Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@VgerEdney I'm so sorry you've got Covid! I hope you're starting to feel a little better ❤️

@LA9610 It sounds like we're experiencing similar symptoms so maybe it's just part and parcel of this journey. I'm having the rush for the loo symptoms, too! For Christmas, we're going to take it easy and have the dinner at our house and my mum, granddad and brother will come to join us. My little brother is going to help cook the meats so I have the easier job of just sorting the potatoes and veg. If by any chance I go into labour very early, then they can let themselves into my house (one of them would have to be here for DS anyway) and help themselves to food 😂 What are your plans for the day?

@H44123 OMG, picking up the pram etc makes it feel all the more real! I had our pram in for steam cleaning last week so I've had that back now so it's ready for her to arrive. You've just made me realise I haven't packed a dummy yet, nor have I got a steriliser so I need to do an Amazon job for that, I think! Although DS didn't take a dummy and I didn't take one to hospital for him so I'm not sure if I need to or not. I didn't take any towels for DS, or myself actually last time! I forgot one for me but looking at his photos, he was wrapped in a hospital towel when he arrived.

@PoppyHenry Oh wow!! Congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby boy! I hope he's thriving and that you're doing okay, too xx

I got my bag mostly packed yesterday so that feels like a huge weight off my mind. Last time, I took a cabin-sized case for DS, and an overnight bag for me but then when people brought me extra things, I ended up with a carrier bag too and it ended up a pain to take everything down to the car along with DS when leaving, so this time I've opted for just one medium-sized suitcase so it only takes one hand to wheel down. I've used packing cubes that we usually use for holiday. In my cube, I've managed to fit in two pairs of pyjamas, a night dress, two leggings, three t-shirts, four bras, six pairs of knickers and three pairs of socks and there's still space in there. Baby's is smaller, but have got six babygrows, five vests, two pairs of socks, five muslin cloths and a knitted cardigan in hers. Then another for my toiletries. Then the case is almost full from my towel, a pack of nappies, box of milk if we need it, cotton wool, wipes, maternity pads. It's amazing how much space they take up! Still a few things to add in but I feel better knowing if I had to leave in the next 10 minutes, we'd make do with what we have in there x

Hi all,

@VgerEdney hope your feeling better soon!

I am 33 weeks now, just picked up the pram and car seat this weekend so starting to get the room ready. Slowly making my way through washing everything. Stupidly started ironing baby clothes, I will not be doing that again 🤣 it’s never ending!

Also starting to pack a hospital bag but I don’t know whether I need to pack some nipple shields as I want to try breastfeed? I have
some nipple cream to take and 2 dummies, is that enough dummies? I have the tommee tippee newborn ones and will sterilise before and put in a case. Sorry I am totally clueless with this being my first time!

thanks xx

If you are wanting to try and breastfeed I'd wait to see if nipple shields are needed before you introduce them. Also, dummies are not recommended when starting out on your breastfeeding journey as it can alter babies latch to thr breast. Best thing I did was request the stay the first night in hospital or breastfeeding support, I really believe that's why I continued for so long because it is difficult but worth it!

PoppyHenry · 12/12/2022 19:50

@CJones11 we are now thank you the team of medical staff have been incredible and our beautiful boy didn’t need any help weighing 5lb 1oz xx
cjones hope hope your are well x

What a wonderful weight😇 are you going to be home anytime soon?

icecreamgirl94 · 13/12/2022 14:19

@PoppyHenry congatulations! ❤️ How exciting that the babies are starting to arrive 🥰

PoppyHenry · 13/12/2022 14:33

Thank you everyone for your well wishes xx
@CJones11 currently we are in translational care my husband and I are allowed to stay and we are being supported to establish feeding it just small steps currently he has a tube and is taking some off the breast x

H44123 · 13/12/2022 15:23

@PoppyHenry great news both you and your husband can stay and baby is taking some from the breast. Wishing your family all the best!

@CJones11 thank you. I think I will leave the shields at home and take 1 dummy just incase - anything to lighten the load of what to take!

My dad is pretty much done now, picked up some pre-made formula today just in case so starting to look at doing baby’s bag. How many sleepsuits are you all taking? I’m thinking majority newborn size with a few up to 1 months incase 🤷🏻‍♀️ then probably the same for bodysuit/vests underneath. Don’t know whether to take long sleeve ones or short sleeve ones as I think might be too hot inside hospital if baby is in a long sleeve bodysuit and a sleepsuit on top!

thanks for all your help and advice ladies it is much appreciated!!!

