Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@buzz91 oh really I’d be happy for a December baby, maybe I’ll keep my toe in both groups 😂

FYI ladies if anyone can afford to encapsulate your placenta then go for it, I did it with my first and I didn’t have any baby blues 😊

Hi all! I haven't posted in a while but have been keeping up with the thread every couple of days. I'm 14w + 3d today and I had a good 12-week scan with my midwife unit at nearly 13 weeks. I was nervous and brought DH with me, and it was such a relief to see the little one moving around and the heartbeat! I think it may have measured a couple of days behind my EDD but they didn't want to change my date as with ivf I know the dates. So date still at 21 Dec. Winter solstice!

I had my NIPT test earlier at my ivf clinic, and I've been chasing them for the results as it's been over 2 weeks since they were done. Clinic nurse said they are fine, but they still need to send them across to me.

The past few days I've outgrown a couple of trousers that I had only bought a few weeks (months?) ago one size above my usual. I'm finally ready (in my head) to start shopping for proper maternity clothes. (I do have some tops that are baggy enough to keep wearing, so it's mainly the trousers and skirts/dresses I need, especially for work.) I really wish I could find some shops where I could try things on! It seems like everything (maternity) is online nowadays. My size changed in the past year or so due to lockdown (decrease in my usual exercise routine, plus eating too much) and ivf meds over many months. So when the sizes charts say to order your pre-pregnancy size, I'm slightly confused.

Anyway, I just need to resign myself to ordering more sizes and then sending some back. Just got an m&s order in the post and happy that everything fits (with room to grow) or is a bit loose to wear now but will fit as I get bigger. A couple of friends have recommended H&M and I'm thinking of getting a dress (or 3 in the sales) from Seraphine, as I have a wedding to go to, and I've outgrown all my pretty summer dresses.

@Bluebonnet3 congratulations! Beautiful pics. We are a few days apart 🥰 I am so with you on the maternity clothes frustration!! It's all a bit of an annoyance really as I like to touch clothes to see what the materials like before I buy and obviously changing size and shape, it would be way better to try before you buy too! I have found Vinted and Facebook market place really good for some bargains (new clothes are expensive and it feels like we need a lot!) - most of the stuff I have bought is brand new with tags too. Worth a try! Happy shopping 🥰🌸

Hi ladies well just for abit of fun i thought i would send my 12 week scan photos off to the nubologists and as i had suspected they have issued a refund as nub wasn't visible on all 6 photos!.. has this happened to anybody else? im thinking on uploading my photos on here to see what any of you think or could maybe compare to your scan photos.. sia for interupting any ongoing comments x

Jaaxe · 25/06/2022 11:01

@TeamBluex3 upload them! I’ll give a guess but it will just be a guess 🤣 usually I’m wrong, I’m pretty convinced I’m having a boy this time, what you reckon? Im going to try and not find out for certain this time so not going to send to nubologists or have gender scan, would like a surprise for a change but happy for u all to guess 😁

JC84 · 25/06/2022 11:11

Oh the maternity clothes pain! 😫 Literally nothing in the high street stores that sell maternity online. So frustrating and I refuse to pay loads for something that I will only wear a couple of months and are nearly 3 times the price of clothes I already have. I have just done an order from shein so I'll let you all know about the fit etc when that arrives.
I've been looking on marketplace for clothes and baby items I don't have too but people either don't reply, have sold it but leave advert up or they come up in your area but actually aren't so I'm done with that too 🤣

TeamBluex3 · 25/06/2022 11:19

@Jaaxe well i cant see a nub on your photo to be honest so looks like we are in same boat! I'll have a guess for you and say boy due to skull theory x

TeamBluex3 · 25/06/2022 11:21

@Jaaxe last set of photos 😂 i was 13 weeks x

AG96 · 25/06/2022 11:22

Some lovely scans ladies! I love to see them. Had my fasting bloods this morning. I'm usually a difficult bleeder but they got it first time. I was well impressed. Went and looked at some travel systems and found one we like, won't be buying it until 28 weeks or so. Also went to Sainsbury's and picked up a baby cardigan, t-shirt and a bib in the sale.

