Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@RhiRhi1996 mine took so long as they were behind. 20 mins past my appointment time for scan, had to wait for midwife to see me, they struggled to get my bloods, had to wait again to see consultant as I'm high risk. If you don't have to see consultant it will probably be a lot faster. And hopefully clinic isn't running behind for you

@LolaJ87 congratulations on your boy and a really positive scan! 😁💙

@JC84 that sounds like you GTT, (Glucose Tolerance Test) that checks for gestational diabetes. It's not fun, but also not exactly terrible, I rather enjoyed the 2 hours sat in peace and quiet! 😂 because it's so far away, I wouldn't worry it's about anything serious, if it was they'd be seeing you a lot sooner.

buzz91 · 16/06/2022 18:54

@JC84 as mommabear20 said it’s probably your oral glucose tolerance test, I had my dating scan Tuesday and the letter for the test arrived Wednesday morning. I looked online and if you hit any of their indicators you get the test (usually between 24 and 28 weeks but can be earlier if you hit more than one): age, bmi, ethnicity, family history etc.

JC84 · 16/06/2022 20:17

I did the test last time anyway with no markers but was at a midwife app. They said there's other stuff booked at the same time so can't change it from my really busy monday at work and i haven't told work yet and now have 3 hosp appointments plus midwife to try and get out for 😂
I've calmed down a bit now I have company and will ring in the morning to find out what's what
Can only be the age marker if it is glucose test as a very healthy size 8 and will only be 18.5weeks and it's app for consultant in main hospital

Jaaxe · 16/06/2022 21:04

@JC84 are you classed as high risk for any reason? If so you have a consultant appointment around 16-18 weeks. I am high risk due to previous csections so have to have a consultant appointment around then to discuss birth planning and anything extra I might need in pregnancy x

Hi everyone! I thought it was finally time to join this thread. So lovely to read of all the mamas supporting each other. Had my 12 week scan last week and baby was incredibly active- took the sonographer 25 mins to take measurements!!! They brought me forward a few days too so I'm 14 weeks Saturday, due 17/12. Having a private scan next Friday before we tell people! Still a bit weary as this is my 3rd pregnancy after 2 losses 🌈 Hoping I start to feel excited although this is tougher as I am suffering with really sore and achey hips!! Does anyone else have this at this point?? Here's my scan, we probably won't find out gender but I think the different theories are so fun so feel free to have a guess!!

@Jaaxe not that they have told me, hence my worry! I can't believe they can refer to consultant without telling me or the reason why?!

lovesT · 16/06/2022 21:53

@Tulip111 welcome! What a lovely scan photo. Lovely to hear everything is looking good 😊. Yes I've had sore hips especially at night and in the morning, having a pregnancy pillow or a normal pillow between my knees when I lay down on my side really helps but I had sore hips with my daughter too. It's all the muscles and ligaments relaxing so can be achy! It's a nerve wracking time, especially if you've been through losses, I hope everything goes well for you - this is a lovely supportive thread 😊

lovesT · 16/06/2022 21:53

Sorry didn't tag properly! @Tulip1112

chardaboo · 16/06/2022 22:15

@AG96 😊cool, my partner thinks that too and my sister haha.

exciting times, my due date was moved 3 days to the 30th December! can't wait

chardaboo · 16/06/2022 22:21

I like the term "lightening crotch"

but not the feeling of it 😂😂

Tulip1112 · 17/06/2022 06:24

@lovesT thank you! I'm trying the pillow thing and it definitely relieves pressure, just need a trick for the day aches now- like if I stand too long or sit at my desk for too long! Think I will mention to midwife just in case!

Jaaxe · 17/06/2022 07:19

@Tulip1112 i have the achy hips too! Keep an eye on it because I had terrible spd in my last pregnancy and was on crutches and needed physio, acupuncture and hydrotherapy (this is worst case spd though so don’t worry too much) You can be referred to the womens health physio who can help with all this, give u something for your bump, give you specific ways to get around so you don’t make it any worse etc should you need it xxx

Tulip1112 · 17/06/2022 12:45

@jaaxe thank you for the advice! If it doesn't get worse I will talk to midwife in a few weeks at my 16 ish week appt and see what they say. It's tricky not to be concerned about later pregnancy when it's already ouchy!! X x

Tofu35 · 17/06/2022 12:57

Thought I was getting in the swing of the second trimester, my appetite was back, I was retching a lot less. I get in my car this morning to go to a meeting, and SURPRISE VOMIT.

Don't know if it's something I ate last night or just actual morning sickness (that I thought I'd avoided so far).

Boooo.

Sdoubleyou · 17/06/2022 13:02

Have you ladies tried yoga for the aches? I started doing some prenatal classes and it's helping a lot. Worth a try.

MrsWindrush · 17/06/2022 14:43

@Sdoubleyou how far along are you? I’d love to do prenatal yoga but feel a little silly going to a class as I’m only 12+1 so far!

Jaaxe · 17/06/2022 16:40

@Sdoubleyou is it really helping? I’m willing to give anything a try….there doesn’t seem to be many prenatal classes where I am, I had a look for aquanatal but can’t find any x

Nutella99 · 17/06/2022 17:00

Have you all told many people at work yet? I told my boss just after the 12 week scan then the rest of my small team when I got the blood/scan results saying low chance of syndromes. Then I've just been telling a few people when I speak to them. I feel weird "announcing" it though!? We're mainly working from home still so it just feels a bit more forced over Zoom than it would otherwise. I'm now nervous that I've told too many people at work/made too big a deal out of it when it's still pretty early on and at least another 5 months before I go on maternity leave. On the other hand, I'm definitely going to start showing soon and it will be noticeable when I do see them in person!

Am I just overthinking?

Jaaxe · 17/06/2022 17:24

I haven’t told anyone yet, I’ve not had my 12 week scan yet it’s on Tuesday, I will definitely wait for the results of the blood tests too. To be honest I don’t plan on telling people until it becomes obvious, I’ll just let them go ahead and ask 🤣 il of course have to tell my boss and close family in the next few weeks but everyone else can just find out whenever they find out. I have really bad anxiety though so this makes me think the worst in all situations. I think it’s fine to tell people after your 12 week scan, that’s when people expect to find out, people will probably think I’m very weird when they find out I’m pregnant and haven’t felt the need to tell them.

JC84 · 17/06/2022 17:28

@Nutella99 I'm finding it hard to find the words to tell people. I haven't told my mum yet and I'm 14 weeks and definitely not the size 8 I was at 5 weeks 🤣
I won't be telling work anytime soon as they're messing about with my wages and staff and as I'm factory based I can hide it quite well
I've only told a 2 friends and my massage lady
I think it's great you have told people, and im sure work will appreciate the early notice. I did tell mine after 12 week scan last time

Sdoubleyou · 17/06/2022 17:38

@Jaaxe @MrsWindrush, I'm 14+3. Been doing it for a few weeks, but online. The classes close to me are at really inconvenient times. I'd like to go to a real one though. I use peloton app but there are many classes on YouTube. I find it really helps a lot. I get hip cramping (before pregnancy as well) and it helps realign everything. Major difference for me. It's also helping me be more mindful of the pregnancy and taking the time to quietly feel my body.

Jaaxe · 17/06/2022 19:09

@Sdoubleyou thanks so much for this info, I’ve had hip pain pre pregnancy too so it’s helpful to know you think this helps, my hips feel out of alignment all the time too! Going to have a look online and give it a go! X
