Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

Hi all.
For those who have had other children, did you ever get a feeling you were going to go into labour before your due date and it actually happen?

I'm now 36 weeks and convinced I won't make it until the full 40 weeks. I thought my waters were leaking last week so went into be checked. Part of me is so over this pregnancy and can't wait for it to be over whereas the sensible part of me knows we aren't ready for the new arrival yet (still renovating).

Just need a place to moan freely right now 🙃

lilroo87 · 05/12/2022 19:56

@CJones11 no, I had no idea. I always kept getting "feelings" that she was on her way but I was just thinking every twinge I felt was maybe it.
I actually woke at 3am needing a wee and then realising it was contractions. She was born 2 days before her due date

I was the same with my first, no idea when he would arrive but knew instantly when labour had began.

I think I'm just so fed up this time around I'm subconsciously hoping for it to be sooner rather than later. Maybe once I finish work I'll feel better 🤞

lilroo87 · 05/12/2022 20:26

@CJones11 fingers crossed. I'm definitely feeling more fed up this time. Everything aches more than I remember and I can feel him more in my tummy (like an ache at times) that I don't remember with my DD and she was born last year so it wasn't long ago.
Hopefully they'll make an appearance soon for you x

CJones11 · 05/12/2022 21:08

@llilroo87 totally get what you mean about the ache. My first was born in May so the weather was so nice during the last few weeks. Plenty of walks and sunshine to improve my mood haha!
The Christmas period is so stressful by itself...

icecreamgirl94 · 05/12/2022 21:13

@lilroo87 oh you’re so lucky, yes they’re very annoying! Sometimes they’re just tightenings around my belly but other times they’re shooting pains down my back and across my belly, they’ve been constant for nearly a week now 😩
@CJones11 I didn’t know at the time but I can see the signs in hindsight. I felt so uncomfortable and had to keep walking about for most of the day before I realised I was in labour late afternoon. DS was 3 weeks early and everyone had told me the first is usually late so I wasn’t expecting him at all at that point. I still have 7 weeks to go which I’m telling myself could be only 4 if this one is early too, but I’m feeling so fat and uncomfortable now. I keep seeing my reflection in shop windows and I look ridiculous! 😂

PopsicleHustler · 08/12/2022 06:56

I am so sick, ladies. I am worried I won't be able to make it to the growth scan tomorrow as I have the flu, sore throat and a chest infection

Am absolutely weak, shaking, tingly feelings in my legs, not able to sleep, sore throat, a cough that is giving me a headache, lost voice, trembling and shaking, tight wheezy, running nose, headache. I've now lost my voice too.

I'm so upset because this scan is my 36w and then if baby still measuring ahead then I will be booked in for an induction at around 37w. My consultant is only at the hospital on a friday morning, I've got all my children sick with flu, chest infections and vomiting also. So I am really stuck.

Somatronic · 09/12/2022 08:25

@PopsicleHustler you poor thing! How are you today? Will you make the appointment?

PopsicleHustler · 09/12/2022 09:39

@Somatronic thanks for your reply and your care.
My husband had to ring for me as my voice is completely gone and I managed to rebook the appointments for both scan and consultant for the day exactly before 37 weeks. Eek. So let's hope all goes well. Next week !!!!!!

Still feeling absolutely awful. Having up and down temperatures and a really horrible sore throat and a painful cough. I feel like I have glass in my throat. I feel weak and I am only eating once in the night. Because I have zero appetite and I don't even feel hungry. My kids are all off sick too

I hope you are doing well and how many weeks are You?

Somatronic · 09/12/2022 09:57

@PopsicleHustler I'm glad you could get it rescheduled so that you can get some rest. Sounds horrible-you poor thing. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm 36+1 today. I'm under a consultant and get scans every hospital visit so the next one is on Monday. Baby has been normal sized so far so I'm expecting the same (I'm not I'm UK so I don't get told percentiles or any of that, just that the baby is the right size).

