Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

@chardaboo My letter said just to drink a large glass of water an hour before my 12 week scan. When I got there they wanted me to pee in a pot and then have the scan so effectively my bladder was empty

stuntbubbles · 13/06/2022 07:38

@BuchananBaby I used to show newborn DD all the baby books and tell her “Look, now: it says here you’re supposed to be sleeping for six-hour stretches.”

Hope you’re OK, @DogsAndGin, how scary.

tasha4eva10 · 13/06/2022 07:59

Morning ladies

Hope you all had a good weekend? It was my birthday on Friday so my weekend was very busy celebrating with family.

This morning I have my first appointment with an obstetrician. Has anyone ever had one? What can I expect on the first appointment?

I'm 12 weeks on Thursday and have my next scan on 21st. Looking forward to seeing baby again as this will already be our 4th scan 😂 don't think I'm going to cope going to 20 weeks for the next one!

PinkFizz1 · 13/06/2022 08:04

Morning all

I’m 15 weeks tomorrow, I can’t believe it! I also can’t believe how quickly it seems to be flying by!

is anyone at the point of finding out the sex privately yet, if that’s what they want to do? Only 10 days until our private scan where we will find out BUT I sent my scan pics to a few popular nub theory groups on Facebook and EVERY SINGLE GUESS (and there was a lot of them) was a girl. So we’ll see!

DogsAndGin · 13/06/2022 08:55

Thanks for the well wishes, girls! Nobody seems to be too concerned about the fainting so 🤷🏼‍♀️

But anyway. Had scan! Baby measuring ahead, new due date 15th Dec, 13+4! Here it is sucking its thumb!

@DogsAndGin thats such a lush scan photo!

Morning ive been MIA ...spent the weekend in bolton catching up with husbands friends and family and saw the killers Saturday night. I am exhausted!
Its husbands birthday today so heading for breakfast before we drive back to Newcastle.

12 week scan tomorrow and I'm a bundle of nausea, nerves and excitement. Do scans ever get easier?!

chardaboo · 13/06/2022 09:21

@HayleyBean ah okay thanks ! I hate having to pee on command, I JUST managed to do it at the first midwife app after being there an hour haha.

@tasha4eva10 Happy Birthday 😊 I know I'm the same with scans, feel it's all I count down to these days lol. I am hopefully only going to do one more private one to find out the sex then wait for 20 week one (after my 12 week one this week) I would love one every week but it could get costly doing that.

@PinkFizz1 me ! I have already booked one for the 11th July (where going off LMP this will take me to 16 weeks) however have 12 week scan on Thursday and hoping the dates don't change here as it might mess this app date up ? and I'm keen to know as early as possible so I can get even more excited. My partner and me are quite impatient and like to find out things like yesterday lol.

@DogsAndGin that's a brilliant scan pic 😀

BuchananBaby · 13/06/2022 09:32

@JC84 that's awful! I always find it so bizarre how much trusts differ from each other when it's one NHS! I will need to buy tiny baby clothes this time though cause DD was the same everything was too big for her 🙈

@stuntbubbles I love it! Don't feel like such a nutter 🙈😂😂

@PinkFizz1 we find out on Saturday and I cannot wait! We're getting the scan in the morning but asking not to know and we'll buy a cannon thing then having a bbq with our families in the afternoon and we'll all find out together 😁 they don't know it yet though 🙈😂😂

@DogsAndGin what a gorgeous baby 🥰❤️

@tasha4eva10 hope you had a fab birthday 🥰

@Jampot36 the killers were fab weren't they! We seen them in Falkirk last week but they totally bombed Mr Brightside no idea what happened 🙈😂😂

3monkeybars · 13/06/2022 12:36

Hello! I haven't been on this thread too much since the beginning as I'm just exhausted - as trying to explain to my husband recently "it is taking everything I have to exist at the moment". Work are being v patient with me (luckily I WFH most of the time so it's not obvious I have to lie down so often), I just feel so knackered all the time. Hoping now I'm almost 12 weeks this will get better.

