Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@Orcarain I'm the same! I sized up and bought a pair of elasticated trousers from m&s and two baggy t-shirts. I know that once the bump gets bigger, I'll need the maternity stuff but at least I'll be comfy for the next few weeks while I wait for that stage!

@Altima it sounds like this is really worrying you, I'm sorry it's causing distress. I've not heard of this as a side effect of covid, but if you're concerned about how your breasts feel (and if it's normal during pregnancy), you should give your midwife team a call.

AG96 · 01/07/2022 08:52

Hi all, I had the weirdest feeling last night and as a first time mum hoping one of you will be able to tell me if normal or should ring midwife. I laid in bed last night and my stomach started bouncing and felt like I was having rhythmic "kicks" in the top left of my stomach. Obviously not baby as he is still so small and low down and wouldn't be kicking so much I see it moving on the outside or feel it that strong. We did asap googling and DP said he could have been laid on my artery so I laid on my side but it continued. DP also said it could be hiccups but it was so strong that I can't imagine a 17 week baby could hiccup that strong. What do you think?

@Mommabear20 I have a list of girls names a mile long, then maybe two boys names, neither of which I’m keen on. Boys names are all awful! Mind you, hormones have made me put things like Tuppence and December on my girls list… Hmm

@Altima My boobs are sometimes going rock solid, sometimes not. On occasion they look like my milk has come in! From around now they’ll be gearing up to produce colostrum so it’s not unusual if they fluctuate and swell while they figure out what’s going on in there.

@AG96 I’d ring your midwife for reassurance. Could it have been gas? Gets everywhere!

Is anyone else suffering potential perinatal depression and anxiety? Not “knicker watch” anxiety but free-floating, worried-in-your-own skin, “sense of doom” type thing? I’ve been feeling blue and flat for a while but the last couple of days I’ve had tremendously bad insomnia - awake from 2am then up at 6am with DD - and exhausted. Came home from a nursery trip and spent the evening sobbing that I was a terrible mother, everyone hates me, DD has no friends and I’m failing her (not true), I should be doing more play dates/socialising/lessons/etc etc. Obviously going to tell my midwife and I’m already on the Batshit Pathway but feeling very isolated by being so nuts Sad

Mommabear20 · 01/07/2022 10:10

@AG96 I've never had that specifically before, but was told by my midwife, if you get things like that, if it's not obvious pain, try changing position and see if that helps. Like you say, baby could have been laid in something, or with your organs all being moved around, something else could have been compressing something.

AG96 · 01/07/2022 10:41

@stuntbubbles @Mommabear20 thank you. Been trying to call my midwife for like 2 hours. Been in agony with my nipple pain. Can't even describe how much it hurts. My nipple feels like it's dying, it goes from white with no blood in it, to purple with too much blood. I'd give it an 8/10 on the pain scale. Taken paracetamol and had a bath and still in agony. Tried pregnancy assessment unit out of desperation but they don't see people before 20 weeks. No luck with GP. Just feel like something is wrong

@AG96 Poor you, that sounds horrific. Can you give 111 a try instead? Midwives are often hard to get hold of as they can be out in the community or attending births, the service is so stretched. Leave a voicemail with the midwives and call NHS direct. Hope it’s nothing and you get to the bottom of it.

AG96 · 01/07/2022 11:23

@stuntbubbles I'm calling my midwife base, don't have a number for my actual midwife herself. It's just line busy and can't leave a voicemail 😔 nipple pain has stopped. Can't tell if I'm cramping or he's moving. I'm just going to chill and calm down and hopefully everything will be okay

I’ve just had my NHS screening results back - had 1/6648 for downs and 1/10,000 for Edwards/Patau, but we also did NIPT/Harmony screening privately a few weeks earlier and got 1/12,000 for both - seems odd to be that the downs risk is twice as much on two different tests! Has anyone else had similar variances between results?

DogsAndGin · 01/07/2022 17:08

Hi girls.

I thought my appointment in 3 weeks was my scan, but it turns out to have been booked with a consultant to discuss having an ELCS. So relieved that the ‘ball is rolling’. Maybe she’ll even book me in!

Nubologists gave us 93% chance of a girl - I’ll let you all know if they are correct in a few weeks at my scan 🤞🏻

@CP22 congrats on your boy! How exciting!

@chardaboo I love love love the name Zoe! So pretty. We’re sticking with Clementine so far - and I feel it’s a bit Christmassy too! @Mommabear20

@Orcarain yes I am finding the exact same thing. I wore a waist belt above bump to help make the maternity clothes fit. I am down to just a couple of dresses now and no trousers or jeans at all that fit 🙈

@Altima I’m sorry to hear you’re unwell and wishing you a speedy recovery

@AG96 sorry you’ve had that strange experience. Have you managed to get through to your midwife or GP yet?