Have had absolutely horrendous rib pain for a few months now, which is my main problem. If that would go away I'd be as happy as Larry!

PopsicleHustler · 09/12/2022 10:43

Yeah, little man here is kicking me right up in the ribs but it comes and goes, not like your few months which sounds pretty rough to go through. @Somatronic he's wriggling around a lot on my cervix which is giving me period pain type cramps and he often uses my bladder as a trampoline!

TokenGinger · 11/12/2022 17:05

How are you all doing, ladies? Is anybody getting any signs baby might arrive early? I'm not sure if mine are signs as such, but I'm struggling so much with pains. My pelvis is killing me, the midwife said her hair is literally resting on the pubic bone and she either needs to sink down further or move haha. Also, I'm getting a lot of stomach pains which I assume is Braxton Hicks. Especially if I've overdone it. We went for a short walk (an hour maximum) around the Christmas markets on Friday and I struggled so much, and after that was when I was getting the stomach tightening and sharp pains in my foof.

I am still only 34+5, 35 weeks on Monday so a while to go yet. I just really hope she lets us get to Christmas at least.

VgerEdney · 11/12/2022 20:23

Hey all, Xmas and baby due dates getting closer for us all. Hope all is okay with you guys!
Sadly after three days suffering with a cold and being 34 weeks pregnant with first child at 40. 35 weeks on weds. I went to work today and had to go for a visit to pharmacy and got a COVID test and for my first time after am positive! Had all my vacs and both boosters hence why I thought it was a cold. Not feeling great but now off work. I had both my work Xmas free meals last night and went to both. Now after telling everyone to get tested just in case I got a woman from the first work place moaning at me, saying she vulnerable but hasn't had any boosters at all. I didn't know someone in my second work crew may have COVID and I never thought it would be that or I wouldn't have gone to work let alone work party's!!!
I left that what's app social work chat as I don't need any more drama from her at this moment. Has any one got advice on pregnancy and COVID?? I got told to take paracetamol and as I'm already on blood thinners I'm okay. I take two aspirin and also self injection for blood clots daily.
I'm now resting up.

LA9610 · 11/12/2022 20:42

Hi @TokenGinger i don’t know if its signs or just normal at this stage (37 weeks on Tues) but I’m also starting to feel more pelvic pain, lightening crotch and just a lot of pressure down below. It’s actually making me go to the toilet a lot more which is not a complaint because I’ve low iron so im used to going like once every 2-3 days because of the iron tablets but now it’s twice every day but it comes on suddenly!

Walking is getting uncomfortable for me too, I either feel like I need to piss the whole time or just have pain in my pelvis and I’m sore afterwards. I have a dog though so don’t have much choice but to get out and walk him at least once a day! I don’t think I’ll go early though! For some reason just have it in my head I’ll be late! What have you planned for Christmas?

@VgerEdney sorry to hear you’ve got Covid! I don’t have any advice but none of the vaccines or boosters prevent you getting it at all, they just are meant to minimise the symptoms so you don’t get seriously unwell. Seems a bit odd that someone who is vulnerable wouldn’t get the boosters though, that’s on her! Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve still not even packed my hospital bag, really need to get my finger out 😂 my husband doesn’t get back from work until Wed so I think I’m just not even willing to consider anything happening until he gets back 🙈

H44123 · 12/12/2022 14:03

Hi all,

@VgerEdney hope your feeling better soon!

I am 33 weeks now, just picked up the pram and car seat this weekend so starting to get the room ready. Slowly making my way through washing everything. Stupidly started ironing baby clothes, I will not be doing that again 🤣 it’s never ending!

