Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@TokenGinger vent away here! As hard as it is try and remember we don’t know whether a lot of things are the right decisions or not but all you can do is go with the advise and make sure your happy with it and not being bullied etc into it. Totally normal to be frightened and nervous but you will get through this with a gorgeous baby at the end! As justmaking it said - speak up for yourself and be confident, it’s your body and baby and if you want it, take all the pain relief you can get!

After reading about inductions and getting myself nervous, I read up on positive inductions and there are plenty of those too!

@Pickle0901 I gave that advice then started over thinking myself 🤣 online shopping for baby clothes incase I didn’t have enough! I think when it gets close you start overthinking. I need to listen to my own advice!

@Jusmakingit back pain is the worst. I get it when I walk maybe 20 minutes max! How nice would that be to have a little break between 🙏 if you don’t ask you don’t get 🤣

3 days overdue here now :( hoping they come soon but I'm also so scared for labour, I was 4 days late with my first. My mum was 2 weeks overdue with all 4 of us though so im not particularily hopeful that we've got the speedy labour genes lol. I started losing my mucus plug 2 days ago and my family came over ready to help out as with my first labor began pretty swiftly after I lost my plug but no sign so far this time aside from some on and off very mild period pains. My sleep is absolutely fucked though... Im waking up every 20-30 minutes and then often can't go back to sleep for another hour. I've not got any pelvis pain but it lets out a HUGE crack everytime I turn over in bed which isn't sore but just makes me go yuck! Honestly just writing this to distract myself as I got a sudden awful wave of tiredness, felt like I might pass out and started seeing stars :( and now my anxiety which had been difficult to handle this pregnancy is making me jittery getting worried if im ok... just trying to relax and take it slow but also I really want to get moving and see if that makes me feel any better. My brother and mum have been staying over since I began losing my plug to help me get some extra sleep in the mornings when my 2 year old wakes and to tire her out during the day. I'm so grateful but also getting really socially drained and the mess of 2 extra people in the house in really stressing me out

I'm 2 days overdue and so over it! I had the sweep on Friday and afterwards I had light period pains for like 2 days and saw my mucus plug/ bloody show... and now NOTHING!! I've been walking and bouncing and now I'm just waiting. I really want it out before than as I'm booked in for an induction on the 17th and would rather not!

I had to have an urgent scan Friday to check baby as my bump looked like it hadn't grown to find the baby is measuring 8 pounds 3 ounces , I'm only tiny!!!

Jusmakingit · 09/01/2023 13:07

@Razputini @Eeejjj

i feel like anyone who goes past the due date , regardless of a day or week should just be induced or c sectioned. It’s a long time being preg and making you go a few more days or week isn’t fair.

I had the pelvic and hip problems since 20 weeks ish and it’s horrible ! Literally cracking, creaking and the grinding constantly it’s not nice and I feel you with lack of sleep , I am really struggling . Mid morning I can barely keep awake and I constantly get restless legs or just dead legs from the pressure etc.

sending positive vibes and labor vibes !

Razputini · 09/01/2023 14:25

@Eeejjj ah it's nice to talk to someone who can relate ATM! I totally feel you on the inductions, fingers crossed you go into labour sooner. I hear so many conflicting experiences on them it's hard to know what to expect. It's so disheartening getting the plug, getting excited/nervous then finding nothing is happening as well. Glad your scan went well and baby is growing well! 8lbs wow!

@Jusmakingit it does really feel like it's dragging on! And geez I can't imagine having the pelvic stuff since 20 weeks, I've barely had it any time at all in comparison, you must be so frustrated. It's just such a yucky sensation. Sorry I've not kept too up to date with the thread, when are you due/have you had your little one yet?

