Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

I'm jealous of everyone having there 16 week appointment in person! Mines over the phone annoyingly... not really sure what to expect from it? I guess they just ask how you are getting on lol? Seems a bit odd for a high risk pregnancy.

RhiRhi1996 · 07/06/2022 10:16

@tasha4eva10 I have had a miscarriage , at 5 weeks , and it was a gushing of blood that went very heavy like a heavy period and accompanied by lots of cramping as it progressed.

I'm not an expert, but by my own experience and what I've read, a bit of bleeding can be okay, plenty of women have had bleeding and pregnancies are fine!

So I'd not panic and just wait and see if there is any more bleeding or not.

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 10:20

My 16 week appointments have always been with a consultant at the hospital as I’m high risk due to previous births and they discuss birth options, see the midwife too though and they do the heartbeat and blood pressure, urine etc can’t remember what else as my focus was always on the consultant bit x

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 10:34

Does anyone have any noticeable bump or anything yet? Im only 10 weeks and no bleeding but starting to wonder if Im gna be told I’ve had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan as I don’t even have a low bump or anything, kind of thought I might show earlier with it not being my first x

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 10:35

@tasha4eva10 i think you’d have more bleeding, you could ring your EPU and speak to them, at ours they get u in for a scan to see if all is ok within a couple of days if you have bleeding x

lovesT · 07/06/2022 10:45

@RhiRhi1996 I have badger notes too but my blood test results haven't been uploaded and I had bloods taken at 5 weeks (am now 14+3). They said about it at my scan and said maybe they haven't uploaded them so will have a look but I don't think they did! They did tell me at my 12 week scans that my bloods were fine but ferratin (iron stores) were a bit low so I've got ferratin tablets to take. So I'm sure they'd contact you if needed! It will be good to have it so I'd wait until you next see a midwife and ask about it then if she doesn't reply 😊

RhiRhi1996 · 07/06/2022 11:08

@Jaaxe I noticed today that I am starting to get a bump. Bloating has subsided now and I can see that the lower part of my stomach is still protruding, more than normal and it feels hard and firm and more rounded.

I wouldn't worry about not showing yet , I think it's still really early, so I think it is fine you're not showing yet. Everyone is different!

@lovesT thanks for your response! Yes I guess my results might not even be on there I did read a lot of threads of people complaining it wasn't getting updated. I dont see my midwife again until week 16, my nhs dating scan will be with someone else at week 13 so I don't know if they will be able to tell me. But like u said I'm sure if there was any concerns she would have contacted me sooner. Xx

RSmamaa · 07/06/2022 11:11

@Jaaxe if it's your first baby then no. My bump is so small but it's my second so expected it a lot earlier. With my first I didn't start getting a bump until about 19 weeks so it's completely normal you aren't showing yet!

chardaboo · 07/06/2022 11:17

@Jaaxe I have a small one at 11 weeks and it's my first, its strange as I thought it would be a bit later on it would show. I did lose a stone before falling pregnant so it might be more noticeable to me as I was looking skinnier. (I am a normal weight though I just mean skinnier than I was lol)

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 11:32

Thanks all, maybe it’ll start soon, it’s my 4th baby but I don’t really remember when I started showing with my other 3. Scan 2 weeks today anyway so hopefully all will be ok x

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 11:34

Another question sorry, is anyone else rhesus negative blood type and able to tell me what something to do with antibodies means on my blood results on badger notes? I didn’t want to pester the midwife if it’s nothing x

Mommabear20 · 07/06/2022 11:45

@Jaaxe is it about the anti d injections? I'm rhesus negative so had to have anti d injections in both pregnancies and will in this one too. It basically acts like a barrier between your blood and babies blood, should you get knocked and cause an internal bleed. If baby is same blood type as you then it's no worries, but if baby has dads blood type, then without it, yours and babies blood could have a bad reaction with each other. You'll be offered another anti d injection after birth as well if baby has a different blood type, but they won't know babies blood type till it's born. Hope that makes sense without worrying you. It's more of a precaution than anything

Orcarain · 07/06/2022 12:02

Hi everyone!

Have managed to catch a cold! Which for some reason has brought my morning sickness back with a vengeance. I'm 11+5 and had been feeling normal for the past 2 weeks. Had to reapply my mascara before running out the door this morning. Thank you baby!

Anyone else heard of this? Is it just because I'm run down?