Also starting to pack a hospital bag but I don’t know whether I need to pack some nipple shields as I want to try breastfeed? I have
some nipple cream to take and 2 dummies, is that enough dummies? I have the tommee tippee newborn ones and will sterilise before and put in a case. Sorry I am totally clueless with this being my first time!

thanks xx

PoppyHenry · 12/12/2022 18:15

PoppyHenry · 12/12/2022 19:50

@CJones11 we are now thank you the team of medical staff have been incredible and our beautiful boy didn’t need any help weighing 5lb 1oz xx
cjones hope hope your are well x

LA9610 · 12/12/2022 22:39

@H44123 that’s a good question, I wasn’t planning to take any dummies just because I used the nhs checklist for baby bag and they weren’t mentioned! I’d say 2 sounds enough though?!

By nipple shields do you mean breast pads? If so yea def take them as you can still leak in between feeds and you wouldn’t want your bras and clothes to have big wet patches!

@PoppyHenry congratulations! Glad to hear all is well, enjoy the newborn cuddles!

H44123 · 12/12/2022 22:52

@PoppyHenry massive congratulations! So glad to hear all is well! Enjoy this special time

@LA9610 I will take some breast pads but I meant the nipple shields? Some people say take them but others say don’t as they may confuse the baby. They are only small so I may do just in case. I think I have packed my case, I will take a small cabin size case which has everything for me, then a hold-all type for baby plus a carrier bag type thing for snacks with a backup bag kept in the car with extras like nappies, pads etc

Going to make a start on the baby bag tomorrow. Does anyone know whether I need to take a towel for baby? I’m taking a black one for me.

Also debating getting a tens machine, just don’t know if I would use them and they are just another expense!

thanks ladies xx

PopsicleHustler · 13/12/2022 06:47

Congratulations @PoppyHenry lovely news. I hope all is well and you're recovering fine.

YES at H44123 take towels for baby that's what he or she will be wrapped up in when first born :)

lilroo87 · 13/12/2022 08:53

Congratulations @PoppyHenry! How lovely having baby here already before Christmas. Glad that you are both ok and that he didn't need any help!

@H44123 I did take a towel for baby but I don't remember using it.
I didn't take dummies or nipple shields either, I just attempted breastfeeding without and it was tough for the first few weeks but I had a great maternity support worker who came out to me every day to help me get the latch right.
My DD never took a dummy until she 12 months, haha.
I'm also 33 weeks but haven't even started packing a bag. I'm visiting family for Christmas so will be packing a small bag for that trip but was planning on leaving my main bag for when we're back. Seems mad really cause I had my bag packed at 30 weeks with DD but I think I'm a bit more relaxed this time as I'm hoping to have a home birth. It will probably be the wrong decision but maybe he'll come early cause I'm not prepared.

H44123 · 13/12/2022 09:04

@lilroo87 probably because we have been busy with Christmas coming up. Bizarre I am so unorganised this time as that is so not me, I would have said I would have been packed by 25 weeks but nope!

Hopefully he doesn’t come early and if you are home anyway it will be easier for you to get things as and when you need them.

My partner thinks I am crazy having 3 bags but I don’t know how else to do it 🤣 I have never been known to pack light anyway. I can’t believe how quick time has gone though and we are so close to them being here.

xx

lilroo87 · 13/12/2022 09:08

@H44123 haha, yes I'm normally so prepared because I hate rushing last minute.
I'm hoping he holds out until we are back home cause I don't really fancy giving birth early 300 miles away from home.
My midwife is doing a home visit this Saturday, apparently she likes to do them anyway but this will also be to check out the house for access and which room/s I could give birth in.

3 bags seems a lot but there is so much to take and you might not end up using most of it, I had a huuuuge duffel bag that fit all mine and baby stuff in. Then a bag of snacks. My DP had a small bag with a couple of fresh clothes in incase he needed it aswell but I think he left that one in the car.

H44123 · 13/12/2022 09:57

@lilroo87 I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I am going to ask about visits. Someone I know due around the same time as us had a home visit recently but maybe because it will be a home birth as I haven’t had anything mentioned to me as yet.

I kind of have it in my head that he won’t be early, but technically I guess he could come anyday really. I certainly don’t feel like he’s moved much inside as in dropping down into position. But knowing it could be soon is kind of making me pull my finger out and get things done! Xx