Jusmakingit · 09/01/2023 18:34

@Razputini sadly I’m only on week 36 but having regular scans etc cause I’m high risk. Had a scan today and baby apparently is engaged - downside apparently they can be engaged in the pelvis from week 28 lol so im not holding my breathe for anything major to happen . What about yourself (sorry if you’ve said)

RedLipsticks · 09/01/2023 19:29

Just wanted to pop in and say I had my baby on the 3rd via EMCS! She was 18 days early, I was 37+3 and 9cm dilated by the time I got to hospital! Hope all you ladies still waiting are ok! There’s nothing like holding them in your arms for the first time 🥰

Eeejjj · 09/01/2023 20:48

I have a question regarding contractions. This is my first pregnancy so obviously I'm overthinking!

I was previously having braxton hicks which were painless and was just tight mainly at the top of my belly.

This evening I'm experiencing the same, my belly tightens except from the most bottom part and it includes a really dull ache. Could this be the start of contractions or more braxton hicks ?

@TokenGinger how are you getting on?

@Eeejjj sorry I have no clue as a first timer too! I don’t really think I have experienced any braxton hicks yet or if I have I have been unaware. The odd lightning shock down below but that’s it. Has it progressed further overnight?

I saw you recently had a sweep, I think I will get one in 2 weeks when I’m 39+4, what was it like? Did it hurt?

@RedLipsticks massive congratulations on the birth of your baby! Hoping you’re enjoying the baby bubble!

TokenGinger · 10/01/2023 08:49

@H44123 Hey lovely, thank you for checking in. Yesterday was a non-starter. I was booked in for 12. My letter said 12. I got there, and they said you were booked for 11. I said well the doctor told me 12 and my letter says 12. The doctor had also not booked me in for a scan so they had to find someone who could scan me. They found someone but that wasn't done until around 1-1.30. Then they couldn't find me a bed as the one that had been booked for me at 11 had long since gone. I was saying to them, I'm really not bothered, I'm happy to go home, just please don't have me sat here for hours on these awful chairs to then send me home anyway. Which is exactly what they did. After four hours, they said we've booked you back in for tomorrow (today) at 11 😩

I wasn't even mad, just tired and uncomfortable and fed up. I totally get that administrative errors happen and that the doctors are busy and there are traumas they have to respond to on the day and that I was low importance, but I was just so bloody tired and hungry sat there waiting for nothing.

So we try again today! Xx

Jusmakingit · 10/01/2023 09:05

@TokenGinger Good luck for today !! Hopefully it wont be a repeat of yesterday! Are you having a boy or girl ? I dont think i saw if you posted.

Yesterday I had a growth scan as my fundal was way of the chart but my growth scan is perfect and as it should be so no concerns, i think they said around 5.5lbs so not too bad. Had a lot of pressure, pain in cervix etc and the midwife said babies head is very low and engaged but over night and today nothing, not even a twinged lol damn it !

H44123 · 10/01/2023 09:36

@TokenGinger oh no how frustrating! Well they should definitely be expecting you today, hoping it’s all goes well for you! I would be the same as you, getting more annoyed to go back home but if they just said that in the first place it’s not so bad. Good luck ❤️

@Jusmakingit fingers crossed you start getting some action today and things start happening for you! It’s just so long this waiting game and the unknown! Great news re growth scan and all looking good too!

lilroo87 · 10/01/2023 10:27

@Eeejjj yes it could be the start of your contractions. It's a weird thing but with my first everyone said "you'll know when they start" and somehow you just do haha!

@TokenGinger oh what a mess. Hopefully you get seen properly today!

I'm back home in Cornwall now, got home Sunday and I still haven't found time to unpack everything yet. I have had so many phone calls and visits from health visitors/midwives here and where DS was born, it's been quite full on.
Luckily he's doing really well, he'll be getting weighed tomorrow so fingers crossed he's back up to his birth weight. I've managed to get him breastfeeding which I'm happy about as he started his life on a tube and then bottles only so he's doing really well!

I didn't realise I was experiencing braxton hicks until I did some research I thought it was the baby just pushing out!

