Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@PopsicleHustler exciting! Hope it all goes well good luck!

@lilroo87 glad you got a bit of relief from the toothache last night, hopefully it continues!

I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday (I am dramatic anyway) but my partner thinks we have so much time until baby is here but I want everything done now, I lost it that he hadn’t touched up a wall before we put some frames up 🤣 I blame the hormones but he should understand baring in mind his first child was born 7 weeks early! My next battle is getting him to fit the child seat in the car more so that it’s out of the way as so much baby shit everywhere and I hate things being out and a mess. But I need to get used to it I think with a baby!

lilroo87 · 15/12/2022 17:13

@H44123 haha, it gets so chaotic doesn't it.
Last time I made DP put the furniture together when I was about 25 weeks and by 30 weeks all the clothes were packed and away. I badgered him until he put the car seat in, he obviously thought I was bonkers but did it anyway bless him.
It is definitely all the hormones but i was also very much in the mindset of "it needs to all be done instantly". It does feel good when it's al organised though cause there's nothing to worry about then really.
I wish I had that motivation this time. Their room is still half built furniture and chaos everywhere.
DP is off over Xmas and New year so when we're back from visiting family we'll get everything finished then.

TokenGinger · 15/12/2022 18:50

@H44123 I saw on a car seat safety page on Facebook them advising not to put the car seat in until baby arrives, just in case the car is in a bump between now and baby arriving as it then can't be used, so I've kept our car seat in the house for now even though it's doing my fruit in.

@PopsicleHustler How did it go today? Do we have another baby joining us imminently?

I know what you both mean re: getting the house sorted. I've spent probably the last 10 weeks, no lie, sorting out a room at a time. It was almost like a jigsaw where we had to sort one room, move everything into another creating chaos in there, to then move everything out of there to sort that one etc. There were soooo many baby clothes to sort through that we've been given and we've had to send loads to charity as we had too many.

It feels so surreal that we already have one baby with us, possibly Popsicle's very soon, and others joining soon after. I've still got 4.5 weeks left. It seems like ages away but I know it's going to fly. I can't wait to finish work next week!

H44123 · 15/12/2022 19:13

@TokenGinger ha yes totally agree… moving things from one room to another.

Thats a really good point about the car seat, I will keep it in the house longer and learn to deal with it!

Totally agree about how fast time is going. I tried breaking it up beginning of dec, countdown to Xmas then it’s only 4 weeks away but December has flown already the weeks after will I am sure! I’m planning on working until a week before due date but I work from home so probably best to keep
me occupied a bit.

@lilroo87 yeah I think I think once it’s all done I can relax although I know that won’t happen, I will find something else to do/stress/panic about. Ideally would like to deep clean everywhere just before if possible but I’m not too bothered if not.

icecreamgirl94 · 17/12/2022 11:20

I’ve been up half the night with pains. It’s 5 weeks early so not sure what to think but this may be the start 😳

icecreamgirl94 · 17/12/2022 19:57

So I’ve been to the hospital and been sent home again as no signs that it’s labour, but my god I feel so sick and the pain in my stomach and back is awful. Could I have picked up some horrible bug? I feel like I can barely walk 😩

TokenGinger · 17/12/2022 21:44

Oh bless you, @icecreamgirl94. How are you feeling now? I started with excruciating pains a fortnight ago, 34 weeks. Thankfully I was out with a friend who is a nurse and she said it was Braxton Hicks. It felt so much like the real thing. I've had it a few times since. She said it was just my body stretching everything out to prepare for labour in the coming weeks xx

H44123 · 17/12/2022 22:14

@icecreamgirl94 hope your feeling better soon! Glad you went and got checked, always better to get reassurance! Could definitely be a bug/virus, soooo many around at the moment!

@TokenGinger I don’t think I have had any braxton hicks although an occasional random pain but I think that’s more when baby moves/changes position which causes pressure down below or maybe in my bladder for a second. I’m terrified of the pain to come, I bought a tens machine yesterday so hopefully when the time comes that can help me when at home. Then when I get to hospital I will be asking for all pain relief possible 🤣

lilroo87 · 18/12/2022 12:03

@icecreamgirl94 and @TokenGinger how are you both feeling?
I'm 34 weeks and have the worst backache and cramps today. I'm pretty sure I had the cramps when I was getting closer to the end of my first pregnancy. The backache has been constant throughout this time but is getting much worse.

