Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@AG96 I thought I would go for mine between 16-17 weeks. I had my 12w at 13+0 and my 20 is on my 20+0 date :)
I haven't booked it yet as waiting for my letter of results to come first which I'm hoping will be this week 🤞🏻

AG96 · 16/06/2022 12:43

@JC84 yeah I think I will go on the 25th maybe. I'll be 16+5 then. Hope your results come through soon 🤞 at least you know you would have had a call if anything was troubling

I've never had any of the tests for downs or anything like that, but very glad to hear everyone is getting low chances!

Won't be having a private scan either as DH said it's 'a waste of money' 😢 so I'm gonna have to wait till my 20 weeks scan at the end of July to find out! It seems like forever away! I'm 15+1 today though so I'm reality it's really not that long 😂

Still having strong feelings it's a girl and I always see a girl in my dreams but not sure if that's an omen or if it's just that that was always going to be what my 3rd child was going to be. (We planned to adopt a 3rd child of about 4 years of age when our 2 bio kids were 7&6, and both said we wanted another girl so always planned on having 2 girls and a boy).

Chanel05 · 16/06/2022 14:07

@Mommabear20 I knew that I was having a girl when I was pregnant with my daughter.

I'm having massive boy vibes this time. I posted my dating scan picture onto three different nub pages yesterday and every response said boy, so I think I'm right!

I have a certain girl name but the boy name we chose last time I've really gone off of, my husband still loves it though.

siobhanmt247 · 16/06/2022 14:09

@Mommabear20 my partner won't let me have a private scan either so waiting until 29th July. I really want a girl but have only had mild symptoms so feel like its a boy

hopefulsunshine11 · 16/06/2022 14:15

We had a private scan last night! Baba is well and growing with a strong heartbeat. We found out the gender, we were going to do a reveal but opened the envelope in the car 🤣🤣.

Going to tell parents this weekend!

I got bloods taken yesterday for downs and I'm going to be so anxious waiting on them coming back. I'm in Scotland and it can be a week to two weeks.

Mommabear20 · 16/06/2022 16:23

How is everyone coping with the current heat? Both my other pregnancies were full term around about now and honestly think I was cooler then than I am now! Absolutely melting! 🥵

tasha4eva10 · 16/06/2022 16:25

Struggling! My daughter was born 21st may 2010 so escaped the heat and not had to struggle since but my god it's difficult! Literally going sainsburys when my partner gets home and getting a gazebo and pool ready for tomorrow 😂

Tofu35 · 16/06/2022 16:28

@Mommabear20 not too bad in Glasgow, luckily! Feeling so sorry for those people in 30+degree heat. Sending cool thoughts your way!

JC84 · 16/06/2022 16:46

Ladies any advice please
I've just got home to a letter from the hospital saying I have an appointment 18th July in obstetrics for up to 2 hours - what will this be for?
I'm really worried now as still waiting for my blood results 😕

tasha4eva10 · 16/06/2022 16:46

Possibly your diabetes glucose test

lifechanginglemoncake · 16/06/2022 16:48

@JC84 are you high risk? Likely to just be a clinic and meeting with the consultant or other doctors. Or could it be your 20 week scan?
If you're worried call them and find out what it's for as they should be able to tell you.

AG96 · 16/06/2022 16:57

@JC84 20 week scan? Mines on 22nd July

OP posts:
AG96 · 16/06/2022 17:00

@JC84 just checked my 20 week scan letter and says I will be there for a minimum of 2 hours. Was there nearly 3 hours for my 12 week scan!

stuntbubbles · 16/06/2022 17:04

@JC84 Try not to worry. I’ve just had a flurry of letters through for various consults and appointments, I’m assuming they’re to do with various risk factors identified at my 8-week booking in, eg being ancient, etc

JC84 · 16/06/2022 17:14

Not my scan thats on 29th, the last I need to speak to isn't in until tomorrow
I am 38 so am older but my midwife wasn't concerned and no one has said anything to me about referring and as I only had 12w scan on Friday I'm a bit worried. Actually getting myself upset and wish I hadn't opened it!
My only issue last time was pre eclampsia which 2 hospitals and 3 midwives didn't diagnose even tho I couldn't walk my feet were so swollen but they're putting me on a asprin at 16 weeks for that?

RhiRhi1996 · 16/06/2022 17:15

Wait why do the scans take so long?

I have only had private scan, and it only like 30 mins or less. Why do the NHS scans take so long ? 2-3 hours is extreme no??

My husband is taking the morning off of my NHS 12 week scan on Monday, I told him it would only take like 30 min or something.

Laughingmole · 16/06/2022 17:24

I’ve just had my 16 week midwife appointment and I asked to hear the heartbeat. They found it straight away and it was lovely to hear 🥰

Laughingmole · 16/06/2022 17:27

@RhiRhi1996 I was at the hospital just over an hour for my 12 week scan. That included the scan, having bloods taken and waiting around in the middle while they wrote up the notes.

lovesT · 16/06/2022 17:29

@RhiRhi1996 I only remember a little bit now but you can also get your whooping cough vaccine, also might do a urine sample so with the scan which is quite detailed plus waiting dor the other things which will be done by someone different that's probably what explains the up to 2 hours. It's not just a quick look at baby (which is nice as it's more detailed!) So won't be as quick as a private scan. It may not be that long but better to expect that x

stuntbubbles · 16/06/2022 17:29

@RhiRhi1996 Well private scans are just for fun, really, they’re not a medical scan. The nhs 12-week scan is dating, measuring, various tests. The 20-week one is a full anatomy scan and can take a while especially if the baby won’t cooperate and you have to do a dance, go for a walk, eat chocolate, etc (seriously); it looks at all the organs and they’re thorough!

JC84 · 16/06/2022 17:30

@RhiRhi1996 the scans don't take long, nhs are usually on time and mine was 20mins but then had to wait 50 minutes to get bloods taken as were understaffed my Private scan was about 20 mins too

LolaJ87 · 16/06/2022 17:31

I had my early anatomy scan today, to check for any defects or soft markers for issues based on my repeated low fetal fraction NIPT results. Was strange having 3 doctors assessing everything but baby was looking perfect, everything was exactly as it should be. I’m going to be checked again in 3 weeks to be on the safe side, but if that’s all clear too then we can skip an amniocentesis and expect that everything is ok.

Also we found out that we’re having a boy 💙 we both strongly felt it would be!

Sdoubleyou · 16/06/2022 17:37

Congrats @LolaJ87! So fun!!

Chanel05 · 16/06/2022 17:37

@RhiRhi1996 many reasons! Firstly, you're more than likely going to be called in late for your appointment at they'll be running behind at LEAST 20 minutes. Baby may not be in the optimum position so you could need to go for a walk. The scan itself is fairly comprehensive and lasts about 25 minutes. You could have a trainee sonographer, which will double the length of the scan to around 50 minutes. Then you need to wait to be called in for a blood test.
