Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@Jaaxe Yeah been referred to them as well. Been told there's a waiting list so not sure how long it is. Have they contacted you yet? I don't know how into the health visitor stuff is as I worry they might judge me. I worry because I think our house is small and people will judge that. I come from a snobbish family that have made me feel weird about stuff like houses and possessions. Hope you feel better with your anxiety x

@JC84 thank you 😊

@Mommabear20 defo not ridiculous, I know people who have them for every baby! Especially if you haven’t been able to have one before. Ive had one before and it was a suprise and unfortunately as I didn’t organise it a lot of people I would of invited got missed off the list by the organiser and I felt awful they wernt there, so anyone planning one just bare that in mind with others organising it for you xx

Jaaxe · 22/06/2022 17:34

@AG96 i was told the wait was about 4 weeks for perinatal mental health….I’m not really sure how they are going to help me as my anxiety is all to do with my health so I find my Gp more useful to ease my anxiety. I’ve had help from mental health with anxiety reducing techniques, medications and cbt in the past and they haven’t worked for me so although probably a little defeatist I’m not hopeful about it all. They won’t judge your house because it’s small don’t worry they’re just there to help xx

Sdoubleyou · 22/06/2022 17:46

@TeamBluex3, I had bloods done at 12 weeks and had to fast for 12h and it was agony despite my appointment being at 8am 😂. I actually brought a sandwich to the appointment and ate straight after the nurse was done. Apparently this is common!

I'm getting a pregnancy pillow from a friend soon but I've been using an assortment of pillows for now. One under the head, one between the knees and another against my chest and belly. That one was a game changer. I felt like my belly was hanging and it was getting uncomfortable.

lifechanginglemoncake · 22/06/2022 18:01

@AG96 hope your fasting test is ok. If anyone does end up with a GD diagnosis I'm happy to chat - second time round for me! Hopefully all will be fine and you don't have to worry about it.

With health visitors, they are there to help and not to judge. It's their job to support people and they will be working with all sorts of different people struggling for any number of reasons.

AG96 · 22/06/2022 18:09

@Jaaxe I've also had cbt and medication. Are people surprised when you tell them cbt didn't work? I found it to be rubbish for me, all 3 times 😂 I can totally relate with the health anxiety. It's difficult because it's your own body/mind causing the fear and you can't escape or get away from it xx

@lifechanginglemoncake Sorry to hear you've had GD twice now. Is it diet controlled or do you take meds/insulin? I was previously prediabetic but changed diet (brown pasta, rice, bread etc) and managed to resolve it.

I get nervous my family coming to the house in case they think it's small or dirty or smelly. We always clean and stuff but worry if I get used to the smell or something 😂 my uncle is coming to stay overnight on Monday and I am so nervous. Never had anyone to stay at our house before

Wow so many of us had our 16week appointments today! I also got to hear the baby’s heartbeat, it was lovely 🥰 midwife said it was about 145bpm!

this time tomorrow we will know the sex!!

TeamBluex3 · 22/06/2022 19:03

@Jaaxe no tbh didn't do much (im from north yorkshire btw) just told me that my bloods they took at booking appointment came back all ok, to keep an eye on my itching & headaches & listened to baby heart beat that was pretty much it. x

TeamBluex3 · 22/06/2022 19:05

@PinkFizz1 by heartbeat theory then seems like it could be a girl for you & another boy for me! (Already have 3 like) 😂

PinkFizz1 · 22/06/2022 19:36

@TeamBluex3 were pretty sure it’s a girl anyway as I sent my 13wk scan to loads of nub groups and they all came back girl with literally no boy guesses 🤣 so I will be very very shocked if they tell us it’s a boy tomorrow!

lifechanginglemoncake · 22/06/2022 19:44

@AG96 last pregnancy I was diagnosed from the GTT at 28 weeks and stayed diet controlled until he was delivered at 41+1 after a looooooong induction.

This time I have been testing since booking and I've seen high levels when I eat normally so I'm diet controlling it again. Having some high fasting readings in the mornings but so far not enough to need medication. Hoping to remain diet controlled but that may not be possible as it gets progressively harder as your hormones kick in.

I'm really trying not to blame myself or beat myself up about it but it is so hard sometimes. I'm doing everything I can but it may not be enough and therefore I might need medication or insulin. The difficult thing is speaking to healthcare professionals who just judge you on appearance and not on what you tell them. The diabetes midwife basically told me I have type 2 diabetes because I was seeing high levels so early this time. But I know I don't because I was tested in January and it came back normal and then we conceived in March.

Hope the visit from your family goes well. Perfection isn't attainable! Just do your best (which you are doing).

