Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@TokenGinger
Congratulations!! We had our little ones on the same day!

I went in for my induction at 12pm on the 10th, got examined and I was already 2cm and softened and my cervix was low down - so at 5pm I had the 24hr insert. By around 11pm I had regular cramping. Despite one night midwife saying it was nothing, the monitor said otherwise so a different staff member took me seriously and requested I get taken up to labour ward. Good thing to. By 1am I was 5cm, on the gas and air. Partner arrived and we headed up. The pushing only took 7mins and at 4:52am my baby girl was born, weighing 7lb4oz ♥️

I was torn up though, I was 7cm when checked at 4:15am but couldn't stop the pushing not long later. So all stitched up internally but otherwise everything went very smoothly. Partner got to cut the cord, something he wasn't able to do for our son. I have never seen a man fall in love so fast, he and her big brother are smitten with her.

Congratulations to everyone with their little ones so far - and best of luck to those still waiting! Not much longer now!

Hi all. I had my baby on the 2nd (due date) and have been trapped in this wonderful baby bubble ever since.

I have been reading all the updates and congratulations to everyone who has had safe arrivals of their little ones. Those still carrying, soak up the last few weeks of pregnancy:)

Love reading all the birth stories so I thought I'd share mine. I was booked in for a sweep on the 3rd which would have been 1 day past due date. A sweep put me into labour with my son so I was super hopeful. New years day I didn't feel myself at all and then contractions started at around 2.30am on the 2nd. They were manageable but close together so we dropped our son off and headed to the hospital. We got there at 7am and I was 4cm. After 4 hours, I had only progressed 1cm so they asked if I'd like my waters broken. This exact same thing happened with my son and I knew as soon as the waters were broken things would ramp up. The midwife struggled to break the sac this time around and she kept catching my cervix which was very painful. Eventually they went and contractions started to get stronger. My partner was fantastic in helping me control my breathing.
After 2 hours I was 7cm and was happy to finally get in the pool (I tried not to go in before hand because it can slow down progress). I had a water birth with my first and I find the water very therapeutic. Very quickly I felt the urge to push and I told the midwives the baby was coming. The pain was so much stronger than my first and I think it was because I had PGP this time.
My beautiful little girl came into the world at 15.07 weighing 7lbs 2oz and I was able to lift her out of the water. She didn't have a name for a week but my son, inspired by spiderman, wanted to call her Gwen. We are Welsh so went with Gwennan which was never on our huge list of names but suits her so much.

I find it so crazy how identical both my births were in terms of timings progress and how it all went.

Gwennan is an absolute delight. She is nursing really well and we have the health visitor coming around today. I'm excited to see how much weight she has gained:)
Good luck (pwb lwc) to all who are approaching their little ones arrivals.

VixenAndKits · 13/01/2023 12:18

@CJones11
Llongyfarchiadau! Gwennan is such a beautiful name. Love the Spiderman connection too 😉 I had Eleri on my list but couldn't quite convince anyone sadly.

Jusmakingit · 13/01/2023 15:02

Update from me : lots of Braxton hicks, on the monitor it doesn’t read high enough to be classed as labour contractions 😩 but defo there are tightening and midwife agreed. My second GD reading came back fine so I’m not classed as having GD woo just literally a waiting game now. Another scan Monday cause baby is quiet and low .

Hope everyone’s ok x

Kerryw93 · 13/01/2023 18:00

Congratulations ladies !!!!!! So pleased everyone is okay and babies are okay.

How are you all feeling?

I am scheduled a C section on the 24th! Baby is obviously still breech, I refused ECV. 11 days and I can't wait to not be pregnant any more 😂

Has anyone else got their newborn booked onto the Harmonie trial? They get a 50% chance of getting a vaccine to protect them against RSV, the main virus that causes bronchiolitis in babies.
My little on has an appointment booked next week and I'm really hoping he gets the jab.

Hey, I've heard about it but not signed up yet as little one is yet to make an appearance . I agree it sounds like a good trial to be a part of as I am definitely concerned about RSV...