H44123 · 13/12/2022 15:23

Sorry meant to say

my bag** not my dad 🤣🤣

TokenGinger · 13/12/2022 15:47

@H44123 I was thinking, your dad is very organised! 😂 I've had the same dilemma with bodysuits. At the moment I have packed 5 long sleeve ones but I remember the heat was stifling when I had my DS (though he was born in a heatwave and it was very hot outside) so I don't want her to be too hot so I'm not sure if I need to switch to short sleeve.

I've packed 6 newborn sleepsuits at the moment. I think I'll also do another packing cube to leave in DP's car of some 0-3 just in case (she's measuring big) rather than overload my case. Although maybe I should just put them in so we have them. It's so hard to know what to take. I feel like I'm packing for a holiday 😂

H44123 · 13/12/2022 15:57

@TokenGinger haha I blame typo 🙄

this packing malarkey is ridiculous, you don’t want to overpack but then you don’t want to run out! I think I might opt for majority short sleeve bodysuits for underneath as it will be hot in the hospital but like you might have a few extra in the bag in the car. The spare bag in the car is just getting bigger and bigger now though 🤣🤣🤣 I just really don’t want to look ridiculous turning up with so many things! Xx

TokenGinger · 13/12/2022 16:53

😂😂😂 I feel the same! I think I might do the same, swap out the long sleeve for short sleeve and just pack a few. I was only in one night with DS and we used all five sleepsuits by the time DP picked us up because he was either sick on himself or his widgey was out of control and he'd pee any time I changed his nappy and I just had no idea how to avoid it 😂

H44123 · 13/12/2022 18:21

@TokenGinger i have a feeling that will happen to me. We are having a boy and I think it will take me a while to learn to change the nappy quickly and without him weeing everywhere! Plus I have ZERO baby handling experience. Many people have warned me about the weeing mid nappy change 🤣

It’s just so unknown isn’t it, how long to pack and prepare for. I think if they say I could go home without staying the night I will ask to stay at least one night to get as much help and advice as possible. Plus I have such a low pain threshold I am going to ask for every type of pain relief I can get and a few people said this means they keep you longer too!

Well done to you for getting such a tiny being to be able to suckle at the breast, what an achievement🥰 so glad you're all allowed to stay together!
If you need to vent any time, because postpartum is hard enough without the added challenges you'll face with a prem babe, just remember we hear you!xx

Kerryw93 · 13/12/2022 20:20

@PoppyHenry massive congratulations!!! Hope you and baby are all okay! So exciting to see an arrival in this thread! I can't wait to see all the announcements! Xx

PoppyHenry · 13/12/2022 20:22

Thank you all for your kind words and support throughout I know we are extremely lucky and I feel blessed the medical team where there when they where xx
cant wait to hear all your announcements xx

VgerEdney · 13/12/2022 23:44

@TokenGinger , thank you. I haven't as actually been feeling that bad throughout this COVID, hence why I thought just a cold or reaction to heating/different temps! I have had my vacs and both boosters tho so that's why not so bad now!?
I'll test tomorrow afternoon as I have a hospital app Thursday for my anesthetic app.
My tummy has felt pretty hard at times and I felt like I had some period like pain so I wonder if I had some Braxton Hicks? No idea as this is my first pregnancy!
@PoppyHenry , so happy your baby has arrived safely!!
@H44123 thank you, I am , just had enough of being pregnant now! I did the ironing thing but gave up now!

PopsicleHustler · 14/12/2022 06:51

Morning ladies,

I'm still so rough atm. I was in A&E On Saturday from 11am to 9PM. I have been very poorly now over a week. It's been awful with my asthma and chest, lost voice, burning throat, coughing up phlegm, tight chest, heavy breathing, weak, dizzy, no appetite. I am slowly getting back to normal after being given a 7 day course of antibiotics which finished this saturday when I am 37+1.

I mentioned before I was able to book my 36 week scan again. That's a growth scan and consultant for tomorow where they will discuss with me if they want me to be induced as little man is measuring a few weeks ahead.
All I need to do now is sort out the snack bag for hospital and I am done.
I am just so drained from this illness and I have no appetite. Even chocolate tastes gross. I can't even believe I can say that as I literally am the queen of chocolate
The only thing that doesn't taste so terrible is chips, so I hope my appetite comes back soon. I just really hope I am well in time and my voice is back as i really dont want to be whispering to midwives.
I've currently got all my kids home, sick too, flu and chest infections and nasty coughs all round. Waheyy! Not.

So happy to hear Poppyhenry has had her new baby.

Who's due date is next? I'm 6th Jan.

LA9610 · 14/12/2022 08:06

@PopsicleHustler sorry to hear you are so poorly 🙁 really hope that passes soon, sounds like you’ve had it long enough by now!