We booked a Harmony test for today (so @PinkFizz1 should get sex results in a week or so! I am not a patient person so thrilled to know so soon), it was lovely to see the baby looking more of a baby rather than a dinosaur-shaped blob. Measurements are putting us slightly behind our EDD and is now at 30th Dec, I'll be having an Elective C-Section due to previous sections so if baby comes at 39w I imagine that'll be a 23rd Dec baby! Christmas will look a little different this year!

Does anyone else have a Christmas EDD? Have you started thinking of plans to accommodate a newborn/birth at this time?!

3monkeybars · 13/06/2022 12:37

Oh and a lovely pic of our non-blob baby! S/he started the scan face-down so I had to jiggle around a bit to get it to move - it was amazing.

@DogsAndGin amazing scan picture! Thumb sucking how cute 🥰

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up 😊

15 weeks today and feeling slightly better in terms of energy levels and nausea. However feeling quite full in the belly and pelvic area. Hopefully means baby is growing well!

RhiRhi1996 · 13/06/2022 12:52

@3monkeybars my EDD is 25th December. I am just going with the flow. Whatever happens happens 🤣 we usually just go to my parents for Xmas, who live nearby so no wild plans or anything.

3monkeybars · 13/06/2022 13:03

@RhiRhi1996 it's going to be so different isn't it! We're close to both our parents as well so I'm hoping they'll pop over (with food!) to say hello, and leave us to it

Tofu35 · 13/06/2022 13:52

Found some good dresses in monki at the weekend that really hide that bloaty bump. They're trapeze shaped shirt dresses, fun patterns on them and really baggy so I'm not too conscious of boobs/bloat as the work day goes on. I wear it with leggings, long cardigan and boots. In case anyone is looking for similar wardrobe ideas!

tasha4eva10 · 13/06/2022 14:02

Just come back from my appointment with the obstetrician, could have gone better, she said the midwife didn't assess right and im actually considered VERY high risk. She said she's surprised I have even got to 12 weeks pregnant, I need to be seen by pre term clinic as they think im going end up having the baby prematurely and she can only breath easy when I get to 24 weeks.

I need to have checks on my cervix in 2 weeks time and again 2 weeks after that and I will see the consultant every 3 weeks from 16 weeks pregnant.

I have been put on anti blood clot injections now until after I have had the baby 🙈 and aspirin to hopefully help the placenta form. They said the baby will struggle to grow too :(

BuchananBaby · 13/06/2022 14:11

Wow @tasha4eva10 what a way to scare you! If you don't mind me asking what have they said is wrong? The good thing is they'll be monitoring you every step of the way ❤️

RhiRhi1996 · 13/06/2022 14:36

@tasha4eva10 that is scary news! Fingers crossed for you that all does well for your baby! At least they'll be monitoring closely ❤️

tasha4eva10 · 13/06/2022 15:06

@BuchananBaby I had cancer 2 years ago, this was a surprise pregnancy as I was told I couldn't have more kids due to the treatment so that's why it's now high risk because of the damage by the radiotherapy.

HayleyBean · 13/06/2022 15:16

@3monkeybars - we're due 13/12 and have made no Christmas plans. Both sets of grandparents live within 7 miles of us so hoping they'll just pop in with food, stay for a bit and go. I have no idea what kind of routine we'll be in as it's our first.
I do have a question about breastfeeding though. For everyone who has done it before, how did you do it in public? Part of me thinks I'll just whip my boob out in public and bollocks to what anyone thinks, but on the other hand I know it makes some people uncomfortable. Also I don't think I'd be able to BF in front of my stepdad or father-in-law. It would just feel weird.
@tasha4eva - I've got an appointment with a specialist gynae Dr next week to do with my cervix. I've had a couple of colposcopies and a lletz procedure done to remove pre-cancerous cells on my cervix, so they're worried about it being short and maybe needing a stitch put in to prevent premature labour.