@H44123 yes, the pain can be awful when they start running out of space. Baby keeps pushing outwards and I forgot how uncomfortable it feels, like he's trying to break out. 🤣

Had my midwife home visit yesterday where we went through the birth plan. Still hoping for a home birth but won't bother with a pool. I didn't have any pain relief the first time as the contractions were bearable but they told me I couldn't have gas and air for the actual pushing which was the worst bit for me really. Apparently that info is wrong though so I may use it this time, we'll see.

PopsicleHustler · 18/12/2022 12:34

Hello ladies, am still here, still pregnant and not being induced. Baby weight has dropped a bit but he is around 7lb1, which is fine. Am having lots of twinges and cramping. And am 37plus 2 today, so yeah, let's see whats happens!

Hope all is well with all of you ! Can't wait to update when I have had my little man!

H44123 · 18/12/2022 13:58

@PopsicleHustler looking forward to the announcement of your arrival! How are you feeling too? Any better your illness too? Wishing you all the best!

@lilroo87 i have my home visit on Wednesday. I had no idea they visit at home before baby is even here especially as it’s not a planned home birth. My partner thought they were coming to inspect the house to check it’s suitable for a baby 🤣🤣
At least you know the previous advice was wrong so if you want gas and air throughout you can!

I still haven’t finished packing baby bag. I just can’t find the motivation right now and really that should be done before my bag!

lilroo87 · 18/12/2022 14:55

@PopsicleHustler that's a pretty good weight for 37 weeks, fingers crossed he'll make an appearance soon.

@H44123 I didn't have one with my first but I think it's cause it was during covid. It's nice that they come out and it's a bit more informal than going to the clinics. 🤣🤣 I spent the week doing so much cleaning and tidying because I was so paranoid that if it wasn't perfect then she might judge me haha.

I bought some newborn nappies the other day, I have packed nothing in any sort of bag though so I wouldn't worry.

H44123 · 18/12/2022 15:16

@lilroo87 Yeah I will probably be going round cleaning before she comes. But with all the Xmas stuff and baby stuff I can’t make it look any better I don’t think! Hate having things everywhere! But I’m hoping to ask all my many questions when I see her Wednesday so hopefully that will be useful at least.

I bought some newborn ones from Aldi yesterday, seem a fairly good price and the reviews seem quite good so will give them a try! Also bought a pack of cow and gate powder formula just in case and some pre-made bottles with teats for the hospital. I think I have everything for the bag now I just need to actually do it! I’m also indecisive with the clothes to take for him too which isn’t helping!

lilroo87 · 18/12/2022 15:54

@H44123 atleast you have a list of questions prepared, I didn't even think of any questions I wanted to ask her.

Yeah the Aldi premium newborn are what we have and used those with DD. They were really good.
I didn't even have any formula first time round, just thought I'd try breastfeeding and could always send DP out if needed. I think I felt that if I struggled then I'd be more likely to jump straight to formula than persevere.
I think I packed 3 sleepsuits, 3 babygrows, hat, mittens, blanket.
There's a list on the bounty app that was really helpful that I used. I didn't take everything on there but it helps you see what you've got/might need etc.

icecreamgirl94 · 18/12/2022 17:33

I had the baby, I guess it wasn’t a bug after all!

lilroo87 · 18/12/2022 18:43

@icecreamgirl94 oh wow, congratulations! How exciting having baby before Christmas.
Hope the birth went well.
How many weeks were you again? x

H44123 · 18/12/2022 19:56

@icecreamgirl94 huge congratulations!! How did it all go? Hope you are both well! Just goes to show that the start of labour could be those signs too!!

