Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@RedLipsticks Congratulations! 9cm by the time you got to the hospital wow, was it a quick labour?

I'm the same about hearing about other peoples experiences, I love seeing how everyone experiences pregnancy. Personally for me the sweep with my first wasn't painful at all. I think I was 40 weeks when I had it. I'm 40+5 today due a sweep at 1pm so fingers crossed that starts something. I don't want to get my hopes up though because every twinge these past few days I've started getting excited and then nothing happens! Interesting hearing your experience with the braxton hicks @Eeejjj, I would have thought from what you said it was labour starting but i never experienced them with my first and only a few times this pregnancy so I don't know much about them

@TokenGinger that sounds so fustrating I'd be furious! It's hard enough being pregnant let alone having yourself muddled around at the hospital feeling hungry and uncomfortable, 4 hours is a bloody long time. At least you can know it's coming to the late stages now, things are progressing and hopefully the hospital can be a bit more on the ball no matter how it all pans out

LA9610 · 11/01/2023 09:19

@TokenGinger sorry you’ve had so much messing around! Hope you are nice and relaxed at home while you wait and fingers crossed something happens naturally!

It is sooo weird how different it is for everyone, like you’re already 3cm dilated but no contractions and I was having painful contractions, 3 every 10 minutes for hours lasting a minute each and my cervix was not even open in the slightest?! My cervix was also very high which made the sweep impossible so I think that definitely has an impact. It makes me wonder if I had pushed for a natural delivery how long would it actually have taken and how many days of contractions would I have had! I’d say I have a pretty high pain threshold and my contractions were really painful! I’m sure they’d have got worse but I’d have said definitely a 7 or 8 on the pain scale. It was the frequency and duration of them as well, once it had passed I was pain free but they were so frequent at that early stage which I didn’t expect at all.

TokenGinger · 11/01/2023 14:14

It is so strange how every labour is so different. After the sweep yesterday, I woke up to contractions at 1am this morning. I had lost my mucus plug too when I went to the bathroom. I came to hospital at 5am and I was 6-7cm dilated. It was much, much more tolerable than my birth with DS.

Baby's heart rate dropped and they were struggling to find it, so they had to pop my waters at around 8am to speed up the final 2cm. I told them I needed to push but they kept telling me to hold off because they didn't know if I was far enough. Eventually, I flipped over on to my hands and knees and did a big push and baby flew out 😂 It's a good job my mum was behind me to catch her! She was born at 09:09am weighing 8lb 8oz ❤️

oh my gosh I love this story ! Massive Congratulations!!!! Well done mama ! Boy girl ? Name ? Weight ? Haha details x

Razputini · 11/01/2023 15:28

@TokenGinger huge congratulations! That's lovely to hear it was easier than your first birth, what a relief you must feel now 🥰 enjoy your newborn snuggles

Had my sweep earlier today, been having mild period pains since and (tmi) diarrhea so we'll see what happens but im trying not to get my hopes up because I hear so many experiences where there symptoms after a sweep and then nothing! Apparently my cervix is soft, quite short and about 1-2cm although the midwife said it's common for the cervix to be a little dilated anyway in later pregnancies. Induction booked for the 18th if nothing progresses by then 🙂

H44123 · 11/01/2023 16:12

@TokenGinger massive congratulations! Soo happy for you! Sounds like the sweep worked then and no induction needed. Can’t wait to hear the details!

@Razputini fingers crossed it goes like it did for tokenginger. Makes me feel much more positive about having a sweep in 2 weeks that it could actually work!

TMI from me too… I can’t seem to stay off the toilet either but I don’t have any pains really aside from the electric shocks randomly if baby moves near my cervix. I had a terrible night sleep last night, my stomach hurt a lot but not really period pain types I think I just overate (I had a dominos and didn’t stop 🙄🤣)

Jusmakingit · 11/01/2023 16:30

@H44123 me and you sound like we are on the same symptoms page. I can barely sleep, stomach ache which I can’t tell anymore if it’s braxton hicks or bad tummy cause my erm stools are getting softer by the day and the shocks , pressure and achey lower tummy were baby is dropped but saw midwife today and she doesn’t think it’s any thing …. 🤷‍♀️😳 but my glucose is high so now they need to monitor that lol 😂 I was like ‘enough for an induction ?’ They said no lol damn it.