stuntbubbles · 13/06/2022 15:20

@3monkeybars Also looking at a 23rd December ELCS baby! Hoping to move house in late September and our first post-move admin tasks among the chaos are: find DD’s stocking, find the decorations, get her stocking presents wrapped from Father Christmas, sort her gifts, hide it all somewhere DP won’t forget, book the Waitrose “shove it in oven, no prep” Christmas dinner so whether I’m still in hospital or home but immobile, she can have a standard Christmas without too much “wtf what is this crying goblin underneath the tree, send it back”.

stuntbubbles · 13/06/2022 15:28

@HayleyBean I have enormous boobs and could never have managed discreet feeding with those magic tops with the little zip where you just pop a nipple out. Nor could I cope with wrestling a muslin or cover while also trying to retrieve an engorged boob from under layers of clothing, arrange nipple into baby-acceptable shape, sort the latch, get DD latched on and fed… I settled for concentrating on her and me, even if it meant a flash of boob in a public setting. Very quickly stopped caring if it made anyone uncomfortable because (a) no one ever said anything and (b) my comfort and DD’s was of primary importance!

Honestly when the time comes the first few public feeds are terrifying but that’s more to do with it being a new skill to master trying to wrangle newborn and bra and get the latch right while your boobs leak in response to a crying baby and your hormones go “AAAARGH!” Then you quickly forget everyone else around you because you need to feed your kid and it feels good to do so.

I didn’t feel uncomfortable with my dad who was a master at both not staring but also not being weird about it; less so FIL who had no concept of averting his eyes but would also say things like “Ah! OK. I see. Er… Oh, well, I suppose you’re doing that.” and generally causing a scene. Again I quickly got used to boobs being a different mechanism than they used to be, and friends have had the same. A friend squirted me with milk the other day and it was fine, whereas pre-baby we’d never seen each other’s nipples. It’s like you cross a border into a new land in some ways. Then you stop feeding and they revert to boobs again.

Chanel05 · 13/06/2022 15:49

@3monkeybars I have my dating scan on Wednesday but by my private scan I'm due on Christmas Eve. I had an emergency section with my daughter so might choose to go for an elective. If I go for a VBAC, I won't be cooking Christmas dinner, just doing presents and fun for my daughter!

My dd came at 40+2 (by my dates 40+1) so I know there's a chance this baby could be early.

lovesT · 13/06/2022 16:00

@HayleyBean it takes some getting used to but you are protected by law to breastfeed ANYWHERE and no one can tell you not to or to go somewhere else. I have a few breastfeeding tops but basically did one up one down which is wear any top over a vest, pull the top up and vest and nursing bra down then baby feeds, you really can't see anything 😊. It's up to you what feels comfortable of course. I have fed in front of my FIL but my SIL would also breastfeed and he has just got used to it and it's fine for us. Basically feed where you're happiest and most comfortable, get used to feeding at home first and then go to a café or something, especially one with a Breastfeeding sticker in the window is a good place to start as you know they've signed up and will look after you 😊. If someone is uncomfortable they can move, you can concentrate on feeding your baby. You'll get used to it. I hope that helps a bit x

lovesT · 13/06/2022 16:05

Also agree with everything @stuntbubbles said 😊 it just becomes about feeding your baby. It might be helpful to join some breastfeeding groups on Facebook and you'll see how many women are out in public feeding their babies. I didn't mention feeding in front of my dad as he's not around but with other people I've never had and negative looks or comments and I've breastfed for over 2 years x

MrsCrumbtious · 13/06/2022 16:14

Hey everyone! Took a bit of a break as nerves and emotions were getting the better of me. However I’m back and we had our dating scan today.

everything looks fab (even though baby couldn’t keep still 😂) and also measuring further ahead at 13+4. Due on the 15th December 🥰
Hope you’re all well and love seeing all these scans ❤️❤️❤️