My due date is 3rd Jan, had my 37 week appointment yest, FH measurement is 36 and baby is 4/5 engaged, midwife said definitely head down now and shouldn’t go breech now which is a relief. Booked in for a sweep on the 27th Dec at my 39 week appointment. Really need to finish sorting out my hospital bag, husband keeps telling me off but I just keep procrastinating 🙈

@TokenGinger we are going to my sisters on Christmas Day which is going to be a mental squeeze as there’s 18 of us and she lives in a 3 bed semi but we will make do! We hosted last year but I specifically said no this year as I don’t want people in my house if I weren’t here (even family 😂) as it would be me having to clean up after it and I just want my house all nice and organised at that point incase anything happens!

CJones11 · 14/12/2022 16:26

@LLA9610 oh wow, I wish I was being offered a sweep at my next appointment. They won't give me one until the 3rd of January. If I weren't in so much pain I really wouldn't mind.

I'm due on the 2nd of January and had my appointment yesterday. It is a bit of a nightmare if I'm honest because we are moving to a new area next week so will be seeing a new community midwife. FH was 38 and baby still feels very big. Also 2/5th engaged which explains the pressure.

The past 24 hours Ive been having tightening every 20-25 minutes. They aren't getting stronger or closer together but are constant so I'm feeling very irritated and tired in work today. My last day is Friday and it can't come quick enough.

Still struggling with name ideas. Be so lovely to hear everyone's safe arrival announcements on here over the coming weeks!

H44123 · 14/12/2022 18:50

Evening all,

Im due 28th Jan so feel like I have ages to go yet which I probably need to try get my head around that we are having a baby, still doesn’t feel real.

I have no idea in terms of position or size of baby etc, had a midwife appointment today and they just measured my belly and listened to heartbeat and seemed happy with everything 🤷🏻‍♀️ Baby is moving a lot though and tends to hurt under the right side of my ribs quite a bit which makes sitting difficult.

@PopsicleHustler how are you doing? Hope you’re all feeling better! So many bugs/viruses around at the moment so many people are ill.

lilroo87 · 14/12/2022 19:06

@H44123 we have the same due date and it does feel a while away.
In your maternity notes there should be a section that says about babies position: might say cephalon or something like that and then numbers out of 5 if baby is head down to tell you how far down they are.
With my DD she was always head down and this pregnancy is aswell but last time it was 4/5 so quite far out.
I don't remember my DD moving to 2/5 until a couple of weeks before 37 weeks but then she was born 39+5 without warning really.

H44123 · 14/12/2022 19:26

@lilroo87 thank you… you have given me more info/guidance than my own midwife 🤣suppose I should think to ask myself details like that when I’m there though!

Im happy for the 6ish weeks we have left as I’m not too uncomfortable yet although I think that might change closer the time.

I have started putting his clothes into the drawers in the room after finally washing and stupidly ironing them. Panicked when I looked thinking I don’t have that many and panic bought some online!! Might send them back when they turn up though

lilroo87 · 14/12/2022 20:13

@H44123 🤣 I remember not knowing anything with my first and googling so many things she'd written in my notes cause I never thought to ask.
Getting more organised than me. I've got clothes but not unpacked them anywhere, still haven't been and bought newborn nappies yet. 😂
I am pretty uncomfortable already but doesn't help that my DD is teething so is in bed with me a lot for cuddles and I just can't get comfy so end up with insomnia. I've also got some pretty horrific tooth pain, I got it with my first aswell and my gums were awful. I have some teeth that hospital want to remove but he refuses to do it until after baby is born due to one of them breaking pretty badly and possibly needing to be put under which I'm dreading 😕

H44123 · 14/12/2022 20:31

@lilroo87 ouch toothache is the worst pain ever… really feel for you but just remember as bad as it is at the dentist, to become pain free it is worth it! Hopefully it eases up and gives you a break for these last few weeks 🤞

I had a little panic when I looked at clothes for baby as I don’t have too many cardigans, a few of each size but I think he won’t wear them when at home anyway as I will put the heating on (spend a fortune on that instead 🙄) Guess with it getting so close now I’m over thinking things. My partner has told me to stop buying because the bins are literally full now and likely have alot more to add after Xmas haha!

PopsicleHustler · 15/12/2022 06:19

Woohoo, its my 36w scan and consultant today to know if I am being induced at 37 weeks. And I am 37w tomorrow. Sooooooo excited!

lilroo87 · 15/12/2022 08:11

@H44123 I found some orajel which helped last night, just tried to be careful with it as it has benzocaine so didn't want to use too much.

Haha, it's so easy to panic buy and then end up with too much. 🤣 I was like that with my first. Luckily the majority of newborn clothes we got were neutral colours but then all the gifts from people were pink haha.
You will end up with so much stuff as people will probably buy bits aswell.

@PopsicleHustler good luck, hope it goes well x