And for me personally, the sweep was very painful but my cervix was still high up which was probably why! I think it's different for everyone depending on who does etc x

I was wondering this. So if your cervix is short and ‘ripe’ do you think that makes the birth easier / less painful ? I’m thinking with my induction last time cause it was so rushed my cervix wasn’t ready

Eeejjj · 10/01/2023 12:50

@Jusmakingit I would say so, the actual 'sweeping' wasn't painful for me just uncomfortable that I could feel it. But it was more so, her feeling and finding I think that made the pain almost unbearable

Jusmakingit · 10/01/2023 14:30

@Eeejjj interesting ! I like finding out about these little pieces of info etc , it’s fascinating. I think cause labour is so varied and everyone has a different experience it’s hard to find information , it’s all so ‘it could be or it could not be’.

sorry for TMI but my stomachs been a bit of a mess, defo this past week my erm ‘stools’ have become soft to almost like water … lovely I know and my horrific heartburn started again yesterday 😩🙃 which apparently are both signs of pre labour . Fingers crossed but Il just add it to the list of all the other symptoms I’m having and then nothing happening lol 😂

Lol fingers crossed it's the start!! I've started to get acid reflux and heartburn a lot, as for the stools, I feel like I struggle to go toilet because the baby is right on my bowels but as soon as I go it is a lot softer than usual.

Hopefully this is the start for the both of us! How far along are you?

Jusmakingit · 10/01/2023 16:00

@Eeejjj only 36+5 :( I hope this one is early . My last was induced at 37+3 so my body might be thinking it will get a head start incase I’m induced again lol the tummy thing is weird cause my bowels are all over the place but I constantly have stomach ache 😣

when are you due ?

H44123 · 10/01/2023 16:24

@Jusmakingit I love finding out all the info too, it’s so interesting how everyone’s pregnancies and Labour can be so different! And for me it’s all the unknown too! Definitely sounds like your body is getting ready and as you said maybe your body is used to giving birth earlier anyway!

@Eeejjj fingers crossed mine is ready for the sweep in 2 weeks then!

@TokenGinger hope everything is going well for you!

@lilroo87 glad your all back home ok, I know you were worried about the journey! Great news about his feeding too, you must be so happy!

I had bad heartburn even before becoming pregnant but it did get worse. I got omeprazole tablets from the GP I take once a day which has made a huge difference. However I still have to be mindful not to eat too late, stop when I’m full (I’m greedy I used to continue eatting even when I’m actually full) and eat when my food has cooled down a bit.

TokenGinger · 10/01/2023 17:25

@H44123 Thank you for thinking of me. I went back in today and they were just so busy. I felt so sorry for the staff. I offered to go home after I'd been waiting two hours to be seen but they said if I did go back home and back later in the week, I'd need another scan etc and start the process over again. I got a bed after that, and they did the monitoring on baby which was all fine, then did a cervical examination before the pessary. However, when she did the cervical examination, she said I'm already 3cm dilated and the purpose of the pessary was to get me to 2cm so that they could break my waters, so as I'm already there, they couldn't do the pessary.

Whilst she did the examination, she did a sweep which was bloody awful. Despite being 3cm, my cervix is still high so suspect this contributed to the pain. Since then, I've had a really dull ache in my area.

So the next part of the plan is to break the waters, but there's a 48-72 hour wait to get on to the delivery ward for that so they've let me come home and they'll call when it's my turn. They said my waters may well go on their own in that time or I might start having contractions (which is what I want to be honest, as I'm not sold on an induction). So fingers crossed she makes her way before I get called in for the next stage!

How are you all doing? I'm reading each of your posts still, I'm just a bit slow at replying as the signal in hospital has been so poor.

@VixenAndKits How did your induction go today? I hope you're a little further along than me and all is okay xx

H44123 · 10/01/2023 18:55

@TokenGinger that sounds like it’s worked out better for you? You’ve been able to go home and fingers crossed your waters go on their own! Definitely better than waiting in hospital for a few days! And you’re at 3cm already!

Try get as much rest as you can at home!

TokenGinger · 10/01/2023 20:08

Definitely ❤️ I'm glad I've been able to come home and that she has a few days to make her appearance on her own, and if that doesn't happen, then I have the peace of mind of knowing that we'll be called in in a few days' time to finish the induction process xx