@Razputini fingers crossed for you as well! Hope the sweep kicks in for you and have your bundle soon! Everything I read says if you have loose bowels that’s a really good sign so I am hopefully we are all nearly there

H44123 · 11/01/2023 16:45

@Jusmakingit 🤣 if only they said yes of course we can start induction! Funny really how it’s got to the point I’m over being pregnant. Last week I was saying I’m pretty ok and in no rush.. now with the lack of sleep and pains/discomfort I’m now done.

If my midwife says tomorrow baby is engaged etc, I’m spending as much time as I can on the birthing ball and trying as many old wives tales as I can to start something!

How ridiculous too.. I’m not even on mat leave yet and I’m going to visit a bloody nursery this evening! Apparently they get booked up quick and I need to secure a place for Nov/Dec time!

PoppyHenry · 11/01/2023 17:16

@TokenGinger massive congratulations xx hope your both well xx

Jusmakingit · 11/01/2023 17:33

@H44123 yes nursery’s around me are booked already up to 2024!!! People aren’t even preg yet lol I’m sure it’s for when they go back to work but still lol Iv got this one booked in with my DDs nursery cause they are amazing and really flexible etc. I booked that space November just gone and baby will start September this year.

Yeah I’m ready now to have this baby

Razputini · 11/01/2023 17:51

@H44123 ah yes I get the cervix shocks too they do give you quite a jump haha. Funnily enough I also overate recently and gave myself an awful stomach ache, also from dominoes! Idk wtf I was thinking, i ate a 16 inch pizza I think it was, my brother suggested I get a bigger size and just save the rest for the next day but my brain just went on automatic and I ate the whole thing and felt soooo sick.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with toilet woes, isn't pregnancy just beautiful 🤣

Jusmakingit · 11/01/2023 18:44

Just wanna rant lol keep having what I feel are period cramping every like 3-5 mins they are regular but not getting any more painful just slightly uncomfortable and clearly noticeable. I just wish I could give someone the same feeling and they tell for certain if it’s nothing or l braxton hicks or something more.

also another annoying thing about pregnancy is , yes you get a due date but honestly , statistically I feel like if you actually give birth on your due date your in the minority. It doesn’t really mean much lol 😂 I’m fed up lol

H44123 · 11/01/2023 20:36

@Jusmakingit I don’t think I will have a clue when they start for me (if they ever do 🙄) unless it’s like in the movies waters breaking etc I don’t think I will know! That’s a scary thought isn’t it, I’m counting down 2 weeks to due date but potentially could be an extra 2 weeks 😱😱

@Razputini haha oh no dominos got you too! Hopefully we learn soon when to stop eatting (I haven’t all my life yet)

I seem to feel sicky and feverish on an evening lately but then morning fine. It’s like having morning sickness all over again except mine was never in a morning just in an evening. Tonight I actually threw up. Off to bed I go for another crap broken nights sleep!

PopsicleHustler · 11/01/2023 21:14

Congratulations @TokenGinger and @RedLipsticks all my love and well done 👏

Jusmakingit · 12/01/2023 07:28

Another sleepless night , the pressure is and pain of my pelvis is getting to me now. It’s so painful and my legs are just so restless or go dead , think I might try sleeping a bit more upright tonight. I know il prolly get more sleep with a baby here lol 😂 another day !

H44123 · 12/01/2023 14:00

@Jusmakingit bad night for me too! I’m not used to sleeping on my side either so that doesn’t help. Plus I have bad hip pain in my right side, I had it before pregnancy so that’s just added to it.

Had my midwife appointment this morning. Baby fully engaged now 😱 which is good yet scary as it’s all starting to get very real. Baby was really active so had a high heart beat, I had to wait 30 mins for another scan and if it hadn’t gone down to straight to hospital but luckily it did and she said it’s normal when baby is moving so much

Eeejjj · 12/01/2023 15:39

Omg im the same! Sleeping is awful lol, and trying to switch sides in the night is even worse. I have to do it in 3 stages and the crack my pelvis makes is awful! I just can't wait to sleep on my back/front lol

I've been having awful braxton hicks today, they really put pressure on my bowels and make me feel like I need to go to the toilet has anyone else experienced this?