Had such bad nipple pain for 2 hours while I was out, could barely concentrate on anything else 😩 home now and chilling in the garden for a bit of sunshine! 🌞

I’m 16+6 now and feel like a whale. I don’t know how I have another 5 months of growing to do!
I wore my maternity jeans for the first time last night and ahhh they were bliss compared to my normal jeans that are far too tight now!
I’ve been on vinted and brought a few maternity dresses from there. Plus a bargain Perfect Prep machine for £8!! Also went to Matalan and brought some clothes 2 sizes bigger than normal and they are fitting (for now!!).

littlecontis · 25/06/2022 11:33

I'm 16+4 and bump has definitely got bigger in the last week! I got a couple of maternity dresses on eBay so definitely worth having a look!

Jaaxe · 25/06/2022 11:47

@TeamBluex3 i have no idea but looks a bit like my little boys scan so going to say boy but everyone thought he was a girl off the scan so could be a girl 🤣 I usually get them wrong tbf. Do you have 3 boys already? I’ve 2 girls and a boy already x

@AG96 interested to know which travel system you liked? I want to go have a look, we used the same one for my last 2 but it’s knackered now so been 4 years since I went pram shopping so everything’s probably all changed since then!

I’ve no maternity clothes but going to hold out as long as possible, will buy maternity leggings as they’re so comfy but i begrudge spending money on clothes I’ll wear for a matter of weeks, I also don’t find them very flattering but maybe thats just me looking like a whale in general not the actual clothes 🤣

Laughingmole · 25/06/2022 11:53

@littlecontis ooh eBay is a good shout! I’ll try there too!

AG96 · 25/06/2022 11:58

@Jaaxe This is the Travel system we are leaning towards. I was able to fold it with one hand and attach/detached all the seats and stuff quite easily. I'm also into black and rose gold 😂 felt nice to push and the handle was adjustable so good for 5"1 me and 5"10 DP

So guys I just checked my badger notes and my bloods are back….does anyone mind sharing their low risk results/ age with me? Sorry I’m such an anxious person and I know I’m older this time (32) I think my result last time was 1 in 55,000 for Down’s syndrome with my last baby and I was 29 then….this time its 1 in 11,000 for Down’s syndrome which seems like the risk has increased a fair amount since last time (it’s 1 in 100,000 for edwards/pataus- happy with that one) and the only thing that’s changed is my age 🤷‍♀️ I don’t smoke or anything and I’m not overweight, what else do they look at? sorry if I seem over the top and ungrateful for my low risk result I know low risk is still low risk it’s just my anxiety telling me it’s not low enough.

Laughingmole · 25/06/2022 12:10

@Jaaxe I’m 35 (first baby) and my risk is 1 in 6800, so higher than yours but still really low.
Just think that if 11000 babies are born, only one of them will have Downs. That’s the population of a small town. Xx

Jaaxe · 25/06/2022 12:33

@Laughingmole thanks thats really me….and your result sort of tallies with mine with our ages so that’s reassuring too, thanks so much I’ll not ring the midwife and look like a weirdo 🤣

hopefulsunshine11 · 25/06/2022 12:35

I got my bloods taken last Wednesday and I still don't. Have my results back. I'm in Scotland and the blood gets send to England for testing but still thought it would be back by now!

Jaaxe · 25/06/2022 12:44

@hopefulsunshine11 Mine were taken on Tuesday (just gone) then got results on badger this morning so only look 4days to come back but I’m England. They did say the longer you don’t hear the better as they deal with the high risk ones first understandably x

chardaboo · 25/06/2022 13:56

I got my bloods taken on the 16th and they are not back yet and I'm Scotland . not too sure how long they will be

Chanel05 · 25/06/2022 13:57

@Jaaxe I'm 32 and second baby. My Down's result is 1/3,000 and Edward's is 1/10,000.

Jaaxe · 25/06/2022 14:00

Thanks @Chanel05 appreciate this, i think I was just expecting similar to last time but obviously I’ve aged 3 years since then x

JC84 · 25/06/2022 14:28

@Jaaxe Mine are really high compared to 8 years ago.
I'm 38 and 1 in 8193 and 1 in 100000 so I too wasn't very excited by my 'low chance' but I think high is 1 in 150 so on that basis we are still very low 🙂
My bloods took 7 days in uk Friday to Friday but she said 1 to 2 weeks

RhiRhi1996 · 25/06/2022 15:14

@Jaaxe I'm 26 and my chances are worse than yours! 1 in 6662 for downs and 1 in 100,000 for other. So age isn't always the deciding factor obviously!

I am quite happy with my results, although it is easy to worry when you see others with such higher results! But like you said when you put it into perspective of less than 1 in 150 is considered high risk, the odds are very good in comparison.

RhiRhi1996 · 25/06/2022 15:14

Oops just realised I @ the wrong person 😅