AG96 · 22/06/2022 20:09

@lifechanginglemoncake You did amazing to remain diet controlled in your last pregnancy. Hope you are able to this time, however if you are unable to there is no shame in that. Worth it for the baby at the end. It's hard not to beat yourself up but it's definitely not your fault.

I understand feeling judged on appearance. I feel guilty for being overweight and worry about how people think less of me just because of my size. While being pregnant this feeling is heightened due to it being mentioned on any scan and any appointment. "Difficult to scan due to maternal tissue" etc, high risk, everything else they mention

baby2in2022 · 22/06/2022 20:17

@Mommabear20 definitely not ridiculous I had a virtual one last time. Not sure what I'll do this time. I'm tempted to have a champagne shower once baby is here. Sounds more fun. I won't organise myself but if my friends or sister organises a baby shower I'll happily attend xx

tasha4eva10 · 22/06/2022 20:21

I'm thinking of hosting a gender reveal BBQ for family. At least that way we can still celebrate the baby but not come across as us expecting presents etc.

I have booked a private gender scan at 16 weeks that's in 4 weeks time so hopefully the closest weekend will be nice weather to host it outside

TeamBluex3 · 22/06/2022 22:38

@PinkFizz1 is this your first pregnancy? And interesting as i posted my scan photo on a seperate thread & 1 person commented & said boy 😂 but i cant see the obvious stacked nub like my youngest son had in his 12 week scan photo so will see aslong as baby is healthy thats all that matters 😀 goodluck for tomorrow x

PinkFizz1 · 23/06/2022 06:13

@TeamBluex3 yeah it’s my first! How many weeks are you? Are you going to find out? (Sorry if you’ve already said, this thread moves soooo fast!) and thank you! Very excited for tonight!

Chanel05 · 23/06/2022 06:56

My gender scan isn't until 9th July but I've posted on a couple of different nub Facebook groups and about 15 people said boy and 1 person said girl.

Then, I decided to do the "Early Glimpse" which is the same as "Nubologists" and I did EG with my daughter and they were accurate. They've said from my scan photos that it's 90% chance of girl! So now I have no clue!

Tofu35 · 23/06/2022 07:44

Oh a barbeque, that's a lovely idea @tasha4eva10. Hope the weather behaves for you :)

siobhanmt247 · 23/06/2022 08:10

Morning all. I'm 15 weeks today and a bit worried about how ok I feel. My sore boobs are getting better and I've got more energy. My bump popped on Monday which I was really happy about but it's gone back again since!

Tulip1112 · 23/06/2022 08:15

@siobhanmt247 omg I am exactly the same!!!!!! I'm 15 weeks Saturday but have a private scan tomorrow. I have been feeling a bit nervous. The midwife did tell me she would be surprised if boobs hurt the whole time, so fluctuations are normal. My belly feels like someone's taking the knot out of a balloon and then let some air out- my friend joked that baby was hiding again. Trying to remain chilled- they do say the 2nd trimester gets better! 🤞🏻

siobhanmt247 · 23/06/2022 08:21

@Tulip1112 glad I'm not the only one. I'd heard it was normal to start to feel better I just barely feel pregnant anymore. Boyfriend isn't keen on early scan so just hoping I get to hear the heartbeat at my nidwives appointment in a few weeks

lovesT · 23/06/2022 08:59

@sisiobhanmt247 I wouldn't let it worry you, I know that's not easy though! I have been feeling much better for a few weeks (will be 17 weeks tomorrow) and definitely don't "feel pregnant" apart from my bump growing especially in the last week. With my first my boobs stopped hurting around 12 ish weeks. Now they're still a bit sore but way less. I've also had more energy for a few weeks which also fluctuates. The second trimester for many is much easier (it has been for me both times) so just enjoy it 😊.

I'm a bit sad I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks like some others! I did with my daughter but that was pre covid and we're now in a totally different area but I won't see the midwife again until 22 weeks! My 16 week appointment was just a catch up on the phone 😕 scan next month though 👍

TeamBluex3 · 23/06/2022 09:13

@PinkFizz1 the threads do move so fast thats why i asked if it was your first or not but awwww everything is so new & exciting when its your first 🤗 & im 16weeks+4 days today. & no not going to find out early what we are having (could of done but think early gender scans are expensive!) Sooo just going to wait until 19th July as that is when my 20 weeks nhs scan is 😀

stuntbubbles · 23/06/2022 09:45

I’d bloody love to feel better soon! Officially in the second trimester now and spent three hours yesterday lying on the bathroom floor heaving into a washing up bowl. Grim.

Got my second bonus scan this morning and despite seeing the baby only a week ago, the scanxiety is back!

siobhanmt247 · 23/06/2022 11:20

Thanks @lovesT hopefully movement and bump growing will start soon and I will feel better. Sorry you didn't get to hear the heartbeat, just a few more weeks to your next scan x