Jusmakingit · 12/01/2023 16:27

@H44123 @Eeejjj

i usually sleep on my front or back as well so these last few weeks been stuck on my side is killing my hips.

bowels been crushed is a yes from me lol just generally everything now . I have another consultant appointment tomorrow morning and my midwife found a high amount of glucose in my urine so now if it has the same reading tomorrow then il be diagnosed with GD 🙄 I want to ask them to check my cervix cause the pain and pressure just mean something is going on , no doubt my luck itl be nice a tightly closed lol fingers crossed it isn’t

Bear486 · 12/01/2023 18:17

Small update my little girl arrived just a day past her due date on Sunday 8th, went in to be induced on the 7th but wasn't needed in end thankfully:-)

H44123 · 12/01/2023 20:39

@Bear486 aw lovely news massive congratulations! Enjoy the newborn bubble!

@Eeejjj yep the pressure is getting a lot isn’t it! Fingers crossed not much longer for all of us.

@Jusmakingit hoping tomorrows test goes well for you and you don’t have GD… so close to the end now!

Heres hoping we all get a better night sleep tonight 🙏🙏

Razputini · 13/01/2023 07:05

Hey! My sweep was successful, I had the mild period pains for hours and hours and didn't get a wink of sleep all night, paracetamol wouldn't touch it. Felt like contractions as they came and went but not too intense. By 4:30ish my daughter woke up and I went to go see her and explained the situation to my family who were staying to help out and my partner. Partner timed the contractions which were now about 30 secs long and 3/4 minutes apart so we headed to the hospital. Got checked out and I was 4cm dilated so I headed to a room with a birthing pool, so glad I got to try it as I had wanted to with my first but it was too late! I didn't have any pain relief except gas and air but I didn't really feel like it did anything so I eventually stopped using it by the end.

About 10am the pain really started ramping up, eventually the midwife suggested I get out the pool and check how dilated I was but honestly I was a scared to get out because I didn't want to contractions to ramp up even more on dry land! So I stayed in the pool but it all worked out as 2 minutes or so later I was feeling the urge to push and a little baby girl came shortly after 😁 very glad I hadn't tried to get out so I could push in the water. still not sure on a name but I thought I better get some rest first before I pick something completely absurd in my sleep deprived daze lol

I am so excited to hear everyone's labor stories as more babies start coming!! I think that's two of us now with successful sweeps woohoo

Razputini · 13/01/2023 07:12

@Eeejjj @H44123 @Jusmakingit aw I really hope you all get some better sleep soon, it's so hard to function when you're tired and it gets fustrating when you know you need to sleep but you can't. if it's any reassurance I have just had the best night's sleep in weeks now after the baby, no restless legs, stomach in the way, peeing constantly etc. You guys are all so so close now and you'll finally be able to get a sleep without the annoying woes I promise!

@Bear486 congratulations!!

@Jusmakingit good luck with your glucose test, gah how fustrating :( the last thing you need right now is to have more things to worry about pregnancy is too much stress ugh! fingers crossed it's all fine 🤞

Jusmakingit · 13/01/2023 07:33

@Razputini Yey!!! Congratulations that’s amazing news and I’m so happy for you!

sadly not decent sleep but woke up wide awake a 5 am then started with mild period cramping , finally fell asleep around half 6 and just woke up now. Had a few more cramps but I don’t think it’s labour . I’m jealous of your sleep lol it’s been so windy here over night and one of the neighbors has a fucking wind chime lol 😂

H44123 · 13/01/2023 08:17

@Razputini awwww congratulations!!! I’m so happy you got your water birth you wanted and it all went OK. Such lovely news to wake up to.

Also positive to read about sweeps too and the good night sleep after too! It’s amazing so hear all the babies coming and different stories.

@Jusmakingit 🤣🤣 I don’t know how you didn’t go rip down the wind chime… definitely not what you need! Bad night sleep for me too, wind didn’t help either!

my midwife hasn’t told me at what point to go into hospital yet. Reading up on it I think most say 3 contractions in 10 minutes or when you can’t cope with the pain anymore. I’m sure I will be up there too soon and sent home when it ever happens!

SouthwestSis · 13/01/2023 09:26

Has anyone else got their newborn booked onto the Harmonie trial? They get a 50% chance of getting a vaccine to protect them against RSV, the main virus that causes bronchiolitis in babies.
My little on has an appointment booked next week and I'm really hoping he gets the jab.
