Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

We haven’t DTD once since finding out I’m pregnant 😅 where do you all find the energy?!

We have a very active 14 month old and I am EXHAUSTED! I’m sure I had way more energy when I was pregnant with my DS.

hoping the energy comes back to me soon!

Same! I’m going to bed the moment DD does at the moment, and sleeping solidly for a chunk, then have insomnia and nausea from about 2am. The last thing on my mind and schedule is boning. Once or twice a week?! When??

The motion alone would probably make me hurl. Also just discovered both DD and I have headlice, so had to tell DP our date night this weekend would be him nit-combing me. Not really conducive to sexy times.

LolaJ87 · 22/06/2022 10:29

@hopefulsunshine11 I was on anti-depressants a couple of years ago and the side effects caused a bit of a blip in our sex life. I did find getting going again a bit weird and felt less at ease? It's one of those things (for me anyway) that can be a bit awkward after a break, it's like you've to relax into it again. It seems like the more you're stressing about it, the less you're going to enjoy it and then the less you're going to want to do it. Try and take some of the pressure off yourself for now, there are always other ways to connect.

Also I'm no doctor but could that be pelvic girdle pain or round ligament pain you're feeling? Doesn't sound fun either way, I doubt anyone would be rushing back for more after that!

PinkFizz1 · 22/06/2022 10:34

Since the 2nd trimester we’ve been DTD a couple of times a week. Didn’t want to do it at all in the 1st trimester. Now my drives come back a bit but not massively.
We don’t have any other kids though so I’m sure if we did it wouldn’t be on the cards at all!

hopefulsunshine11 · 22/06/2022 10:37

@LolaJ87 yeah, I'm just not feeling it at all really apart from maybe the odd couple of nights and DP has been really understanding so it's me that initiated it. I think I'll just need to keep it on the back burner for now, we're very emotionally connected and there are no other issues.

I'm hoping it's just something like that, it's a shooting pain like going across where you'd get a cesarian it goes along the way and up the way and when I'm bending down, it's not there all the time but every few minutes. It's only been like that since! I don't have another scan for another 3 weeks yet. I've had no bleeding touch wood just this uncomfortable pain.

I'm annoyed at myself as I have severe anxiety so knee this would happen and I'd worry! I'm my own worse enemy.

AG96 · 22/06/2022 10:45

@stuntbubbles Ooo a sexy nit combing session 😂 any mention of nits just gives me flash backs to primary school where I seemed to have them so often. My mum once bought one of those electric zap nit combs that shock the nits. She didn't notice one of the plastic protective feet had come off and she was giving me and my brother electric shocks that hurt a lot 😭😂😂

@hopefulsunshine11 I have like pelvic ache after we DTD. Not sure if it used to happen before I was pregnant but, as I'm also very anxious like you, I just pay a lot of attention to every twinge now

OP posts:
LolaJ87 · 22/06/2022 10:49

@hopefulsunshine11 that really sounds like round ligament pain! I've had it when standing up too fast and after sneezing, it's a really sharp pain but passes fast? Being pregnant is SO much harder than expected isn't it 😬Managing anxiety is hard at the best of times, but I've had a lot of ups and downs this pregnancy and it's almost impossible to not get into my own head too much. I'm sure everything will be perfect at your next scan.

Delighted to hear your partner is being so lovely! That makes a world of difference. I don't know how I'd be managing without my husband to keep me sane.

PinkFizz1 · 22/06/2022 10:56

Ladies, I need recommendations for pregnancy pillows please! I’m going to treat myself this week. I want a full U shape
one not a half one, but there’s SO many out there I don’t know which one to choose!

stuntbubbles · 22/06/2022 11:00

@AG96 😂 I would happily zap these fuckers. She had a massive infestation before and we paid £££ to a specialist hairdresser to vacuum them out over two sessions, she got completely clear. A month later picked them up again at nursery 🤬 They’re impossible to eradicate from her curly hair, it’s like a forest playground.

AG96 · 22/06/2022 11:31

@stuntbubbles Well they say they favour clean hair so at least you know she's nice and clean 😂 do they still do that stinky stuff ointment that you put all over your hair to kill them? I remember being dropped off pretty regularly at my grandma's covered in the stuff 😂

tasha4eva10 · 22/06/2022 12:55

@PinkFizz1 oh gosh we DTD every night 🤣🫢 there's only been around 3 nights since March when we haven't either due to tiredness or feeling sick etc but those times instead we end up doing it as wake up sex 🤣.

I have a 12yr old so she's fairly easy to parent so not tired due to her like I would be with a toddler etc so I'm sure that will change when baby is here!

RhiRhi1996 · 22/06/2022 13:09

I have been DTD about once per week since finding out I'm pregnant. However, I feel like my sex drive is starting to increase now as I enter 2nd trimester so looks like we will be doing it much more hopefully 😆

Sunshine92 · 22/06/2022 13:15

@stuntbubbles glad its not only me 😅
Ooh nothing screams sex like a nit combing sesh … meow!
I’m hoping I get my mojo back one day…maybe when the kids are like 20 haha!

@PinkFizz1 Sorry I can’t help, but I’m looking for recommendations too! We only had a little v-shaped pillow last time and it didn’t quite cut it!

Also looking for recommendations for a moving swing chair thing like the mammaroo? We didn’t have one with DS but wish we had invested!