VgerEdney · 14/01/2023 01:59

Congratulations to all those who's babies have arrived! I do love reading the birth stories. Also can't stop watching one "Born Every Minute "!
So I, 40 years old and first time mum, little boy to come. 39 weeks and 2 days. Due date 18/01. My boy is constantly going to normal position to breech so who knows how he will end up? Dizzy I guess!
My midwife turned a sweep last weds but had to stop as baby felt normal pressing on my tummy but not hard head when she went in, felt squishy. So managed to get an extra scan for the next day (Thursday). Went in and guess what he had turned again,. Prefect position. However they did think my fluid level was a bit high and my BP a bit elevated. So waited around for a doctor to decide what to do. Than told it was awas actually ok as y and to go home and wait for my planned induction on the due date. I texted my midwife and she offered to do another sweep but I haven't said yes cos I'm worried this baby will carry on somersaulting til he comes out!
So waiting til Weds and will see what happens. I'm to ring in he morning around 9.30 to check if all okay and room for me, but I have a scan pre booked anyways for 10.30 so will go in and see what baby is up to. Depending on that is how we will proceed I guess.
I'd rather try, but if I have to have c section than of course I will. Esp if he is breach at that point.
Phew.
My night sleep is so messed up, I'm waiting til I drop off than try. My tummy is huge and I'm so ready to give birth. My brother's bday is the next day after due date so the 19/01 so he may come than lol.
I'm happy if he comes any time nowish.
Love to you all x

PopsicleHustler · 14/01/2023 07:53

@CJones11 yayyyyy my son was born on 2nd as well 27 hour labour resulted in emergency c section

Jusmakingit · 14/01/2023 10:53

Update from me: my BH have almost entirely gone just random ones now , all my previous pre labour symptoms also stopped. Slept really well last night and didn’t even feel preg and had barely any pelvic pain . … 😩 I just feel completely normal today, normal energy , no emotions or mood swings etc and don’t really feel preg unless baby has a wriggle. So strange !

SouthwestSis · 14/01/2023 11:42

Yeah I'm hearing of a lot of babies poorly with RSV, it's so hard having a newborn arrive in winter!
I actually registered my little boy before he was even born I was so keen haha.
I just put in a provisional date of birth because it took a week or 2 for the study centre to get in touch with me anyway and then another few weeks for the actual appointment date.
Just got to keep him away from all of these viruses until Tuesday now!

Take the good night sleep as a positive!! Hopefully u can enjoy the day of peace until things start to amp up again.

This is my 3rd day of contractions, I am in so much pain. They told me not to go in until they're 3 minutes apart for an hour, lasting a minute. They're currently lasting 1min30 secs every 7 minutes :(

@Bear486 aw lovely news massive congratulations! Enjoy the newborn bubble!

@Eeejjj yep the pressure is getting a lot isn’t it! Fingers crossed not much longer for all of us.

@Jusmakingit hoping tomorrows test goes well for you and you don’t have GD… so close to the end now!

Heres hoping we all get a better night sleep tonight 🙏🙏

Thank you :)

Went in at 5pm Saturday 7th to be induced where upon exam was found to be 2cm dilated. Told they could break my waters so arranged for me to be moved over to the delivery suite in the morning, woke at 4am needing a wee, sat up and my waters went so saved them doing that.

Moved over to the delivery ward around 8am and started on the drip to speed things up. Ended up asking for a epidural a few hours in which is where things then didn't go to plan! Sat me up for the epidural to go in and babies heart rate dropped drastically, que them button pushing and around 9 people come rushing in and it being mentioned going for emergency c section. Thankfully they had me lay down and everything went back to normal so panic over. Tried again and this time all was fine epidural done and baby remained happy. Unfortunately for me the self admisitor epidural wasn't working, so they decided to remove it and re do it with a slightly longer needle. Soon became apparent after an hour this was also ineffective.

By this point I was only 6cms, exhausted and weak from lack of sleep, pain and having fibro my body wasn't coping. It was decided to c section, once they got a spinal in and worked my baby girl was born at 7:59pm. Not how I expected things to go but could have been a lot worse, the hospital and care was 10* my little girl is just perfect. I had a visit from a different anesthetist in the morning for a review, who said it would be looked into why I had two failed epidurals.

I'd definitely do it again, it hasn't put me off. Now knowing what to expect I know how I'd do labour next time round thats for sure though.

H44123 · 14/01/2023 14:55

@CJones11 congratulations! Hope your both well and enjoying this time!

@Jusmakingit a good night sleep sounds amazing… jealous! I have read that before Labour you get a sudden burst of energy and feel good almost like not pregnant so fingers crossed it will be happening soon for you!