@MrsWindrush Super! They’re great odds either way - what a relief 😊

TGIF! Happy weekend everyone

tasha4eva10 · 01/07/2022 17:16

Guys if you're looking for cheaper maternity clothes get on shein! I have just put my second order in and the quality is fab. I was trying to find a cheaper alternative to the likes of next etc with needing to shop for all seasons and shein hasn't disappointed. I have just brought one size up and they fit with enough stretch to last.

HayleyBean · 01/07/2022 18:15

Hey everyone! I had my 16 week appointment today and heard the heartbeat! As the midwife put the doppler on there was a thud and she said that it was baby kicking. Nice to hear as I've not felt anything yet! Is anyone feeling much?

Orcarain · 01/07/2022 18:18

So happy to see I’m not alone re maternity clothes haha.

I’ve had the day off today and have felt such despair that I’ve boxed up everything that doesn’t fit! Cannot bear to look at it just now…

Laughingmole · 01/07/2022 20:21

My bump today at 17+5 and wearing the maternity dress that I got for £2 off vinted!

Sunshine92 · 01/07/2022 20:49

Hi all, so nice to see lots of bumps 🥰
anyone out there still feeling rough?
I actually felt alright up until week 9 and then started feeling really nauseous and exhausted in the evenings.
now I just feel exhausted all the time, absolutely no energy at all.
my work is being impacted massively and I have a 14 month old and feel so guilty as I have no energy for him…
Please tell me I’m not the only one!

also, can someone link me to the Facebook, think I’m finally ready to join x

lifechanginglemoncake · 01/07/2022 21:34

I'm also keen for the Facebook group. My last request didn't come to anything.

HayleyBean · 01/07/2022 21:34

@Sunshine92 - I feel like I'm going backwards too. I've had one week where I've had energy in the evening and not been sick everyday and then this week I'm back to being in bed most nights by 8pm and puking most mornings. I cannot wait for the pregnancy 'glow' 😂

Sunshine92 · 01/07/2022 21:38

@HayleyBean so glad I’m not the only one! Not glad that you are feeling pants as well though 😩

roll on the ‘glow’ - I had so much energy in my first pregnancy! This one feels like I’ve had the life sucked out of me!

Bluebonnet3 · 02/07/2022 00:18

Ooh, I'm excited I just got two packages in the post of maternity clothes I ordered! (Surely after 10pm is a bit late for a courier delivery?) Anyway, I will try on everything in the morning and return anything I don't like or doesn't fit. I have a package of several dresses on sale from Seraphine (fully expecting some sizes or cuts to be wrong for me) and a package of trousers from h&m (also expecting some to work and others not). I'm really enjoying the stretchy maternity jeans I ordered earlier from m&s. So comfy! (Currently folding down the bump band, which is too big for now, but probably not for long.)

Tofu35 · 02/07/2022 05:58

I thought I'd stopped waking up at 5am, like my normal sleep cycle had returned. But nope, here we are. Been awake an hour and I've given up trying to sleep and just on early bird Mumsnet to have a grumble!

HayleyBean · 02/07/2022 06:52

@Tofu35 - I've been up since 04:30. It's an absolute killer. No reason why either, I had to pee and then I've not been able to sleep again. I've wasted time on Reddit and finished a book

lifechanginglemoncake · 02/07/2022 06:53

Hi @Tofu35 my toddler is on a regular 5.30 wake up schedule so I'm often awake but trying not to be! This morning was a luxurious 6.30!

JC84 · 02/07/2022 07:32

Can I join your waking up early club? I was 3.30 today 😫
Often 5am and I get up at least 3 times during the night to wee too!
Actually doing my own head in as I'm exhausted

MrsCrumbtious · 02/07/2022 08:03

Happy weekend everyone hope you’re all ok. After weeks of my husband being adamant we didn’t need to be ‘splashing out’ on extra scans he cracked and booked us a private scan on Thursday. We found out we are expecting a boy 💙😍🎉 I’m excited and terrified at the same time as my hubby was a bit of a handful growing up 😂🙈
Have no experience of boys as I have no brothers and we have our DD. Any advice or anyone feeling similar? Here’s our little man 😊

@HayleyBean @JC84 late night pee schedule is awful! Doesn't matter how much water I drink, I am always up for at least one pee during the night. Then takes me forever to get back to sleep because I'm thirsty but I don't want to need to pee again.

@lifechanginglemoncake glad they gave you a tiny sleep in today!

@MrsCrumbtious lovely news and beautiful scan!

AG96 · 02/07/2022 11:39

Anyone just can't be arsed with anything?! I just have no get up and go these days. Just couch potato vibes. Feel like I'm just waiting for 24 weeks viability so I can relax a little