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 12:33

@Mommabear20 thanks for replying yeah so I understand that bit but when I look at my blood results it says blood group and Rhesus factor: A- then it says Antibodies: Other Abnormal Antibodies present: D passive….do you know what this means?

Mommabear20 · 07/06/2022 12:54

@Jaaxe oh sorry! No I don't know what that's about :/

bbnotwo · 07/06/2022 13:11

Hi. Was on the thread a while ago, then had a weird access issue. Now back with a new username.

We had our 12w scan end of May and am 14 weeks tomorrow. However got a call from fetal medicine specialist team yesterday who confirmed my Down's Syndrome risk is 1 in 2. This is a huge shock to me. I am not young (37), but it just wasn't a phone call we were expecting. The NT measurement was normal, but my blood betaHCG is 6.5 times higher than it should be. And my Paap-A was just lower than normal range.

Have now opted for a CVS which is happening Thursday. Until we get results (mid next week) will be in horrible limbo land. And then most likely have a new set of things to decide following that result.

Feeling stupid for telling people that all was OK two weeks ago. Feel stupid for buying maternity clothes (even though i've needed them as I have a bump). Feel shitty generally.

LolaJ87 · 07/06/2022 14:08

@bbnotwo I'm so sorry you're going through this, that call must have been quite a shock. From what I know of the UK process, they would have factored your age into that risk level, which may be skewing the odds upwards?

The wait is the worst part, I hope you get answers very soon.

I'm in a different but equally weird situation - 2 inconclusive NIPTs, fetal fraction barely increased 2 weeks apart, got a call from the consultant to say something might be wrong genetically or with my placenta. So far everything looks perfect on the scan, but it's too early to tell (we are the same dates, I'm currently 13+6) so I've some extra checks ahead myself. I just want you to know that you're not alone. It's hard having all the excitement sucked away and replaced with stress and worry.

If you do get unfortunate news and decide to go ahead with the pregnancy, my sister is an adult with Down Syndrome, so if there's any questions I can help with, please let me know.

Jaaxe · 07/06/2022 14:14

@bbnotwo sorry you are going through this, my friend also got high odds of Down syndrome and had to have further testing which came back the baby didn’t have Down’s syndrome. She has not long given birth and baby perfectly healthy, her age and blood results just made her risk go up. The good news is your NT measurement was normal. Hope everything goes ok on Thursday xx

buzz91 · 07/06/2022 14:23

Hi all! Haven’t caught up for a few days, but query for you as I cannot for the life of me remember what happened last time I was pregnant.

I had my booking appointment a few weeks ago and looks like it’s paper notes still here, but she was going to write them up post-appointment, now I’ve got my scan early next week - will my notes be sent to the hospital / do I not need them / (one I assume is correct) do I need to go to my doctors surgery and collect them?

I phoned the surgery and the receptionist just said she didn’t know and suggested I phone the midwife, but she said at the appointment she’d put her number in the notes so obviously I don’t have it yet!

StarveInn · 07/06/2022 14:44

@buzz91 we’re still paper notes here and the scan technician had my notes when I got to the hospital and then gave me them to take home

buzz91 · 07/06/2022 14:53

@StarveInn great, thanks!

Wanderlust16 · 07/06/2022 14:53

I’m not sure if my badger notes are working properly: I’ve got my consultant appointment on Thursday so I’ll mention it there. My next scan date and consultant appointment are there but I can’t see any of my blood results and it’s still coming up as a pre booking questionnaire even though I’ve had my pre booking appointment and it’s all filled in!

BuchananBaby · 07/06/2022 16:25

@bbnotwo I'm so sorry what a worrying time! Remember your age and Papp-a results will affect your DS results. Sending you love ❤️

I got a call with low Papp-a results so now consultant led and will have growth scans at the end. I'll also be induced before my due date as that's the policy here which is okay with me. Normal results with DD and she was 6lbs3 at 38+5 so it's likely this baby will he smaller which is scary as even now she's only 2nd centile at 15 months.

lovesT · 07/06/2022 16:34

@RhiRhi1996 I don't know if it's the same but I saw different midwives at the scan too and they had all my info on the computer and said they could upload stuff so might be able to help! Hope you get it sorted soon 😊

tasha4eva10 · 07/06/2022 16:42

Just come back from early pregnancy unit after my scare this morning. Thankfully baby is ok and got to see him or her moving around :)

They're definitely grounded giving me this stress though haha