@lilroo87 thank you so much for recommending that app. I had no idea about it but it is full of useful info! It mentions a changing mat for hospital baby bag, I hadn’t even considered this to be honest!

lilroo87 · 18/12/2022 20:28

@H44123 I definitely didn't pack a changing mat so I wouldn't worry about taking one. There are some things on their lists that I don't think are necessary really but it is handy

Somatronic · 18/12/2022 21:19

@icecreamgirl94 congratulations! I hope you're both doing well!

TokenGinger · 18/12/2022 23:12

Omg @icecreamgirl94!! That's incredible. Congratulations. How are you doing? How's baby doing?

I've been pants the past few days, and did a test today before my 36 week appointment tomorrow and had tested positive for Covid 😩😩

I picked up some of the Aldi newborn nappies the other day, too. They we're great when DS was a baby.

I've got some formula too just in case I can't feed. I've had a breast reduction so I was warned I may not be able to breastfeed. I didn't try with DS but he had so many problems with feeding and suspected allergies that I want to try and avoid that this time.

VixenAndKits · 18/12/2022 23:45

@icecreamgirl94 congratulations!!! Hope you and baby are well!!

I'm just under 30 days away now. Still sorting out the bedroom since delivery issues have set us back... Got stuff ready for the hospital bag, but haven't packed it yet. Whoops! Least everything is done now for Christmas so no last minute stresses.

Though everyone and their mum wants an appointment with me straight after New Year's. Consultant and dentist included. The dentist puts me on edge, they want me the week before my due date, nerves may trigger labour if it hasn't happened before 😆

Still keeping my fingers and toes crossed for no labour signs until after New Year's! Then I'll be going through the myths to trigger. I did a bunch and my son was born on his due date so never know 😆

Anyone got any tips/tricks for swelling? The last week especially I've really swollen up in my legs/ankles and arms/hands. Been itchy from the stretching. Midwife says nothing about my blood pressure and urine tests this whole pregnancy so don't think it's anything to worry about (but I will bring it up when I see her tomorrow) it's just SUPER painful and makes it even more difficult to get around.

Hope everyone is doing well and putting their feet up - not long left for us all now!!

PopsicleHustler · 19/12/2022 06:01

Wow, amazing news @icecreamgirl94 baby number 2 has arrived! Yay congratulations

I wonder who will be next! I have my 37w appointment today with midwife.....

Last things to do today is bring out the car seat from the storage and clean it. Also, I want to order an asda with things for my snacks bag but because its the week to Christmas all the delivery slots are getting filled up quickly!

lilroo87 · 19/12/2022 09:03

@TokenGinger oh no, hope you start feeling better soon. Annoying that it's right before your 36 week appointment.
Fingers crossed you'll be able to breastfeed, I remember really struggling to start with but had a great maternity support worker that saw me every day to help.

@VixenAndKits we are the same with the bedroom. We plan on putting both kids in same room at some point but we are just so busy with other things that it still isn't done. DD is still in with us so I think that's stopped us from rushing to get it done.
Don't really have any tips for swelling, I had it really bad with my first but it was in summer so assumed it was mainly the heat. I could barely walk and no shoes fit me, had to steal DP's flip flops and then basically sat with my feet and legs up all the time. As soon as I stood up my feet swelled, it was awful.

I was so uncomfortable throughout the night last night, kept getting waves of pain in my lower back which then moved to my pelvic area. Baby was moving loads more aswell. I'm hoping it's not labour yet as I'm only 34 weeks and definitely not prepared for an early arrival. He was also only around 4lbs at my 32 week scan so I know he'll definitely be too small.

Somatronic · 19/12/2022 09:24

@TokenGinger I'm so sorry to hear you're sick. I hope you're feeling better x

@VixenAndKits I suddenly started swelling too since Saturday morning. I'm 37+4 now. The joints in my fingers are so sore that the pain woke me up at least 10 times last night! I have a hospital appointment this morning so I'll ask them if there's anything I can do.

My main issue is rib pain. I'm at the stage now where I have to spend most of my time on the ball or bent over the side of a sofa. I can't sit down or even lie on the couch. Bed is OK though. Very annoying! When will this baby drop!

PoppyHenry · 19/12/2022 09:43

@icecreamgirl94 congratulations xxx

@TokenGinger hope your feeling ok. X
