Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

Amphibian94 · 29/06/2022 06:23

@PinkPinkFizz1 Ooo let us know how the pillow is! I'm thinking to get one soon my back and hips r killing!

Tofu35 · 29/06/2022 08:17

Second trimester question for you! Woke up today with a shooting pain in my right breast, next to my nipple. Presuming this is normal and not anything to worry about, but thought I'd ask here before calling the midwife this afternoon.

Anyone else getting random shooting pain in one/both boobs?

PinkFizz1 · 29/06/2022 09:16

Right, can confirm: first night with the pregnancy pillow and I didn’t get up for a wee once!! (This might just be a fluke though 🥴) I did not move position ALL night and I didn’t even put my earplugs in (which sometimes but very rarely happens if I fall asleep quickly and deeply) and I’ve currently dragged it out the bed and onto the couch 🤣 I think it’s a success 🤣

AG96 · 29/06/2022 10:03

@Tofu35 I have so many boob pains and they have changed so much. I assume the midwife will say it's normal but definitely check. My tits used to look like sisters and now they are 2nd cousin's twice removed 😅 one nipple points up, one down, one tit is round, one is wide. Hope they level out 😅🤣

@PinkFizz1 glad your pillow worked for you! I'm struggling sleeping with mine while it's been warm

Tofu35 · 29/06/2022 10:21

@pinkfizz if there is a magical pillow that stops my nighttime need to pee, I need this in my life!

@AG96 haha! I knew I wouldn't be alone in the weird boob feelings. I'll need to check for the tit family resemblance between the two tonight 😂

AG96 · 29/06/2022 12:55

Midwife booked me in for bloods in 4 weeks because I have high platelets. Already read some horror stories, of course. Just hope everything will be okay

When did everyone start to pop out? I don’t have much bump but only 14 weeks, I have put on over half a stone though, braved it and weighed myself this morning

MrsCrumbtious · 29/06/2022 14:27

@AG96 i have a high platelet count that’s being monitored the consultant told me that I may have to go on aspirin if my 28 week bloods come back the same. Will definitely be staying away from Google 😂

AG96 · 29/06/2022 14:39

@MrsCrumbtious Yeah don't look at it on Google or mumsnet 😂 I'm already on 150mg of aspirin. My next bloods are at 21 weeks

@lovesT thanks a lot, all the best to you!

tasha4eva10 · 29/06/2022 15:44

Well had results for the DS testing and the other conditions and all come back ok and not high risk so I can finally breath easy there for a little while!

We find out what we're having in 2 weeks at a private 16 week scan and I'm a bag of nerves already that they're going say something is wrong

Vg92 · 29/06/2022 15:47

Lovely mums, what is your opinion on every week scans? I am located in the UK and here the official guidelines are only 2 scans at 12 and 20 week. I am 17 +2 weeks now and so far I had private scans every week. But last week I was told it is better to have the next scan in 2 weeks? Do you think every week scans would somehow hurt the baby? I am concerned that my belly is not growing much and I just want to make sure the baby is fine. I had my 16 weeks appointment with the midwife, but she only checked my blood pressure and my urine...

TeamBluex3 · 29/06/2022 15:48

quick question ladies sorry if interupting current discussions but have any of you experienced a metallic taste in your mouth? If so did it start from early pregnancy? Dont know if its normal but in this current pregnancy i haven't had that yet soo just wondering to see if some of you haven't had that like myself..

tasha4eva10 · 29/06/2022 15:53

@Vg92 ultrasound scans are safe as there's no radiation transmitted through these scans however guidelines do say scans every 2 weeks at a minimum.

Personally I'd stick to that time frame if you wish to regularly have scans

Amphibian94 · 29/06/2022 16:21

@Vg92 it's recommended only to have scans every 2 weeks. The clinic I went to for my private scan will only see you if there's 2 weeks between. And this early on I wouldn't be concerned about belly not growing, baby is still tiny, I don't even look pregnant most days and I'm 18 weeks. Is there a reason you're having weekly scans? If not perhaps just wait a while x

Vg92 · 29/06/2022 16:30

@Amphibian94 I had previous miscarriage last October and with this pregnancy I had bleeding at week 6, I also have blood clotting disorder. I would wait 2 weeks then. Thank you!

MadamMaltesers · 29/06/2022 16:30

Hi ladies,

Is anyone experiencing shortness of breath. I'm 16w 3d and since y'day have noticed that I'm getting out of breath easily and can't catch my breath. Is it normal? Or should I get it checked out.

Amphibian94 · 29/06/2022 17:06

@Vg92 similar to me, I've had 4 miscarriages and also a blood clotting issue. It's so hard to relax isn't it but if you can, try to cut back on the scans and try to get some peace of mind :) here to chat if needed! I found it super hard going from my 12 week scan to 16 week scan. I'm now being seen every 2 weeks as There's a chance baby could develop heart issues, but I'm just staying relaxed about that!

AG96 · 29/06/2022 17:19

@TeamBluex3 I haven't had any metallic taste

OP posts:
Mommabear20 · 29/06/2022 18:34

@TeamBluex3 I had the metallic taste with both previous pregnancies from around 5 weeks, till around 16 weeks, but this time it started around 14 weeks! 😂