Jaaxe · 22/06/2022 15:58

Does anyone know about pre natal vitamins? Now I’m past 12 weeks do we need to be taking any? I’m getting bad constipation is all so id rather avoid the iron in the ones that have everything in and just get specific ones if it’s needed. Also the maternity exemption certificate, when can we get that and how do we get it? X

LolaJ87 · 22/06/2022 16:20

@Jaaxe Yeah, I did a maternal nutrition course through my hospital and they said that the guidance now is to take vitamins the whole way through, but the only essentials if you're eating ok are folic acid and Vitamin D. So no Iron required unless you're anaemic!

AG96 · 22/06/2022 16:28

Just had my 16 week midwife appointment. It was okay but I always cry lol. Got to have fasting bloods on Saturday morning due to borderline blood test (glucose) at booking. Also referred to the more "intense" health visitor thing due to mental health and previous emotional abuse (from my dad). Heard babies heartbeat with the Doppler which was cool. Just feel emotionally drained every time I have to speak about myself or how I feel. What a Debbie downer I am right now! Lol

TeamBluex3 · 22/06/2022 16:33

@AG96 i also had my 16 week midwife appointment today & also heard babys heartbeat 😁little ones heart was 136bpm... anybody else got their 16 week mifwife appointment coming up? Hello to everyone else by the way spend most of time just reading comments & following thread rather than comment😂

Tofu35 · 22/06/2022 16:39

@Jaaxe I know the certificate to give employers to confirm pregnancy is given around 22 weeks, but unsure if that's the one you mean. Sorry if it's not!

I emailed my line manager to say about pregnancy today (contract is up in September, baby due December...need their help to keep me in the job!). Was told to have it in writing in case anything happens in future so there's a paper trail. Of course their reply was "call me at 5". So I will, and then will email a summary of the call to him for my own records. Think that's the right thing to do, right?

LolaJ87 · 22/06/2022 16:44

Aww @AG96 that's a lot to be dealing with. You're not being a Debbie Downer, it's ok to find all that tough. Hopefully everything will be ok on Saturday!

DogsAndGin · 22/06/2022 16:59

Mommabear20 · 22/06/2022 08:54

We've DTD once since I found out I'm pregnant! Things still aren't great between us at the moment so I'm just not in the mood, as for me other things are far more meaningful than sex and as he hasn't shown me any positive attention lately, I'm reluctant to be physical.

We've started discussing names but it's very half arsed on his part, makes occasional suggestions, but won't commit to any.

I’m sorry to hear this @Mommabear20 I hope things improve for you 💐

AG96 · 22/06/2022 17:02

@TeamBluex3 my little ones heart rate was 146 or something in that region. Really cool to hear

@LolaJ87 thank you 😊 hopefully Saturday will be fine. Hate having my bloods done and not looking forward to fasting, constantly hungry these days 🤣 might have to get a cheeky McDonald's breakfast after lol

DogsAndGin · 22/06/2022 17:03

@ElephantGrey101 sorry you’re feeling so poorly, I hope the hospital are able to help and hopefully you’ll feel better as the pregnancy continues

@hopefulsunshine11 we have had ZERO PIV sex 😢😢😢😢 really miss him! I am too prone to UTIs and don’t want to risk getting one or using antibiotics during the pregnancy… so it’s going to be the whole 9 months for us! Plus recovery time! So possible a year!! Poor DH. We can do ‘other stuff’, but yeah, it’s not nice.

Jaaxe · 22/06/2022 17:03

@LolaJ87 thanks, so do we need to continue the folic acid still too?

@AG96 hope you are ok, Ive cried at all my appointments too, u aren’t alone. I didn’t realise there was a more intense health visitor. I have severe anxiety and been referred to the perinatal mental health team to help me through pregnancy, I don’t really want any extra support from health visitors though even though I know it’s not a bad thing I just don’t think they’ll be able to provide any extra support that I’ll find helpful.

@TeamBluex3 glad ur 16 week appt went well! did they do much at it? I can’t even remember what they usually do at that appt. I’m only 13 weeks so a few weeks off yet but I’ve been booked for another scan at my 16 week appt so hopefully all will be good there!

@Tofu35 thanks yeah the matb1 is from 20 weeks for ur employer but the one where u get free prescriptions? When do we get that? Defo good to keep a paper trail or even ask them to confirm things via email you’ve spoken about in the phone.

hope everyone else is well, sorry it’s hard to keep up on this group!

Mommabear20 · 22/06/2022 17:18

Has anyone ever had a baby shower? Would it be ridiculous to have one when it's baby #3? I had to cancel both of the ones I had planned with my first 2 due to covid :(

JC84 · 22/06/2022 17:19

@AG96 definitely treat yourself to maccys afterwards and take care of yourself, we are all here to listen if you need need rant or talk!
@Jaaxe I was told to take the whole prenatal vitamin the whole way through but if struggling after 12 weeks just ensure taking vit d and 400 folic acid
I got the free prescription card through the post about a week after my 12 week app so definitely check with your midwife as she did it all for me we didn't even discuss it lol

I swear the clock strikes 4pm and my belly expands every day 🙈 I am going to have to tell people soon, especially my mum - I just can't find the words 🤣

We have had a great day out at legoland today!

JC84 · 22/06/2022 17:22

@Mommabear20 definitely not! You still deserve it even if you'd had the previous 2!
I had a badly organised one with a mismatched group of friends and I'm hoping one of our friends will take on the role and sort one for me once they all find out