@Eeejjj gosh 3 days of contractions I feel for you but your getting there! Hope you’re feeling ok (as good as you can be)!!

@Bear486 love reading the birth stories. So nice to see too even though things don’t go as planned that you can still be happy with how it went in the end. So glad you had good care and both you and baby are well!

Loving getting notifications that updates have been made to the thread and I come on and people are announcing their baby arrivals!

Jusmakingit · 14/01/2023 16:48

@Bear486 very weird reading your birth story as this is what happen pretty much same as me for my first birth but I went three days like that before they realised by my third epidural it didn’t work, the pain etc was immense and I hadn’t slept in those three days and then baby was in to much danger and stopped coming out so they couldn’t do c section so had to cut me and use forceps. I am so glad you got better care and treatment and the anaesthesist came to see you. Took them (NHS) nearly 6 years to tell me why it all went a bit pear shaped and only cause I’m consultant led for this birth.

@H44123 weird enough had some more pressure and aches and pains and literally been asleep since 2ish lol only woken up cause I’m hungry and need a wee, wasn’t really that tired but i feel a lot more hungry since baby has dropped. Lol im glad she’s dropped but get the uncomfortable pressure of the dropping and the lovely feeling of no heartburn and back to constant hunger lol 😂 silver lining and all

Jusmakingit · 14/01/2023 16:51

@Eeejjj i hope the no update is because your in labour or have given birth ! Fingers and toes are crossed x

Kerryw93 · 14/01/2023 17:43

Congratulations!!!! I hope more birth stories by morning lol this has been a good thread to keep us all occupied 😍

H44123 · 14/01/2023 18:39

@Jusmakingit I definitely think your body is getting ready, I think you will be soon eeekkkkkkkkk!

I have no clue if baby has dropped, I think my bump has grown a lot in the last week whereas before it was fairly small. Funny every time I go for a wee, for some reason since a few days ago I am constantly checking to see if I have lost any of the plug people mention or something even though I have felt no different. This means even during the 10 wees during the night, I make sure I turn the light on just in case rather than try stay half asleep 🤣

Kerryw93 · 14/01/2023 18:50

@H44123 funny you should say that because SAME! Even though I know I had no signs with my first daughter of the plug, it just came out fully after a night of braxton hicks ALL night . Still looking for signs she's on her way though.
Even if she is breech haha

Jusmakingit · 14/01/2023 19:51

Omg the plug !! I don’t bother turning the light on at night. Maybe I should lol 😂 I really hope I’m soon. I’m only 37 weeks but so much going on down there. I swear my waters were trickling earlier but no just lots of discharge ugh 😩

H44123 · 14/01/2023 20:15

@Kerryw93 haha glad it’s not just me then! I have no other signs happening really so no idea why I think to check but I am.

@Jusmakingit Im 38 weeks today and you have many more signs than me… I bet it won’t be long for you at all! Urgh yes the discharge… that has definitely increased in the last few days too!

@Eeejjj hope your doing ok and all is going well!

Eeejjj · 15/01/2023 03:06

After 3 days of contractions and staying at home until I was 7cm dilated I finally have my baby girl, weighing 8pounds4oz born at 12:21am. I am so in love and labour with just gas and air is so painful but so amazing.

It feels strange I keep waiting for a contraction to come now, but nothing 🤣. I'm so exhausted but unable to sleep I can't stop looking at her

Good luck to all you Mumma's who are next

Jusmakingit · 15/01/2023 09:43

@Eeejjj Amazing news ! Congrats!!!! Any names yet ? How lovely, now you can sleep haha.

Also the mucus plug .... some pictures online just look like (without blood or brown) like normal thick ovulation mucus which i have had on and off for months ... i read it can regenerate though but I wouldn't know if i had lost it or not. Hate this part of pregnancy :(

H44123 · 15/01/2023 09:56

@Eeejjj Congratulations!!! So happy for you! Hope you’re enjoying this special time!

@Jusmakingit yeah I read similar and alot of people don’t even loose their plug either. Guess it’s just something I’m wonder might give me an actual clue of what’s going on 🤣Had such a better night sleep last night, went 6 hours without getting up for a wee so feel so much better today!

Haha it panics me if I don’t wake up needing a wee. I did twice last night haha 😂 I’m soooo exhausted. Done the minimal clean up round the house and thought I was going to pass out. I’m so warm all the time. I can’t sleep with the cover on either I get too hot 🥵
