days, diarrhea. I fell asleep on my lunch break today. My skin has gone itchy, dry and flaky.

Where is the energy boost I was promised??

lifechanginglemoncake · 08/06/2022 14:34

Wow - can I join the 14 weeks today and still exhausted crew too??
I'm completely exhausted, still get nauseous when I'm hungry and have terrible mood swings. Tell me again how the second trimester is full of energy and glow!

Tofu35 · 08/06/2022 14:39

@PinkFizz1 no pregnancy acne but I do seem to be cultivating a pregnancy beard. Pre-pregnancy I'd maybe have one or two tweezable hairs on my chin. It's now like 20-30 (all under my chin-luckily). Tweezers working overtime!

RhiRhi1996 · 08/06/2022 14:52

Not to rub it in but I am 11.5 weeks and feeling better 😆not perfect by any means , but less tired, less sickness etc etc ! I had a scan at 11 weeks too to make sure everything was still kicking along as normal, not actually due to the lessening of pregnancy symptoms but because i can only seem to go a couple weeks between scans without starting to worry I've had a MMC 😅

I hope you ladies start to feel a bit better soon! 💕

LolaJ87 · 08/06/2022 14:59

@Tofu35 I can't remember if you know/want to know what you're having? It's just that my mam thinks I'm having a boy because I've grown some peach fuzz too 🙈

Tofu35 · 08/06/2022 15:05

@LolaJ87 no clue, our first scan wasn't clear because of baby acrobatics so going back for another scan later this month! I would love if peach fuzz meant a boy, much more reliable than bump shape. Soon as the nausea stops I'll be going to a beautician and getting it waxed.

PinkFizz1 · 08/06/2022 15:10

Wow, it’s good (is that the right word?!) to know lots of us are feeling the same in the 2nd trimester! Makes me feel a bit less guilty for not doing laps around the block 🤣

@LolaJ87 Yes to the itchy skin! What is that?! I thought I felt it the other evening and last night/early hours this morning I felt like my whole body was crawling with spiders?!
